Kathy, I didn't know it but when I stuck the quote in Google it came up with lots of hits. So now I know the movie though I never saw it. So tell us.. was he or wasn't he??? From another world?? Oh and Matilda... I concur about Jerry Lewis. I'm a little embarrassed (:o-->) to admit that I liked his movies when I was a child but what the hey.. folks grow up. What is it with the French anyways?? Do we need a new theme guys?? Any requests from any specific decade? The '60's perhaps?? Hard or easy??? Movie themes perhaps??? sudo (eager to please)

Raf, No, I got no headaches. I just kept reaching for a cigarette at times I associated with smoking. Gradually, I quit reaching. I never think about 'em anymore so remember that when you get tempted to stick one in your mouth and fire it up. Interestingly, a very high percentage of people start back smoking months after they've stopped and are over the cravings. sudo
-
Raf, It's been two weeks and no smokes?? Are you doing the patch or chewing Nicorette gum?? When I quit smoking after leaving TWI I was over it in about three days.. much like George Aar said. Oh, I'd instinctively reach for my shirt pocket when getting on the phone of grabbing a cup of coffee. But that was reflex.. I wasn't craving cigs after the third day. I'm wondering if you're prolonging the misery by using low dose nicotine. sudo

74% (Dixie). That is a pretty strong Southern score! Well, what didja' expect?? A little something I recorded when I saw my score... click HERE! :)--> sudo

I remember it like Pirate does.. The show was on here as late as the early '60's so I remember it fairly well. I'm 52 years old. Amos definitely took a back seat. The show should have been called the Kingfish and Andrew H. Brown show. It was mostly about the chronicly unemployed Kingfish trying to weasel money out of Andy. Where ANDY got all his money is a big mystery to me because he didn't work either. My favorite episode was where the Kingfish and lawyer Calhoun conspired to sell Andy a "house" which was only a facade that was used as a movie set. Oh, and the episode of the invisible glass was hilarious, too. The Kingfish acted like he was dropping glass and Calhoun was in the closet breaking real glass on cue for the sound effects. Guess you had to have been there.. sudo

Steve!, So you never watched Amos 'm Andy?? It was a great show that got yanked by nervous exectutives when the NAACP started grousing about it. Too much ahead of its time. It was the only thing on TV that showed blacks as police officers, teachers and even judges back in the 50's. And funny? I have 12 episodes on VHS that are just hilarious. Again.. timeless humor that even my kids enjoy. And about the Flintstones and Winston cigarettes. It was a different plain and simple. Kids could buy cigarettes back then. I usta' go in and buy 'em for my mom when I was no more than 10 years old. Cigarette machines were as ubiquitous as Coke and Pepsi machines today. There was even a place in high schools here in Memphis for boys to go for smoke breaks. All allowed and sanctioned by school authorities. Not only did the Flinstones light up but so did Lucy and Desi. Chesterfields. Johnny Carson smoked at his desk on the Tonight Show. He died of emphysema. Things change. As Matilda was saying, smoking was big in the 20th century but that's come to a big halt. Lots of folks still smoking, I know. Seems I hear someone saying, "millions now smoking". Naw.. I probably dreamed that -->. But as I look into my crystal ball I see big changes by the time I get old in another 30 years.... No hydrogenated oils will be allowed. Fast food restaurants will all have healthy stuff available and everyone will love going to the dentist. Two out of three ain't bad prognosticating, huh?? sudo

Hiway29, You're too knowledgeable for your own good . How do you expect the rest of us around here to compete?? Here's a hard one for you. It's not hard for me because I remember it well.. but it's tough for most folks. Click HERE! and be cryptic if you know it ;)--> sudo

Pirate, I thought it was LAURA that thought they had the wrong baby. I remember the scene where the other couple comes to the door. Rob opens the door and starts belly laughing but we can't see the other couple at first. Finally, they step inside and we see why he's been laughing.. they are black. Yep.. good one. sudo
-
I don't remember the premise... But does anyone remember the episode where Rob gets hypnotized and then afterwards, everytime he hears a bell he acts drunk?? It's not politically correct today to mine laughs out of drunks but it used to be done all the time.. Remember Otis' antics on The Andy Griffith show? Or Red Skelton's bum?? Anyways, Dick Van Dyke did a great drunk impersonation but I hear he in fact DID have a drinking problem and gave it up. sudo

OK.. it's morning :)--> I've been up for hours and am just now posting a new tune. Guess I'll have to get my priorities straight sometime.. This is one of those tunes that are very distinctive. Time yourselves when you click on the link HERE! How long did it take before you knew it?? This was one of those shows like I Love Lucy that had timeless humor. You can watch an episode today and it's just as funny as when it first aired. Also... my barely pubescent mind thought the lady of the house was one fine babe!! sudo

I loved that movie!! As I was saying, my kids and I would dance Irish jigs all through the movie... until they got old enough to realize it wasn't cool. And tell me.. didn't any of ya'll notice that Janet Munro was a wee bit cross-eyed?? I'm still uploading that ISO file, folks.. reformatted the computer with the new DVD burner and am still looking for just the right software... all the while checking in here. If no one else does, I'll get another tune up tomorrow morning, OK??? Beautiful weather here in Memphis I might add. sudo

Wasway, Yes, that helped me quite a bit but I'm screaming like a banshee wondering if it'll help Kathy!!! sudo
-
Wasway, I didn't take any drama class but I recognize some tunes from your post.. Yankee Doodle Dandy, She's A Grand old Flag, Mary, Mary, Over There, H-A-R-R-I-G-A-N, Just 45 Minutes From Broadway, and Give My Regards To Broadway. Almost sounds like a soundtrack from some movie. :D--> sudo

Well isn't THAT cute... the powers that be have decided we'll all have green font color on St. Paddy's day. Maybe for some.. :P--> But just to show I'm game to go along.. I've gots one with an Irish theme for you all. Click HERE and name the movie and the singer. It used to be a favorite movie for me and the kids to watch together. They're now too cool to get up and do an Irish gig during the movie :(-->. sudo P.S. I've figured out what the feather is... put your mouse over it and wait a few seconds... it tells you whether or not the person is presently on-line with AOL IM.
-
Kathy, OK, I'll bite.. what with the white feather??? And what did you think of Wasway's response?? :P--> sudo
-
Oh OK.. so for once I didn't convert the file and remove the tags. Like you guys haven't made that mistake before either! Hrmmmmmmph!!! The show was Wings! Good show. Heck, lasted for 7 years, I think. So I guess, ya'll are expecting a new one because of my little snafu, huh? OK.. I'm willing to oblige.. click HERE! sudo
-
Looks like we need another theme.. This one might be a challenge but it should qualify as nostalgia as the TV series started 15 years ago. That's nostalgia for my 18 year old daughter, anyways :P-->. Click HERE! I'm posting it not because it was a real popular series.. but because I love the music. sudo
-
Yes, Oldies.. I've been having trouble all morning, too.. grrrrr... sudo
-
Kathy, That's a good tune, no doubt, and since you particularly like it.. how about hearing it in yop 320 bit rate? It's nearly 13 meg but what the heck.. we all seem to have broadband here. Regular (left) click HERE! to listen or right click HERE! to save it to disk. Enjoy!! I've told you guys I've been installing and fiddling around with DVD software all weekend. Anyone interested in a 4 gig ISO of Million Dollar Baby?? Premo quality??? Hmmmmm???? Don't think it's pirated. I gots it from my daughter's boyfriend and while viewing it it says 'property of Time Warner'. He claims its one of 1000's they sent out for Academy Award lobbying. Makes sense. sudo

New one just today.. I guess they get some hits. Dear Friend, Complement of the seasons. This letter may come to you as a surprise due to the fact that we have not yet met. The message could be strange but real if you pay some attention to it,I could have notified you about it at least for the sake of your integrity. Please accept my sincere apologies. In bringing this message of goodwill to you, I have to say that I have no intentions of causing you any embarrassments. In order to transfer out (fifteen million pounds sterling) from our bank here I have the courage to look for a reliable and honest person who will be capable for this important transaction, believing that you will never let me down either now or in future. I am the auditor of a bank here in London,United Kingdom. There is an account opened in this bank in 1995 and since my inception into office in 2001, nobody has operated on this account again, after going through some old files, I discovered that if i do not remit this money out urgently, it will be forfeited for nothing. The owner of this account was Mr. John Hughes who was a foreigner and the Director of a chemical service here in London, a chemical engineer by profession and he died since 1995.And then, since 2001, nobody knows about this account or anything concerning it, the account has no other beneficiary and my investigation proved to me as well that his company does not know anything about this account and the amount involved is (15,000,000.00) pounds sterling. I want to transfer this money into a safe foreign account abroad but i don't know any foreigner, i am only contacting you as a foreigner because this money can not be approved to any local bank here in United Kingdom, but can only be approved to any foreign account because the money is pounds sterling's and theformer owner of the account is John Hughes and he was a foreigner too. Thank you as I anticipate your response. Alex Goodman 447040117825 ___________________________________________________________ Book yourself something to look forward to in 2005. Geeze Kathy.. For the life of me I don't know what you're trying to say.. That you don't know the show (click HERE!)?? or don't get the clues?? You haven't taken a stab at the show so I don't know if you know it or not.. If you DON'T know it (no shame here, girl!) more clues will be forthcoming. Did you read what Matilda posted about the one I got from my DVD (click HERE!..UPDATED!!)? Did you have any ideas about that one?? Like I said, no shame here but we've lost several participants over the years because they felt stupid at not knowing these tunes. I hope that doesn't happen to you, if as I'm thinking you aren't knowing them. Look at how slow this thread can get. We NEED folks who need clues.. makes us feel smarter. :D--> sudo P.S. I've updated the Sandra Dee song above!! Much better now, I think. This DVD software is a bugger bear!

Hi Kathy! :)--> Good Saturday morning to you. I think Wasway was giving you a hint on the theme I posted (click HERE). Hiway29 gave a good hint too concerning the character that left. I'll be checking in sporadically today (yeah, it HAS been quiet around here hasn't it?) as I'm installing a new DVD burner in one of my computers. Been up since 4 O'clock and I'm having a great time. The installation was a piece of cake.. it's getting the right editing and burning software that's work. I have a DVD recorder hooked to my TV so I put a DVD I recorded into my new DVD burner on my computer. Here's a snippet from it and it's not half bad if I do say so myself. Click HERE! and name the movie or actress singing. sudo

Linda, Re:"Sudo, upon what (aside from what appears to be an attitude that nicotine is just a bad habit that can easily be shaken by all but the weak willed) do you base your view that nicotine isn't highly addictive?" Well, how 'bout there ain't no measurable withdrawal symptoms for one?? You go cold turkey from opiates and you gots the runs, sweats, pilated hair follicles (what a cold turkey looks like) and various other things I forget about. You quit barbiturates and you get major seizures that can KILL YOU!!!!!!!! But you quit cigarettes and what do you get?? A lot of whining. You don't get sweats.. you don't get hives.. In fact you don't get anything more than a desire for another dang cigarette, yet you want to believe that nicotine is the most addictive substance on Earth?? And you want me to take you seriously?? I don't care diddly squat about recidivism. Nicotine is legal and hence more temptation. Narcotics are not. Proves nothing about addiction potential. So to rehash.. one drug debilitates you for weeks and can even KILL you if you stop using it regularly and the other makes you ornery for a week or so. Which one is more addictive?? sudo

I now post my favorite TV program from the '60's. It probably wasn't my favorite program at the time, though. That would have been a lot of others... The Munsters, The Addams family and The Flintstones. And though everyone will know this one no doubt.. let's show some respect, huh?? There could be someone out there who doesn't know it!! Click HERE! and remimence, uh I mean, remenence, no, reminence naw... I mean remember! :D--> sudo

Belle, Re:"I quit for a long time but NEVER quit craving cigarettes." Yes, and alcoholics will often tell you they still crave a drink. Junk food addicts tell you they can't do low-carb diets because they crave sugar. Bill Clinton was powerless to overcome the intern in the Oval Office because he craved.... sudo
