Rick, No, it was a real movie with actors and stuff.. BUT.. there was a cartoon spin-off so probably Hiway29 will know it. Remember the Beatles cartoons they did back about 1967?? They made Ringo really stupid in them. sudo P.S. My daughter is sitting upstairs with me and when I played the tune again... she yelled out the name after 2 seconds. :D-->

Hey guys... It's been a fun weekend around here for a change hasn't it?? I appreciate the compliments Kathy but I'm not really a sensitive 90's kind of guy . OK, I can cry during scenes at movies (I really turn on the faucet when dogs are involved) but I don't care for most "chick flicks". Was Driving Miss Daisey a chick flick? If so I liked THAT one but the ones my wife likes?? Fried Green Tomatoes?? When Harry Met Sally? Steel Magnolias? Nope!~ Not my cup of tea. I got roped into watching The Notebook with her a while back on video and boy was THAT a bummer of a movie. When all is said and done, Kathy you have to remember one thing... men really are from Mars!! Hee-hee! We have no hard and fast rules here and going on tangents can be fun. For practice shall we try to do things the way Kathy spelled out for us on this next one? I know some TV shows and movies are tough to answer in a cryptic manner without giving the whole thing away. But this next one was such a fun movie! I don't know that its old enough to qualify for nostalgia but we bought the video when it came out and for awhile it was my kids favorite movie to watch. Those memories qualify it for me Click HERE! and even if you don't know it.. its fun music, no?? sudo P.S. I can't understand a word in Shakespear movies either, Hiway29!! I have to have ENGLISH sub-titles!!

Does this help?? Click HERE! Oh and Sharon... didja' listen to my 'daddy' song?? Remember it?? sudo
-
Sharon, Would you like to actually hear it?? Click HERE! She didn't win an Oscar for her singing now did she?? I hate to rain on a parade but I should let you two know that those smiley's ya'll got from smileycentral loaded adware on ya'll's computers. Are yous getting popups, slowdowns are anything peculiar?? You can stick 'smileycentral' into a search engine and see but here's a good link.. click HERE! There is a removal tool but I don't know if it works or not :(-->. sudo

Ron, What Herbal said. Good to see your font again!! sudo

Kathy, You got it! That's Mel Carter, a one hit wonder. Didja' see that Rick also has some memories that go along with that song?? I suspect a LOT of us old coots do too. The thing about a new server is that it's a new toy first and foremost. Oh, I'm sure Rick and Wasway see it as bidness first but even THEY like taking it out for a test drive I suspect . Men have certain issues, Kathy. We're concerned with our size and our speed. The bigger the better. The faster the better. Whether we're over-hormoned teenage boys with souped up cars or middle-aged old men with computers, it doesn't change. Who's got the biggest engine or hard drive?? What can it do in the ΒΌ mile or its upstream modem test? Who's got the most under the hood or on the motherboard? Are those overhead cams or SATA hard drives?? But there's a practical side, too. They're fun!! Did I mention they were also toys?? Most internet service providers (ISP's) give you only a measelly 5 meg worth of "homepage" space on their servers. Rick, has generously offered us gigs as long as we don't abuse it. Gigs!! You know that Mel Carter song I just posted? That song alone was 2.3 meg. Nearly HALF of what my Road Runner account gives me. I uploaded it to Rick's server instead and don't have to worry about space. I can post all the songs I want. Thanks to Rick. And weren't we talking about speed? His server is fast. Very fast. T1 to T3 kind of fast. I know that might not mean much to you, Kathy but it means it can send the music files to you faster than you can play them. My other server (Lroom.org) has only a DSL connection and can't dish 'em up fast enough. But I drone on and on. But just remember this.. it's really not that tough to learn how to upload to servers and then link to them in posts here. You're already linking to pics all the time. It's really the same thing with different commands. The HARD part is finding the stuff to link to. It's getting tougher and tougher to find good tunes on the internet. sudo

Rick, Are you going to give us passwords and let us play with it some?? Hmmm?? Pretty please??? sudo (loves puppies and gadgets)

Rick, Re:"Oh I see how you are! Everyone waits till I'm not around to have a conversation!" Good to have you back 'ole chum. We've been missing you but your being gone can be a good thing... business must be good for you!! sudo

Steve! I understand that it's just a little bit of spyware ;)-->. sudo

Kathy, Re:"So Sudo, you being a romantic and all, was there a special song you and your sweetie had?" Well, yes there is though I've never mentioned it here, I don't think. You've gotten to know me, Kathy, because I am a real sentimentalist. The best things in life are family and friends and all that keeps that in remembrance, IMO. Though it was a hit song long before we started dating, it was the song being played the first time Carol and I slow danced together. It's been "our" song ever since. Click HERE! for the good MP3. Which reminds me.. Sharon, are you still here?? Do you have broadband?? Anybody out there trying to click on that link and it's taking forever because you have a dial-up internet connection?? Ya'll can click HERE! to listen. I've gotten kinda' lazy on that as of late but I think the regular Nostalgics all have broadband.. right?? --> sudo

Kathy, When I first glanced at the pic of Annette and Frankie you posted, I thought it was Jethro Bodine in the family jalopy. Hee-hee! My take on those Beach movies is that they seemed more a part of the 50's than the 60's. That's because the 60's didn't really start until the Beatles "invaded" Feb. 1964, IMO. Here's an oldie that was all the rage.. click HERE! sudo P.S. Hiway29, we DO try to keep politics at a minimum here, 'ya know. Makes too many people crazy .

Wasway, Good pic and great sound bite. A real treasure worth it's weight in gold from a movie showing the ravages of gold fever. Just stick your hand under the rock. Gila monsters don't let go, I understand. The movie is, of course, McHale's Navy Joins The Air Force. sudo

Hi Sharon!! Good to see you here. Click on the picture below..... Sudo's first love !!!

Geo, If only we knew then what we know now. Had you invested $1000 dollars in Microsoft in 1976 (it was founded the year before) you'd be worth an approximate 5 billion dollars today. Wasway... I found out something today by using IMDB. Humphrey Bogart and James Cagney appeared in only one movie together... but I ain't saying 'cuz I cheated. sudo

Hey guys! Looks like I'm in the definite minority thinking Ronald Reagan was a prety good actor. Just lookit what Geo thought.. "Ronny might have been the consummate politician, but I think he was a tad too much of a lightweight to have been a good "Rick"." .... Could be I'm all wrong about 'ole Ronnie. Just as long as people have actually SEEN the body of his acting work and choose to disagree with me..I won't quibble. It was a lot more than "Bedtime For Bonzo", though. You have to see the work. It's like Andy Griffith.. If all you had seen was him as sheriff Taylor in Mayberry or as Matlock you wouldn't know that he could play a really really bad guy which he did so well. Same thing with Ronald Reagan, IMO. Does he look convincing as a bad guy in this pic?? :)--> sudo
-
I'm in agreement with Garth.. I'll retire when they pry my dead cold fingers from around my drill. But that isn't going to happen anytime soon because I'm so young and virile. DON'T let that photo under my name fool you! I'm good looking!! Here's my latest pic!!! sudo
-
Geo, Wouldn't have been devestating if Ronald Reagan had gotten the part of Rick. One thing folks seem to forget is that Ronald Reagan was good at his craft. He was a consumate actor and with a fine script he could have pulled it off IMO. Have you seen King's Row?? He's pretty dang good! A few of my favorite clips before we leave this movie.. click HERE! and HERE! and HERE! and HERE! and HERE! and... finally HERE!!! sudo (spoilling it all for Hiway29)

Kathy, Re:"....well, um....nope cause I talk to him everyday." Next time you talk to him then, ask him why he has been making hisveryown self scarce around these parts?? I keep expecting him to chime in on Casablanca anytime now. Glad to hear you liked the movie!! Not every good movie is everybody's cup of tea as Hiway29 attests to. I bet we're gonna' be discussing 'Rosebud' pretty soon and I'LL be the one scratching my head wondering what's the big whoop :D-->. Here's the line Wasway knew and posted.. click HERE! An interesting tidbit is that the actor who played Maj. Strasser (Conrad Veidt) was Jewish! He and his wife had to flee Nazi Germany. No wonder he was so good.. he knew first hand the evils of the Nazis! sudo P.S. Hi Krys! Long time no see you down here in Nostalgia. And now to add insult to injury.. I find out Bluzeman is your favorite :(-->.

I'd have to put this in the catagory of "Just what are you going to do?". Click on the link HERE!~ There's a free video, too. People are taking sides. What's your take?? I felt dismay that it has come to this. When I was that age, my teachers would have jerked me down to the principal's office where I would have had a good hard paddling. My parents would have been told and I would have gotten another dose when I got home. I wouldn't have done it again. But those days are long gone and aren't coming back in our lifetime because all the "experts" now say corporal punishment traumatizes, teaches that violence (against and by) children is acceptable, is immoral and uncivilized. With paddling banned what do you do when you have children throwing temper tantrums? In this school district it appears the teachers take a LOT of time trying to reason with the child. After that, they call the police. sudo

Kathy, I've noticed casually that Casablanca isn't as popular with women as it is with men. Could be the war background. Dealing with evil Nazis.. murdering couriers..kinda' like Darth Vader types out of Star Wars. My wife doesn't particularly care for Casablanca, 'fer instance, but she loves Steel Magnolias. I've got part of the conversation that goes with your pic below and the links should be live if you care to click on them.. sudo /* Style Definitions */ p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal {mso-style-parent:""; margin:0in; margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:12.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";} a:link, span.MsoHyperlink {color:blue; text-decoration:underline; text-underline:single;} a:visited, span.MsoHyperlinkFollowed {color:P-->urple; text-decoration:underline; text-underline:single;} @page Section1 {size:8.5in 11.0in; margin:1.0in 1.25in 1.0in 1.25in; mso-header-margin:.5in; mso-footer-margin:.5in; mso-paper-source:0;} div.Section1 {page:Section1;} --> [Ugarte gives exit visas to Rick for safe keeping] Ugarte: Rick, I hope you're more impressed with me, now? Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll share my luck with your roulette wheel. [Starts to walk away] Rick: [stands up. Ugarte stops] Just a moment. I heard a rumor those two German couriers were carrying letter of transit. Ugarte: Huh? Oh, huh, I heard that rumor too. Poor devils. Rick: You're right, Ugarte. I am a little more impressed with you. [Rick exits casino]

Geo, Wasway and Pirate.. I see we ALL concur on this particular scene and since Wasway admitted it... I'll do the same.. the tears pour down my face watching this scene. So folks don't have to go back to the previous page, here's the link again.. click HERE! As Pirate said, "powerful" pretty well sums it up for me, too. Geo.. yes, I was late seeing it but unlike Hiway29 who thinks he knew too much about the movie to properly enjoy it, I didn't know the ending when I first saw it. It was 1987 and I was a grown man.. 35 years old. Can you imagine the impact that had on me? I had recorded the movie on my fairly new gadget called a VCR and watched it with my best friend. He had never seen it either. And there for a while towards the end of the movie I was really disliking Bogart thinking him a cad. But then... ;)--> I can also edit the clip of the movie's one truely humorous line spoken by Claude Raines. I think we all know the one... anyone interested?? sudo P.S. Hiway29.. a comedy like Sullivan's Travels makes you teary eyed?? I'm thinking you meant another movie. Veronica Lake was some eye candy wasn't she??

Hiway29, It's been lonely at the Nostalgia thread as of late, huh?? I've been preoccupied by honey-do's and the like but see what you could do if you wanted to post stuff your_very_own_self?? You could keep things interesting... that's what!! Looking around at my files that could be posted I came across a large MP3 from a movie that I've posted before. This time I decided to take a snippet of that movie, edit it a bit and post it here just for you, dude, though Kathy may appreciate it, too. I wanted to see if you ARE indeed a lover of old movies. Uh, maybe you DO love the old movies.. I want to test if you've watched them and how well you remember them. Here's the deal, Sparky. I post this clip and you tell me what movie, actors speaking or whatever strikes your fancy. I'll tell you this much... it's on on my top 5 of all time best movies ever made by Hollywood. I'll admit that the first time I saw this movie was 1987 and though I'm not proud of that fact, you have to keep in mind that classic movies were hard to come by before video cassete recorders. One had to stay up late at night and even then in markets where TV stations played old movies. This part in the movie you're about to hear, brought tears to my eyes, Hiway29. Listening to the clip that may seem hard to understand, but there are things happening on-screen behind what you're hearing. I swear, this movie.. of all movies I've ever watched.. has the best ending ever. Hands down. I jumped up, pumping my fists at the sky (ala 'Rocky' style) hooted and hollered at the end. Several young cast members are still alive. Click HERE! sudo (and.. how SOON didja' know it?)

Pirate, After I asked you what was on the flip side, I did some searching and found out there were 45's with at least two different flip sides. The one I listened to had the '64 version.. The new 1964 version, recorded live on Johnny Carson's Tonight Show on 27 May 1964... G R A N A D A! Camp Granada, bleeeck! Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh. I am back at Camp Granada. And I'm writing you this letter just to say my compound fracture's getting better. No one here knows where my trunk is and my bunk is where the skunk is. And this year the food's improving 'cause the little black things in it are not moving. Our camp nurse is quite a swimmer. She says swimming makes you slimmer. Her name's Mrs. Balagreeni. Have you ever seen a whale in a bikini? All our bathrooms have such thin doors. Gee, I wish they'd move them indoors. We're all tired of Mother Goose here. So next Friday night they're having Lenny Bruce here. Let me stay, oh Muddah, Fadduh. Let me stay, I love Granada. Every night the camp fire's really keen. Oh mom, please send some unguentine. Let me stay, out here in mother nature's land and tip-toe through the tulips grand. To leave would be a shame. Besides, I'd miss the poker game. Please don't worry, Fadduh, Muddah. I'll take care of little brother. He plays ball here and he rows here and I hope they teach him how to blow his nose here. He wakes up at half past six and goes directly to the quick sand. He was lonely, now he's better. He's like all of us except his bed is wetter. sudo

Wasway, Re:"I often wonder if Leonard Skinner recovered from his tomain poisoning to grow up to be the coach that Ronnie VanZant named his southern rock band after??? That sounds familiar. But naw.. they spell it differently.. 'Lynyrd' I think. You're trying to pull a fast one, Wasway . Rick.. Re:"Was his name Brutus? I always thought it was Bluto." You're right. I must have been thinking of the OTHER all time classic.. Julius Caesar . Pirate.. You had that record and nearly wore the grooves out.. Does 'ya remember what was on the flip side?? sudo
