Bowtwi, I'm so late with wishes for your having a happy birthday that its almost time for the next one!! Don't make yourself such a stranger around these parts!!! sudo
-
George, Re:"I didn't either, until I checked IMDB. The tune was quite recognizable, though." The IMDB is a great resource site isn't it?? I like to post tunes that may drive folks crazy like this one did for Hiway29... he KNEW he had heard it countless times but couldn't place it. Hee-hee! I love it. Here's another one that may do the same. Click HERE! sudo

George, You never heard Goober doing his Cary Grant imitation. With Gomer egging him on to do it again and again, it was really really funny. Had to have seen it I guess. Go on Goober, do it again!! Hiway29.. was Warren really in only 4 episodes?? I remember that schtick that you and Steve! talked about so well. I also have to agree with you guys on Bonanza losing Pernell Roberts. Anyone remember Gunsmoke losing Dennis Weaver? I never DID take to Festus. And while we're on the subject of Westerns, here's one that was a movie first. I apologize for the quality but the pickings are getting scarcer on the internet.. click HERE! The TV series, uh, wasn't highly acclaimed -->. sudo

Cindy, How about a Wheaten Scottie? The Sudo family got one about 6 weeks ago! Adorable little fella' named 'Laddie'. sudo
-
--> .......... :D--> sudo (wondering why Wasway hasn't posted in two weeks)

1kNames, Happy birthday guy! We haven't thrown a party down here in a bit but maybe we ought to :P--> This next one is a TV medical show from the 70's and what makes it different from all the rest is.... a really perky, very attractive nurse who was portrayed by an actress with a male name. Click HERE! sudo

Kathy, Walk Don't Run. I said you you might be a tad young to remember it, didn't I ;)-->. Now if you had been paying attention, you'd have gotten it from Hiway29's post about it. Gotta' be sharp around these parts, girl :D-->. 'Ya think Ted will post again?? sudo (always tryin' to please)

Satori, But does ANYONE here doubt that OJ WASN'T guilty??? sudo
-
I'm not saying Michael Jackson isn't a child molester because he settled on that case, what? Ten years ago? But.. I DON'T think he's guilty in this case because 1)The accuser and his whole fam damily smell like rotten eggs and 2)Michael's demeanor when denouncing the accusations at the very beginning was convincing to me. Could well be that yes, he knew he was guilty in the past but by gawd.. he was totally innocent in THIS case. And as far as that goes.. Jackson may be a wierdo but I'm not convinced he's a molester at all. Could be he signed off on the other case because of circumstantial evidence, poor legal advice or just not wanting to go through the hassles of civil (not criminal) trial. So there! sudo

It's about to be announced and my prediction?? Man, this is probably dumb making a prediction minutes before the verdict is read but.. I think its going to be Not Guilty. Poor case presentation by the prosecution. sudo
-
George, Are you Google-ing?? Yeah, that's how Pirate does it!! Nobody could be that good. But you??? I'm shocked!! ...... ;)--> What about the other song?? Are you old enough to remember it?? Big hit in the 60's.. about the time that Telstar came out.. here it is again.. click HERE! sudo P.S. Am I the only one who thinks the words to This 'Ole House and the music are incongrous?? Click HERE! to hear it again.
-
Kathy, Try 'em again and let me know, OK?? sudo P.S. Hiway29... ;)-->

Ted, Good to see your font popping in down here. We get a LOT! of folks who read this thread but never post. I try to please everyone as much as I can with what I post and most of us are 50-ish. You have a few years on us so I'll have go go back a wee bit further, huh? Here's one that was a hit in 1954 so I'm sure you'll remember it fondly. Most of us have heard the song though we might not know who the young lady was doing the singing. And I've got to say... this song is probably as bad as it gets when it comes to matching music to lyrics. Hear that lively happy music complete with honky tonk piano in the background?? Really makes you want to dance a gig and twirl the fingers in the air, huh? Then listen to the lyrics which are dark and foreboding. It's about happier times long gone and impending death. But hey.. it was sure a hit in 1954. Click HERE!~ and tell me if you remember the song being that somber. Does everyone else know the singer?? We were discussing Telnet, the Tornadoes and the Ventures? The song I posted was the Ventures' version of the song which came out later than the Tornadoes'. If anyone can find the Tornadoes' version then e-mail it to me (dbdbdb@midsouth.rr.com) and I'll post that one too. I have reason to believe that the next song I'm posting will be well known to this geriatric crowd . It came out when I was 12 years old and I just loved it. I tried and tried to play it by ear on the piano (I had a full year of piano lessions under my belt, too :D-->) but couldn't get it. I could tell it was in a minor key but I kept trying to play arpeggios instead of a straight minor scale which is what it actually was. When I picked up one of those piano books with simplified popular songs and saw how it was done, I wanted to slap myself.. of COURSE!!! Click HERE!~ and see if you know the song and who did it. Kathy... you might be a tad young ;)-->. Hope everyone's having a great weekend. I've been hanging out by the pool having the servants make up Margaritas with crab and shrimp appetizers. Or... maybe... I've just been hanging out in the kitchen doing dishes and listening for the dryer when it goes off. And... since we don't have a pool.. and no servants.. :D--> sudo (waiting for Godot... or Arlene.. whoever comes first)

Kathy, Re:"I just love it when a man admits he's wrong." I understand. My wife, Carol, loves it too.. because it occurs so rarely!! In fact, I remember the last time I was wrong about something and even then I wasn't ashamed to admit it. It was 1962 and I was in the 5th grade and answered my teacher's question IN ERROR!! The hit song on the radio WASN'T about Russia's Sputnick! Click HERE! and see why I was wrong and name the song! sudo

Kathy, Well blow me down! You tried to tell me but would I listen?? :o--> But noooo... I had to act like I was the expert or something!! I watched that show a lot and just plain fergot about John Ritter being in it. Live and learn, huh?? sudo
-
Kathy, John Ritter?? Naw.. he wasn't in The Waltons. Uh, maybe we're talking someone else?? What a family show The Waltons was. You know.. therearen't any family tv shows anymore are there?? sudo
-
Time for another nostalgia tune, I think. C'mon everyone who knows how to post tunes... help me out here. Post a tune or two.. for old times sake? Can't do it, Sallie? Here's one that is interesting for me. It was a very popular TV show back in the 70's when I accepted a position as the public health dentist in Nelson county, Virginia. The show was set in the 1930's but as I was sitting there watching the show the first week I was there... the characters were talking about Rockfish, Skyler and other towns that were in Nelson county!! Could this be co-incidence?? How many towns were named Rockfish and Skyler anyways?? I was incredulous but the next day I asked some co-workers about it and it was true. The show was based right there and everyone, it seemed, knew the creater guy personally. His mother was elderly but still lived in the family house. I saw her a time or two later myself. So click HERE!.. I know you ALL watched this one! sudo
-
Yeah yeah.. I think I know it now from Steve!'s and Rick's hints, George.. it's the soap from the Emerald Isle, no??? sudo
-
George, At first I thought I knew your commercial but realized I was thinking of a deodarant commercial. Something like,"strong enough for a man but made for a woman." sudo
-
Hiway29, Re:"I remember Ellen Foley, and must admit that Markie Post was more attractive on Night Court." Far be it removed for me to question your esthetic style but Ellen Foley can hold her own, IMO..... Thanks Verbal... I didn't know that fact about the female singer. And... But of course!! I have some Grey Poupon mustard!! And it's a good MP3 to boot... Click HERE! but be patient.. it's over 7 meg. sudo
-
Kathy, I'm thinking it was someone else... Rick maybe?... that had the clips. Hmmm.. maybe it was me but I don't think I've still got 'em. I pretty much throw stuff away after a while. Goes back to when my hard drive held only 80 megs. Let me look around, though. sudo
-
Kathy, Why thank you!! I just knew you'd love that song like me. That's Faith Hill and I don't remember hearing that song before. But then.. I don't listen to music radio.. except lite rock at the office. I can remember only two other times that a song playing on the radio really made me take notice like this one did. Total Eclipse Of The Heart about 20 years ago was one, and... get this... Paradise By The Dashboard Light by Meatloaf. :D--> Nobody else here has commented on it so maybe its just you and me who love it, huh?? But then.. good speakers make all the difference in the world for this song, I think. So... I'm still batting a .1000?? sudo
-
Kathy, Re:"I just don't leave here much." That's because we love you down here, you know. Those other threads will use you then toss you away when they're done with you. But The Nostalgia Thread® is the one true thread doncha' know . Hee-hee! I didn't think anyone would know the last one I posted (click HERE!) even though it was a fairly popular show that ran for 4 years in the early 70's. I thought the rhythm of the theme song was similar to the theme song of the star's earlier program. Listening to it again, I really don't know so here's a variation on the theme of the star's first TV show..click HERE!... and see if you think they're at all similar. And Kathy... it does feel like home here, doesn't it?? sudo P.S. So far I've been batting .1000 in guessing what songs you'd like so let's see if I can keep it up. I took two of my kids to see Madagascar yesterday (Ellen is in Europe for two weeks) and when we got out I heard this song playing in the lobby. I had never heard it before but when I got home I googled some of the words and found out what it was. I LOVE this song. This is a big file.. 7 meg.. so give it some time to load and play it on GOOD speakers. Click HERE!!!!

George, Re:"By the way, is there some reason we're not actually mentioning ****** **** -->" Yeah, like Kathy was mentioning.. its sorta' the way we do things here to not give it away just in case someone doesn't know it. In this case?? Looks like everyone knows it's Family Feud. I couldn't understand why it was so popular but I watched it like everyone else it seemed. I was glad to see Hiway29 call Dawson a perv because I couldn't stand all that kissing the women on the lips thingee. And speaking of Richard Dawson... he has a tie-in in this next theme clip. Click HERE! and see if you remember it. Does it seem vaguely familiar for some reason?? :P--> sudo

Ron, Re:"Is that one of those green things you find under your house right after you notice your kids are starting to act a little odd? Act odd? Like they're eating their vegetables? Doing their homework and chores without complaining or even being asked?? If so I have a little advice... DON'T GO TO SLEEP!!!! sudo
