Jonny, I'm not really into prayer. Just telling you this on the front end so you know where I'm coming from.... Why is it that God has to be beseeched to do things? Why not just give you the car since He knows you're moving His Word for Him and all that. No prayer no action?? That always puzzled me even back when I believed in such things. --> sudo

Wasway, I bet the movie would appear just ludicrous today but back then it was considered "disturbing". Good song but until just now, I thought it was Christopher Jones doing the singing. He was sure a flash in the pan, huh? Kathy might not remember but for a while he was a heart throb. Did you guys know there is a web site where you can download old old movies that are out of copy protection for free? Ya'll might want to check them out.. click HERE! There is no link provided to download the movies to your hard drive and if you click on them, they'll simply play in QuickTime or Windows Media Player depending on your computer... howsome-ever you have your media files configured to open. But... if you want to download them, right click anywhere in the page where the movie link is and look at the source code. It'll tell you the location of the file that's being loaded. Then you can just save the link to your hard drive. I downloaded a movie this morning and it took 6 minutes for the entire movie. But it was flying.. averaging about 425 Kbs, the entire file was 173 Meg!! So here's part of the introduction theme, folks. Click HERE! and see if any of it sounds familiar. I intentionally edited some so as not to TOTALLY give it away. sudo

Rick, Aren't the Ramones a punk band formed in the late 70's? I think the movie was made in the late 60's. Nixon and all that. For the record.. I never saw the movie but that song is sure famous. What? No 13th Power? sudo

Hiway, So you know this one?? And knew it before you even heard it?? Hee-hee! You and Wasway must be on the same wave lenght. When I heard it was a TV show from the '80's my heart sunk just a bit as I had already quit watching much TV at that time. But lo and behold if I didn't recognize that theme in the first measure. But what a loooong version!! Running time 2:27. I can't imagine their ever running the whole thin for a 30 minute show. I never remember hearing this line, "...and your husband wants to be a girl". It runs on TV Land?? I don't watch it and my kids are getting too old to watch old fogie stuff. Geeze, I hate that my kids are no longer acting like kids :(-->. I wasn't a big fan but I can tell you who I liked and didn't like. I liked Shelly Long. Didn't care for Rhea nor Kirstie. sudo

Rick, Ohhh.. You're good. I was trying to pull a fast one but you were on to my little tricks, weren't you? It was exactly as you said. I had posted the Chuck Berry version just 'a trying to trick you but YOU posted the good Nat King Cole version like a trooper. Curse you Red Baron!! I'll get you!! And your little dog too!! And oh yes, I like flowers folks. 1KNames has me pegged. I'm a MANLY man: sudo

..........From A Blond.......... Last year I replaced all the windows in my house with those expensive double-pane energy efficient kind. But this week, I got a call from the contractor complaining that his work had been completed a whole year and I had yet to pay for them. Boy, oh boy, did we go around! Just because I'm blonde doesn't mean that I am automatically stupid. So, I proceeded to tell him just what his fast-talking sales guy had told me last year... that in one year the windows would pay for themselves. There was silence on the other end of the line, so I just hung up, and he hasn't called back. Guess he felt really stupid, huh? sudo

Herbal, The 3rd weekend in October is a perfect time!! The temps will be moderate to cool and we'll all have to have something a little warm to wear at night. I have a conflict with the Oak-Reikilady wedding but can attend the weenie roast. Thanks to Ron and Oenophile for the stew compliments. Yes.. I will bring enough better-than-sex stew to feed the whole group the first night as usual. All we need is a location and it doesn't matter to me. sudo
-
Oak and Reikilady, I can't be there. Carol and I are going on a cruise that has been booked for several months now. We chose that time because it fit with our being able to farm the kids out to relatives and friends. I would have been there, too, if there hadn't been a conflict. I bet you guys are going to have a lot of fun. sudo

Hey Rick! I think you missed my song post in response to your clue. You were giving clues about the theme and asked if a certain Nat King Cole song had anything to do with it.. remember?? Click HERE! and tell me if that's what you were thinking of. Geo.. thanks! Yeah they're cute but haven't a clue as to guys' real motives. I've told them and told them about male hormones and what to expect but I think its all fallen on deaf ears. I remember meeting girls' fathers and doing my DANG best of acting nice, respectful and good intentioned . I "yes sired, no sired" them every other sentence and was convinced I had them bamboozled. I have a distinct memory of Mr. Howard chuckling as I was doing my best to impress him with my act. I couldn't figure out what he thought was funny at the time. Wasway.. Uh-huh. It's Jake and Elwood alright but what do you think?? I think they gots nothing on Frankie Laine!! sudo
-
Kathy, If by dreamy you mean Geo Maharris, then you are correct ma'am!! I'm surprised this one was so recognized. Rick, are you referring to this song? Click HERE! Is that the one??? Good tune! George.. we'll be here, I'm sure, when you get back. Are you gonna' post vacation pics?? Here's some of ours.. The spot where Patrick Henry gave his famous speech --> :(-->) are sure to recognize the following (Click HERE!) as we played it and played it ad nauseum back when we were Mirc'ing. But.. what about this one? Click HERE!)

Wasway, Full metal jacket?? What kind of bullets did they use to fight the bad guys back in the West? Hee-hee! Good to see you. In the words of Connor MacLeod, "What kept you? Hee-hee!". I posted Rin-tin-tin so here's one not quite as old. It was one of the first real urban dramas and I recall themes like heroin addiction. Real gritty stuff for the early 60's. Click HERE! sudo (saw the signs for it this past weekend)

Groucho, Re:"I would have to say that "Beam me up Scotty" will last far longer than anything that VP Wierwille or LCM ever said...and remembered by far more people." Because there's nothing deceitful about it. sudo

Dmiller, A little of both. It wasn't great TV but it struck a chord with lots and lots of folks. sudo
-
Yeah, Raf.. Sez something about how a cheaply made cheesy TV sci-fi show with bad acting from the 60's affected foks, I think. sudo

Those who knew.... knew. Yep it was the guy who saw the light, 1knames. And there was a son named Bocepheus, Bluze. None other than Hank Williams Sr. It was my and Carol's first dance at our reception. The Tennesse Waltz. More folks may have heard, been familiar with or even preferred the Patsy Cline version but I think Hank's was first. I've posted it before as a freebie but this was such a good TV show for a little boy back in the 50's. Click HERE! What do little boys watch on TV now-a-days?? Desperate Housewives?? sudo

Hey guys!! We had a great time this weekend and even though I got back late Sunday, I JUST haven't had time to post here... and do justice to it, anyways. We were in Richmond, VA to visit Carol's brother and his new wife then we drove up to The Washington, D.C suburbs for a family reunion. My mother's side. My father's side would have had theirs' in a trailer park in Mississippi had there been one. I hear Jeff Foxworthy doing redneck jokes and I get upset because... he's picking on my daddy's side of the family !!!! Can somebody tell me if Wasway has left entirely?? Geeze, I hate that. Doulosman left us a year or so ago and we never see him anymores. :(--> I don't have a new TV or movie theme but in keeping with blues and other genres here's one everyone knows. Thing is.. so many folks have done it that this might not be familiar to everybody. Click HERE! and name artist, year or whatever you might know. sudo
-
George, Yeah... I think I know. Couldn't fool you, huh?? It was a one man show about one of our Presidents, right?? Hey! I'm off now 'till Monday. Gonna' visit our nation's capital. You guys have fun.. I'll BE BACK SOON!!!!!!! Hee-hee~! sudo
-
Belle, GC was on the right track. You HAVE to guess in order to get more stuff from 'ole Sudo. Don't you ever visit the Nostalgia thread?? :D-->. But because I'm such a magnanimous kind of guy, I'll give you that same song by another artist that is even better. Click HERE! and name the artist. See? Even better than the first one, huh? Now.. anybody into a bunch of guys singing?? Click HERE! and tell me if you recognize it. Oh, I am... such... a ... bad boy. sudo

George, What's a milliner? Is that someone who sells clothes? Ulysses S. Grant tried to run a store before he found other work. Was it similar work?? sudo

Place me in the "I love Christmas" group.. I know lots of folks get bummed out at holiday time. My sister used to get depressed every December but that was back when she was single and lonely. Now, she's a happy mother of two and loves the time. On top of what Chef and TCAT mentioned.. I still love all the Christmas specials on TV. Especially the old ones I've seen a hunnert times. I don't actually watch every minute of them usually but its nice just having them on the TV where I can hear if I'm in the kitchen :D-->. sudo
-
Gospel huh?? Some like contemporary. Some like old timey. Here's one that *I* like because I like 'em old. Click HERE! and see if the artist sounds familiar to you. I degraded it to fit here. I've got the GOOD version if anyone's interested. sudo
-
George, Hey! Wait a minute! This is a trick question isn't it?? A cast with a very... very few people maybe??? Ah-harumph! sudo P.S. Most of you guys are too young to remember THIS one. Click HERE!

Everybody's been so well behaved that... Well, you all get a treat for the weekend. Just click HERE! It's the good stuff.. 320 bit rate MP3. I KNOW there are those who lurk here but never post and they may have a slow dial-up account. Too bad! They have to post to get me to link to a tune they can hear :P-->. Summertime can be slow. And the living easy. Hmmm.. reminds me of a tune but nevermind.. The SudoFamily will be in the Washington, DC area this coming weekend. I was hoping someone would take up the slack in my absences :(-->. sudo

Kathy, Hey.. nothing to make up, my dear. I'm just wondering what its going to take to get Wasway and Rick posting again -->. I've got an oldie that might get Rick to post. I have it on good authority he checks this thread nearly every day yet he doesn't post :(-->. So I have an oldie song he may remember. Click HERE! and name the artist. Lots of artists recorded this song and I remember it well from my college days. Rick is an R&B fan so THIS tune may get him posting again!!! Don't know what its going to take for Wasway. sudo
