Good afternoon all Nostalgics... and Nostalgic wannabes :D-->! I'll have a bit more free time on my hands now that Carol and I have carted off daughter number one to college. I still can't believe that we got a a fully loaded mini-van and the contents of the trunk of a Chrysler placed in that girl's dorm room. Her momma went overboard, IMO. We got her not only a new computer (which I put together BTW from componets) but a notebook, too complete with docking port. And both of them networked (and sharing a combo copier/printer) with a broadband internet connection, Ole Miss provided. We carpeted the dorm room. We put together a book shelf, table lamps, a computer stand, a dang TV set and a comfy chair for her to park her tuccas in. Dorm chairs can be so hard doncha' know -->. It took us hours!! So... now we're one child short and I'm not at all blessed by it :(-->. I might even have more time to hang out HERE!! But I DO have an interesting little ditty that was recorded back in 1968. Way before hardly anyone who made the Lord Of The Rings movies was even born! But here it is, and I'm posting it SPECIFICALLY for Kathy. Why?? Because she knows the artist who did it. So you go Kathy!! Who is it???? Click HERE! sudo

It's hard to be a pack rat, it's hard to be a 'bo, but living's so much harder where the heartless people go. Somewhere the dogs are barking and the children seem to know That Jesus on the highway was a lost hobo. And they hear the holy silence of the temples in the hill, And they see the ragged tatters as another kind of thrill. And they envy him the sunshine and they pity him the chill, And they're sad to do their living for some other kind of thrill.

I gotta' tell 'ya... 'Ole spuds did pretty good for himself. Died at 96 and active until the end. What a life. I had assumed that whoever had done that arrangement for the stooges was long dead. Lots of stars from back then are still with us and I wish I could talk with them for a bit. Shirley Temple for instance. She actually did some adult acting in the 1940's. Man.. the dirt she must know!! sudo

Highway, So we'll finally get to meet. Remember a few years back we were trying to meet up when I was chauffering the family to the beach. Lookie at the list of attendies so far. I'm looking forward to it. And I'm really curious about Jellystone. Sounds like a place I WANT to like! sudo

Kathy, Yes, it's HIM!! What a hoot, huh? I've some related stuff to post.. in fact, 1knames sent me an interesting file, too. But I thought I'd post something else today because of something I heard on the news this afternoon. I know I've posted this not that long ago but I've got my reasons... click HERE! and HERE! Does the name Lyle “Spud†Murphy mean anything?? sudo P.S. Oh, OK.. a link to what I'm talking about.. click HERE!

1Knames, Hee-hee! Now tell me... is that rendition not hysterical?? I mean.. it was done seriously!! sudo
-
Kathy, Did you recognize the voice?? Hmmm??? If not, you will find it pretty funny, I think. Knowing who it is makes it fall down laughing hilarious for a lot of folks. sudo (who sees where you are located)

Evening to all --> Its going to be a lazy Summer weekend around Memphis. Today's high got to 96° today and its supposed to get to 98° tomorrow . But what the heck.. our air-conditioning works just fine so who cares. Still, folks tend to get sluggish around these parts. But I've got a tune that tickled me when I heard it again today. Its a very dramatic rendering of a Beatles tune and I'm wondering how many folks here have ever heard it. Very 60's. Very psychedelic. Click HERE! and enjoy. I understand the album did pretty well, too. Hee-Hee! sudo

Hey! I'm getting a head start on you ladies.. Good Morning everybody!!! sudo

Kathy, Hey!! I wanna' see those pics!! I remember seeing pics of Marilyn in her birthday suit years ago. I'm thinking they were from when she posed for Playboy. You know, Kathy... you could always just post the link to them. You know... for nostalgia's sake :D-->. sudo (remembering those pictures fondly)
-
George, Re:"I was too young to really get into Marilyn (except in the reruns of her movies)." As were most of us here. She died in what? 1962? I was 10 years old and not into yucky girls yet . Isn't there a line like that in Candle In The Wind? Too young to have known her or something?? I've gots a tune that most of you have heard but maybe not the whole thing. Is this where everybody's going to know it before they even click on it? Kathy.. I'm placing it on Rick's server so you can hear it. Click HERE! Sorry I've been gone so long but... and I mean it... I'se been busy!! I had some help but built two new computers Friday and been loading and configuring all weekend. sudo

Tommy, Re:"I still do some file sharing" And what program do you find most effective? I still try to find stuff on file sharing, too. Mainly stuff you CAN'T buy like old movie and TV theme songs but I have had problems with Bearshare and Kaaza as of late. You have any recomendations?? sudo

!'s, Oh, you guys will be back. Sure you say there are more important things in life than posting at the Greasespot. Things like interaction with the kids, job performance and continuing education. But those of us who are HOOKED know that we have to get our Greasespot fix before any of that non-essential stuff :D-->. Ya'll are big contributors here so I'm hoping you won't be gone for long! sudo
-
Rascal, We could all be hanging out by your RV during the day if there's a good place for it. The weather will probably be cool and perfect for having a campfire going. Maybe Hawk will show up with a little pear juice, 'ya think?? sudo
-
Rick, Your computations are correct, sir. It was the mini-series North and South. Carol and I really enjoyed the series but it was a little disappointing because.. I already knew before the ending which side lost :(-->. sudo
-
Rick, I remember Andy doing his Mighty Mouse skit. I don't know why, exactly, but it was pretty funny. Same sort of thing with Steve Martin... why was he funny, exactly?? Coming out on stage wearing a hat with an arrow through it while he played the banjo? Singing King Tut while walking like an Egyptian?? Acting like a nerd in "two wild and crazy guys"?? Was that stuff funny? I laughed until my sides hurt but I can't tell you why! Oh.. the theme I posted no one knew(HERE!)?? It was a mini-series that starred Patrick Swayzee. sudo

Just got my reservation for an efficiency cabin.. Yes, I'll bring my own sheets, blankets and towels but what the hey.. $117.91 for the entire time. Arriving Friday and leaving Sunday morning. Plus if someone wants to bunk with me, THAT cost could be split. Heck, Carol and I spent $161 for just ONE night for a suite at my family reunion a few weeks back. You know... with the money I'm saving.. I might be able to afford to put some beef in my beef stew this year :D-->. sudo
-
I wanna' go to JELLYSTONE!!!!! I love Yogi Bear and Boo Boo! I'd even LET them have my pick-a-nick basket. Looks like we can all have very affordable cabins and yet.. hang out in the campground area during the day. Or maybe the evening, too. You guys can count on me for the stew you DO know. And Rascal.. this year I won't forget the cord to the electric Dutch oven!! :o--> sudo
-
Kathy... gotta' make this quick.. try clicking HERE! Hi Tom!! You think it was a publicity stunt?? :D--> sudo (wondering why Kathy is having problems with lroom)
-
Kathy, I know it too but I can still guess can't I? I liked the show but wasn't just overly crazy about the theme song. Oh, it was OK but best theme song ever? Hmmmm... It's a matter of tastes, I guess. Some folks likes de blues and some folks don't. I'm cooking a pot of Lima beans downstairs as I type this boy oh boy am I going to enjoy them later! Its Summer time, the fish are jumping and the cotton is high. That means fresh veggies and slow meandering attitudes. But I digress.. Here's one of my favorite TV themes. Click HERE! and see if it sounds familiar. I've posted it before and mentioned the screaming French horns (my instrument when I was in the school band) but that was a while ago. Favorite TV themes.. that would be a good idea to explore :)--> sudo P.S. Uh, sorry, Rick.. the show was set in New York city, right? And the actor who played my favorite character died young??
-
Kathy, For me?? 6 weeks. :P--> sudo

1KNames, Another pick-a-nick basket??? sudo

Belle, Jellystone Park looks great to me. Location, Mammouth cave, amenities, price is right. Easy to get to. I vote for Cave City!! sudo
-
Kathy, I'm glad you got to hear it but in case anybody else is having problems click HERE! to listen from another server. Hiway29 heard a familiar snippet.. anyone else? Glad you're having a great morning there in O-Hi-O. I've spent several weeks in Ohio this time of year. Actually, it was more like a week later than this... the 2nd week in August -->. Yep, it gets chilly at night doesn't it?? sudo

Bliss, You're in a difficult situation. Do you still believe the teachings of The Way but want to leave because of the corruption? Are you and your husband likeminded on this? Fill us in a little bit more and let's see what we can come up with! :D--> sudo
