Kathy, My my.. so many things being talked about at once that it reminds me of when my family all gets together. Which we will be doing this weekend... being Labor Day and all and my oldest comes home from college to boot. Gonna' cook out and do plenty of talking Ole Miss football and whatnot. Are we through talking Mary Poppins? I have to agree with Geo Aar on a lot of what he said.. it was a strange movie, IMO. Very Disney like in appearance but un-Disney like in content. Is everyone familiar with Marni Nixon now? A real musical talent presented to us by StGeorge. Did ya'll see that she was actually BEFORE the cameras singing in Sound Of Music?? Oh, Kathy.. you wanted that music file conversion program.. just go to http://www.dbpoweramp.com and download the latest version. You'll want to take a LOT of time to look around that site so you learn about codecs (and go to Codec Central) to convert your music files. It takes a while but I'm still learning about DVD's and video codecs. And believe me... video is FAR more involved than audio. So that was the Bluzeman his-very-own-self playing that song you posted, huh?? He's not half bad. I've got a few new things to post but I'll let the dust settle first! sudo

Paw, I've lost hearing, too. Particularly my left ear which is closer to the drill when I'm bending over. Occupational hazzard but I don't wear earplugs either. But what the heck.. Now if it were my sight that were going... I'd be upset!!! sudo
-
St.George, We have two Georges here so to make sure there's no mistake.. I'm addressing you as St.George. The other Geo. here might object to being labled a "saint" ;)-->. Thanks for the info on Marni. I was already well aware of her talents but most folks are not aware of all the dubbing that goes on. Hiway29 could probably give us plenty more on that issue. sudo
-
Wasway, And how did you know the song and Les Paul and all?? And furthermore.. uh ... who is Les Paul? A blues artist perhaps?? Hey Wasway.. good to see your font down here again -->. sudo
-
Kathy, So... you want to play again??? sudo
-
Kathy, Like I said... I just don't get it about Mr. Bloom. Some actors appeal to both sexes, and some more to one than the other. Take Sean Connery fer instance. Guys like him just fine. In fact, I would think he would be a fun guy to have at a Super bowl party. The ladies think he's sexy... even as an old coot. But Orlando?? Most guys are scratching their heads wondering what the girls see in him. sudo P.S. Yeah.. I *DID* see who posted there but didn't post here -->

Hey guys.. I've got to make this quick. I've been meaning to post this for two days now but have really been too busy. So rather than wait until tomorrow,, here 'tis.. Click HERE!. This is mainly for Kathy since she requested it :P--> sudo

Kathy, Re:"It was neat seeing Adios wasn't it!" Of course. I was so hoping she would join us down here on the Nostalgia thread. It's been at least two years since we've seen her and she added so much. But alas.. other lives... other committments. Yes.. it was a neat sound file (HERE!) wasn't it?? I'm telling you, you need to play that on your good speakers because you'll miss the big cathedral organ and bass if you don't. Great tune. sudo

Kathy, The weekend! Yes.. cute. How folks live just for the weekends and I'm finding myself more that way now that my firstborn is off to college. We get to see her on some weekends. Those pics from Mary Poppins?? That was a strange movie. What was Mary Poppins exactly? A witch? It seemed that maybe she didn't age. And what was her relationship with Bert who was a mere mortal? Was this a movie to be taken on different levels if you were a child or an adult? Here's a tune from a Disney movie and though its not heard much.. its my favorite song from said afore-mentioned movie :)-->. I'm posting the good MP3 version because I don't think any posters on this thread use dial-up any longer so it doesn't matter. Click HERE! Wasway has chided me about posting large files like this but sadly he has forsaken us for other forums it appears :(-->. But if anyone would prefer for me to make these files smaller, I can do that. They just sound better if not reduced. Time was.. Rick, Wasway and I HAD to reduce these files because 90% of us had only dial up internet accounts. That was a long long time ago... about two years :P-->. At least Rick says he's checking in here nearly every day even if he doesn't post. sudo

Adios, Howdy howdy, girl! Now you stick around a while OK? I know you Navy families just love the Tidewater area of Virginia but you may get used to corn fields. Uh, does this move mean that hubby is leaving the Navy? I've been fooling around with my DVD drive and software on the computer. For those of you with a high speed internet connection, click HERE! for the video of the tune I posted from Priates Of The Carribean. It'll wait a few seconds to download as it plays but if you just wait.... it should be smooth. It rips from the DVD as a 22meg file. I thought I was doing good to get it down to 6 and change :D-->. Hey! I'm just fooling around. Can everybody see it alright?? sudo

Irisheyes, I see your name here and think of that great tune, "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling". I bet you're close to my age to have picked that name and I'm 53 next month. So many of us ex-TWI folks are in our 50's now, huh? I see where you're coming from though from your last post.. "And straight up let me say that I believe God's bigger than the devil and He has the ability to protect His Word for us." That tells me what you will consider to be the truth and THAT makes it tough for you, I think. Because anyway you look at it, dead people came out of where they were dead (and buried) and walked around showing folks who KNEW they were dead that they were now alive. You can't get around it.. that's what it says. Its in all the texts. Evidently only some of the saints got to be brought back to life. So what were the criteria for who got raised and who didn't? And how were there saints before the day of Pentacost anyhow? No one was born again until then, right? So these raised from the dead people couldn't have been born again, right? You see, Irisheyes, it's screwy and pretty bizarre. But you believe God protects his Word. Dr. Wierwille had no problems throwing out lots of verses and parts of verses from the King James Bible because they were errors made while transcribers copied from older texts. Or because transcibers added or changed a word to make it more understandable. But Dr. Wierwille also said lots of places in the King James Bible were deliberate forgeries, remember? So how well protected is God's Word?? Well, evidently, to get to the REAL God breathed Word, you not only need the PFAL class which we all took, but you need people who can read Greek to help with these difficult verses. Sometimes even that isn't enough because to get to the real truth.. you have to see what Lamsa had to say in the Aramaic version of the Bible. In short, Irisheyes.. you have a problem because there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of protection that God gave His Word, does there? Every version is different and all the experts disagree. What I sense you're really looking for here is an opinion on these Matthew verses by somebody who also sees other verses AS YOU DO!! That way, that person's opinion carries more weight than the opinion of even a noted Bible scholar who though world reknown and respected and has spent years studying the ancient languages still believes some non-Way doctrine thereby disqualifying his opinion on any matter in your mind. Am I correct or am I off base here? Good luck and happy hunting. We're all tickled to see you posting here and maybe someday you'll get the answer to the real question you are really asking... what is the truth? sudo

Irisheyes, The real problem with Matthew 27:51-53 is that there is no reason nor evidence to throw it out as forgery. Tell you what you do.. stick it in a search engine like Google and you'll see where Bible believing scholars HAVE to defend it. Why? Because its in the very earliest texts. But don't take my word for it.. go ahead and use Google or Yahoo! or any other search engine you like. I'm a PFAL grad from 1978 and I don't believe VPW covered this at all. How could he? It doesn't "fit". But then lotsa' things don't "fit". That's why there are over 10,000 Christian denominations. Thought you'd want to know. sudo

Hiway29, Re:"They are currently making 2 (!) sequels to that movie theme." Yes indeed they are and I can hardly wait!! What could be more fun than a movie with swashbuckling at every turn, buxom ladies nearly bursting out of their corsets, magnificent photography, no filthy language and a sound score reminiscent of Korngold?? What's not to like?? Click on the poster to listen again!! sudo

Hiway29, Re:"Sadly, my dog Amber is no longer with me." Man, that hurts. I've had to put down only a few beloved pets in my lifetime but its a very painful task. I don't care what anyone says.. I'm telling you its like losing a friend. Worse if its not a very close friend. sudo

George knows! .. George knows! Kathy.. It's good news to me that your hubby and neighbor would get excited about the B-17 Flying Fortress. I had an uncle who flew the B-24 Liberator and was shot down behind enemy lines in Belgium 1943. He was MIA for over a year before the underground was able to smuggle him back to England. The Confederate Air Force flies WWll vintage aircraft here in the Memphis area and periodically holds airshows. There are only a handful of B-17 and B-24 bombers still flying today. I considered myself privileged to have been given a tour through a B-17 about 10 years ago. It was so tiny compared to the WWll movies I'd seen!! Having said all that, it makes discussion of Orlando Bloom seem so trivial, huh? But looking at the pic you posted, Kathy, I can't keep from asking.... What's the big whoop over Orlando Bloom?? I mean.. the guy looks so.... ordinary to me --> sudo

Hiway29, Ahh! Nice website! I didn't know you had one but its a good thing because you are obviously very talented. And I saw one thing that made me think of the following... Click HERE! and see ifit sounds familiar because.. you worked for a company that produced it. And yeah yeah, I know classical sounding themes isn't everybody's cup of tea but this was such an entertaining movie, IMO. The visuals that went with this music were stunning but I can't post those easily. I, uh, ripped the music from the DVD we own :D--> sudo

Hiway29, You are really a wealth of information on the inner goings on in Hollywood. I'm really glad you post as you do. Are you ever going to post any of your more famous animated drawings?? sudo

Wayfer Not, 'Fraid so... You'll be needing a little bit of help from now on out. :D--> sudo

Interesting isn't it?? How far we've come from our beliefs when we were all in agreement while in TWI? Those who still believe as they did then are at a paltry 21% though total Christianity still rates a majority 67%. Amazing, the number checking atheist/agnostic because its far above the number in the general population. Of course, these numbers could be skewed by who decides to come to a place like Greasespot. I know of people in Memphis who believe just as they did 20-25 years ago in TWI. They no longer associate with TWI but fellowship with others who still believe theologically as they do. And they wouldn't darken the door of a place like Greasespot where VPW is spken of in derisive terms. sudo

Live and learn... Kathy's a Trekkie! I like the series, too. Another thing about Majel Barret.. she is the voice of the computer in all of the series. How 'bout that? And can you hardly believe that Star Trek started *40* years ago next year?? It's pretty amazing also that only two of the original main cast members have died. James Doohan (Scotty) and Deforest Kelly (Bones). It was a great show but probably ended at about the right time. I can imagine that a 4th season would have had lots more political references in it as a sign of what America was going through. sudo

A man wonders if having sex on the Sabbath is a sin because he is not sure if sex is work or play. So he goes to a priest and asks for his opinion on this question. After consulting the Bible, the priest says, "My son, after an exhaustive search, I am positive that sex is work and is therefore not permitted on Sundays." The man thinks: "What does a priest know about sex?" So he goes to a minister, who after all is a married man and experienced in this matter. He queries the minister and receives the same reply. "Sex is work and therefore not for the Sabbath!" Not pleased with the reply, he seeks out a Rabbi, a man bearing thousands of years of tradition and knowledge. The Rabbi ponders the question, then states, "My son, sex is definitely play." The man replies! "Rabbi, how can you be so sure when so many others tell me sex is work?" The Rabbi softly speaks, "My son, if sex was work, my wife would have the maid do it." :D-->

Kathy, Hee-hee! You *DO* have a real talent for finding pics on the internet. That one of Shatner... just a hoot!! sudo
