LG, Here's another one I got from Snopes.com In Brooklyn, New York, Chush is a school that caters to children with learning disabilities. Some children remain in Chush for their entire school career while others can transfer into conventional schools. At a Chush fund-raising dinner the father of a Chush child delivered a speech that always be remembered by all who attended. After extolling the school and its dedicated staff he cried out, "Where is the perfection in my son Shaya? Everything God does is done with perfection. But my child cannot understand things as other children do. My child cannot remember facts and figures as other children do. Where is God's perfection?" The audience was shocked by the question, pained by the father's anguish and stilled by the piercing query. "I believe," the father answered, "that when God brings a child like this into the world the perfection that he seeks is in the way people react to this child." He then told the following story about his son Shaya: One afternoon, Shaya and his father walked past a park where some boys whom Shaya knew were playing baseball. Shaya asked, "Do you think they will let me play?" Shaya's father knew that his son was not at all athletic and that most boys would not want him on their team. But Shaya's father also understood that if his son was chosen to play it would give him a comfortable sense of belonging. Shaya's father approached one of the boys in the field and asked if Shaya could play. The boy looked around for guidance from his team mates. Getting none, he took matters into his own hands and said "We are losing by six runs and the game is in the eighth inning. I guess he can be on our team and we'll try to put him up to bat in the ninth inning." Shaya's father was ecstatic as Shaya smiled broadly. Shaya was told to put on a glove and go out to play short centre field. In the bottom of the eighth inning Shaya's team scored a few runs but was still behind by three. In the bottom of the ninth inning Shaya's team scored again and now, with two outs and the bases loaded with the potential winning run on base, Shaya was scheduled to be up. Would the team actually let Shaya bat at this juncture and give away their chance to win the game? Surprisingly, Shaya was given the bat. Everyone knew that it was all but impossible because Shaya didn't even know how to hold the bat properly, let alone hit with it. However, as Shaya stepped up to the plate, the pitcher moved a few steps to lob the ball in softly so Shaya should at least be able to make contact. The first pitch came and Shaya swung clumsily and missed. One of Shaya's team mates came up to Shaya and together they held the bat and faced the pitcher waiting for the next pitch. The pitcher again took a few steps forward to toss the ball softly toward Shaya. As the pitch came in, Shaya and his team mate swung at the ball and together they hit a slow ground ball to the pitcher. The pitcher picked up the soft grounder and could easily have thrown the ball to the first baseman. Shaya would have been out and that would have ended the game. Instead, the pitcher took the ball and threw it on a high arc to right field, far beyond reach of the first baseman. Everyone started yelling, "Shaya, run to first. Run to first." Never in his life had Shaya run to first. He scampered down the baseline wide eyed and startled. By the time he reached first base the right fielder had the ball. He could have thrown the ball to the second baseman who would tag out the still-running Shaya. But the right fielder understood what the pitcher's intentions were so he threw the ball high and far over the third baseman's head. Everyone yelled, "Run to second, run to second." Shaya ran towards second base as the runners ahead of him deliriously circled the bases towards home. As Shaya reached second base the opposing short stop ran to him, turned him in the direction of third base and shouted, "Run to third." As Shaya rounded third the boys from both teams ran behind him screaming, "Shaya run home." Shaya ran home, stepped on home plate and all 18 boys lifted him on their shoulders and made him the hero as he had just hit a "grand slam" and won the game for his team. "That day," said the father softly with tears now rolling down his face, "those 18 boys reached their level of God's perfection." sudo

Hi all, Real quick.. I'm off to Ole Miss to see our butts beat by Alabama. Gonna' have a great time in the grove how-some-ever. I'll be back late.. will try to post another one. If'n any of yous wants to put something up in the meantime.. be my guest. sudo P.S. Kathy gots it now, too!!!
-
How 'bout calling up grocery stores and asking them if they had Sir Walter Raleigh in a can?? Those under 50 years old won't get it. sudo
-
Kathy, Ahhh! But Ala DOES know it!! Good for her. And of course Hiway29 knows it. Lessee who else.. but in the meantime.. maybe a few other things (Ala and Hiway29 can jump in here anytime they want to) this movie is considered one of the best movies ever made. How's THEM apples, huh? Me personally?? I never saw what the big whoop was all about. Then someone said it was all about camera angles and lighting or somesuch. Heck, the star of the movie (who was also the director) was only 25 years old at the time and let the cinematographer and others make those camera decisions as he was more a theatre kind of guy. Not into the technical aspects. sudo

Mooney, That's OK.. I wouldn't have known it either. I got the tune and thought I'd post it just because I liked it. Something sexy about a Tango, IMO. It's that Brad Pitt Angelina Jolie movie.. Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Not exactly nostalgia anyways, huh? But I've got something interesting to post this morning. One advantage to having a DVD recorder hooked to my TV set and a DVD burner on my computer is... I can playback on my computer, movies I record off TV! I can then take snippets of the movie (both audio AND video) and post them here! This is from a very famous movie from back in the 40's. And I'm going to guess one thing... no one here will know this movie at first.... but by the end, 90% will know it. Click HERE! and let's see how good I guessed! sudo
-
Morning back at 'ya Kathy! I guess no one else saw the movie. But YOU recognized it! sudo
-
George and Ala, It's the last one posted up a few posts but just to show what a nice guy I am... I'll post it again. It's a tango from a movie and Kathy knows it. Me? I'm a sucker for tangos. Click HERE! sudo

A chicken and an egg are lying in bed. The chicken is leaning against the headboard smoking a cigarette with a satisfied smile on its face. The egg, looking a bit purturbed, grabs the sheet, rolls over and says, "Well, I guess we finally answered THAT question now didn't we." sudo

Kathy, You have the right movie. Now I'll let YOU give some helpful hints! sudo
-
Kathy, Mooney, Ala etc... You ladies get another chance. If you saw the movie you should remember this next one. Click HERE! and see if if sounds familiar. OK.. I'm on a tango kick but gawd.. nothing much sexier than a lady in black dancing the tango. sudo
-
Rick, Glad you liked it. You deserved something special on your birthday!!! sudo
-
Many of those situations had to have involved broken bones and internal injuries. Yeah... that's tough to watch! sudo
-
Belle, I can assure you that I WANTED to be there. I was really looking forward to Jellystone, too. So tell me this... is the place a keeper?? Would you want to do it there again next year?? sudo
-
Belle and Wacky... Great comfort foods for cold days. I do both of you guys' suggestions... Beef stew (though I brown the meat to deep mahogany first for flavor) AND tomato soup with grilled cheese sandwiches. We have lots of cooks around the Greasespot and I'm sure to pick up some ideas.... and yes Likeaeagle, I'm the cook around our house. So a tip or two of my own. Belle.. try Campbell's Tomato Bisque. It's a lot more expensive than their regular tomato soup but worth it, IMO. Oh, and by all means make it with MILK not water. And if you want it really yummy, make it with half and half. And the grilled cheese sandwiches?? Try a flavorful (not tasteless Mozzerella type) soft cheese like Fontina. It was really popular about 35 years ago when fondue was a fad. A young or aged Gouda makes a good grilled cheese, too, but doesn't melt as well. sudo

Wasway, Didaja' listen to the tune?? Maybe not a Tango fan?? Here's the first one I posted that I had edited for lenght (click HERE!) and here's the album cut before any editing... click HERE! George.. you might know it but had you ever heard this cut from it? And you know... I THOUGHT I was doing this one for the ladies. Heck, it starred Nicole Kidman so it can hardly be called nostalgia. Here I am just trying to find out what Kathy, Mooney and the others listen to and watch. sudo

First off.. A birthday tune for our own Bluzeman... here's to you, Rick. One of the top rated blues songs of all time.. Mr. Leadbelly himself. Click HERE! I hope you like it! sudo

Likeaeagle, I saw the topic..Cold Weather Comfort Foods and I was going to post my chilli recipe but lo and behold you had already had chilli in your post. Well, if you want easy I'd suggest Rotel® dip. One lb of Velveeta® cheese cut up into little pieces and pour the Rotel® (cut-up tomatoes and chillis) over it... place it in the microwave... nuke it for about 4 minutes... stir it around and nuke it again for a few minutes. Then lap it up with Frito-Lay® 's tostito chips. Why Frito-Lay® ?? Because they have no hydrogenated trans fats in them. All the other chips (nationally) are loaded with artery clogging trans fats. I'm all for comfort foods but by golly, they don't have to be bad for your health!! And Rotel® dip?? It's a big hit at parties, too! sudo

Raf, I hear you, bro., but its OK. See... those devil spirits don't know we're down here in the M,M,H forum. They spend all their time up in the Open and Doctrinal forums where Mike hangs out. They're so busy getting him that they never come down here. So we can say whatever we want and it's "covered". sudo

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BLUZEMAN DUDE!!!!!!
How 'bout that?? You're only 10 days younger than I am!! We'll have to come up with a special song 'fer 'ya!!
sudo

Ladies, Look.. I'm getting the feeling ya'll aren't having a good time guessing stuff around here so I've got one just for you. It's not that old a movie... and just a so-so movie at that.... But.. it had this song in it that I loved. If you all aren't that familiar with ballroom dancing I'll clue you in this much.. it's a Tango. Carol and I took some ballroom dance lessons several years back and I'm telling you.. the Tango is a FUN dance. You'll hear the set-up but the guy has fallen in love with a prostitute and he's begging her not to go out. Hear the angst? The torment? I've edited it a bit for lenght but.. click HERE! and name the movie! sudo P.S. I've left it in a good MP3 format so if you guys have good speakers... turn 'em up!! sudo

Krys, Honestly?? I've never considered big boobs that big an attraction. There are some women who wear them well, I admit, but most large chested women I see??? My first thought is wondering if they have back problems. I'm with Geo on one thing.. the extra poundage needs to come off. Not for esthetics alone but for health reasons. sudo

Kathy, Ha Ha right back at you. Now, did you ever see The Treasure Of The Sierra Madre? If not.. and you're in the movie renting mood. THAT is one movie I suggest you rent and StGeorge... if you've never watched a Bogie movie all the way through.. Go over to Kathy's house when she rents the movie to watch it . It's a great film and I think Bogie's best acting job. Geo.. you're pretty dang sharp. Here's another clip from the movie. Click HERE! Is there any doubt as to who the actor is? And yes.. Sydney Greenstreet is also in the cast so we also know its a Warner Bros. flick. Hiway29... you out there this weekend?? sudo
-
Peruser, Hee-hee! You should be answering questions on the Nostalgia thread!! sudo
-
How about an oldie quote?? Click HERE! and name the actor if you can't quite remember which movie. Yes, it was a classic but I had a hard time following the story line myself. Great ending, though... along the lines of the ending to Treasure Of The Sierra Madre, doncha' think?? sudo P.S. I could get into decadent, Ala :P
