1. Lorna!! HAPPY B'DAY!!! It's good to have a day where everyone at the Greasespot is thinking of you!!!
sudo
P.S. Out&About hasn't checked in for years now :(
2. Dear Beloved in Christ. It is by the grace of God that I received Christ, having known the truth, I had no choice than to do what is lawful and just in the sight of God for eternal life and in the sight of man for witness of God & His Mercies and glory upon my life. I am Mrs.Mary Parker, the wife of Mr Robert Parker, my husband worked with the Chevron/Texaco in Kenya for twenty years before he died in the year 2003.We were married for ten years without a child. My Husband died after a brief illness that lasted for only four days. Before his death we both got born-again and dedicated christians. Since his death I decided not to re-marry or get a child outside my matrimonial home which the Bible is strongly against. When my late husband was alive he deposited the sum of US$7.5 Million.(Seven Million Five Hundred Thousand U.S.Dollars) with a Bank in Europe. Presently, this money is still with the Bank and the management just wrote me as the beneficiary that our account has been DORMANT and if I, as the beneficairy of the funds, do not re-activate the account; the funds will be CONFISCATED or I rather issue a letter of authorization to somebody to receive it on my behalf (note that you need to activate this account) as I can not come over. Presently, I'm in a hospital in Kenya where I have been undergoing treatment for esophageal cancer. I have since lost my ability to talk and my doctors have told me that I have only a few weeks to live. It is my last wish to see this money distributed to charity organizations anywhere in the World. Because relatives and friends have plundered so much of my wealth since my illness, I cannot live with the agony of entrusting this huge responsibility to any of them. Please, I beg you in the name of God to help me Stand-in as the beneficiary and collect the Funds from the Bank. I want a person that is God-fearing who will use this money to fund churches, orphanages and widows propagating the word of God and to ensure that the house of God is maintained. The Bible made us to understand that blessed is the hand that giveth. I took this decision because I don't have any child that will inherit this money and my husband's relatives are not Christians and I don't want my husband's hard earned money to be misused by unbelievers. I don't want a situation where this money will be used in an ungodly manner. Hence the reason for taking this bold decision.I am not afraid of death since I know where I am going to. I know that I am going to be in the bosom of the Lord. {Exodus14 VS14}says that the lord will fight my case and I shall hold my peace. I don't need any telephone communication in this regard because of my soundless voice and presence of my husband's relatives around me always.I don't want them to know about this development. With God all things are possible. BELOVED ONE REPLY TO MY PRIVATE EMAIL: maryparker_60@walla.com Your Sister in Christ, Mrs.Mary Parker. sudo (just got this today in e-mail )
3. Why in the world couldn't they have this game on a SATURDAY night instead of Sunday?? Who wants to party on Sunday knowing they have to get up and go to work early Monday morning. sudo
4. OK youngsters.. Here's one I don't think we've ever talked about and discussed. I've picked it because it was popular in 1973.. when lots of folks here were really into TV.Click HERE! and have at it. sudo

2005 DARWIN AWARDS

Chas, You're probably right. Being juvies, they most likely had their hands smacked. Not too HARD mind you as that would be not only be cruel and unusual punishment but "beating" children which is an afront to civilized society. They SHOULD be serving 5-10. We SHOULDN'T be tolerating that kind of crime... even by juvies. sudo

how to treat a woman

Wayfernot, Yeah.. I just thought it was funny... and I'm one of those one-gal-at-a-time kind of guys, too. sudo
7. George, If you would like to have WMP open the sound files, go to a downloaded sound file somewhere on your computer. Right click on it and choose the option 'open with'. Then two things... first instead of just choosing WMP that you'll see as a choice, select 'choose program'. That will bring up a window where not only can you chose WMP but also check that box that says 'always use the selected program to open this kind of file'. Do that for WAV, MP3 and M4a files to have WMP open all of them and goodbye long download times!! sudo
8. Here's another show he appeared in that I believe Bluzeman is familiar with. Funny, how the memory works, isn't it? This one (like so many quality shows) was critically acclaimed but not successful commercially. Click HERE! Now I'm getting a better time frame for shows Kathy and Abigail would have watched. He seemed to be just the nicest guy and wonder if he was that way in real life. I didn't think of him as a fine actor but at least two actresses name him as their favorite actor: Mariette Hartley and Loni Anderson, both having worked with him on "The Incredible Hulk" (1978). sudo P.S. George, you're saying you have to wait for the entire download before your Windows Media Player starts playing? Yeah, if so, I can see where that would be aggravating. It should open and start playing nearly immediately if you're using Internet Explorer. Mozilla's Firefox DOES make you wait. But if you're using Windows Media player and Internet Explorer that shouldn't be happening. Maybe we can tinker with the settings. :)
9. One for the ladies.. It seems like we're always posting from TV shows that mostly little boys watched, am I right? Well, here's one that mostly little GIRLS watched. Yeah, I watched it some but it really wasn't my thing.. the TV must have been tuned to that station and I had no choice but to watch. Either watch TV or do homework. What would YOU have done? Click HERE! and see if you know it. What? It doesn't sound familiar? This was a big TV show in the middle 1960's folks. Though the male lead died of lung cancer some years back the female lead is still amongst us. sudo
10. Garth, I could have sworn you said you were a believer. Albeit of the liberal variety. Was I mistaken or is this a new stance for you? I see your points about eliminating religion but putting it into a broader light.. wouldn't it be nice to eliminate war and world hungar as beautiful miss-america-wanna-bees would have it? Rather than dismiss it... why not have it as the ultimate goal? I mean.. geo is right 100%: "Lordy people, the Twin towers weren't knocked down by crazed evolutionists or devious, god-rejecting secular humanists. A great deal of the earth-shattering destructiveness we deal with today is a DIRECT result of one bone-headed religious zealotry or another. Isn't it about time somebody tried to stem the tide of superstitious nonsense?" sudo (hee-hee! crazed evolutionists!)

how to treat a woman

Rules for a happy man and strangely enough all require the assistance or presence of a woman. 1. It's important to have a woman who helps at home, who cooks from time to time, cleans and has a job. 2. It's important to have a woman who can make you laugh. 3. It's important to have a woman who you can trust and who doesn't lie to you. 4. It's important to have a woman who is good in bed and who likes to be with you. 5. It's very, very important that these four women don't know each other. sudo
12. Kathy, That's a fairly recent version isn't it? Is it from a movie version or something? I know one thing... its not the original one that sounded so spooky when I was a little fella'. sudo
13. George, Like Rick was saying, we get off on tangents around here but think about this... we've been doing the Nostalgia thread for nearly 5 years now. How many old TV shows and movies could we do every day? So what its turned into is a sort of.. do a little "old TV" and movies and a mish mash of tunes nostalgic "in general". And what we love about nostalgia stuff is the "warm fuzzies" it gives us all. So... that leads to even not-so-old songs that we like because, well, we like them. The problem is then... what one person LOVES in not-so-old music, another person HATES. So what we try to do is have a little diversion and then get back to *SERIOUS* business!! Old stuff. Another thing, too George is that once folks learn how to post songs (and it takes a bit to learn it) its easy to get carried away at first. Hey... have YOU ever considered posting a tune or two?? Hmmmm??? Here's an old TV series made in the 50's that is rare today in that the star of the show is still alive! and doing quite well, it appears. I love the song. Just listen to the harmony! Click on the star's picture to hear it. I'm the oldest regular here and am probably the only one who remembers watching this show. Oh! I forgot.. Ted may be tuning in. He's got me beat by a year or two . sudo
14. George, Re:"I'm glad you posted it as a wav file. I probably would have skipped it if it were another mp3 or m4a!" I'm glad you told me that, George. Lately I've been kind of lazy in posting tunes because I thought everyone here had a broadband connection so it didn't really matter if they were huge files or not. Back when we started doing the Nostalgia thread, those of us who posted tunes ALWAYS converted the files to a lower quality WAV format so people with dial-up could hear them right off. But as more and more folks got broadband... I didn't take the care I once did in converting the files. I'm surprised everyone knew Roger Whittaker. He sings songs from another generation. A generation represented by Ala Prochaine's Radio Sweethearts. In that light, I have two to post for those who feel drawn to the America of those times. Click HERE! I'll tell you this much...it's Benny Goodman. And to compliment it.. Click HERE! Does it bring a lump to your throat? sudo
15. Ala, I'm going to take a chance here because of that song you posted... Radio Sweethearts... and bet you're a sentimentalist. Kathy and Mooney have known this about me fer a long time. So I'm posting this song which I don't expect anyone to know... but it has my instrument.. French horns.. it has sentimentality. And I'm posting it because I think I may not be the only one who really likes it. I've degraded the quality for posting purposes but I have the good version to post if anyone wants it... its just that its over 9 meg in size. Click HERE! sudo

Probably no one ELSE is thinking like me here but my first thought was... Man, No problem getting an I.V into one of THOSE veins!! sudo
17. Cool, What? Did I say I was offended? Maybe you read a post I missed. I don't think we need links to male sculptures in a urinating contest. sudo
18. Guys, That's pretty lame. What's the point here? Is that supposed to be funny or something. I don't think we need links like that here in the Open Forum personally. sudo
19. Ted, Oh OK... Kathy gets a raise. As of this moment I'm DOUBLING what I'm paying her now! Are you happy now??? Kathy, Now that you have your big raise more things are expected out of you. What? You don't like Ricky Nelson anymore? Here's a song that was probably released about that same year... 1957. Click HERE! and name the crooner! Hey Ted! Jump in here, guy. I bet YOU know it too. sudo
20. I was shocked, confused, bewildered as I entered Heaven's door, Not by the beauty of it all, by the lights or its decor. But it was the folks in Heaven who made me sputter and gasp the thieves, the liars, the sinners, the alcoholics, the trash. There stood the kid from seventh grade who swiped my lunch money twice. Next to him was my old neighbor who never said anything nice. Herb, who I always thought was rotting away in hell, was sitting pretty on cloud nine looking incredibly well. I nudged Jesus, "What's the deal? I would love to hear Your take. How'd all these sinners get up here? God must've made a mistake. And why's everyone so quiet, so somber? Give me a clue." "Hush, child," said He. "They're all in shock. No one thought they'd see you." sudo
21. Hi George! Aren't YOU the world traveler?? I'm envious I'll have you know so enjoy yourself and don't drink too much sake. sudo
22. Wasway, Was she a real honey in her day?? sudo
23. Bliss, That BC who called you after a year... Did ya'll start up the friendship again? Or at least do a lot of talking on the phone? What happened to the guy? sudo
24. Ala, I find Celtic songs' lyrics hard to understand but I *LOVE* that song you posted... Radio Sweethearts. I mean, it almost brings a tear to my eye. Sorry, Rick... your Irish song wasn't exactly my type either but you know what?? It's been GREAT hearing all this music! However, Radio Sweethearts is a permanent keeper on my hard drives. Oh, I do have one Celtic song I can post. It's about a couple of lassies who get curious as to what a Scotsman DOESN'T wear under his kilt! Click HERE sudo
25. Bliss, Re:"My point was to show that "if things have changed"....then they WOULD have called and checked on us." You had already called the folks you were close to, right? So these others who didn't call... ya'll weren't particularly close to anyways? Right? I don't know if *I* would have called you up either if I didn't know you that well. The same thing goes on in churches, 'ya know. I don't think I've EVER called up someone who left our church and asked them what was up. If Carol and I had been close to them we already knew what was going on. Bliss... I know this is a stressful time for you and I'm not wanting to make things difficult or confrontational here for you. I wish you and your family the best of luck. You'll need it with some family in.... and some out. We left in about '87 ourselves and as I hear it, TWI had gotten so much more controlling after we left. Hey! I've got a question for you! Does TWI still teach "Mark and Avoid" as doctrine towards those who have left? You see.. they started that M & A thingee after we had already left! sudo
