1. Hiway29, Whoa! I'm impressed with how you knew Kathy's. Like Kathy, I never watched it either. So you visited Angela's shop, huh? Does she give autographs? Kisses and hugs? My family and I are going to be doing Disneyland next week! Kathy, Re:"..CD set of the 60's I just bought on impulse while standing in line at Best Buy." They know how to put this stuff right under your nose to make you buy, huh?? Here's on I remember from the 50's. It's a soap opera that I don't think even comes on any more but I remember my mother ironing in front of the TV set watching this show. Hear the organ? All the soaps used to have an organ. And it would blast at a dramatic moment! Click HERE! sudo
2. Mark, But of course Goldie. I remember how she danced in that bikini on Laugh in. Ummm.. but lookie at Rita as Gilda in the 1946 movie... sudo
3. Tom, Yes, there was an older sister. And another wife, too!!! Here's the IMDB file, click HERE! I thought Angela Cartwright was the prettiest girl I had ever seen. Rusty Hamer comitted suicide and I had just seen him interviewed on TV not long before. It was a show on what had happened to former child actors. He still looked pretty much like he did as a child. Unlike Jerry Mathers. I wonder how they explained the second wife??? sudo
4. Mark, Ummmm.. Rita Hayworth. Gilda. sudo P.S. The ladies in my office yammer away about Brad and Jen, Tom and whoever and pore over People magazine. Hard for me to get into it.
5. Kathy, Those versions BOTH sound so cleaned up. I listened to that song on AM radio through a 3" speaker. I had to stop and think if that was the original song or a re-make. So that's the original, huh? Cowgirl... does anyone else up your way listen to songs about the South? And Country and Western radio stations there? Here's another TV theme we haven't done in a while. It was one of the longest running sitcoms made and though the father in the series has passed on, the mom is still alive and doing quite well it appears. Click HERE! sudo

Another Joke

Tom, OK.. I told you not to tell anyone where I got my doctorate but I see my feelings mean nothing to you. Be that as it may... I still don't get it  sudo
7. Ex '70's, Texas is a great state, my friend. My sister's husband got a 2 year transfer to Dallas 4 years ago. We all were moaning their loss and though Dallas was only about a 7 hr. drive from Memphis, we all couldn't wait for their return. And return they did. But.. it wasn't so easy for them because they had gotten really attached to Dallas (actually they were in a suburb, Grapevine) and their kids didn't want to leave. We have them back home but they will always carry their time in Texas. They even have Longhorn horns mounted above the fireplace. Two great Texas tunes: Click HERE! and http://sudo2u.com/aaj.wav'>HERE!? sudo

Another Joke

Tom Strange, And why couldn't the bartender serve a fun guy?? I'm probably digging myself in deeper here since obviously Raf got it.. and you had to explain it for me. Geeze doncha' HATE it when you have to explain jokes? But.. man... sakes alive.. I still don't get it. So OK... let the ridicule begin... I'll just take it. sudo (obviously not too bright)
9. Kathy, Nope.. my bad. We obviously got our tunes from different sources but I should have recognized yours. But just lookie.. only George knew! It's what we've been discussing. It is in deed the mystery movies theme song. I was just waiting to see if anyone else recognized it. Now I'm going back even farther. 1962 to be exact. I'm 10 years old and go to Rainbow skating rink on Saturdays. Its the skating rink where my parents met back in 1946 ( they married in 1948 and still going strong, thank you very much) and it hadn't changed one bit. They still have a Hammond organ that plays the latest hits from 1955 and even though its just kids skating, they still have "ladies only" and "couples only" skating sessions. All the while the Hammond organ pumps out tunes like "Tammy's In Love". But I like to hang out in the concession area. Not only because they pop fresh popcorn that you can smell throughout the entire Rainbow skating rink (gawd it was good) but because that was where the girls hung out and listened to the juke box. Songs were ten cents a piece. Three for a quarter. As I type this, I'm remembering and its coming back to me. All those girls I had crushes on were wearing dresses. With white socks. They were so sophisticated and I loved them so though they were older than I was. I had a crush on one particular girl who was about the oldest... she was probably 14. Nearly grown. And the song they were playing over an over on the juke box?? Well.. click Here! The singer was only 8 years older than me. Anyone remember her from a TV series??? sudo

Another Joke

Tom, Ok.. I'll admit it. I don't get it sudo
11. So you guys want some more middle '70's stuff?? McCloud stumped everyone but I can't say anything.. it would have stumped me, too. How 'bout this one?? Click HERE! Actually, I watched a lot more TV in the 60's. Even less in the 80's.. then 90's and today? There's not a single TV show I watch!! Not one. I watch the news and that's about it. My how things change. sudo
12. Am I too late??? Happy birthday Jardinero girl!!!
sudo

13. George, Re:"Sudo, I watched a lot of TV in the 70's but I don't recognize that theme." I can understand. I didn't recognize the theme either even though it ran for 7 seasons.. from 1970-1977. I posted it because it was the theme song to McCloud that starred the late Dennis Weaver. I remember watching it some but it was never a favorite of mine. sudo
14. Ken, I loved that song but thought it a bit curious that they were singing about a bathroom on the right because.. swear... That's what I thought they were saying, too. Was anyone watching TV in middle '70's?? Here' one.. Click HERE! I'll tell you all about my server but am in a bit of a rush just this minute. sudo
15. I was in elementary school when this series first ran on TV. I appreciated it a whole lot more in my adult years watching it in re-runs. I'd hear the theme and feel a smile coming across my face... even if I weren't actually visibly smiling. Click HERE! Am I not the only one not smiling today when I hear that?? Man.... sudo
16. Sorry guys.. I guess *I* was a bit odd in what I listened to and keep assuming everyone else is odd as well . That's the Brandenburg Concerto #3, I believe, from an Album called Switched On Bach. It WAS popular with us band geek types, though. Really. Yeah, I had that thing cranked up pretty good last night on the computer speakers. sudo
17. Ken, Re:"I'm gonna hazard a guess that the band is Benny Goodman" You are correct sir. So far you are doing very well but here's one that was popular when you were in about the 10th grade. We *ARE* nostalgia, Ken. It's a Moog synthesizer you're going to be hearing. Name the piece, composer or artist and win big points . I decided not to convert it to a smaller WAV since you have DSL. If you have good speakers you might just appreciate this version from nearly 40 years ago. I know you listened to it back then. Just you click HERE! sudo

Don Knotts

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Don Knotts, the skinny, lovable nerd who kept generations of television audiences laughing as bumbling Deputy Barney Fife on "The Andy Griffith Show," has died. He was 81. Click http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/O/OBIT_KNOTTS?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2006-02-25-17-47-11'>HERE! for the complete story. What Americana he was back in the 60's. 5 Emmys. And though he had lost his timing in later years, he was truly remarkable. Geeze.. so long Don. You were special. sudo
19. Ken, You are correct, of course. It was The Virginian starring James Drury. Man.. it seems like another world away that they had shows on TV like that. Re:"This may seem odd to some, but I enjoyed 'Paper Moon' more than Strange Brew." Ah! A man after my own heart I see. I dost think we'll get along quite well, Ken. Here's the ENTIRE song.. click HERE! and though the singing doesn't start until about the 50 second mark, you get extra points if you know what '40's big band did this. I didn't know it, though, and I'm a big band fan. Uh, but you need to tell us one more thing. Are you on a dial-up connection or do you have DSL or some sort of broad band? It makes a difference in how we post stuff. And just one more itty bitty thing, Ken.. what kind of nostalgic music do you prefer? Gospel? Rhythm and Blues? 60's or 50's rock and roll? Motown? And what kind of classical? If you're a music fan.. you've found the thread for YOU my friend. And once again... welcome sudo
20. Moony, How about a consolation prize? Just because we love you here ??? Just click on the moon below! sudo
21. Ken, Re:"I dont know if a hint will help, I think I was aware of the show, but hardly watched it." Hiway29 has it. In addition to his hint, the state was the capital of the Confederacy. But I'm a Southener who lives in Memphis so that hint might not just give it away to you like it would to me! :) sudo
22. Laleo, Re:"...his story puzzles me. He is a disciple who followed Jesus, but didn't follow Jesus; a treasurer who was trusted with the money for the poor, yet lined his own pockets. With a kiss, he stabbed Jesus in the back, loving him, but serving the devil's purposes. He repented, but was so filled with regret, he killed himself anyway. He was forgiven, yet found no forgiveness." History is recorded by the victors and you are taking the Gospel accounts at face value. All we have are the Gospel accounts. Judas could well have been the "good" disciple. If there even was a Judas. sudo
23. Ken, Yep.. sounds like you're official now. So tell me..can you hear the links on your home computer? You're about the same age the rest of us are, I think.. 50'ish??? Since kathy posted a Western them (Wagon Train which *I* got btw) here's another that I bet may be a bit tough. It was a Western later than Wagon Train (but still in the 60's) but with a similar dramatic theme featuring my favorite.. French horns! Click HERE! and see if you recognize it. sudo
24. Whooooooaaaaaa!! That girl has huntin' in her genes!!!!!!!!!!! And lookie what I've gots here.. CERTIFICATES! One for Jade (click HERE!) and one for Moony (click HERE!) sudo
25. Kathy, Your Western theme makes me see things..... like a band of settlers headed out West. Led by an aging star of Hollywood Westerns... a bunch of Conestoga wagons full of men women and children. What do you think? Do I need glasses? And thanks for the kudos guys.. I did have a blast setting up my server and am playing with it like a child with a new toy at Christmas. Speaking of which... that clip wasn't Babes in Toyland but it plays every year at Radio City Music Hall. Maybe this was what Hiway29 saw with his scout troop. I cut just a snippet to post but here's the unedited version... I love this... click HERE! sudo
