Kathy, Those are REAL C&W songs, too. I wadn't making 'em up. There's also "I Got In At 2 With a 10, And Woke Up At 10 With a 2." and "My Wife Ran Off With My Best Friend, and I Sure Do Miss Him" :) sudo (thinking how nice it is to have Geo around again)

Geo, Re:"As with any Tarantino movie I've seen, I just don't get it." Since a lot of folks love the guy's work, I'll chalk it up to a problem with ME but.. the only one of his movies I saw was Pulp Fiction and it made me physically ill to watch it. And since this was considered one of his best... I'll probably not watch another. sudo

Hiway29, I'm sorry dude. I didn't *know* you only had a MAC :( . I'll never try to make you feel inferior about it, though, and being the magnanimous guy that I am (give me a minute.. I'm getting all choked up over myself) I've converted the file to something you *CAN* see... even on a lowly MAC. The file is quite a bit larger but just give it another minute or two to download. Click HERE! and feel like you're almost as good as us PC users Hee-hee! Now really... is there anybody here that didn't watch at least one episode of The Misadventures Of Sheriff Lobo?? This was fun stuff guys. And Geo.. what do you mean this was a Southern phenomenon? What? They didn't show Smokey And The Bandit movies up your way? They blocked out Sheriff Lobo on TV?? It was a NATIONAL phenomenon my man.. the rednecking of America And while we're on the subject, Geo, I'm getting a little offended at your running down C&W songs like they wuz white trash or something. They are wholesome American songs I'll have you know. Good God fearing titles like "If I Had Shot You When I Wanted To, I'd Be Out By Now" and "I'm So miserable Without You, It's Like Having You Here" or maybe "I Wouldn't Take Her To A Dog Fight, Cause I'm Afraid She'd Win" and "She Got The Ring and I Got The Finger"???? Uh, like yeah, Geo.. I'm mightily offended. Hey Sushi!! Geo told you the name of the song but I KNOW what album you ripped that from and if its not too much trouble... could you post tracks 01 and 10?? That would be American Pie and Babylon if I'm not mistaken. And... a higher bit rate would be nice if you could swing it. Heck, 320 would be peachy with me. Hey.. good weekend for the thread, huh?? sudo

Hiway29, Yep, BJ And The Bear. But what was the spinoff? Undoubtedly you wouldn't have watched THAT one either, huh? Guess not, so I have no choice but to tell all. AND.. a bit of a treat.. a VIDEO! Unless you have a really fast internet connection you'll probably have to let it load before it plays right. Click HERE! and tell me none of you guys watched this show!! I've got a theory... all this fascination with Southern redneck started soon after the CB radio craze of the middle 70's. Heck, even *I* got a CB radio and learned to "ratchet jaw" on the thing. Then they came out with those Smokey And The Bandit movies and first thing you know we've got Boss Hog wannabes and General Lee clones all over the place . sudo

The Philosophy of Dogs The reason a dog has so many friends is that he wags his tail instead of his tongue. -Anonymous Don't accept your dog's admiration as conclusive evidence that you are wonderful. -Ann Landers If there are no dogs in Heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went. -Will Rogers There is no psychiatrist in the world like a puppy licking your face. -Ben Williams A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself. -Josh Billings The average dog is a nicer person than the average person. -Andy Rooney We give dogs time we can spare, space we can spare and love we can spare. Heinlein If you pick up a starving dog and make him prosperous, he will not bite you; that is the principal difference between a dog and a man. -Mark Twain You can say any foolish thing to a dog, and the dog will give you a look that says, 'Wow, you're right! I never would've thought of that!' - Dave Barry Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole. -Roger Caras If you think dogs can't count, try putting three dog biscuits in your pocket and then give him only two of them. -Phil Pastoret My goal in life is to be as good of a person my dog already thinks I am. sudo

Hiway29, Re:"jiminy crickets, Sudo-where the Sam Hill is that theme from?" 'Ya like that one?? Kinda' cool I think. AND.. there was even a spin-off show!! sudo

Abigail, These thread about our pets always pull at my heart strings. Carol and I had two Cocker Spanials that we lost if that's the right word. Carol had gotten Abby shortly before we started dating. She was full of vim and vigor as a puppy. We got married and Abbie was jealous of me, I think. She slept at the foot of our bed and seemed to resent me at first but we bred her with a championship Cocker and kept the "pick of the litter"... and we named her Lady.. after the "Lady" in Lady And The Tramp. So we had Abby and Lady even before we had our children.. and our children grew up not knowing life without there being an Abby and Lady to love on and pet. But they both grew old and finally one day I had to take Abby in to have her put to sleep. She was no longer able to walk because of paralysis in her hind quarters which meant she couldn't get up to go to the bathroom. I didn't mind cleaning her up every day but I could tell... and I know this might seem ridiculous to some... that it bothered HER that I had to do it for her. She was old and paralyzed. I had to take her to the vet for the very last time. I carried her out to the car in my arms since she really couldn't walk and placed her on the front seat where she loved to ride. She LOVED going for a ride in the car. So I drove around a bit.. taking the long way to the vet all the while rubbing her head and telling her how much I loved her. You all can't imagine how tough that was for me knowing it was a one way trip for Abby. That I would never again have the pleasure of doting on my adorable little dog. Did she somehow know that this was her last ride in her life? In the past she knew that we took her to the vet when she was sick and then when she went home she was better. Did she think we were taking her to the vet for her to get better? My heart was breaking but I wasn't going to show it to Abby. No, I was petting her and talking to her like it was old times and she was just going to get shots and some medicine. I was going to make sure that her last hours on Earth were happy ones. Gawd, I can't get through this, Abigail. Its too painful still. Let me just say that you are right to be concerned about the quality of life issues. We have to be able to do this as the last caring act for our loved pets. sudo

Kathy, Re:"I agree, it was better when they were little fartknockers." I'm not sure what a "fartknocker" is exactly. It sounds like a term I might would have scolded my kids for using when they were in elementary school. But I think I get the gist of it and I have to agree with both you and Hiway29. Not only did Kevin Arnold pull a Beaver Cleaver but so did Winnie, IMO. I see what period of TV nostalgia you are partial to, Kathy. So here's one that should be up your alley... click HERE! and see if it stirs some memories. sudo

Kit, Going back to your first post you are offended that people would send you diets and encourage you to lose weight. They wouldn't say anything to a woman with "a beak" you complain. Maybe they care about you. Obesity is an epidemic now as I'm sure you've heard. It is a direct cause of type II Diabetes. It's the major part of Metablic Syndrome. It will kill you. "A beak" or halitosis (another of your examples) won't. And its oh so preventable. Though, no doubt its harder for some than others.. no one has to stay obese as Rush Limbaugh, Oprah Winfrey and many others have shown. I've even posted my before and after pictures here to show folks how I used to be fat. I don't accept at ALL that people who are overweight have to stay that way. It really is a case of if you eat less you will lose the weight. And I think that is one reason you are finding the reaction you and other overweight people here have been talking about. You see, someone can't do anything about the size of their nose short of surgery now can they? But everybody KNOWS they could lose the weight. There were no obese inmates found at Auschwitz or Bergen-Belsen proving that NOBODY stays fat on a 1000 Kcal/day diet no matter HOW out of whack their T3 or T4 (thyroid hormone) levels are. Hence... the "rudeness" you describe. When in fact... they may only be concerned about your health. sudo

Kathy, We've talked about him as you say. He died not long ago, didn't he? It seems so odd because I remember him as a young adult on a TV Western series from the 50's and early 60's. And now he's gone after having grown old. Have I got the correct actor??? sudo
-
Rick, Yeah.. Had to be I Spy. Cool music, huh?? sudo

Kathy, Here's a line from a classic. Click HERE! It was on this afternoon on TCM (Turner Classic Movies) so I recorded a bit of it. If you don't know the movie I bet you'll know the stars... which.... would give you the movie because I think its the only one they made together. sudo
-
Kathy, That movie I posted that George got (click HERE! and HERE!)?? I see it's coming on HBO here this afternoon. They'll probably run it for a while because that's the way HBO does things. I'll go on give the name, its Rudy. Starred Sean Astin (Patty Duke and John Astin's son) and Ned Beatty. And I'm telling you its a very good movie that is quite moving and as I said.. a true story. Sushi..a folk singer who can be humorous is a nice touch. All too often they are dead serious about social issues and such. sudo
-
Ah! We've gots a winner! Now I don't feel so bad.. posting oldies that nobody knows. OK... 'nother hint... it's about college sports in a way. sudo

Kathy, You won't be sorry when you rent A Walk In The Clouds. Good movie. I wanted to post to let any lurkers know that a 4-star movie is coming on the Turner Classic Movie station this evening at 8 o'clock Eastern time. The original 1939 version of The Four Feathers. Another great movie classic that you don't hear much about. I caught it accidentally several years ago not knowing what to expect. Man! What a good movie. No guesses on my new movie post? Hmmm??? sudo
-
Pirate, You're correct. It is A Walk In The Clouds. Have you seen the movie or did you get it from the hints and pic? I'm telling you... this is a GREAT feel good movie with values and morals. Kathy.. is this what you were thinking as well?? Next time you guys are at the video store and don't see anything right-off-the-bat that you want to rent... please consider this movie. You won't be disappointed, I promise. I've got another feel good movie theme to post. Click HERE! and if that doesn't quite do it for you click on another theme from the movie that may sound like a battle scene HERE! I can tell ya'll this.. it isn't military battle but in a way.. it is battle of a sort. And want to know something else about this movie that teaches good principles??? Its a TRUE story!!!! sudo P.S. I like that cold pizza and warm Coke song Sushi and Abigail.. you gots some more??? :)
-
Sushi, She sounds like a bona fide folk singer alright. Does she have some others you're gonna' post? I like her voice. Here we are going into the weekend and it appears I've stumped everyone on that movie theme (click HERE!). And to tell you the truth.. even though I loved the movie, I might not have gotten just that theme all by itself either. So here's some other clips.. first.. a couple of happy times click HERE! and HERE! What? That doesn't sound like happy music to you? Well how about a romantic moment in the movie? Click HERE! And for good measure... here's a pic of the stars..... sudo
-
Who is Christine Lavin?? A pop singer? Maybe I could post one of me singing "Itsy Bitsy Spider".. make you guys forget all about Christine But yeah, my server died so here's that movie theme song now posted on Rick's server.. click HERE! As I was saying.. its a real favorite of mine and set in the 1940's. A love story where adultery isn't tolerated by those with morals. It had great period sets and costumes and an excellent ending. sudo

Hey guys... I came into the office this morning and found my computer had died :( . The one that was doubling as my server :( . So ya'll can't click on my links right now. I'll have to get myself a new computer of course but that could be a while so thank goodness for our ever generous Rick and HIS server :) . When I get home this afternoon, I'll repost the link. sudo

I'm a little surprised! Lookie at who all knew that movie, wouldja'? :) I have to add that I really liked it, too. That went over so well, I've got another one fer yous.. Click HERE! It's just a clip but even if there were more of it, I don't know if it would help. The score DID win an award though. I really REALLY liked this movie. But looking at the IMDB and Rottentomatoes.com it was rated only so-so. sudo
-
Kathy, You've got this thang down pat.. you're stumping me, I can tell you! Here's a clip from a very delightful movie.. though the clip doesn't sound so delightful, huh?? Click HERE! It came out in the late 80's I think. sudo
-
Kathy, Sorry.. if it's 60's I should know it, too. I'm probably just getting old :( . Has everyone had a nice Easter? We have! It was such a BEAUTIFUL day we sat outside totally comfortable. Now its time to get ready for the work week. Oh, my movie theme (HERE!) that I posted?? It was Ben-Hur. sudo

The article seems to be implying that viewing porn converts a regular guy into a pedophile. I don't believe that for a minute from what I currently understand about pedophilia. I do know that getting "addicted" to porn can be destructive to marriages, though. sudo

Kathy, Re:"That is so fun with you in that picture. Did you show the family? If so what did they say?" LOL! That pic was taken a month ago at the Warner brothers studios in Hollywood. It was a lousy tour but they had us stand in front of a blue screen (naw... maybe it was a green screen?) at the end and gesture as they took our picture. Then they gave us the photos with the General Lee appearing to leap over us. Say, Rick... did you ever try some of those stunts with your hot rod back then? You would have been the right age to have tried something stupid like that with a car that resembled a Charger. It's a good thing all I had were jalopies when I was young because I KNOW I would have tried something stupid. And since we're going to be hearing some news from Cowgirl later... I'll go on and post one of those Hollywood epic themes they always show on TV this time of year. Click HERE! Now... which one is it?? sudo

George, I'm not sure WHY some pics don't show up. I use both Internet Explorer AND Mozzilla but I could see your Catherine Bach pic only with Mozilla... here's a screen capture of my own computer screen when I view your post with IE.... sudo
