  2. You know what I loved about Sky King? That Airplane!! A twin engine! For *YEARS* afterwards I thought that was the coolest personal plane. *************** And here we have Penny (one hot babe) and uncle Sky.... .........and... a very short theme for all those old enough to remember.... HERE! sudo P.S. And hey! We still have one unanswered, guys! Click HERE! and name the 2nd English invasion band!!!!

    Profound Words

Tom, That one must be making the rounds. I got it today in e-mail. :) Here's one I got today that gave me a chuckle..... The Bathtub Test It doesn't hurt to take a hard look at yourself from time to time, and this should help get you started. During a visit to the mental asylum, a visitor asked the Director what the criterion was which defined whether or not a patient should be institutionalized. "Well," said the Director, "we fill up a bathtub, then we offer a teaspoon, a teacup and a bucket to the patient and ask him or her to empty the bathtub." "Oh, I understand," said the visitor. "A normal person would use the bucket because it's bigger than the spoon or the teacup." "No." said the Director, "A normal person would pull the plug.... Do you want a bed near the window?" sudo
  7. Tom, I felt the same way you did. That was ONE cool car! Even though you could see the marionette strings. And Jonny Quest? It was my little brother's favorite Saturday morning show. We would get up early on Saturdays. Like 6 o'clock. And watch kids TV all morning. Jonny Quest was one of the last for the morning as I remember it. And what did we watch starting at noon? Why American Bandstand, of course! Oh, wait. There was Mr. Wizard we had to endure first, I think. sudo
  8. Geo, I'm with Hiway29 here.. I loved the 60's even looking back on it now because of all the changes it brought with it. And hey.. I think that theme song rocks! But then I know there's no accounting for our different tastes in music. And think about those egg-shaped furniture, plastic cars, and plexiglas houses you were talking about... that was sure different from anything else we had seen before so how can you call that uninspired? And Kathy.. I used an ascii site for Russian letters.. HERE! Kinda' neat, huh? sudo
  9. Nolongerlurking, I can't imagine anyone here at the Greasespot having anything near as devestating as that happen to them. As Excathedra said, I can't imagine that kind of loss when you were only 16. The only thing I can think of that could come close would be parents losing their children. I have been spared such calamities and am thankful for that. It was so painful for me to even READ about that day for you. sudo
  10. Wasway.. So good to see your font here again. You want to play with us again? Geo.. Re:"I never watched this show, and the theme is entirely unfamiliar to me, but I seem to remember a show called "Fireball XL5" Yeah.. as Hiway29 and I have been busting at the gut to tell you guys.. It was Fireball XL5. And as promised... here's the vocal version featuring the man who is the father of Russell Crowe's wife. Funny.. he doesn't sound Australian to me. Actually, he sounds a lot like Pat Boone to my ears. Click HERE! and see if that doesn't bring some of it back to you. The composer of that little ditty was born in 1908. It was written produced and recorded in 1962. Which goes to show that talented musicians can adapt to changing styles. Now.. Isn't that a cool song? So hip with the times when in 1962 we were in the middle of the space race with the Яussians. In fact.. it even sounds a little like Telstar doesn't it?? sudo

    Weenie Roast 2006

Bowtwi, Greasytech is being generous... making it easy for folks. But.. send me those pics at drbowden@lroom.org and I can post 'em my very own self. I gots my own server with unlimited bandwidth. :) sudo P.S. Yes.. I can also edit them for size and content as well because... I'm a computer nerd
  12. Ah George! But there was another. The first British TV production shown on American TV and yes, it was pre-Beatles.. pre-Ed Sullivan as Highway29 pointed out. Does this pic do it for you? I'll post the version that most everyone from that era should remember later this afternoon. This version actually became a hit on the pop charts and the man that sang it? His daughter is married to Russell Crowe. And yes. He's Australian, too. sudo
  13. Geo, It wasn't the stew I don't believe.. it was the hootch! But best moonshine I ever had. I needed an oldies TV tune to make me feel better and I found one. I'll tell you guys this much.. this is the theme song to a 60's Saturday morning kids' show. Now listen to it and tell me whether it was pre-Beatles or post-Beatles. I'm betting Hiway29 will know this one right off and if so I welcome him to give hints for the rest of ya'll. I have the full version complete with words, too. I loved this tune even if the TV show was just "O.K" in my opinion. But talk about a TV show in tune with the times. Click HERE! sudo
  14. You don't have to live in the South to know that FOOTBALL IS KING! But the game wouldn't be complete without the cheerleaders, and here are some of our finest: The LSU'S Golden Girls The Alabama Crimsonettes The Ole Miss Rebelettes The University of Tennessee Rocky Top Girls! sudo

    Weenie Roast 2006

Seth, Yep.. You missed another one. We made it a lot earlier this year because of conflicts lots of folks had with our usual late September or October dates. I'm at an Ole Miss football game nearly every weekend during those months. I was thinking that it wouldn't be cool weather and nice sitting outdoors during August but I was pleasantly mistaken. Oh.. another pic. This was a weenie roast after all and Hawk and Corey brought the firewood and made and maintained the fire the whole time. Really and truly.. those two are the reason the weenie roast went so well. Thanks guys!! sudo

Here are teasers... sudo P.S. Any comments?? Hmmm???
  24. Rick, Do you want someone to out and out name it? Or be a little more subtle? The character that was always spouting off the phrase was the editor of a major metropolitan newspaper. :) sudo
  25. Rick, Hiway29 is right.. It wasn't a sitcom. It was, though, my favorite TV show of the 50's. The star of the series didn't live to a ripe old age and even appeared in character in a I Love Lucy episode. And no.. I'm not talking about Harpo. sudo
