  1. Ex, Do you know what newspaper printed his obituary? I did a quick news search but didn't find it. sudo
  2. Hey folks! Seems we have a long time Greasespot poster who sez he's leaving us for better pastures. But every time I've seen his posts I can't help but think about this song.. Click HERE! and name the year it came out.. or what TV series the singer was in or who her co-stars were. Maybe this is a bit ahead of some of yous.. :). I remember it because the girls at Rainbow skating rink played it over and over on the juke box (anyone remember those? Do they still exist?) on Saturday mornings and afternoons. Ah! I was so in love with those girls but didn't dare tell them for fear of being rejected. They would be close to 60 years old today. sudo

    pot and TWI

Linda, Re:"was shocked years later, when my roommate (a California girl) told me she took PFAL so that she could "finally sit in the back rows and smoke pot like the other grads." In my neck of the Way-world woods, smoking pot or doing any drugs was a no-no." That was my experience as well. I had witnessed to my brother who was in the Air Force back in about '79. He went to a fellowship in Shreveport, LA where he was stationed and told me that all the TWI'ers were pot heads. I couldn't believe it. But... looks like 'twas so. sudo
  4. Thanks Tom. I often find myself on the defensive.. never knowing what I did wrong. :) sudo
  5. Chas, You've always been very helpful to me and I appreciate it very much. When I posted you I was in nerd mode. I'm very sorry :( sudo
  6. George, I'll be the first to admit our memories are not always accurate. Fer instance a lot of us think of the "good 'ole days" as being a lot better than they actually were but... my memory sez that I got home from church after dark and it had just happened like an hour before. Anybody remember it differently? sudo (at least remembers his own name.... for now)
  7. Chas, I see I've been misunderstood by both you and Greasytech. The copyright issue isn't the problem. If I want to rip the VOB files from a copyrighted DVD I simply use a program called DVD Decrypter. But mostly I'm recording DVD's from the TV or from transferring my home VHS movies to DVD and there is no copyright issue. Its a formatting and compatibility problem. Maybe Wordwolf has a bit of advice for me. sudo

    Super Bowl Ads

Vegan, I don't know why you couldn't play that video but I've changed it to an MPG. Click HERE! and see if it works. Now remember.. you have to give it a minute to load!! sudo

    Super Bowl Ads

And then there are the ads we wish they would show but can't because little kids are watching... Click HERE! Hee-hee! Now does anyone feel at all sorry for the guy?? sudo
  10. Wordwolf, I can burn DVD's but I have to use proprietary software. Also, the results are not completely satisfactory either. When I built my latest home computer, I bought and installed an LG DVD burner because it supported all the formats. Specifically, DVD-RAM. That's because my DVD-VCR recorder uses DVD-RAM and I wanted to be able to transfer, edit and re-burn those files. The software that came with the burner was Power Producer Gold. I also bought and have installed Nero Ultra which I mainly use for editing but it won't burn a DVD-RAM that will play downstairs in my DVD player. Power Producer Gold will do it but its quirky and I can't edit with it. Hence my comment. sudo
  11. Greasy, I'm interested in the DVD burning part of it. sudo

    Wish gone bad

Hey! Another wish gone bad?? Read on.... It's the summer of 1962 and Harold goes to pick up his date, Peggy Sue. Harold's a pretty hip guy with his own car and a flat top hairdo. When he goes to the front door, Peggy Sue's mother answers and invites him in. "Peggy Sue's not ready yet, so why don't you have a seat?" she says. That's cool. Peggy Sue's mother asks Harold what they're planning to do. Harold replies politely that they will probably just go to the malt shop or to a drive-in movie. Peggy Sue's mother responds, "Why don't you kids go out and screw? I hear all the kids are doing it." Naturally this comes as quite a surprise to Harold and he says "Wha...aaat?" "Yeah," says Peggy Sue's mother, "We know Peggy Sue really likes to screw; why, she'd screw all night if we let her!" Harold's eyes light up and he smiles from ear to ear. Immediately, he has revised the plans for the evening. A few minutes later, Peggy Sue comes downstairs in her little poodle skirt with her saddle shoes, and announces that she's ready to go. Almost breathless with anticipation, Harold escorts his date out the front door while Mom is saying, "Have a good evening kids," with a small wink for Harold. About 20 minutes later, a thoroughly disheveled Peggy Sue rushes back into the house, slams the door behind her and screams at her mother: "Dammit, Mom! The Twist! The Twist! It's called The Twist!" sudo
  13. Ca Dreaming, Like Tom I was at church that evening when it happened. I found out it had happened when I got home. Does anyone know when it happened? I'm thinking it was about 8 O'clock Central time. I wasn't quite 17 and still required to attend Sunday night church activities. Man was I ticked off!! I had missed it! I fully realized the magnitude of the achievement. Teenagers today? Very hard to impress. I have three. sudo
  14. Bluze.. Good to see you back. sudo

    Super Bowl Ads

Chas, You're right! But do we see any on the East coast complaining like I'm doing? Even in Hawaii where the game starts in the morning... who wants to party down knowing that they have to go to work the next day? :(. BTW... pretty good ads, huh? But then. they nearly always are. sudo P.S. David.. I heard the same thing about that Monday being the highest absentee day, too.
  16. Kit, I do what Linda suggested. I use Google and select the 'images' option to find pics. But I don't have to do it that often so I'm not that proficient at it. But I'll tell you who you can PM who seems to be a master at it.. ChattyKathy. Also, those folks who play the pictionary threads on the Greasespot Reading Room forum.. you might PM some of them and get their tips. sudo
  17. Sushi, Oh? What happens then when you click on one of my links.. like the last one.. HERE! sudo

    racism

Oenophile, Re:"...if it stereotypically portrays Americans as unilingual and ignorant of other cultures while arrogantly assuming what is best for them, greedy, drowning in debt, blindly paying allegiance to their nations symbols while eschewing the founding principles that give them meaning.." Hey! You're talking about Boss Hog and the Dukes of Hazzard aren't 'ya?? But its OK to make fun of Southerners today. Make 'em out to be big stupid Jethro Bodines and ignorant Jed Clampetts and everybody howls with laughter. Stereotyping is just fine for them. But make fun of "protected" groups and you get labeled a bigot, right? sudo

    racism

Coolchef, Are you kidding? EVERYONE knows that the proper etiquette requires that Malt liquor be drunk from a Mason jar. Sheesh.. do I have to tell you guys everything??? sudo

    Super Bowl Ads

Hey guys.. I can't vouch for them but they look real to me... previews of two Super Bowl ads that I got my hands on. Click HERE! and HERE! I like the 2nd one better. With all the goodies that were posted on In The Kitchen why oh why couldn't they play this game on a Saturday night? Who wants to have a Super Bowl party on a Sunday night when nearly everyone has to go to work the next day?? Sheesh!!! sudo
  22. Hiway29, Its obvious you know the TV show. Maybe its a tough one but as I think of my grown daughter in college, I remember watching this when she was a baby. And yes.. I remember the very episode you describe. The man drew a wheel. It even had a patch on it, I believe, as if it had been repaired. I thoroughly (or is that 'throughly'?) enjoyed it. But then... in the same genre, I loved The Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits. I guess folks are too enamored with 'American Idol' type shows today to watch shows that stimulate the imagination. sudo
  23. Hiway29, What was the last anthology series you remember being on TV? I don't know myself but here's one that was pretty dang good. Produced by a Hollywood film heavyweight. He must have been slumming when producing this for TV. Click HERE! This was a series (short lived as it was) that I watched when my first born was a little baby girl. She's now a sophomore at my own alma mater... Ole Miss. sudo
