Ca Dreaming, So you needed popcorn to help you through it? And what did you think about it? Over rated? Too long? A brilliant drama? sudo
-
Groucho, Yeah... they don't seem to want to post here do they?? Aw.. they probably don't have to though do they?? They'll keep getting the "believers" tithes and offerings no matter what is posted here. sudo

Hey guys.. :( I'm kinda' bummed out so many of ya'll have never seen one of the greatest movies ever made. Gone With The Wind. And hey.. that's not just some dumb Southerner's opinion either. Here's The American Film Institute's top 100 films.. HERE! It is truly a marvelous film but you have to watch it start to finish. {sigh} Maybe we ought to arrange a "Weenie Roast" kind of weekend where those interested check into a hotel that has a conference room where we could watch some of these classic movies for an entire weekend. sudo

Hey guys, Here are the five stars that were in that little short clip which I'm also placing in this post for easy referral. First off everyone knew the hunchback was Charles Laughton though of course he was unrecognizable behind the make up. The second star folks recognized, Maureen O'Hara who as I said is still alive and played Emeralda. The next one is Gringoire, the young man seen trying to jump into the cart with Esmeralda. This one is tough because he was a good looking man here in his youth. Edmond O'Brien... who was more of a character actor later in such movies that ya'll would know like White Heat. One of the best gangster movies that starred Cagney. He was also in The longest Day and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance. Here's his pic below.. He doesn't look anything like Gringoire does he? sudo

Kathy, Here's who he married... sudo
-
Radar, Suda and i started watching it bit they had those huge breed dogs on first. We like the wee dogs. . sudo
-
Kathy, You could well be right. But Charles Laughton was a young man when he made this movie.. I think he may well have done them. BTW.. do you know who he married? I understand it was a marriage of convenience. sudo

Waysider, Try clicking HERE! Its a wonderful love song.. and easy to slow dance to with your loved one. You can even be kissing while you are dancing. sudo

I've been waiting for Hiway29 before giving out more. OK.. everyone knows that the movie is the 1939 version of The Hunchback Of Notre Dame starring Charles Laughton, right? I was just wondering how many famous actors folks could identify in the clip.. sudo

Groucho, OK I took it but it missed me saying I had a midland accent but if you look at the graphs, Southern is far and away the most prevalent. Ask anyone who has talked to me and they will tell you I have a very STRONG accent. I mean, all I have to do is say a few words. When I lived in Philadelphia, store clerks would ask me where I was from by my just saying thank you! I would kid and say that I was from SOUTH Philly :) What American accent do you have? Your Result: The Midland "You have a Midland accent" is just another way of saying "you don't have an accent." You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio. The South Philadelphia The Northeast The Inland North The West Boston North Central What American accent do you have?Quiz Created on GoToQuiz sudo

Paw and excathedra, Yes that was from the Music man and it was great wasn't it? The actress is Kristen Chenoweth and she has the voice of an angel. No one's ventured on my previous one (HERE!) so I'll tell you.. it is The Hollies' Bus Stop. A rock song, yes, but in my book very old time romantic. sudoP.S. Yes, I have Jean but I'll have to post it tomorrow.

Ca Dreaming, You caught me.. I weaved a tangled web indeed and you caught me. The show was indeed the Donna Reed show which you were alluding to. And I just missed it. My bad. The following is not only one of my favorites but a very very famous (amongst folks who follow this stuff) scene for movie buffs. Here’s a clip I got off of YouTube. This movie is one of my favorites. There are five very noted actors in this clip and I’m curious as to how many of them you guys will recognize. This movie was made in 1939 and all the lead actors are now gone.. with the exception of one. Esmeralda. She is still with us at the age of 86. Does anyone see a connection between this clip and Gone With The Wind? Have a little patience with the slow front end.. this clip is only a little over 4 minutes.. The end is a very emotional segment famous in the annals of moviedom. Is That a word?? SANCTUARY! SANCTUARY!! For a Gypsy girl falsely Accused of murder. Look at all the Extras! And was Laughton really doing all his stunts? Now… who can name all five?? Or.. maybe even one?? sudo

Here's one that really affects me as well.. A woman wondering where her true love is.. Gawd what a voice she has. The voice dynamics reminds me a little of Julie Andrews. The video is a little dark but does anyone recognize her?? I'm telling you Cowgirl.. this almost brings tears to my eyes she's so good! sudo
-
Cowgirl, Click HERE! and give this song a listen. Maybe it doesn't sound so romantic just off but give it a chance. I am constantly bowled away by its romanticism. Hear the line "someday my name and hers are going to be the same"? Where do you hear any modern day popular songs talking about a guy wanting to marry the girl? I've got more but this one is way up there in my book for romantic songs of the 60's. sudo
-
Vegan, Ah! You were able to hear them, I see. You'll have to ask Likeaneagle about the prize, though.. she's the one who supplied them. sudo
-
Likeaneagle, You did it, girl. They came through loud and clear... those files were rather large so I converted them to Real Audio files so everyone here who doesn't have broadband can hear them. I'm going to play this a little like we've always done on the Nostalgia thread. Click HERE! and HERE! for the songs and then guess who the lead singer is!! This is nostalgic is it not?? sudo P.S. If anyone can't hear these. I can post them as WAV's so that you can.

Oakspear, Re:"I've seen pictures of Lingo and he's about two of you." Oh, I'm well aware of that. The dude could break me in half with one hand tied behind his back. But I can be reeeeeeeal brave sitting behind this here computer monitor a couple thousand miles away from Alaska. Hey Jonny.. I know you're reading this and I hope you know me well enough to know I'm just messing with you. See.. I know you too. You've left before. You'll be back!!! Hee-hee! sudo (looking for the thread where they're betting on Jonny's return date)
-
Connerron, I hope you are all right. Looks like you could be going overboard on some things. I don't know exactly what else to say. sudo
-
Coolchef, You heard me right. I think Jonny is a toad licking coward. If he had gonads he'd defend himself. sudo (calling Jonny Lingo out.. mano a mano!!)
-
Whitedove, All went as planned.. Click HERE! to hear it pretty much as it was recorded. sudo
-
Likeaneagle, Never fear.. I can convert the audio file so that it isn't recognizable by standard measures. You can listen.. but you wouldn't want to try to burn it to a CD. sudo
-
You know guys.. We're much better off without Jonny Lingo here. All he did was extol the virtues of VPW and PFAL. I'm glad he's finally found some modicum of success but spare me how anyone is going to miss his butt. Hey Jonny Lingo!! I know you're lurking, dude. Come out and fight like a man. I think you're wussy whipped and leaving because you can't hack it in the real world anymore!! sudo
-
Ca Dreaming, What? You want it posted or something? MP3?? I bet Bluzeman has it. sudo

Chas, Re:"I don't know how anyone could watch that and believe in evolution." Raising my hand here. I saw the video and believe that evolution (or something pretty close) is how life forms developed here. I know it looks complicated, like how could that have "JUST HAPPENED" without God's hand. But if you think about it.. if you don't believe in an evolutionary process then you would also be blaming God for where it all goes wrong. Birth defects. Genetic defects etc.. sudoP.S. If anyone has that song "Accidentally" by Good Seed, I would be glad to post it. Just e-mail it to: drbowden@lroom.org

Ah! Everyone knew it I see. There's no getting one over on this crowd, eh? Yes, the singer was Tiny Tim who starred as the delightful teenager in the 50's series Tulips Know Best. sudo
