George, My wife must be right.. I'm terrible about communicating. My bad. I was doing all this talking about the actor who plays Marlon Brando's brother in the snippet of the movie I posted. Everyone must have been scratching their heads.. here's the clip again... sudo
-
George, I was waiting for someone to correct you so it must be a stumper. Late in his career he was in some terrible films. He probably needed the money. But you guys should recognize him from this clip. sudo

Hey Ms Bolshecik!! Welcome to the Greasespot. Take your shoes off, put your feet up and consider yourself among friends. Re:"Uh, so I'm new...But the God I trust in and rely on is a good God." What? There are some poor unsuspecting people trusting in mean bad gods? sudo

I was raised in a Southern Baptist church so this Lyle Lovett song really hits home. Anyone else remember sitting in church Sunday mornings and wondering if the preacher was *EVER* going to quit preaching and let everyone out to eat?? Click HERE! You'll like it I think if you're partial to Gospel music. sudo

Hmm.. interesting that folks would know this by the famous line alone having never seen the movie. And its a good movie, too. For those of you who haven't seen it... its more of a chick flick love story than you would think. I'm betting the brother is going by you guys unrecognized. He was one of the finest actors to appear in Hollywood movies, IMO. I remember going to see a movie back in the early '80's. I was on a double date and didn't really want to see this movie but everybody else wanted to see it so I went. It turned out to be a pretty dang entertaining movie that I think is a little under-rated today because of who the star was. But the actor playing the "I could have been a contender"'s brother had a major role in this movie and though I was a fan, I didn't know that he was in the cast before seeing the movie. And after seeing the movie? I didn't know who the actor was until I saw the credits roll!! I couldn't believe how fooled I was!! Here was one of my favorite actors and he was so good I didn't even recognize him. Does anyone have an idea what movie I'm talking about?? Or what actor?? sudo

Hey guys, Since this thread has such a long history of giving pleasure...I thought I might give it another try... just to see if there's any interest at all. So.... who's who in this clip I ripped from a movie I downloaded? When was the movie made? Who directed? There are ways to be coy about all these questions but the most important questions is... did you guys *like* this movie?? I sure did. Some of the lead actors are still alive... sudo

Rottie, I actually laughed when the test booted me for choosing a square when it said choose a rectangle.. ALL the choices given were rectangles though I knew what they wanted me to pick. I thought I'd test 'em out and sure enough the idiots that made the Idiot Test didn't know what a rectangle was. Here's a definition: In geometry, a rectangle is defined as a quadrilateral where all four of its angles are right angles. From this definition, it follows that a rectangle has two pairs of parallel sides; that is, a rectangle is a parallelogram. A square is a special kind of rectangle where all four sides have equal length; that is, a square is both a rectangle and a rhombus. A rectangle that is not a square is colloquially known as an oblong. sudo

honest discussion of the trinity?
Sudo replied to sonofarthur's topic in Doctrinal: Exploring the Bible
Sirguessalot, You know.. you're right on most all your points, IMO. I might would disagree with one thing you said but I'm not going to quibble. I shouldn't have posted what I did. It wasn't useful, it wasn't informative, it wasn't even on topic. I came across as being a know-it-all jerk. WW.. I'm sorry. sudo (who isn't a jerk most of the time he hopes) -
Rainbows Girl, Satchmo.. he's one of my favorites and this one is one of his best. I remember him when he was alive and performing on TV. And Mstar.. the good reverend is very good, too. I *love* good Gospel music! sudo

honest discussion of the trinity?
Sudo replied to sonofarthur's topic in Doctrinal: Exploring the Bible
Wordwolf, Here's a link from a site that's advertising right here on Greasespot through the Google ads. Click HERE! Note that the services are sanctioned by The Annunciation Church in Nazareth for Light & Pray Services at the Holy Church. Now how more authoritarian can you get? But.. "Some of the evidence I'm working with, you don't have access to." I was once where you are now. Give it some time.. LOTS of thought and weigh the evidence that I don't have "access to". But undoubtedly this *is* evidence that every Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Hindu etc.. scholar DOES have access to? OR perhaps you've got secret documents?? Hmmm?? And yet.. these people of other faiths remain in the faith that they were raised in for the most part? Hee-hee! I'm telling you Wordwolf.. once you see it you'll want to slap your forehead for not seeing it earlier. But.. maybe not. As long as you are happy and content then that's fine with me. sudo -
honest discussion of the trinity?
Sudo replied to sonofarthur's topic in Doctrinal: Exploring the Bible
Wordwolf, Re:"The answer is something that has not been discussed yet. Member of the Trinity? No. Began existence in Mary's womb and no sooner? No. So, what IS the answer? I wish I knew." You are a very inquistive fellow with high intelligence and good insights. I think that if you continue to ponder the evidence.. you might be very unhappy with what you have to conclude. But what do I know? sudo -
Belle, You're welcome, my dear. Were you impressed? Minnie's boys were very talented and I have something or two from Chico. How-some-ever.. I realize musical tastes vary. Personally?? I've heard a lot of harpists and they all do lots of strumming but I've never before (or afterward) heard a harpist who could play it note for note like most musical instruments. sudo

Doojable, Re:"Sudo - nice video - but don't you think THREE posts of the same song by the SAME POSTER is a bit much." I was responding to folks or referring to my post with the song. To make sure what song I was referring to (when so many songs are being posted) I included it again in each post. Now be honest.. its been a few days since I posted it and if I didn't post it below.. you wouldn't remember would you? THAT'S why I included the link in each post. Sorry it bothered you but Suda told me the same thing you did.. she didn't know why I included it in each post either. And here I was trying to make things easier for everybody. So Suda tells me this morning that I never answered who the singer was... My bad again.. she is Kristen Chenowyth and for the 4th time.. just to make sure you guys know which video I'm talking about... sudo

Mstar, Re:"I was thinking of that piece, thanks for posting that!" That's because you are a fan like myself. However this was mainly for Belle who seems to have abandoned us down here. Did you like it Mstar?? I found it phenomenal, myself. And did I mention I have some stuff by a guy named Chico?? :) sudo
-
Belle, Sit back. Prepare to be entertained. Turn up the volume on your speakers as this selection is quiet and listen to a virtuoso who was mainly known as a clown. I've heard a lot of harp players but *NONE* who could perform like this. Harpo had no formal lessons so he played the harp in an unorthodox manner. Unorthodox indeed as he had college professors at his feet trying to understand how he could do what they *couldn't* do.. and that was.. play the harp like a dang piano!!! Which reminds me.. have you ever heard of Chico?? sudo (who TOLD you he had something special for you!)

Likeaneagle, You owe me some big time hugs and kisses!!!! sudo (puckering up)

Rainbowsgirl, Naw naw naw.. here's the surprise Likaneagle has for you... click HERE! I'm just happy to be the middle man :) sudo

So Belle, Hmmm... Not at all curious what I have behind curtain #2??? sudo
-
Shirley Jones?? Naw.. This is a recent recording of a very talented lady who is younger than us all. She is far and and away above any "American Idol" talent. And since no one seems to know her... the first name is Kristen. sudo

Groucho, You are *SO* gross. I could have expected no less from you. sudo (ticked that he didn't get to post about flatulence FIRST)

Act2, Re:"Beautiful voice and video, and you are right. I have no idea who she is. She could be Allison Krause's sister as they favor, imo. Thanks for posting that." I'm thrilled that *someone* other than myself really liked a piece that *I* also liked. I get paranoid sometimes about this. The lady is mainly known for her theater work on Broadway but if you listen to her.. she sounds a LOT like Julie Andrews, IMO. Only even stronger. A really remarkable lady. If no one knows, I'll give it out. But gawd what a voice, huh? And here's something from Likeaneagle.. She's been having difficulties posting songs so she sent it to me to post. To listen, click HERE! I'll let her tell you guys about it!! sudo P.S. And here's my mystery lady again..

Sheesh girl!! Long time no see. I'm hoping you're so happily married there isn't any TIME for you to come around here anymore! Happy Birthday!!! :) sudo

Belle, Re:"I once heard some classical music that had harp playing that stood out to me .... could be that I'm not used to hearing it in classical music. Are there any particular pieces that feature harps?" What if I told you I had a harp piece that would flabbergast you? You're probably thinking that, yeah, it might flabbergast 'ole Sudo but it wouldn't flabbergast Ms. Belle. And you could be right.. I've posted songs before that I just *KNEW* everyone would love and was very wrong. Re:"I've also got a piece I can hear in my head that I would LOVE to find..." Could you hum a few bars for me?? Hee-hee! Actually, if you know how to use your Sound Recorder and have a microphone, you could actually do that and e-mail it to me. I went through Ole Miss on a band scholarship and know a lot of classical music. sudo

I hope you guys have good speakers for this one because the quality is EXCELLENT! The video is a little dark but just listen to that voice!! Does anyone remember feeling this way back when they were young and lonely? It almost brings a tear to my eye and yet... I bet few here even know who this very talented singer is!! Any guesses? sudo

Groucho, Re:"C'mon Sudo...everybody knows that most people from your neck of the woods, can't read at all.." Curious you would say that because we Southeners have always felt you *Yankees* were in need of a little remedial education. Something *had* to have been wrong in ya'll's schools. I mean.. there the signs were up posted in plain sight all legal and fair but dang if we didn't have to shoot every Yankee who ventured down this way. And the signs couldn't have been any clearer... "Owl Terspessres Weil Ba Sohot An Sghit" sudo
