How-some-ever..., I might could find you guys nostalgic things to listen to. That's what I've specialized in for years now. I try to just *guess* what folks would like to hear but hey!!! I take requests!!' sudo

I'm in New York very rarely but as Doojable said... Ummmm... New York pizza by the slice. sudo

Wordwolf, Re:"Woof woof tweet tweet baa!" Have you forgotten "decently and in order"??? So where's the interpretation??? sudo
-
Man!!! Good heavens what talent!!! Someone please tell me why I started to tear up just listening to an enormously talented little girl sing a capella! sudo

Vegan, Re:"I sat naked in a salt circle in a wiccan ritual." Now there's a religion I could have gotten into in my youth. But no orgies, eh? Bummer. Like Belle, I was raised strict Southern Baptist but now? Who was it that said fool me once, "shame on you" but fool me twice, "shame on me"??? Imagine.. are you the same Imagine from WayDale days? If so, I still have your pic on my hard drive :). sudo (no longer fooled)

Bumpy, I declare.. you're a true music lover as am I. Though I've never been to France, I'm envious and hope you are having the time of your life. Here's a Mozart piece that few here will see because most Americans shun opera like the plague. But Click HERE! and listen to Confutatis with a short introduction. Its by a group called Las Rubias del Norte. I think Raf could give us a translation but it has to do with blonds from the North . I heard it on NPR and went and downloaded it from NPR's web site. Now tell me this isn't moving music!! Here's the Latin and English translation: Confutatis maledictis (When the damned shall be cast down) Flammis acribus addictis (Into the searing flames) Voca me cum benedictis (Call me with the blessed) Confutatis maledictis (When the damned shall be cast down) Gere curam mei finis (Help me in my final hour) sudo (realizing he is among the few who appreciate classical)

Mo, Re:"I have another aneurysm on the aorta that ruptured." Nope, it hasn't ruptured yet or you wouldn't still be here, I don't think. You're a tough cookie, my dear so I have no doubt you'll pull through. sudo

I listen to music I have on my computer so its not very current. These two are what I've been listening to this A.M. The first one is pretty old.. youngsters here won't even remember it as it was popular when I was in college. Click HERE! The next one is actually fairly recent and man does it ROCK! Its not typical of the woman's usual work either but it really gets going midway through the song and it helps if you have good speakers and can crank up the bass. Click HERE! sudo

Mark, I can understand your frustration at having all the attention on child molesters directed at Catholic priests. This article shows that perverts are in all religions. I hope that gives some comfort to your soul. Is it something about being a religious leader that makes them perverts? Or are perverts attracted to religious work? Another possibility is that the number of perverts in religious work is really about the same as the general population but that its the religious perverts who get all the press. Which, if so, begs the question... does religion make someone a better person? Is there more or less murder, rape, corruption, perversion, stealing etc. in religious countries like America than in fairly non-religious countries like Sweden and Norway where church attendance is in the single digits? sudo

Bolshevik, Re:"I like that new ideas can be taken seriously." Dinosaurs on Noah's ark? And you expect this to be taken seriously by anyone other than Creationists? Look... here's a pretty good link to Creation Science on Wikipedia.. Click HERE! As I was perusing the site what seemed to stand out was this statement.. "... Christian creation science holds that the description of creation is given in the Bible and that empirical scientific evidence corresponds with that description." As was stated earlier in the thread. Creationism is based on various interpretations of the book of Genesis and is based on religious beliefs. Folks can believe that scripture teaches that Eve was a lesbian or whatever. Science has the empirical method to weed out belief systems of any kind. Hypotheses and theories change with evidence. Who was it on this this thread that mentioned Jean Baptists Lamarck and his hypothesis? It was discarded when the evidence proved incorrect, no? Aw... sheesh. If you're happy I'm happy, dude. If you feel comfortable believing what you want to believe then fine with me. I had a patient several years ago that had just immigrated from Nigeria and truly believed that ocean tides were the result of spirits. All I could do was smile and carry on like I'm carrying on with you here. I don't mean to sound condescending but (I'm probably wasting my breath) if you don't give up all preconceived pretexts as to what you BELIEVE happened in the past you will never learn what really happened. sudo
-
Bolshevik, Re:"Believing in evolution theories is just as crazy as the different creation science theories." Yeah, you aren't going to change any minds on a thread like this, I agree. Most have already made a decision. So what are you saying?? That there were dinosaurs on the Ark like the museum claims? Or that there was no ark at all? Obviously you aren't buying into scientific explanations but you don't seem to be a confirmed Creationist either. sudo
-
Bolshevik, Pretty weird. People believing that dinosaurs were on Noah's ark? Do you REALLY believe that Bolshevik? Geeze.. how big WAS that dang ark anyways? Hee-hee! And after the ark landed in modern day Turkey, we had the kangaroos swimming to Australia, Coral snakes swimming to the Americas, and all other species that can't swim making their way to the new world but the dinosaurs?? Naw... its just preposterous to me but I have long said here.. (and some are getting tired of hearing me say it)... you can get a lot of people to believe pert near anything. Did you know that most Republicans don't believe that evolution occurred? Here's a recent news article, click HERE! I have to disagree with you.. a LOT of faith is required to believe in Creationism. Dinosaurs on Noah's ark? just a measly 6000 years ago? When we have evidence of ongoing (thinking China presently) civilizations that we can definitively date to 10,000 years ago? And archaeological records that we can date to... oh, never mind. I'm ashamed to even be trying to change peoples' minds once their religious beliefs have taken over the controls. Maybe this thread needs to be moved to the Doctrinal forum you think? It's looking to me like folks are lining up on either side of the debate based on their beliefs. Huh? sudo

Belle, That irked me, too. There was no right answer for 'on'. I pronounce it the same way you do and the test wouldn't grade me if I didn't answer it so the heck with the test.Phttt!! Also, what the heck did they mean by words being pronounced a certain way down South? What way? I didn't answer that one either. sudo

Likeaneagle, Its a Fred Flintstone view of the prehistoric. People and diosaurs were all living together. In a link from a review by the New York Times: .."Fossils, the museum teaches, are no older than Noah’s flood; in fact dinosaurs were on the ark." You gotta' admit.. that's kind of odd. For the full article click HERE! sudo

I'm supposing you guys watched last night? I'm glad they are explaining a litle more about how Barb felt forced into a polygamous situation. I think Roman has something up his sleeve. Hmmm.. sudo

Pirate, My middle daughter just graduated high school, too. She, however, was able to get into a *good* college though. She'll be attending UT Knoxville. So what do you think about THAT mister pirate man? Huh??? Oh Gawd I'm LYING through my (something I know about) teeth!!! She couldn't get a scholarship to Ole Miss (like her older sister who is finishing up her sophomre year there with a 3.75 GPA) but could get the lottery money for a Tennessee school! So off she goes next year to the Knoxville den of iniquity. BAWWWWWWWW!!!! sudo P.S. Your boy don't look nuthin' like YOU dude.

And here all these years I've been using Suave shampoo in the shower every morning. I shoulda' known better. Now I can go get me one of these Brazilian's and look like Brad Pitt rather than William H. Macy. sudo

Abigail, I'm flattered that you are even interested in what *my* opinions on traditional marriage are. But since you've flattered me I have no choice but to reply do I?? OK then as to your post: Re:"...if the "traditional marriage" was such a wonderful, or even fairly good thing for the majority of couples and families, it seems to me the divorce rate wouldn't be so high." OK then here's my opinion... divorce rates started up back in the 60's when more and more women went into the workplace. That's beyond dispute. But the reason for the initial increase IMNSHO is that these working women no longer had to suffer abuse at the hands of men who were abusing them or their children. Before they were in the work force in large numbers, women pretty much had to endure abuses of their husbands as they had almost no options. There were no safe houses for abused women. But now since they had incomes of their own... they could just leave the brutes. The downside to this phenomenon is that divorce was losing its stigma so that both men and women could bail out of a situation and divorce when circumstances really weren't that bad. We became the selfish generation where our own happiness mattered more than our children who do lots better in a two parent (married... read the article I linked to) situation. And since you asked for my opinion on "traditional marriages", I still think they are best for all concerned because.... they are recognized universally as the best. I'm not being ethnocentric and talking about just American culture either. Traditional marriage is the norm (OK, with a few exceptions) throughout the entire world.... Hindu India, Shinto Japan, animistic Africa, All of the Poynesian islands etc... its truly universal. That again.. is beyond dispute. But why would all these people practice the essence of traditional marriage even though their religions and many other cultural aspects varied so much?? Well there you have to get my opinion (sorry now you asked for it, huh? ) which is that what we call traditional marriage has been the model that produced superior cultures. In short... its what works. The modern studies all show this of course. However some folks don't like the results. They want to practice alternative lifestyles and say its just hunky dory for both children and society. That's my opionion. Feel free to express your opinion.. unless it contradicts mine. Hee-hee! sudo

I'm incredulous that you guys are even debating the marriage issue. Just stick "single mother absent father" or some such into a search engine and just see what pops up. Here's a typical article... HERE! because even sociologists can't deny the overwhelming evidence. Where are ya'll coming from? Belle.. you asked me: "Sudo, are you saying that you think my idea of adopting a child, even though I can afford it, would be wrong just because I'm single?" No it's not morally WRONG fer Heaven's sakes. Lots of kids are reared in single parent homes and do very well thank-you-very-much... but it would be a better scenario for that child to be adopted by a married couple that were desirous of having children. Look at the studies. Shell.. Re:"I know, in my field, that a daddy in the home just to have a daddy in the home is the worst scenerio." I accept what you say as you deal with these issues every day and I respect that you know what you're talking about. Surely you know that I didn't mean to imply that women and their children stay in abusive situations.... "for the sake of the kids". I'm just decrying the breakdown of used to be accepted norms of behavior that has seriously wounded our way of life. And the breakdown of traditional marriages is just one part of it. Hmmm... and we got to this discussion by talking about little children using vulgar language, huh? sudo

Belle, Oh you just..... HUSH!!!! sudo (who knew that all along.. really.. no kidding... no lying)

Free, I've heard of KC's famous BBQ. But seems everyone sez they have great BBQ. Memphis is especially famous for its BBQ but personally I think the sauce is too sweet. I think KC's sauce is too sweet as well. I make my sauce with much more vinegar and lots less molasses. To each their own, though, eh? What I like about these GS get-togethers though is getting to know each other. Getting to appreciate our shared experiences. Getting some time to let your hair down. Getting moonshine.. Hee-hee! sudo (looking for the nearest pole)

Out There, Re:"He had a couple cavities on his back molars - Sudo are you listening?" No kidding? You could see them when he was yelling or something? Or maybe just bad breath? That's more indicative of gum disease but in any case... like Palladin would say: Have Pliers Will Travel. sudo (doubting Out There knows what the heck I am talking about)

Hey! Didn't everybody SEE that Bobby was going to get whacked as he was handling the toy train?? It was so obvious it was coming!! Suda and I watched it together and it was almost painful how they were dragging it out. But they've gone to the mattresses.. literally, huh? I've watched this series from day one and have enjoyed it even though I've enjoyed other series a lot better. Still, I would have preferred another season or two. How does it end? Man-o-man this is unpredictable stuff. They could do it 15 different ways so how would most of the fans like it to end?? Phil Leotardo, Tony and Paulie all get killed and Junior comes out of the nut house to run things . sudo (looking forward to Big Love Monday night)
-
Belle, Naw.. works for me just fine. Did you pay your Google bill this month? I know its getting more and more expensive but its like oil.. we can't live without it! sudo

Shell, You are being argumentative and know better. You know the facts as I've stated them to be correct. The fact that some women through no fault of their own have to raise children by themselves (who then turn out fine) is beside the point and you know it. You KNOW the data says kids raised in a single family household are generally at a great disadvantage. I don't have to post the studies because in your field you KNOW them. So.... what's your point? sudo
