It's so much better here than that other denomination we used to belong to,...well,because it just is...The rules are better here...The people spake...They wanted rules,a ten page thread devoted to them,in fact...Why,around here,inappropriate behavior on this here message board ranks somewhere on the evil scale with Hitler,sex abuse in a certain motorcoach,and child molestation... We don't want a certain kind around here...After all,when people post inappropriate things or abusive language,they automatically appear as popups on our computer screen and we are forced to read the words before we can continue whatever it is we were doing...Some of us even have to type in our viewpoints of the various cockfights we are forced to read here before we can continue about our business... What's of primary importance here at greasespot is not what is said,rather how it's said...Who cares about discussions?...It's more entertaining to watch people box with words,put your two cents in,then press the alert button when you've had enough... Speaking of which,one of the people I most admire here,aside from you wonderful 9th corpse,and lurkers and drive-bys here is that Mike guy...Here's a guy who strolls into an anti-way message board preaching way doctrine,and he's got about half the greasespot posters twisted into knots,...all thinking they're going to say the magical words to convert the guy,I guess...Or perhaps they're doubting their faith,or lack of it...Maybe it's just mental exercise...Seems like whenever I tune in to one of his threads(about once a month,or so)it's like watching a rerun on tv...Of course,we need to keep his threads where they are because they do generate a lot of hits,and in the grand scheme of things,isn't that all that really matters? I'm not angry at Pawtucket or any of the other moderators...Rather,I am appreciative of them for providing a venue to reacquaint myself with some old way friends and discuss things with other ex-cultists...Maybe they're under the misconception that they are our twig leaders...But rather than setting the rules from the top down,they set them from the bottom up...I have never expected fairness from this site,but I do appreciate forthrightness... I think I may have underestimated the damage the way has done to some people...Maybe we're all still a little lost,confused,still looking for that rulebook that will dictate faith and practice unto us...Maybe it's a lot easier to get out of the way than getting the way out of us.... Long Gone, Just for the record,I think you pose some very well-put questions,although to answer each,I think would require about a 500 page dissertation...Which may be why nobody's jumping at your invite... I've thought that maybe the gov't should just stay out of marriage altogether and let it be a religious rite,or sacrament,or whatever it is called...I remember a time when hetero friends my age were referring to getting married as "making it legal"...Evidently fornicatin'was illegal,at least in some local gov'ts..I think the gov't has done a good progressive job of staying out of the bedroom,but if we're becoming an anything goes society,at least sexually,then why special sanctions,or rights,or priveleges or benefits to people who choose the traditional,biblical hetero marriage model over any other sexual arrangement(s)?... As has already been pointed out numerous times,the gov'ts only interest should be the perpetuation of it's society through the reproduction and best possible care for children....If I live to be 80,I'd like to know that if I called a cop,or went to the doctor,or voted for the next president,that all these people weren't also 80-something because people quit producing children.... It's pretty common that now children are produced and raised without married parents...I don't know if that's an overall good thing...I suppose if a married couple raising children is the best scenario,that institution will ultimately survive...So how much involvement,if any,should the gov't have in preferring one means of rearing children over another?...I've thought that many of the marital benefits our country provides were written in the days of stay-at-home moms,whose full time job was to raise the kids while Mr. Cleaver went to the office...Couples that had no children also benefitted...I think it would be good to separate the "rights" from "benefits" as regards to the whole marriage issue...

Well,all this talk about the "Passion" movie and it's anti-Semitism on the talk shows inspired me to blow the dust off of my KJV and read through the Gospel accounts of the death of Jesus... From a historical perspective the Gospels state regarding who was responsible for crucifying Jesus: Judas led Jesus to the chief priests and elders...(Matt.26:47) Who in turn led him to Caiaphas,the high priest...(Matt.26:57) Caiaphas was he who counseled the Jews,that it was expedient that one man should die for the people...(John18:14) Caiaphas rent his clothes and accused Jesus of blasphemy and asked the people(chief priests,elders and Jews) "What think ye?"..They all condemned him to be guilty of death...(Mark 14:63,64) Then the whole multitude of them arose and led him unto Pilate...(Luke 23:1) Pilate tried to pawn judgment of Jesus onto Herod(Luke23:7)who sent him back to Pilate(Luke 23:11) Pilate told the Jews to judge Jesus according to their law.The Jews told him it was not lawful for them to put any man to death(John18:31).Pilate told Jesus "thine own nation and chief priests have delivered thee unto me"(John18:35) Pilate made several pleas to release Jesus(Luke23:16-23) The chief priests and elders pursuaded the multitude that they should release Barabbas and crucify Jesus(Matt.27:20) Fearing the tumult,and seeing that he could not prevail,Pilate gave in,but washed his hands of "this innocent man's blood"(Matt27:24) All the people answered "his blood be upon us and on our children"(Matt.27:25) Then Pilate delivered him to his soldiers to be crucified(Matt.27:26,27) Jesus was accused of stirring up all the people and teaching throughout all Jewry and calling himself King of the Jews(Luke23:2-5) It may very well be as Sister Clare Mary taught me in 5th grade catechism,that "every one of our fingerprints are on the whips that scourged Jesus"...But from a Biblical historical basis,it seems pretty clear who his ministry was directed to,and who the principals were in his death...In my opinion the Jewish nation and/or religion(I can never distinguish the two) can only accept the gospel accounts of Jesus' death as a dark day,or a black eye in the history of Judaism,or refute the gospel accounts as false...It will be interesting to see who Mel makes the villain out to be,if there is one at all..
