All right P-mosh,...I'll try to figure out this scripture build-up thing...I think any American should see the movie,but not every American,however,if each American does watch the movie,at least I'll know All American college football players will see it... I just got back from seeing the flick with an old gs buddy,and I would say it was a combination of somewhat old hat information,some thought-provoking observations,cinematic cheap shots,heartstring-tugging interviews and some good humor... As has been mentioned here,I don't think the film exposes a lot of secret files type information....Most people that keep up with politics to some degree probably won't walk out of the theater singing "I Saw the Light"... On the other hand,I don't normally go to a movie theater to keep up with current affairs...Most of Moore's criticism of the Bush administration is based on well publicized sources...I got the feeling he was trying to win over the uninformed,rather than convert the "other side" in that regard... He spends a good deal of footage on Bush in awkward moments to be on film...Being pestered by reporters on the golf course,getting his hair fixed and smirking before he goes on the air,long silent moments sitting in a chair,etc. ..More or less creative film editing to get some laughs out of the anti-Bush choir...But I think the bigger statement was looking at politics for what it is,looking good on camera and saying the right things.... Although,Moore let's you know very early on his disdain for the President,his most thought provoking statements,or commentary,were somewhat non-partisan...If I had made the movie,I would have played a few bars of Creedances Clearwater's "Fortunate Son" before stopping different senators(Dems & Reps)and asking them if they would enlist their kids in the war...Turns out,only one of them has a son in Iraq...And for me,the most intriguing statement was how it ends up that our more hapless poor folk become the one's that defend the rest of us... There was a lengthy interview with a mother that lost her son in Iraq,which was very gut-wrenching...Not as much time was spent on the reaction of the family's of the 9/11 attacks... I don't think Moore is particularly that funny,but there were a few good quips... While I don't share a lot of Moore's political views,what seems to bother him bothers me also...Namely,we seem to be becoming more of a society where the rich ruling class governs the masses while the poor literally fight the battles...The most memorable statement(and I've already forgotten exactly how it goes)was when a soldier said that when you kill someone,a part of your soul dies....

Yeah,shipper,his heart's as big as he is...

I'm going to see it in a bit,but before I do,I hope I can understand the distinction between all,every,and any American....

Any thoughts on interleague games?...Looks like they're here to stay...It's fun seeing some of these AL pitchers bat for the first time all year...It's also good for NL clubs with a deep bench to have a DH...

Well,St. Fellowshipper of Assissi,Dana and I had a pleasant time...He brought his 15 year old son with him(he also has an 18 year old daughter)and he hung out with my 15 year old son..He parked his big rig in my driveway and ran over my azaleas....The inside of his semi is so huge I was thinking "wow,you could've housed about thirty 9th corpse in here at the Rock"...He refuses to pick up any hitch-hikers headed for Tinney,N.M. We sat in his rig and listened to C.W. McCall sing "Convoy"...you remember the one..."Pigpen this here's the rubber Duck,and I'm about to put the hammer down"..Then we set off fireworks and tried to wake the neighbors...We even hit a neighbor's tin shed with a Roman candle and still couldn't get the police to show up...Then we got together and prayed so fervently that we prayed the holy spirit into the meeting... Finally,we bid eachother Godspeed and good speed...Currently,his Missus is trying to post his pic on the picture forum...But he's so darn big(six-foot-seven)she probably can't get a picture of him to fit on the computer screen.... I've noticed Russ' posts take a while to show up...There must be some kind of moderation process for newbies...We'll lift you,Russ.."But ye beloved,building up yourselves,praying in the holy ghost"...

Well,I've been spending some time here with the King(Dana,not Elvis)...And even tho he's gotten paunch,has more wrinkles than a patent-leather beanbag chair,his hair's gotten thinner than a rice paddy in Death Valley and his walk with the Father would cause even the most blasphemous of infidels to lock their doors,I have nothing but good things to say about my corps brother...Whoa....gotta go,...here he comes...

Johnuar, Bingo!..Eddie Matthews started with the Boston Braves,and continued with them when they became the Milwaukee Braves,and finally the Atlanta Braves...Spahn retired around '64 and never played for the Braves in Atlanta,and Aaron came around after their move to Milwaukee,but did play for them in Atlanta...I thought Joe Adcock finished out his career in Cleveland in those days...Actually,somebody's playing career could have also spanned the A's from Philadelphia,to Kansas City,and finally to Oakland,but nobody did...

And I suppose when she consulted with an attorney to see if she had grounds to sue you,he told her in court she wouldn't have a leg to stand on... My poor uncle had his entire left side cut off at the sawmill a while back... He's all right,now,though....

Lifted, You're interpretation makes more sense to me....But even after the dust had cleared and I asked the ump to 'splain his ruling the following week,he was sure he made the proper ruling... All right,as long as I'm in post a reply mode... Who's the one player,though never traded,that played his home games in three different major league cities...No fair if you have to look it up...

Lifted,this ump was actually one of the older more respected umpires in the league...When he was explaining his ruling to me,he said that if there is only a man on first and you step on first to get the batter out,the runner doesn't have to go to second....But with the bases loaded and the batter already on first,each runner is now a potential force out at the next base,regardless of the order they are forced out...And the run counted because the batter reached first and runner scored before the other two forces and I'm getting a real headache just typing this stuff...

Ok Lifted,w/o getting too technical,this sequence actually came up in a game that my kid was pitching a no-hitter in(gloat-gloat) and I was never satisfied with the ump's ruling... The other team had loaded the bases with one out via a walk and two errors...Batter hit a short fly(but too far to be called an infield fly rule)...Second baseman couldn't reach it and it dropped seemingly for a hit...Alertly second baseman picked up the ball and threw to second forcing out the runner on first(No-hitter still intact)..Just as alertly,the shortstop,after forcing the guy at second,threw to the third baseman,who was standing on the bag....The throw was high,and the runner slid under the tag...However,the ump also ruled that runner out on the forceout...The other team argued that the force was no longer intact because the guy was already forced out at second...The ump held firm saying that when the bases are loaded,each runner must go to the next base and that it didn't matter whether the preceding runner was forced out...Furthermore,he ruled,the runner on third made it to home before all this was completed and he ruled that the run counted....Confused?? I still don't get the ruling,but my kid was credited with pitching a no-hit one run game...

Lifted,that's pretty good,tho I didn't know the batter would get credited with a hit in your scenario.... The way I thought of would be your scenario except the batter hits a squibbler over the shortstop's head...The runner on third,who happens to also be deaf,thinks there is only one out and only strays a few feet off of third,not hearing the third base coach yell "Go! Go!"...The other baserunners,who are running on contact,all reach their respective next base,as well as the batter reaching first safely....But the runner that started on second passes the deaf guy who was on third,being called out before the run scores and with the batter getting a hit...

If obstruction counts,that would make about 12... All right,one more question....Is it possible to get six hits in one half of an inning and not score a run?

Excie,who said women were allowed Johniam,I know the runner is out if the ball hits him...If the fielder is in line to field the ball the runner cannot just run into him...I'm no umpire,but it may be like the 'charging foul' in basketball...Whoever gets to the space first has the right to it...

I think the batter is awarded first,but the runner would stay at third...

I never heard Joe Morgan's list so I don't know if he would consider that wicked line drive one or not,Johniam....Another I thought of,tho it would be scored as a steal of home,is catcher gets crossed by the pitcher,so he runs out to the mound to straighten out the signs,only he forgets to call time....Runner on third,seeing nobody covering home,dashes in and scores...

Lifted,that would take all the fun out of it,not that this is exactly the thread of all ages...

Hey,another baseball junkie!....Johnuar,wouldn't the runner be charged with interference,rather than the fielder?...I thought the fielder had right-of-way...

No more takers...All right,I'll throw out what I think would be a 10th one. Batter reaches first and runner from third scores on a dropped third strike..

Tommy,I think bad throw from catcher back to pitcher would qualify as #9... If the pitcher walked the next three batters the runner would have moved up from second to third on the second walk..
