  1. Well, after praying so fervently that I prayed the holy spirit into the meeting(oh,but he said he did)I prayed the Lord that he would grant unto thy servant,a holiday...a vacation with pay...I wasn't clear and concerned enough to get the pay part(damn cheap cameras)but it was a good vacation that I walked worthy of...And behold, now I go bound in the spirit back to work, not knowing those things which befall me there..."But none of these things move me"..said one bowel to the other....
  2. Laleo, What did I expect from you?...I'm not sure,really.... I consider you,Zixar and Satori among the best here at putting your thoughts into words in a very eloquent manner, which is why,I suppose,I included you...While some less articulate posters may be resigned to just saying "Satori is an insensitive prick",I think somehow you're more capable of helping diffuse a situation that's getting pretty ugly...I don't care about the flame wars...Some people relish being in them....But I don't recall Chuck being one of your typical heavy hitting debaters until his brother passed...He's still getting beat up on this thread...And unfortunately,he's in the middle of this "war",which would be nothing more than a game had he not suffered such a devastating loss... I don't really appreciate what the disgruntled posters are doing over there,either....Which is another reason I have no interest in going over there...I think you and Sudo wondered why Zixar didn't post over at JWs....I wondered that myself...Wouldn't it make more sense for him to answer his accusers at the place where they're accusing him, rather than where they are banned? I don't really concern myself with what other people say about me when, for whatever reason,we part ways...It's out of my hands...I think Gs's top guns going after Jw's top guns could be a pretty cool thing,actually...I guess I feel this war would have been better left there since Chuck is in the middle of it...And I suppose, since I also respect your viewpoint,I expected you to be a little more taken aback by Satori's continuing debating with Chuck, even after he was made aware that his brother had recently passed....
  3. Wowzer...Where do I start?...I have no inclination to post on the JW's site since I never practiced their religion, therefore I don't see what possible healing in my life can be derived from BS Bible discussions with them...I did, however, read the thread in question.... Some things surprise me here, and some things don't...First,I'm not at all surprised that Zixar started this thread and provided a link....While many people are amused at such things as internet flame-wars(probably the same way some people enjoy video golf, virtual reality or cyber-sex),I can't help but wonder if this thread wasn't started to draw some unfavorable attention to some of Zixar's former nemeses....While the debating part of the thread reminds me of Don Rickles holding a thesaurus,(press button on laughtrack),the one issue there that keeps bothering me is how heartless Chuck has been addressed after the recent loss of his brother... There are things that are real, and there are things that are not....This isn't a "real" cafe...But I suppose real people post here...Sometimes,I'm a little confused myself as to what defines "flaming","harassment","inappropriate behaviour" etal. on the internet... Death is real...People don't have a restart button or an alternate power button...And if you don't believe the Bible, you have to accept the fact that you will never, ever see that person again...Frankly,Satori should be ashamed of himself....To continue his debating with an obviously grieving and understandably angry man for what?...to not appear a fool on an ex-Jehovah's witnesses message board?...I've always liked Satori, but it surprises me that he didn't recognize the difference between debating for jollies' sake, and having the human decency to let a grieving brother(I don't mean brother in Christ) lash out at the world...Maybe it would be better if Chuck took out his anger on the rest of his family,or his boss,or maybe the next guy that cuts him off in traffic...After all,by golly, this is cyberspace and if you ask for trouble you're going to get it...and if you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen...and if you you can't bark with the big dogs, stay on the porch... I'm also surprised Laleo wasn't more nouthetic(hey! I used a big word!)in how she would have spoken to Chuck differently than Satori...I consider Laleo to be sensible and articulate, but maybe she doesn't want to be the subject of Satori's wrath...Perhaps she lacks the time,or maybe this bit of "insensitivity" shown by Satori went over her head, through the woods and all the way to gramma's house... I'm not surprised Zixar is numbed to Chuck's feelings...He always seemed to have trouble distinguishing the real world from the cyber world... I suppose I'll get my due now,but frankly,I expected better out of you three...Have fun doing your armchair anal-ysis...after all,the game's more important than the players....
  4. Johnuar, I've seen that game,i think, on ESPN Classic...I miss those old days when teachers would bring a tv into the classroom, and if you behaved you got to watch the World Series...Sort of like "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest"
  5. I think the players know what they're talking about,Tom....Good for the STrangers... By the way,I am absolutely, unequivocally, adamantly,no bones about it,100% positively "you can quote me on it" sure that I am against the current rule that whichever league wins the All-Star game has home-field advantage in the world series...There are plenty of other ways to add some drama and meaning to the All-star game without involving the World Series, especially when a contending manager is managing the All-star game....
  6. I say the same thing to myself about GSC...
  7. Wow... Keep him off the 'roids....Have him strengthen his legs, that's where the power comes from and find him a good pitching instructor that will teach him proper technique....For a boy that size,he doesn't need to screw his arm up by developing a curve ball just yet..
  8. Littlehawk, Yeah, the Tigers....Lolich was the World Series hero in '68 when McLain won 31 games...I think in '71 Lolich started 45 games, pitched over 360 innings and won 25 games...unheard of by today's standards...
  9. Gibson was a heck of a hitter,Koufax didn't need to be...Actually,Gibson didn't need to be either, but I did see him hit an inside-the-park-homer at Wrigley...
  10. Littlehawk, If Mickey Lolich could bat and run in his day, then there's no excuse! :D-->
  11. Cubs swept Chisox and Mets swept Yanks...Who'd a thunk the two biggest intra-city series played in the NL parks would be swept by NL teams...It's tough on the AL batting their pitcher...The Yanks are protesting,tho...Lifted,did you see the play they were protesting on,where the ball went past the first baseman's glove and into the runner, who was called out?...If you did,how would you interpret the ruling?
  12. I'm not sure what was going on in the world politically in the '70's and '80's when books like "The Thirteenth Tribe" and "The Myth of the Six Million" were promoted in the way bookstore, but in those days I remember talking with many Christians from other sects who felt it was the Christian's duty to "pray for Israel" and to send money and so forth to help restore the promised land to his chosen people... The way bookstore also promoted "Babylon Mystery Religion"...While I can't say what a dead man's motives were, the issue the way seemed to have was with other religions promoting themselves as 'the true church' or 'God's chosen people"..."There is neither Jew nor Gentile" was a very foundational belief of the way...I think in that context it was taught,at least publicly, that no particular bloodlines had any special favor with God in this administration...I never read any of those three books,so I don't believe they were required reading for anybody in the way...
  13. Happy Independence day...Peace and safety...Prosperity and health...Needs and wants parallel... "..."Cuz we love Pikkerinnen...and grinnin' And Gramma's house on Sunday afternoo-oon"
  14. Lifted, I've umped some winter-ball games, but I'm not a certified ump...But I love the game, and since my son was in club ball the last three years,I've had plenty of time to sit and chat with other baseball people about the nuances of the game...I'm seriously considering getting into umping so's I can stay close to the game after my son finishes highschool... I've seen highlights on ESPN where a batter swung at a pich that ended up hitting him,and it was called a strike...According to the umps in club-ball,at least around here, even the slightest movement,or attempt by the batter to get out of the way will grant the batter first base...Some hitters will simply twist at the hip on an inside pitch and actually move into the path of the baseball, and all the umps I've seen rule in the batter's favor... We had one interesting incident come up in a game last year, that our manager was going to file a protest on,but we ended up winning the game...Our catcher had aggressively tagged out a couple of the opposing players, knocking them down....The other team started complaining to the home plate ump...Then there was a close play at the plate on a base hit,and the catcher tagged the runner out hard, knocking him down...The ump immediately called 'out',then stood in front of the catcher and started warning him about his aggressive play....Except he didn't call time and the runner who got the base hit took another base...If that extra base had affected the outcome of the game, and we lost, would our protest have held up?
  15. So does the anger stem from one's beliefs or the subject of one's beliefs being rejected?
  16. It was a biblical t-shirt and reaching ministry...
  17. Hey,I can't for the life of me remember what was in 'bottom floor wierwille'....Did we ever do anything in there?
  18. Does any body know why that place was called a library? I can almost see Lloyd now(not Loy)standing on the top of that ramp, yelling WOO-HOO..CORPS NIGHT!!!!
  19. You two can just go to hell
  20. Letsee....Wrigley Field,Wrigley Field,Wrigley Field,Wrigley Field,Wrigley Field,Wrigley Field....Oh,you want others?...The old Tiger Stadium, the Old Comiskey Park,Bank One Ballpark, the old County stadium in Milwaukee and where the Iowa Oaks played in Des Moines...I've also been to most of the spring training sites in Arizona... Stranger, that was Jack Murphy stadium in San Diego... Lifted,I'll hazard a guess...If I had to make up the ruling as I went,I would say that since home plate is in fair territory and the batter is supposed to drop the bat somewhere near home plate,he can't be responsible if it lands or rolls partially or wholly in fair territory Once the bat leaves his hands,in effect,it becomes part of the field, the same as if the ball careened off a beer cup in the outfield...Therefore the play should be live...If he was still in contact with the bat then I think he would be out...
  21. P-mosh, I think we're in too much agreement to be the next Siskel and Ebert -->
  22. What sucks about these interleague rivalries,Johnuar,is the Cardinals just pasted the hapless Royals three straight while the Cubs had to play the Chisox, whose bats are about up there with the Yankees'...
  23. Aaaah, lifted, another good baseball guy... With two outs, the batter is never automatically out, even if bases are loaded, although if bases are loaded, catcher merely has to step on the plate to force the runner on third..I believe the only time the batter is automatically out on a dropped third strike is when there are less than two out and first base is occupied...Runners on second and third only, batter is safe if he can beat the throw to first and runners MAY stay put... I believe the runner is entitled to second on a foul tip caught by the catcher...
  24. Dana stopped in again this evening very briefly before heading east and grabbed me by the nape of the neck and made me type that his torso is still shaped like a vee,he's got long flowing hair like Fabio,he's in perfect fellowship with the Father, and I never had azaleas next to my driveway...
