Yeah, something like that...You were called out from before the foundation of the world,or called somebody out,...or...it's late....gotta get to bed so I can have a breakfast of the sports pages before work....

C'mon Lifted,...cheer up...Baseball's like the perfect religion...Teams come and go,but baseball liveth and abideth for how long?...That's right,"forever"...In the big inning,God created....The Lord even called certain lewd fellows of the baseball sort-or something like that...

Beeeeeeauuuuuutiful Venezueeeeeelia on a moonlit night... Fellowman, just what does an Okie from Checotah ponder about?

All right,Stevo, the Cubbies are now 1/2 game ahead in the wild card race, but for cripes sake,at least check the standings in the Waukegan News-Sun so's I don't hafta keep updating you every day ;)-->... Mstar: Spark?? Oomph??...I heard a little tidbit on ESPN tonite replaying Curt Schilling lashing out at a radio guy for making up a rumor that Schilling and Pedro don't get along...Sometimes I wonder if a loser mentality of a city...the press, the fans...doesn't affect the players on the field...I know they're separate, but c'mon...the players read the papers,...they watch ESPN...They know how historic their seasons and even their careers would be if they were part of bringing a championship to Chicago or Boston and removing the "curses"... I'll rant a little more 'bout this 'chemistry' or whatever it is we're talking about...Rocky(yes,that Rocky)and one of my brothers and I went to see the D-backs last week and watch Randy Johnson break Steve Carton's KO record for lefties...(He won,3-2)...Anyway,there's been a lot a talk in the Az. paper about how he should win the Cy Young award, how his team's not hitting for him,he was miffed for not being given more national consideration yadda,yadda... Here's a guy who's record is 14-14,sits alone in the dugout like he's the God of pitching and forgot that he was once a young struggling major-leaguer who was walking eight guys a game...Rather than being a source of inspiration for all the rookies that play behind him,he seems to give off an attitude that they don't belong on the same field with him....That's probably why NY didn't want him...That rookie that made the two base throwing error may later single in the two winning runs if the spark is there....The game's been good to Randy, how 'bout giving something back?... Nomar had a pulled groin and was out of the line-up until yesterday(since Sept. 11th)...He's been doing all right...Hitting .300....He seems to be more of a spark early in the game...I don't think he has to carry as big a load with the Cubs like w/ the Bosox...I mean, they got four guys with over 30 homers and he was still batting third in the order for a while...

Rough recollections-history and overview of TWI.
simonzelotes replied to WordWolf's topic in About The Way
WordWolf, I think what you're trying to do can be a worthwhile, noble endeavor...Although my interest in the history of the way comes and goes,at times I find the general thought progression of the way and it's leaders, from whence it came to what it had become to what it now is rather intriguing.. Perhaps you could get with Pawtucket and start a new category called 'way history'...The category can then be divided into years,or decades or maybe 'eras'...Then if a poster's memory is jogged about something of historical significance about the way, they can post it in the particular time period it occured... You might want to limit the discussion to clarifying the time and accuracy of the events rather than "such and such leader was a jerkoff" etc. ... -
That's not tongues,shipper,that's....no deal... I still can't get over 5 graduating corpses...I think Rev. Buyunga Simbi has more wives than that...
-
C'mon,Steve, don't you at least read the front page of the Trib?...Tell you what,Steve, get the Sun-Times...You don't even have to open it...Just look on the back side and it oughter tell you they're a half-game back...
-
I guess this new graduating corpse never broke up into twigs...Where did they hold their graduation at,IHOP?...Uhhh,table for five,non-smoking....Wait!...Make that a table for eight, the trustees need to be there...Heck,they could have all fit in my station wagon...They barely had enough for a good game of spades...How did they handle bless patrol?...At least they probably had plenty of 'seconds' available on bulgar wheat salad night...How the hell did they clean out the Jordan River?...If three of them were shadowing Harve,Rosalee, and Jacque Pierre,or whoever the third trustee was,the other two couldn't open their meetings with prayer and manifestations...Do they each get their own WOWburger tent during ROA?....So many questions....

Oddly enough,I watch less baseball when the Cubs are in a wild card race...it's too hard on the nerves...I watch my kid play a lot of ball, and it's very relaxing, until we're in a tournament or the playoffs, then I pace back and forth like a caged lion... I still think the Cubs have the best lineup and pitching staff, although Houston's making a good case for it's pitching even without Pettite...Giant's have the Bonds factor, though McKeon proved last year you don't have to pitch to him to beat the Giants...San Diego is also a quiet, scary team....

Whopping 5 Students Graduate from WC Training This Year
simonzelotes replied to Belle's topic in About The Way
Hey,as long as they graduate one apostle, one prophet, one evangelist, one pastor and one teacher it must be worth their while.... -
I'd like to see some of those born-again hippies make that drive from California in their love-buses...
-
Some people call a spade a spade...I call it a !@#$%&%$#@ loy...
-
You might be thinking of Larry on The Three Stooges...
-
Looks like Bosox will have to gear up for the wild card....Everybody in NL wild card race seems to be treading water, nobody really jumping ahead... Never saw the Nine Innings from Ground Zero...sounds interesting...
-
Sure,Tom,you're !@#$%$#@! right I love you,so would you quit asking me that !@#$%&%$#@! question... sTranger was caught away in the spirit on the Lord's day...I was taught the Lord's day was Sunday...Then I was taught by another group of fundamentalists that the Lord's day was Saturday...I tell you I was so confused I didn't know if I was comin' or goin',multiplying or dividing, adding or subtracting...That's when I took all my wonderful books and commentaries down to the local gehenna, where the fire never ceases...And Father told me he'd teach me the Word, like it hadn't been taught since the first century,if I would require a minimum donation to teach it to others...

Actually, that sprayed on foam roof with a urethane coating is an excellent roof when applied correctly...About half the flat roofs in Az. currently use it...I don't remember if the way hired contractor's to apply it or if they had way builder's do it....Either way,it was still a rather new product back then with a few warts in the system....It probably turned out not to be a good roof for the midwestern climate... Regarding Beta vs. VHS,I had heard that Beta was a much better system and appeared to be the better way to go,but then Sony shot themselves in the foot by attempting to monopolize the Beta market through patents and such, forcing their competition to promote the VHS market, and eventually it became the most popular...Gotta admit, tho, the way made the right choice on cassette over 8-track... I was a way builder on my interim year('79-80)and it was a fun year...Although looking back,it may seem on paper that with all the cheap $75 a month labor at their disposal, working heartily as unto the Lord and not unto men, the way would have been able to save lots of money on building costs....But in reality,I think they got what they paid for...
-
They are where they are because of their believing, just like you or me,Tommy....Not to brag, but you don't read about hurricanes and cyclones and typhoons here in Arizona...Maybe a little zephyr now and then...Coincidence?...I don't think so...Remember driving past Meteor Crater road near Winslow,Arizona, where the girl,my lord, drove a flatbed Ford?...I'll have you know in the 20 years since I've lived in Az.,we have not once been struck by a meteor...It's nice to know that even the unbelievers are blessed with my faith... I also,(Lamsa)was moved by your story,Nika...It's great to be looked after...

How long ago were wayfers generally happy?
simonzelotes replied to JustThinking's topic in About The Way
In the old Rock of Ages '72 film,(the long version anyway)it begins with a bunch of hippie-type groovy Christian people laughing and hugging and greeting one another with an holy kiss as they're arriving at the ROA...Bud Morgan, the film's producer, did a splendid job of capturing on film what I thought was a very happy moment,or maybe even a time period...In fact our own HapE4me (Hey Hap,you readin' this?)was one of the holy greeters...I had often wondered if that was a staged scene or if Morgan just happened to catch the moment on film as it developed(Hey,that's a pun)... That was my first ROA,fresh out of PAFL and I think that moment on film captured how I felt about life at that time...Viet Nam was over...PALF was the solution to all the world's woes...Confess positives and you'll believe positives and nothing bad will ever happen to you...Plenty enough lovin' and huggin' and holy kissin' goin' around to make everybody happy...Of course,I was also a fifteen year old kid who hadn't yet experienced my first flat tire or severe case of heartburn.... In spite of my youthful, blissful ignorance,I seem to remember the main message carried throughout the followers of the way as one of hope, love and deliverance;a joyful uplifting message of an all powerful and loving God who wanted nothing more than to see his "keeds" happy...I've often wondered, did I just grow up,or did the message of the ministry change?...I think it was both.. Naturally with age comes more experience, and with more experience,reality...When you're car runs out of gas,you have to push it to a gas station...Putting "son of God with all power" as a qualification on a job application does not necessarily impress the personnel director...Maybe it was good to be 'happily ignorant'.... I also noticed the message of the ministry changed, and specifically,it seemed to be around 1973-74...It may have been noticeable to me because I had "tripped" out for about a year in those days...When I came back,it seemed like the focus of the teachings was less about God's great ability and willingness and the over "900 promises" in the Bible, and more about the believer taking a stand, being sold out, committed to God,via the ministry....God HAS already done this for you,now what are you going to do for him?...Sharing the good news of the Gospel no longer was a result of speaking out of the abundance of the heart, but rather our sense of urgent duty, fulfilling a requirement by God that we get the Word over U.S.A. by 1976,and save our country from the catastrophic events of a communist takeover...Fear seemed to replace love as the main energizer... Maybe because that was about the time the way corpse started graduating and taking over the leadership roles out on the field...VPW had said he saw the need for trained leaders...Leaders trained to do what?...Carry the same message of love, joy and deliverance,or leaders trained to convey a message of an unwavering commitment and stand for God by leading believers into the next step in the way's path of righteousness? There seems to be a certain amount of satisfaction in fulfilling what one believes is his or her's own sense of duty,or obligation...Whether that equals happiness is questionable....A totally selfless life can be a totally unhappy life... -
I thought the uddermost parts of the earth was Wisconsin...Get it?...Wisconsin...America's dairyland...Dairy cows...udders....teats...The most udders are in Wisconsin?...Hello,am I gettin' thru here?...Engine's runnin' but no one's behind the wheel....Ah,whaddayou know about funny, anyway?
-
How's that for consistency?...KC Royals beat Detroit 26-5,then can't get more than one runner to second base and get shut out in game two,8-0...
-
Z-shot....I'll root for your cousin,also...Plus,I'm a proud parent of an ASU student and an alumnus, and you know how we feel about UofA....
-
Sure,Mstar...Maybe one of these ex-wayfers can dig one of those old 'Bank of Heaven' checkbooks out of their attic and send it to you....Who knows?...Maybe one of those scalpers will accept one of the checks with proper ID,then he can pray and believe that he'll actually get the cash...

Oh,one thing I thought of,as long as we're bashing football here,is that football is the only sport that rewards and encourages the cheapshot...In hockey, they regulate checking....In basketball, they call flagrant fouls...Only in football can a scrawny,dred-locked defensive back wait in the wings 'til a wide receiver is in full leap, eyes and hands fixed on the ball, and deliver a full-speed running blow to the receiver's back, and get high-fived and make the pro-bowl if he does it often enough...

'Course, have you seen an NHL game, lately? Some of the last names of the Russian players won't even fit on the back of the uniforms....

Good question,Oenophile....Athough,I wonder how many Cuban-born Major leaguers would choose to play for Cuba instead of the Major League team they play for... I think the difficulty in playing a 'World Cup' type of tournament in baseball is the long b-ball schedule is so demanding for Major Leaguers, and especially pitchers...Face it,their allegience is going to be where the money is,just like the foreign-born players who choose to play in the U.S. Majors...It works in Little League because there's no money involved-only pride and sportsmanship...
