I don't know how to do that. Every day there's 7 or 8 news items you can click on the Yahoo home page with short articles. The one I saw hasn't been there since 1/15. Personally, I don't mind if he has a holiday, but I think Rosa Parks' name should be added to it. I have to respect that MLK constantly put himself in danger which ultimately cost him his life, but he also had an entourage with body guards. All Rosa had was her pretty face. I think what she did took more guts than what he did as a single act of bravery.

Interestingly, a link on Yahoo home page said MLKs critics have accused him of committing adultery and plagiarizing his material. Woo hoo hoo! Anybody here wanna go on a MLK supporter website and tell them his contribution was fraudulent? I didn't think so.

This reminds me of a case in Grand rapids, MI where I lived at the time. In the late 80s a worker at a liquor store was shot and killed by a man who robbed the place. He was never caught, but 7 years later he turned himself in; said he couldn't live with himself anymore. As far as I recall, murder is murder and there was no special sentencing given to him for this. Rape is not murder, but I don't think there should be any special leniency in sentencing this man. He turned himself in of his free will, which indicates that this has plagued him to some degree ever since he did it. He threw himself on the mercy of the court; he should expect no "discount".

Jingoism. Ingo is not in the original word. It was added by etymological scribes.

quote:My wife's vows never included the words "I will give him sex", did yours? As a matter of fact, yes. The minister said, "Will you f*** his eyes out NIGHTLY? Answer 'I will'. She said yes. quote: .....rhythm. HAH! Hey, did you hear the one about the couple who exclusively used the rhythm method? It WORKED! All 12 of their kids were musicians.

quote: John, you are not propounding a biblical or christian way that a marriage should be. Yeah, well it sounds to me like mine's happier than yours.

No, 2 wrongs don't make a right; they make a human, just like 1 wrong. Same old same old double standard. Women can blame everything on their hormones and not take responsibility, but men are all GUILTY!!!!!

quote: Do they don't say: "Horny" because they simply don't feel 'that' way. And would rather say: "Oh gawd no! Not that again. Didn't we just do that last year?" That's funny. Yeah. Any woman who chronically refuses to have sex with her husband has already broken the marriage vow herself; why be shocked if the man responds in kind by looking elsewhere.

God has less power than this country and its laws? Hmm.

It seems to me that in any Christian marriage ceremony a scripture is read that says God actually joins the 2 together. To be honest, I don't know exactly what that means, but I believe it means SOMETHING. I DON'T think it means that the couple no longer has to work at doing the 'little things' because "God'll fix everything now". I also DON'T think it means that a black cloud will follow us around for the rest of our lives if we divorce. But I DO think it means that GOD is involved in our lives in a way He wasn't before, therefore, before any 3rd parties become involved in a dispute, God should be considered/consulted/prayed to etc. Who knows? It just might help the situation. Nothing that people do is ever going to be fool proof. This applies to the other thread, too. IF God really does join the 2 together, then that would be preferred above shacking up, if the couple is really serious about the relationship. Otherwise, it's just another form of gambling.

I ran into a guy named "Stretch" one year. He wasn't crazy or scary, just weird in a funny way. Said he was from Philadelphia. I worked in Camping that year and he was just one of those people that likes to give you the 'lowdown' on stuff. He'd be talking away, then pause and say "C'mere" so I'd get maybe 2 feet away from him, then he'd talk some more and pause again and say softer, "C'mere" and so I'd get right next to him and he'd finish up with something "really shocking". Can't remember anything he talked about, but he was interesting. Sort of.

The first guy sounds like Hannibal Lecter.

quote: I wonder....Do you guys think that folks were predisposed to be this way before becoming involved and that twi/ vpw simply fascilitated their sickness....or do you think that long time association with twi/vpw developed this in people? I don`t know it seems like many folks were able to stay wonderfull and caring through out their twi involvement. Further...do you think it was mental illness/defect involved or evil such as the bible speaks of ....or a combination of both? Just trying to put all of the pieces together here. All of the things you wondered are possible, but to me, there was a point in time when each individual succumbed to temptation or didn't. I was raised by my mom and she was frequently telling me that sex outside of marriage was nothing but trouble, and she wasn't even religious. So in HS I never had sex and never even put forth much effort to do so, although I had to say whatever I had to say to convince my peers I wasn't gay. But I saw many guys in my HS class get to the point where they were willing to routinely use girls for sex like it was a sport. So it was easy for me, after getting into the word, to classify the previously stated preoccupation with sex as being conformed to this world. Pretty much everybody that I knew about in TWI who took sexual liberties got in trouble for it. My first twig was all married couples except for me and one other single guy. One of our non twig activities was to take care of a garden. One time one of the married women in the twig was driving just me and her to the garden and she said to me, "We could do something 'terrible' and nobody would ever know." She was good looking. To be honest, she was WAY out of my league; I think the only reason she did this is because we were both stoned on pot at the time. But it really shook me up. Here I thought I was in a Christian fellowship with Christian people (SAFE from the world) and she had to go and say that. I blew her off and then later that day I called the guy who got me into the word. He said the devil got her and not to sweat it. The next time I saw her she looked really guilty and uncomfortable. If I had any inkling that this was done routinely by the BOT as depicted by this thread, I would have stopped going to twig right then. Fast forward 5 yrs. I'm at the Living Victoriously Class. This same woman is in the family corps. She was at the class staying in the single women's corps tent, while her husband was at Rome City with the kids. During one of our conversations she said to me, "I'm glad I'm married. My husband's a good husband; he does the word. Plus those single women are sooooo giddy!" Nothing more. They left TWI in the 80s and are still married. Everybody gets tempted with stuff. That woman could have ended up like Ramona B is being described here, but she didn't. And I could've kept on smoking pot, but I didn't. I just cannot picture VPW in 1942 sitting at his desk and thinking to himself, "Yeah, I'll tell everybody I saw snow on the gas pumps and then 25 yrs from now I'll go to Haight Asbury and get hippies to join my cult and in a few years I'll be swimming in poontang!!!!Yeah, baby!" [snip] Maybe his conscience got seared with a hot iron at some point, but even if all this is true, he wasn't born that way.

Sounds like at least one of those spirits didn't quite make it out.

A generation or 2 ago it was difficult to shack up because an overwhelming percent of society saw it as "living in sin". This is not true today. You didn't say how long you 2 have known each other, been dating, etc. I guess my question is...is living together the only way to determine if you guys are right for each other?

quote: What would most people say when seeing your post? Is that the message you MEANT to convey? Yep! Consider 1 Thes. 4:13-18. It clearly says to comfort one another with THESE words, yet many church Christians deliberately reject THOSE words in favor of "he/she's in a better place" or "he/she's up there with Jesus". If the exact words in that scripture don't comfort them, then it's THEIR FAULT!!!!! It's not just about the letter of the law WW. This "funeral" has been going on for 6 years. quote: I made the conclusion that God would be better served if I didn't treat His people like machines, You don't think that endless suffering makes people into "pain machines"? quote: elected to allow people to feel their pain as normal, and allow them to process it in ways that might have been mathematically improved upon, but were sufficient for the moment and WORKED. SIX YEARS!!! That is NOT "feeling pain as normal"!

quote: These people betrayed us ALL...even if we weren`t directly assaulted personally....even though we persanally were not driven to the point of suicide.....maybe not broken beyond repair.....twi leaders were DOING this to OUR innocent brothers and sisters unbeknownst to us with OUR support and living off of OUR contributions...their fresh new recruits supplied by OUR outreach and undershepherding.....we unknowingly led the victims to the slaughter Their appearance at legitimacy and spiritual Godliness was provided entirely by OUR bible teachings OUR appearance of good character.....OUR integrety.... They hijacked peoples lives and even peoples ministries .... people who simply wanted to make a difference for God in this world.....and maliciously decieved them into promoting and supporting a very evil harmfull group... They have betrayed EACH and every one ofUS...you and me.....anyone who ever presented scriptures to people desiring to help.....any of us who participated in or enrolled people in classes promising them all the answeres to life and Godliness.....anyone who ever invited people to fellowships or twi functions in good faith..... or ever supported twi financially....we did so under the belief that we were benefitting God and people.....we unkowingly provided the perfect camolflauge with our youthfull innocence for evil to reign unchecked. You're doing it again. You're telling everybody how to think, what to feel, and what they were exposed to. It's like you're trying to upstage everybody who gave an eyewitness account. It's like you're trying to outdo the impact of those testimonies. You really don't need to do that; it just waters down the impact. Leave it alone. Let God decide who got betrayed, or who got answers to life and godliness. YOU do not decide that for ME! quote: I dearly hope that there is to be a reckoning someday....I hope that there really IS a God and that there will be justice someday.... You HOPE there is a God??????? Excuse me but aren't you the same poster who, with authority, constantly refers to Galatians 5 about who is of the spirit and who isn't? Easy come easy go, huh? Of course there will be a reckoning some day. Some now reject the VP teaching that if you're born again you're going to heaven and all hell can't stop you. But even if what he taught is true, aren't we supposed to get rewarded for our Christian service? So if somebody HINDERS your ability to serve, whether by abuse or negligence, shouldn't that person get penalized? There's a God, all right, and His ways really ARE higher than the world's ways. Man's justice is fraught with error, but God's isn't. quote: I hope to HELL that we were taught in twi was wrong and that these people....these wolves ...false prophets are not going to slide by in the afterlife due to technicalities. Like I said, let God worry about that. You'll be a lot more peaceful.

I will hazard a guess. I once saw a brain teaser type thing in which you were shown 9 dots like so... . . . . . . . . . ...and the object was to draw triangles in which lines touched the dots in such a way that the only way it was possible to do it was to extend the sides of the triangle beyond the square box suggested by the dots. It's possible that the phrase "think outside the box" may also have come from this. The point of the brain teaser was to explore the idea that most people will just assume that they weren't supposed to draw anything outside the 9 dots even though nothing was stated to that effect.

quote: We were scammed! We were used! We cannot let these arseholes who protect vp's "integrity" (if that's what you want to call it) convince us that we did everything of our own free will. Hmm. OK, there's 1500 registered members, and at least 1/3 of them probably post at least once a week. So of the 500 who post once a week, probably at LEAST 75% agree with the above quote and another 20% although they may reluctantly admit that they used their freedom of will to be in TWI, they presently have nothing good to say about VPW. So that means that 5% (and that's definitely a high estimate) of us who "protect vp's integrity" are able to generate SO MUCH PRESSURE on GSC "public opinion" that those of you who agree with the quote are fighting for your lives?????? Reminds me of the Hall's Mentholiptus commercials where the pig people are in their brick house and the wolf boy is outside and when the wolf boy takes his Hall's then he can blow the brick house down. Not likely. What's up with the birthday part of the bottom of the general forums page? Socks is 100 yrs old? Satori is 5? Methinks one of the moderators was dippin' in the eggnog.

Yeah, they had to include throwing things from cars. Most of my snowball throwing days were in jr high but once in HS a friend had a big station wagon and 7 of us made a bunch of snowballs each and just deluged a car going the other way on the street we were on. So the car turns around and chased us down a cul de sac. Our car stalled and after a mild derogatory remark, the guy who was driving the other car helped us get ours started again.
