  1. I love being naked. I had a friend once who told me he drove around naked and jerked off. He's dead now. But, millions and millions of animals can't be wrong.
  2. I'm sorry you guys have your brains turned off, but I stand by what I posted.
  3. There's God's love and man's love. Only God's love will never betray you. Love is real. It's one of many appetites we are born with. We all desire being in a love relationship with someone. If there's proportionate give and take, it will work. But if someone you love betrays you, it will be all the harder to approach such a relationship the same way. I think the betrayal factor is why a lot of us have such issues with TWI. It's hard to give if you think everybody's out to take from you and run.
  4. The needs and wants parallel is simple. Needs and wants is a compound factor. They must be in harmony, making them one. In a math class it would be written as follows... (n+w) = needs and wants (one sum). Now. Get that one thing parallel to (not at cross purposes with) the word. In the pfal class VP held one hand above the other while he was saying "if your needs are down here and your wants are way up here, it won't flow", but when he actually said "your needs and wants must be parallel" his hands were side by side, forming an 8" line which happened to be "parallel" to his bible, which was directly underneath his hands.
  5. I have an acquaintance whose parents are Baptist missionaries in Brazil. They've been there for more than 20 years; he was raised there. He said their church saw steady growth and split twice while he was there, but there was a small group in the same community (didn't name them) who met in their home, spoke in tongues, and howled a lot. Every time he saw people go to the home it was the same people year after year, maybe 10 or so. What I'm getting at is, there's nothing wrong with Baptists and there's nothing wrong with home fellowships, but you're never "set for life". If you go to a big church, you tend to lose your individuality; if you go to a home fellowship, you tend to get narrow minded. Either way, you have to make adjustments from time to time. I went to a Baptist church in MI once where they moaned and grunted as part of the "worship". It was damn weird; kinda creeped me out. The same people who moaned and made noises were all smiles after the service and "Oh, bless yewww". Weird, I tell you. But I've been to home fellowships where they SIT and nobody howled. Like VP said, a church is comprised of people, not a building. I think one naive mistake a lot of us made was to think we were "set for life" in TWI. That VP wouldn't die, there would be no schism among us, that 'Jesus utopia way style' would just go on forever.
  6. Jesus certainly had an unusual doctrine to the Pharisees. It worked, too.
  7. I think TWI might agree with you on that. Once I heard HA teaching at a ROA and he deliberately used the word 'sin' to emphasize his point. Once I heard a 9th corps reverend witness to someone and use the word 'sinner'. It sounded weird both times but was done deliberately. I don't think anybody forgot that sin exists. As far as affecting your conscience, you can sear it with a hot iron whether you change terminology or not. How about 'advance' instead of retreat. Or cancelled due to lack of 'response' instead of lack of interest.
  8. TommyZ: I'll get back with you; the gang I hang with now does a lot of stuff like canoeing, camping, but we mostly go south west of STL more than 100 miles away. I'll get back with you.
  9. Interesting. During Living Victoriously VP said that the "most beautiful failure he'd seen from God's people was when they thought hoping was believing". No scripture says to believe "for" anything. I've often felt that some of the practical error didn't originate from VP, just well meaning people who didn't get it right.
  10. quote: Many English-speaking foreigners will tell you that they still THINK in their native language. And their native language is perfectly OK to others who speak that language. The real world is whatever you make it.
  11. I currently live in the best of both worlds. I live in STL county in a city with a population of just over 20,000. Within walking distance is the police station, city hall, a farmer's market, many small businesses, and yes, everybody knows everybody. But a scant 12 miles away is the arch and downtown and all kinds of big city stuff. I think the big cities have infiltrated the small towns more than the reverse, though. The town I was wow in, Rolla, MO is a college town. During the school year there's 13,000 people in it. In the summer it's a ghost town of about 3,000. Hard to ignore the college culture, but lots of outdoors type activities. Everybody I met was into something outdoors like. It wasn't Mayberry, but it wasn't STL, either.
  12. This is totally neat. Only 1 of the 8 teams that made the playoffs last year is in this year (NYY). The last 7 world series' have been won by 7 different teams. If this string is going to continue, then only Cleveland can win from the AL and Arizona can't win from the NL, but we'll see. There was a 10 year string like that from '78-'87. Parity is a good thing. Many of my fellow St. Louisans would disagree, but I kinda hope the Cubs win it all.
  13. A few years ago someone here accused John Hendricks of saying that the internet is of the devil. He didn't say that; but he said that to him it was one more thing that tempted people to spend too much time away from God. There's always a down side to technology. When railroad tracks were being laid from one end of this nation to the other there were people who thought railroad smoke would destroy crops. I'll bet there was a caveman who thought the invention of the wheel was dangerous. There was a book on time management TWI was pushing in some circles. It proved mathematically that if anyone really tried their best to get the maximum efficiency out of their time, they could run 50 corporations and still have time to spend with their families. No thanks, but time management is an issue. The internet among other things has pushed a lot of us to manage our time differently. But it's here and it's hard to ignore. Perhaps staying off of it for a season would be good, or limiting the time spent on it per day, but giving it up altogether? That would be hard to accomplish, IMO.
  14. Oh, that is WEIRD, really WEIRD. Too much. Is it too much, friends? OK man, you've been doing a lot of talking. HAND THEM OVER! Here you are. My God, this is incredible... Say thank you. Oots stll wmmm (it's still warm spoken with mouth full) Say thank you. THOOKYUW! Not with your mouth full; I'LL talk/ you eat. I'm eating. And while you're thanking me, be assured that that great guy upstairs...is thanking me...as YOU...are thanking me. I can feel it. Doesn't that change your whole life?
  15. I knew it. We now need a department of redundancy department.

    Playing At A Dance

Wow, Dave. When I was in college I lived with guys who were really into blues and other traditional styles of music. One time I heard a recording of mandolin orchestra from Russia from the 20s. Interesting stuff.

    oj simpson ?

I remember seeing a game he was in on TV. 1975 late in the football season. Minnesota vs Buffalo in Buffalo. Fresh snow had fallen. A lot of it. People were pelting Fran Tarkenton relentlessly with snowballs. OJ scored 2 touchdowns, one of which he caught a pass and was running down the left side of the field and 2 Minnesota defenders were closing in on him. He split them right in half and made it the rest of the way to the endzone. Awesome. Then a few years later he was the host of SNL. He was in a skit where he was watching a NFL game and Walter Payton was about to equal one of his records so he goes to the kitchen and gets a voodoo doll with a Chicago Bears jersey #34 and sticks a pin throught it. Then you hear on the TV the announcer says Payton fumbles the ball awwww. That's how I'm going to remember him. Giving place to the devil? Who cares?
  18. I had Mormons come to my door couple times in ther last few years. I was polite but firm. Point is, it's YOUR property. They have to respect that. You can be extreme like George or let them in or whatever, but it's YOUR house. If they get pushy, game over.
  19. Oh, it ain't no use if you ain't got the boost; the boost you get from looseners. LOOSEners. The all weather breakfast. What's that out house doing up there? That's our sun altar. Welp, we're going to have to move it. Cause the railroad's comin' through...right now (NING NING NING NING NING NING NING).
  20. WW when did you take it? I took it in '84 and there were several separate tests. Pfal book, hs book, jcing, adan, pfal collaterals, and research keys. You had to really bomb the whole test to not be allowed to take it. In '83 in STL only one person from the entire metro area went to the AC, so the next year somebody from the corps held AC candidate meetings monthly and that year more than 10 of us went. I didn't do well in the research part, but I got 98 out of 100 in the pfal book test and 116 out of 120 in the hs book test. They sent us our test scores.
  21. There was nothing indecent or out of order about the session 12s or excellor sessions. I notice you didn't even address the scriptures I gave (Acts 10 and Acts 19). There WAS something indecent and out of order about the way the Corinthians were doing it. Sure Pentecost was special; it was the original outpouring. So was Acts 10 for Cornelius' household and Acts 19 for those at Ephesus. No problem unless someone wants to make one. The believers being reproved in 1 Cor. 14 had already spoken in tongues. Why can't you see the simplicity of the difference. The truly important factors to consider are: decent and in order, which Pentecost, Acts 10, Acts 19, session 12, and excellor sessions are/were, and edification, exhortation, and comfort, which a message in manifestations is. Why should a 4th message of edification, exhortation, and comfort nullify the 3 that preceded it? Doesn't make sense, unless you allow that there's original outpourings, practice sessions, and protocol for "in the church". Paul's guidelines were for the purpose of getting those believers back on track, not laws to beat people over the head with forever. I don't need a special pipeline to God to be able to figure this out.
  22. quote: Oh how the mighty have fallen! Kind of reminds me of Daniel chapter 4 where Nebuchadnezzar got changed into a beast and had to eat grass for 7 years. Hopefully LCM's doing better than that. Hmm. It's been just past 7 years to the day that he got cast out after that deposition.
  23. quote: the day of Pentecost was a SPECIAL CASE, and no verse exists to indicate- either in Acts or elsewhere- that this was meant to ever be repeated. Nor is there any scripture or basis of logic that says it should NOT be repeated. quote: What happened in Acts 2 was quite different from what Paul addressed in I Corinthians. What about Acts 10:44-46? "For they heard THEM SIT and magnify God". They must've been doing it at the same time. Ditto Acts 19:6. You guys are all just grasping at any straw that will allow you to attack VP. It's not true cause VP said it and it's not FALSE if VP said it. When ya gonna come back to the word?
  24. I let my kids read and watch Harry Potter stuff. I figure my generation survived "Bewitched". quote: Do you remember the book "Angels of Light"? I think it was the book that detailed what devil spirit was involved in the behavior of people. Interesting book but, anyone reading it could quite easily forget that it takes the manifestation of discerning of spirits to determine the presence or non-presence of spirits and if present the identity of the spirit. It became a case where people were analyzing behavior and via sense knowledge determining the type of spirit. I suppose with such knowledge none of us really needed the manifestation of discerning of spirits. Some people couldn't handle reading that book because they started looking at themselves and wonder if they were possessed. Like I said -- interesting book -- but devoid of authority. If we can use a book's info to determine what devil spirit is present in an individual then why would God give us the ability to operate the manifestation of discerning of spirits? BINGO!!! In 1990 during corps week LCM sAid that Chris Geer had spirits of necromancy and spirits of lying...BECAUSE only a 5 star general would DARE say that "this BOT murdered VP in front of the whole corps". Just like you said: no discerning of spirits, just a 5 senses evaluation of what was said. VP spoke of senses faith. I guess LCM practiced 5 senses discerning of spirits. Speaking of fairies, that cartoon called "Fairly odd parents" on Nickelodeon has a teacher in Timmy's school who is obsessed about fairies. Every time he says the word 'fairies' he spazzes out.
  25. How ridiculous your logic is: read Acts 2. The 12 all spoke in tongues at the same time. Hello. Just because Paul told those Corinthian believers to do it by two, at most by three doesn't make it law. Those believers were practicing error and Paul gave them guidelines to get into better habits. It doesn't say that all believers everywhere for all time could not have more than three people SIT with interpretation. What? A black cloud is going to come into the room as soon as the fourth tongue with interpretation is heard? I think not. Can you come up with scripture that allows you to drive a car? I don't need scripture if simple horse sense can be used. Larry's right, it's legalism to insist that something is wrong when scripture doesn't.
