  1. There's a good ectoplasm scene in the 1973 movie 'Legend of Hell House' with Roddy Mc Dowell. They tried to get a little too cute IMO when somebody asked the ectoplasm to leave a sample in the glass and then the medium went ballistic.
  2. I heard that Robert Schuller (sp) the minister who has that crystal palace in California took foundational PFAL. I didn't hear if Eldridge Cleaver actually took PFAL but that Ralph D was "working with him" or something. Yeah, I'm sure it wouldn't have been pretty if Prince tried to do way prod stuff with front splits and other gymnastic type stuff on stage.
  3. Two things occur to me: 1) Nobody "murdered" her. They just let her die. Before that they were forcing her to live; if they'd just let her lie down in a bed she'd have died long ago. If someone should be kept alive for that much time, then there needs to be consent on the part of whoever is paying the bills and sacrificing their time/life. 2) The reason those people say they are outraged is because they want to reverse Roe vs Wade through the 'back door'.

    Toilet Seat Positions

PEEple, PEEple! I can produce quality stuff with the roll from the back or I could hash my stool to pieces with the roll from the front. DON'T you SEE it? In order to KNOW that you KNOW that you're in perfect fellowship, the following step MUST be taken. Go out and purchase a log book with 7 or 8 columns in it. Then, every time you take a dump, measure each piece for texture, size (in inches), hue, appearance of corn or some other undigested particle, and keep doing it faithfully. If the overall appearance is dark brown, average size 6 - 8 inches, and no blemishes, then you're surely walking with your Lord in good standing. Two more things... 1) If you're sick and it comes out liquid, you're surely out of fellowship, so make a red check mark through the entire column of the ledger. 2) One day out of the year (preferably fall season) select a good quality specimen. Take it out into the woods, close your eyes, toss it with the left hand over the right shoulder, and pray. This atones for all unclean issue from the whole year. God bless you!

    Band of Gold

Yeah, that's it. I was in a ministry band that played it; we had 4 part harmony, Beach Boys style. Lot of the believers seemed to like our version of it, but Suzy Wassung was a WOW in STL her interim year and that Christmas there was a party at someone's house and Steve was there and he played that song...MAN, he could even get his guitar to sound like a softly flowing stream, or the suggestion of it. Singing navel, huh? Never heard about that one. Actually, the 3rd line in the first verse should be UNwanted by the world, not 'and wanted'.

Yes! Luke 13:1 - There were present at that season some that told him of the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. Would Jesus have "supported Pilate" by dying for his sins?

Vickles: He was grinning like a little kid while he did that ding-a-ling song. It occurred to me that besides his being famous and having enough money to live well, it must be incredible for someone his age to still be able to give and receive like that on a regular basis.

Linda: Age truly doesn't mean what it once did. As I was waiting in line to get in there were 2 teens, a few of us 40/50 somethings, and even a few 70 somethings drink in hand. I don't remember being really prejudiced against older people when I was a teen, but back then a lot of older people (30 and up) seemed to really hate the whole rock and roll scene. Last year I went to Ozzfest and the teens around me were OK; they asked me who I was there to see and seemed impressed that I would show up to something like that.

    Chuck Berry

Well. I finally made the effort to see him perform. He's 78 yrs old and he plays live once a month at this night club he part owns called Blueberry Hill. The campus of Washington University is nearby and Delmar St is to Wash U what Telegraph Ave is to UC Berkley; neat atmosphere. Figured he might die on me if I didn't see him. I didn't really expect much. He's a legendary kind of performer and I just wanted to see him since he lives in the area and all. Well, he played for 1 hour 20 minutes and he can still do that duck walk thing and he actually does play his guitar. Every so often he's play the wrong chord and be lost for a measure or 2, but he's still ever the showman. The place is small; holds 100 people, limited seating, but very enthusiastic crowd. He did several hits: Mabeline, Johnny B. Good, Nadine, Sweet little 16, Roll over Beethoven, Hail hail rock and roll, My ding-a-ling, Around and around. Few others. So now I can die happy, I guess. It was fun.
  11. A friend from New Jersey visited me in STL. We went to the farmer's market downtown. The friend says to a vendor, "Can I have a pop?" Vendor makes a fist and says jokingly, "Where ya want it?"
  12. 65% Dixie I lived in... Michigan - 37 yrs Missouri - 13 yrs California - 1 yr Technically, MO is a southern state, so the Dixie stuff must be highly contageous.
  13. You missed my point. I have no concern whatsoever with the spiritual nature of anything discussed on this thread. My point is: if there is entertainment value to be found in pro sports, music, or literature, then I'm not going to pretend that I'm not entertained anymore just because of a few cheaters. You can bring all pro athletes to the 'junk table' if you wish, but I'm going to enjoy my entertainment choices even if it means ignoring some dirty laundry. By taking your stand, you are not only throwing out the baby with the bath water, you're throwing out the bath tub and the water supply as well.
  14. So, should I get rid of all my 60s music because the artists used pot and acid? Should I get rid of my Sherlock Holmes books because Doyle was a spiritualist? Just how big of a "scorched earth" policy are we talking about here?

    The system works?

Guess it depends on who the retailer is and how much $ he contributed to the judge's re election.
  16. Yes, because everybody would use them.
  17. If they do anything to the record books it will do more harm than good IMO. One thing about baseball that is different from the other three major pro sports is that EVERY player must be a complete player. Every player must hit, field, and run the bases with the same skill level. Sure, pitchers are allowed to not be good hitters and power hitters are allowed to hit .250 instead of .280 but every player has to be on the same page whether they're at bat, in the field, or on the bases. The other sports are not like this. We all remember the embarassing Leon Lett play on Thanksgiving day of what? 1993? Leon was an all pro defensive lineman, but his lack of knowledge of the rules of the game regarding special teams cost his team that game. Football, basketball, and hockey players are specialists: they know and apply one phase of their game and that's it. If they stray from their sphere of expertise all hell can break loose. Not in baseball. In baseball if it's game 7 and the bases are loaded with 2 out and the game is on the line, the consequences are the same no matter who's up to bat and no matter who's pitching. Remember game 1 of the 1988 series? The 'godfather of steroids' hit a grand slam home run that hit the center field camera giving the A's a 4-3 lead, but gimp Kirk Gibson had the final say. Steroids seem to only pad statistics, not bring championships. Like Simon says, there's no way to prove when any player used them and how much they affected any particular at bat. Any zero tolerance policy would probably take the fun out of the game for fans. In 2001 I saw McGwire hit a home run over the center field fence at Busch Stadium off Greg Maddux. I was sitting in the 4th row of the upper deck about 75 feet from the left field foul pole so I had a good cross sectional view of it. It was awesome! I don't care if he drank toxic waste, that was just too cool. Those who take steroids are harming themselves more than anyone else. There's always going to be kids stupid enough to buy that any chance they have to make it in the pros depends on steroids. It's like rock stars and drugs: eventually enough people are going to be harmed that fewer and fewer people will want to take them.
  18. Yes. If someone is a true leader, they have to lead by example, not just verbally. 1 Peter 3:1 - Likewise ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that if any obey not the word they also may without the word be won by the conversation (behavior) of the wives. Us guys are lucky that sometimes our wives have covered for us.
  19. Seems like a reworked astrology system. I am a non conformist, which fits some, but VPW is a romantic and LCM is an originator. Hmm.
  20. Everybody abuses others; it's human nature. Some do it as bullies, to have an advantage over others, while some know that it's best avoided and only do it under pressure. Who among us hasn't snapped at someone (like our kids perhaps) out of impatience. I don't think guys have the patent on abuse. My mother (born 1910) once told me that her mother locked my mother's sister in a closet for 2 days as punishment. I also heard that my dad's dad had to have the police called on him by his wife a time or 2 for the way he spanked my dad and his sister. Think about it. The most abuse you ever got was from those you trusted (family, TWI, school friends, etc.).
  21. With the Terminator in that state maybe justice will speed up.
  22. Belle: What did you LOVE to do pre TWI that you had to give up for TWI lent? Reading material? Music? Sports? There's gotta be something. Any people associated with those things? There's lots of strings you haven't pulled yet probably. There has to be something you did just for the sheer enjoyment of it, not for "spiritual reasons".

    Define This

So that Russian guy on Star Trek would go to Blimpie's and order a 'wedgie' sub.
  24. I don't know if I post less; I never kept a running tally, but some discussions seem to resurface over and over again and, while I certainly must allow for new posters to discover what I and others have discovered and also allow those same posters to have time to react, I don't feel the need to keep saying the same thing if I have nothing new to contribute.
