It is a play on the term "KGB" to describe those in the Way who are tasked to keeping track of what goes on at GS and other anti-Way sites, as well as "smoking out" any "innies" who post here.
-
Also with due respect...the use of sarcasm and insulting terms may not be considered helpful to some, but maybe it's helpful to the person venting. Maybe some "innies" will be turned off by the heat and even venom in a post, but perhaps it will get the attention of some. Personally, when I first came to WayDale & Grease Spot Cafe, I took it all as a whole; the calm reasoned speeches along with the screaming and sarcasm, and made my decision on what to believe based on an accumulation of all that I read. Also personally :D--> I normally try to present my points in a calm and logical manner, but at other times my approach can be "Screw these @#$&%#'s and the horse they rode in on - they f---ed me over! Keep in mind, that no matter if we present ourselves in a polite and reasonable manner or in a rude and insulting manner, to most of the "innies" we are "cop-outs", we have "left the household" or whatever term of "endearment" that they are now using to describe us. Those who really want to know will wade through it all.

Oh, it's new and spiffy-looking alright, and they've done a fine job of keeping the riff-raff out. --> I especially like the look of this: Yup, let's make sure that any nasty "questions" are funelled through the "leaders". Gotta protect our people from thinking, doncha know. Here's another feature, just in case they unwittingly let a troublemaker register: They fix spelling too...wow! And some of you guys complain about the spelling police here on GS!Several of us were over there a while back, and while a few pointed questions were asked, none of us were rude or insulting, yet posts and threads were deleted. Yet "innies" have complete access to come to GS. John Linder is registered here, Harve Platig had his letter printed here. "Innies" and TWI sympathizers can posts their opinions, question our motives and intents, rip us all new assholes for having the opinions that we do, yet the folks at Family Tables can't allow any open dialog or any opinions that are not officially sanctioned by TWI, despite their non-affiliation. It's their website, and they can do whatever they want, but it points out the cowardly nature of those involved in TWI.

excathedra, you obviously are not believing for dental wholeness. -
The so-called spiritual significance of numbers reminds me of an example of someone over spiritualizing: (By the way, Bullinger wrote that numbers were figures of speech used in the bible, to indicate and confirm meanings, not that these numbers would have magical significance in the "real" world) I was once asked to sit down with the wayfers in our area to explain several ballot initiatives and referenda in the upcoming election. We had quite a few young wayfers who would be voting for the first time, and several expressed confusion over the wording of some of the things on the ballot and the reprecussions. I started through the various initiatives, explaining what they were intended to do, and what their opponents and proponents said about them, in order that the new wayfer voters would be able to make an informed decision. When I got to Initiative 4, a long-time grad piped up with "and we all know what the Word teaches about the number 4" and began to expound upon how the meaning of the number 4 was a clue as to the consequenses of voting for this initiative. I let her finish, and added that the numbers were assigned randomly, and that the number had no significance whatsoever. Sheesh

During my last ten years in TWI, we had so few people in our area that dating wayfers exclusively was difficult. Most of the single guys were in their late teens or early twenties, the single women were mostly divorced women in the late thirties with kids. What they did do was put pressure on people to bring the folks they were dating to TWI events, fun nights, picnics, and then fellowships. If they didn't want what TWI was selling, they should be dumped. The last WayAP class that was run while I was still in consisted of, in addition to children of grads, two girlfriends of grads.

I hadn't heard anything about it, but then again I've not been keeping up lately. Part of the problem with unstable currencies is that sometimes, the old currency is scrapped a new one started. I expect we'll see that if and when the Iraqi economy gets on it's feet they'll be at least one change in the currency, making the next-to-worthless dinars totally worthless. I wouldn't be surprised if the medium of exchange is the US dollar in Iraq right now.

ex10 - t5hat's the related topic of "is it ever okay to lie?", as opposed to "what is a lie?"

Oh, it was humorous alright! :D--> Maybe another day. I used to tell some of the my WOW years stories to my kids at bedtime...they'd ask for them

...that would be neat!

well, I'm blessed that you're blessed (shouldn't we post this on Family Tables?), but I only said I learned and grew, because I rationalized the crap into learning experiences. It was a cluster ----

Some of us had a rough time as WOWs, but rationalized it away in some fashion. We were taking a stand for God, we were being toughened up & conditioned, we stood in the face of adversity, etc. My WOW year was more a comedy of errors than a horror story, although there were horrible moments WOWs were sent out to various small Nebraska towns that year 5000-15,000 in size. We were sent to a town where the only reason that you didn't marry your cousin was because your sister was prettier. Within a month one of the WOW families was sent home because the interim 10th corps leaders had (according to what we heard) problems in their marriage. One of the non-WOWs transported many of us in a bus that he owned. The bus broke down in central Iowa. We waited 3 days for it to be repaired. One WOW sister was pregnant when she arrived, got an abortion in Denver and thought she was pregnant again several months later. Our coordinator was 20 years old, interim corps, very immature. He was lazy, and most of his jobs were those where he could set his own hours. The hours that he set involved sleeping in after the rest of us went to work. Later in the year he worked putting in a lawn for our landlord, failed miserably and had to apy back the discount on the rent that our landlord paid him. Of course he had no job and no money, so the rest of us had to pay it back. He also thought he was God's gift to women, and was always hitting on somebody, including both our WOW sisters. (unsuccessfully I might add) We were the targets of an organized campaign to drive "cults" out of our assigned city. Radio programs, flyers, public meetings, rock throwing; you name it. By the time we got down to the last few months we were all just marking time until our year was up in August. We weren't making any attempt to "do the program". To top it off, while staying in a hotel on our way to the ROA, someone came into our hotel room while we were sleeping and stole all our cash. :(--> And yet, despite all of that I always said that I learned a lot in my WOW year. I talked about these incidents, but in the context of "learning", and "growing". btw, I don't think so now :D-->

In August 1979 I had been a PFAL grad for 17 months and was moving into a Way Home. Naturally, "leadership" made the decision as to who would be the Way Home Coordinator/Twig Leader...must have been of God, right? It was a guy who had taken PFAL with me the previous year. One morning, one of the women who lived in the WH stayed home from work and tried unsucessfully to make a phone call. She went to the corner pay phone and found out from the phone company that we were shut off because we were several months behind in our payments. She called me and the other woman who lived there. We made some phone calls (from work) to our other utilities and found out that none of them were paid. That night we three confronted our WH Coordinator, who was responsible for collecting our share of rent & bills and making the payments. He admitted to drinking and gambling our money away. We called our Branch Coordinator and told him we were throwing the bum out. BC told us that we didn't have the authority to do that since we weren't the ones who put him there. He convinced us that we should keep this S.O.B. in our home, but he would be replaced as leader. He agreed to pay all the back bills, and would no longer be in control of the finances. I was appointed Family Coordinator & Twig Leader. He paid the back utilities with rubber checks. We gave him three days to get out. BC said we were unloving and should have consulted with him. We said, "sure, how about we throw his foot out tonight?" Spiritual decisions -->

Personal stories: that's mainly what hooked me to WayDale & later Grease Spot Cafe. I had been hearing bad stuff about TWI as far back as 1979, but never gave it much credence. It was the first-hand testimony of people who had stories and experiences very similar to mine that made the difference. After lurking and later posting I made contact with several ex-Way folks, by phone and by email. The man behind the curtain was revealed! An aside: when Paul & Bev M were RC's in Washington, two freinds of mine who had recently moved there from Nebraska emailed our family to tell us how great the DTA class had been, and how The Mos-----s had set the syllabus aside and just "taught from the Word!!! It wasn't too much later that Paul & Bev were out of TWI.

I never understood the blanket "drop kicking" of those Way Corps who were married to non-Corps. Some of these people had been running fellowships, branches, even limbs for years, some ordained clergy, then *poof* - yer unworthy!

I think it's the intent to deceive that makes it lying. If, by leaving out critical information, you allow someone to think that a situation is different than what it is, that's lying. If you are repeating information that you believe is true, you may be many things, but you're not lying.

LOL...I try to make a habit of not telling someone what to do when I can't do what they're doing...I think giving birth is at the top of that list :D-->

Seth: I am now cleaning orange juice off my monitor after spewing it while laughing at your post

On several threads recently, I have seen people accused of lying. One accusee explained that he was misinformed and apologized for not doing his homework. He was ripped for lying anyway. Is something a lie simply because it does not equal absolute truth? Isn't it be possible to be mistaken? Isn't it possible to misinterpret events or motivations? Isn't it possible to be just plain stupid? :D--> My ex-wife was like that, if I forgot what the exact amount the electric bill was and told her it was $25.40 and it was really $24.50...holy carp! I was LYING!!! I saw it in numerous fellowships: A new person would express an opinion that was "off the Word" according to TWI doctrine. "That's a LIE" the leader would thunder. Geez, great motivation to come back --> Maybe it's been here at GS all along and I'm just noticing it now. What is a lie?

Because you can't stand to see someone throw around scientific sounding terms in support of something that has not been proven to work? Because you don't like seeing people b.s.ed by someone who tries to sound informed? There are plenty of things out there that seem to work, but where there are no tests proving a correlation, much less proof of a cause-effect relationship. Heck, there are things that I do when I'm sick that seem to work for me, which I wouldn't dream of promoting as a universal cure. But when a promoter of one of these products or whatever starts spouting scientific sounding words, and producing "data" to support the claims, then it's fair game, open season. Those who use these products are not being attacked by those, like Zixar, who produce real facts to counter the quackery. But if you want to claim that something works because the pressure is such-and-such, or the pH is something-or-another,a nd someone shows that what you claim is physically IMPOSSIBLE, then maybe you should be glad for the education. And then this quote: Does the author of this quote realize that Zixar is a bible believing Christian? He's not one of those infidel atheists.

WordWolf, the resident expert on summaries has declined to provide one, so here's what I've got so far: Rochelle sure was great LEAD was tough The truck went into a ditch People got hurt Other people waved as the plane went over HCW is shorter than he used to be A new metric to inches conversion is introduced It's all the Trustees' fault No it's not Yes it is Shut up Oldies No HCW took advanced driver training & saw the other guy do the same evasive moves that HCW had been trained to do Derailers are disrespecting Rochelle's memory It's still the Trustees' fault Good things happened in TWI dammit!
