    Sport vs. Game

Shaz, If your point is that many events are concidered sports that shouldn't be... I agree... When an event is power assisted (has a motor), the driver is just along for the ride. Granted the driver must have good skill and reflexes etc... They call some events "Motor Sports" as if to say this isn't a "real" sport. Horse raceing could be called a team sport where the athlete does the raceing and carrying the weight of the "partner" who is along for the ride...

    Sport vs. Game

I don’t think that physical dexterity should be the determining factor on deciding if something is a sport or not. Granted, physical dexterity is an important part of any sport. Other elements should include physical exertion (aerobic and/or an-aerobic) and skill. Is NASCAR a sport? Is driving a sport? Isn’t the driver mostly in the “seated” position? When you look at a truck at a truck stop do you think, “That’s an athlete”? Darts, billiards, throwing cards into a hat, tossing a wad of paper in a trashcan require physical dexterity and skill. None of these should be considered a sport (IMO).

    When is it OK?

If nothing else this draws attention to the importance of haveing a living will. I am pretty sure what I would want done to/for me in that type of situation. Here is an ugly question... What if one our loved ones was in this condition and we had to make the decision, what would you do? Hopefully, we will never have to answer that question.

    Sport vs. Game

This is a carry over from a discussion from a racquetball forum that I frequent... What started the topic is that "darts" are treated as a sport on espn2 and racquetball dosen't get (IMNSHO) as much coverage as it should...
  10. Raf, Are you the one in charge of said rules on pizza? Should we start refferring to you as the MOP (Man of Pizza)? :P-->
  11. I just had an evil thought... If we could find all the comments that Raf has made about Pinnaple Pizza and send them to his co-workers :D--> I know what I would do if I got an e-mail like that about one of my co-workers :P--> ;)-->
  12. Raf you are right, this is supposed to be about you being the devil. And those two pinapple crowns on your head are supposed to be horns :D-->
  13. Have a fantastic Birthday!
  14. We need to get coolchef to weigh in on this issue. Pinapple goes with pizza like rum goes with coke.
  15. Shell, That sounds more like a sandwich than pizza... Dosen't the lettuce wilt? What ever makes you happy :D-->

    Sport vs. Game

A sport vs. a game What makes a game a sport? I think that most people can agree that there are many games that are sports due to physical nature of the competition. Such as: Basketball, football, hockey, tennis, racquetball, soccer, running, etc… Why are the following sports? Fishing, darts, billiards, golf, bowling, archery, shooting, etc… Yes, these require skill. If these are sports, is it because of arm/hand movement? (if so, then so should the activity of what aroused boys/men… ) IMO, a sport requires some degree of athletic ability. Granted there is a degree of risk in some of the games listed. (I have seen a guy with a dart in one hand and a beer in the other). I also think that half the people on the golf course could get a DWI while they drive those golf carts. What do you think?
  17. What do you mean by "IF"...
  18. Steve, Did the post card make it to the school?
  19. Ashley Smith is very brave and smart.
  20. IMO, most contractors that have a contract with the government are like "pampers"... They are disposible and usually full of $h!t... I thought I started a thread amout this a few weeks ago... There is nothing patrotic about government contracts. It's simply business. BB, Your friend will only lose his job if his company lays him off. He might be able to get hired by the company that got awarded the contract (of course he would lose any senority and might have to take a salery cut). As far as patorism goes... I was in the Army and Army Reserves for over 20 years (and am now retired). For a job... I am a Department of Defense Civillian employee who works on an Army installation in a budget office.
