  1. Our tap water is so bad that I won't even put it in the car rediators. We use RO or bottled water for drinking and cooking, softened water for washing, even the cars.
  2. Bringing it back on top. That time of year...
  3. Tick always seemed like a one-master dog and didn't have a lot of time for someone else. There was also some sort of retriver at HQ and I think it was Howard's dog. He was pretty friendly and he wouldn't eat cooked millet. Two pluses.
  4. I wonder if there's anyone left to run the video...
  5. What if a man doesn't keep the engine compartment of his car clean? Will he get a prostate infection?
  6. Making and having friends is not something that comes easy to many of us. I think that I was pulled into TWI because of the "ready made" group of friends that it provided. I don't think that I was the only one so motivated. I never had a close friend before TWI and my only close friends now are my family. My wife, whose only involvement with TWI was the foundational class, is greatly bothered with her lack of friends. She's done lots of social stuff to try to find someone, but it's coming up on 2 years of efforts with no good results. I'm pretty much resigned to not having close friends other than my wife and daughter. I do have business associates whose company I enjoy, but other than that and family, I'm pretty much a loner.
  7. Large barn owl "decoys" are very popular here. I'm not sure what they are used to frighten away. Want me to look around for you?
  8. Dead wood burns the hottest. I'm glad to be in good company.
  9. First a fair warning. I just read the 3x5 card thread and I'm ....ed. So ....ed that I probably shouldn't be posting. That said, yes, it goes in cycles, and yes, we've lost the edge. I'm still upset that so many good threads that were on Waydale are gone for good, locked up in a few privileged CD-ROMS. Threads that seriously exposed leadership. A level of exposure that has never been approached here at GS. If I had had the foresight, I would have backed up as much of Waydale as I could and found a way to meke public the best of the threads. But alas, we have what we have. If we've lost the edge it's because the years are fading our memories and we're busy growing old. At least TWI is growing old too. So Paw does what he has to do and we do what we have to do and life goes on.

    TWI Scams

"I can tell how hot a person is spiritually by the amount of work he does in the physical realm" - Scammed us into busting our asses so as to appear spiritual. "5 minuter of speaking in tongues is as restful as 8 hours of sleep" - Scammed us out of thousands of hours of sleep as we put in 20 hour days. "God gives a man one big chance in life" - Scammed us into believing that if we walked away from TWI, we'd be walking away from the only big chance God would give us in our lifetime. I'm living proof that God gives a man more than one big chance. "The only way the Word will move is with door-to-door witnessing" - Scammed us into pushing green cards like a bunch of Kirby salesmen.
  11. "Perhaps you have a better DVD burner than I do. Most movies have to be put on two DVDs because they are dual layer, while my burner is single layer. I didn't even know you could buy dual layer DVD burners now. What brand do you have?" I'm not speaking authoritatively here, but my understanding is that the video on studio-released DVD's is close to HDTV quality. This quality is pretty much overkill for a standard NTSC television so X-copy downsamples the data to match the resolution of your set. This frees up enough room to fit both layers on a single-sided target disk.
  12. Close, but no cigar. The difference is that there is positive copy protection technology in DVD's and not in CD's Ever since the DMCA it's been illegal to circumvent copy protection technology. The technology doesn't exist in the Red Book specifications for audio CD's hence it is not illegal, in itself, to copy them. Note that the content is still protected by copyright.
  13. They are brine shrimp. I used to raise platies, a common live-bearing tropical fish and I would have to hatch brine shrimp to feed to the babies. The 2 year figure is for the dry eggs. They'll probably last alot longer, I've heard 10 years. Once you've hatched them, they may live a couple weeks with minimal care. Here's more information about brine shrimp than you'll probably ever want: http://www.ee.pdx.edu/~davidr/discus/articles/artemia.html
  14. I forgot. Berenstain Bears. My daughter loved them. Great stories, great art.
  15. As a parent, my daughter and I liked "The Velveteen rabbit", "Hello Moon", and "Where the Wild Things Are". As a kid, I liked "The Spaceship Under the Apple Tree" and "A Wrinkle in Time". In my early teens, I read a lot of Heinlein science fiction.
  16. VPW used to say something like "God often gives a man one big chance in life". TWI has had theirs.
  17. I'd like to clarify this a little. To the best of my knowledge if you are in greasespot, and click the link above to go to theway.org, your browser *will* give TWI's server both your IP address *and* gscafe.com's IP address as the referrer. TWI's server probably ignores the referrer but we don't know. If this is a concern to you, just go into theway.org from google or something. I really don't want to go into any more detail with this lest TWI uses the information against us.
  18. What the he|| does that mean?? I never heard that, but I wasn't around for his administration. Please give me some details.
