  1. Sounds like something ate your cookies.
  2. I think that in some ways the staff had it easier than the rank-and-file believers. I'd often crank up Jackson Browne loud in the A/V shop to test equipment and nobody ever said a word.
  3. "Gave up" is probably a little stronger than reality for me. More like it would be "kept in the closet". It's been a real joy to be able to guiltlessly enjoy all kinds of music since I've gotten over TWI. Last weekend I went to my daughter's annual high school music show. A group of music theory students performed a composition using Lewis Carroll's "Jabberwocky" poem set to a rock-hiphop melody. It was stunning. I enjoyed it immensely and felt none of the guilt that TWI would have us feel.
  4. Would I go? If it involved any of the below, the answer would be no: 1. Mud 2. Thunderstorms 3. Bless Patrol 4. Circus Tents 5. Golf Carts 6. Beautiful Ohio 7. Humidity above 80% 8. Communal showers 9. ID bracelets 10. Hierarchical nametags

    Back To TWI?

Aren't they already hanging out with Geer, Lynn, et al?
  6. Ok, can someone tell me exactly what Real Clean was? Some sort of window washing franchise is the closest I can remember. Who started it and where did the money go?
  7. My personal most loathed and detested phrase was: "Checkup from the neck up" Give me a fsking break. What preppy corps person came up with that?
  8. You're the man, George. Here's his website: http://www.brojed.org/
  9. I guess it was just me that remembers the lemonade. It was served for free after each session. Now it's possible that I've confused PFAL 77 with Advanced Class 79 and that's where the crappy lemonade was at....
  10. It's been 27 years and still, each time I see a can of Countrytime Lemonade, I think of PFAL 77. Between the heat, the humidity, the crappy lemonade and the weird guy running around thumping his Bible at us, it's not a good memory.
  11. One way to get insight is to have a religious conversion and then get over it Margaret Mead
  12. EOB - Executive Office Building, where the higher-ups had their offices along with accounting and legal. BRC - Biblical Research Center, The first TWI building, used for Sunday Night Teaching until the auditorium was built. OSC - Outreach Services Center, Bookstore to include tape duplicating and printshop, A/V shop, shipping and receiving, child care and storage. Way Woods - Wooded area away on the other side of Wierwille road used for campfires and such. Corps Chalet - Log house originally built for VPW to retire to, taken over by LCM and wife, now occupied by wife. The Barn - Original Weirwille farm barn, no animals now, just motorcycles and meeting place for staff hunters. The Pond - Filthy duck pond used to "baptize" people on their birthday. The Farmhouse - The original Weirwille farm home. Ambassador One - A Convair 580 (I think) that was used by VPW and staff. Sold around 1978. Acts 2? - Cessna Centurian used for staff travel. Current status unknown. Closed Corporation - A meeting where the subjects discussed were not to be made known outside of the attendees. Locked Box - a subject or discussion not to be brought up or revealed again. Book of Life - Database of all people active and past active in TWI. There's lots more, but I'm gettin tired.... Anyone remember the cute name of the department that did haircuts? How about the real name of the creek called the River Jordan? What did we call the theater in New Bremen or Minster that Way Productions used? What about the Kip Farm, Squeaky Clean, and Lead?

  14. He was an insufferable prick. We all knew it, just like the emperor's clothes.
  15. I got chewed out for letting a microphone cable show in the first High Country Caravan shoot. Does that count?
  16. But wasn't it just a little bit funny? A classic example of "getting a life", but at the wrong place. About all I can remember is corps and corps wannabee's carrying around briefcases for no apparent reason. I thought the hand-tooled leather bible cases were much classier.
  17. To the best of my knowledge, no. My picture was never in the Way Magazine. Of course I could be wrong - I was with TWI for 18+ years without ever buying a copy. Probably something of a record.
  18. igotout, you're a hard act to follow, but I gotta give it a shot... You Might Be In A Cult If........ You ever put on a suit to listen to a phone call. You think a Twig Hopper sounds more like a motorcycle than an insect. The word "tick" reminds you of a dog instead of something on a dog. You think The River Jordan is in Ohio. You've considered feeding millet to human beings. You've ever wondered where 15 years of your life and tens of thousands of your dollars went.

    Insulting

There was sure a lot of leadership from Kansas for not being in Kansas anymore...
  20. jell remler, Thank you sir, may I have another?
  21. Yes. I don't know the exact dates, but I think he had set up and was running the A/V department by about 1973. VPW send him and some Way Prod people to Los Angeles in the mid-to-late 70's for a year. Other than that, he's been there continuously.
  22. I'll put my money on a 15 to 1 longshot. Joe Coulter. The only one that knows and sees more at HQ is Linder and he's not going to be president. Joe and his wife are squeeky-clean poster kids for the "new" TWI. He has manaaged to dodge or surf all the political entanglements over the last 40-some years and still stay in power. He has also shown himself to be a thrify, selfless leader who's not afraid to drive staff hard. Time will tell.
  23. I'd take an honest atheist/agnostic over a hypocritical Christian any day.
  24. Zix, I think that Hill Street Blues was the TV show that started the shakycam stuff. I don't mind a little, but it's easily overdone. The Shield is one of my favorite shows and I think it overdoes it. The Steadycam was a wonderful invention. It's sad that it's discarded in favor of shakycam.
  25. Can someone take a look at the dates on the earlier messages and tell me whether they are correct or not. I could have sworn that the posts previous to mine were in 2003. Mucking up the dates in a forum envronment is a pretty bad bug and Paw will probably want to report it if it's so.
