The Ohio Legal Aid Society provides free or inexpensive legal aid to people that can't afford a lawyer. Here's where to find a member: http://www.oslsa.org/OSLSA/PublicWeb/DeskRef/

A fresh cup from a fresh bag of Peet's is the best there is. I let Peet do the grinding because I don't have the time or inclination. I have noticed that the first few pots out of a fresh bag are better than last even though I try to seal the bag up tight.

Big day, big day, big day. Wow, I get to miss it. All I can remember is humping television cameras and cable over to the "Cultural Center" and humping them back when it was over. Can't remember what the actual celebration was...

Not to change the subject too much, but on this page: http://www.theway.com/Monthly/10Oct/Oct06.htm I noticed multiple references to "Jesus" This strikes me as odd given VPW's propensity for the use of "Christ" or "Christ Jesus" as the proper name for our Saviour. When did that get changed?

Ok, this really belonged in the why buy the whole pig for just a little sausage thread. When my daughter was 16 I warned her that young men were like puppies. They are cute and fun to play and cuddle with, but it's only a matter of time before they wreck your stuff and make a mess on your bed... She's 19 now and agrees... Apologies to GSers with sons who might be offended...

I'm sure he does something to "stiffen his resolve".

On and off I have the same problem. Especially if I had any caffeine the afternoon before. Try a couple of baby asprins and a book. That's the best thing I've found.

I'm sorry, I couldn't read it all. I happen to be one of those people that find it easier to love dogs than people (family and a couple of close friends excepted). I'm glad there's a group that can step in and rescue the poor animals.

I certainly do. And I remember trying to go back and find an American-made ceiling fan. All made in China. Of all the duplicious stuff Walmart has been accused of, the great Made-in-America switcheroo was the worst.

Nobody holds a gun to a salesman's head and makes him sell to Walmart. I should know, I built a company that manufactures and sells stuff and I've had to walk away from high-volume deals that looked like they *might* be good if *everything* went right and the customer reordered. But any little problem could have you selling your product for cost or less. I don't like to gamble. When I sell my products, I'm much happier to sell less and get a fair profit on every sale. Besides, it's way easier to maintain high quality when you're producing less and you have the time and money to find and fix quality issues when they happen. Back in the 80's there was a saying in the computer peripheral business.. "The quickest way to go broke is to get a big order from IBM". So there's nothing new about Walmart's behavior. Let the Chinese build their stuff and let the people that don't know/care buy it. Believe it or not, there are good markets for specialty stuff of all kinds that can be made in the US for a profit. But it's not stuff that will ever sell in Walmart.

If he's on the BOD, he's entitled to director's fees and free transportation to directors' meetings per IRS rules.

Back on-topic, The $4 prescription brings up a real interesting question for me. I belong to an HMO and I get my prescription drug through their pharmacy. I have to pay a $10 copay for *any* prescription. How is it that Walmart, a for-profit corporation can charge $4 and my non-profit HMO charges $10+ for those 300+ drugs on the Walmart program? I intend to write a letter and try to get some answers.

My terrier was sick and wouldn't eat. I poured molasses over his kibble and he would eat that.

I was just thinking this morning that we haven't heard much from Paw. I also miss Matilda and her great stories... Where are you? Homeboy Alfacat hasn't been around for awhile either.

Well, they thought it was funny. Being an electrical engineer with a very well developed 'fling' reflex when I feel a shock, no, it wasn't funny. OTOH, the place is a little rough and eccentric, but the food and service is great. I still left a tip and I'll go back.

If a waitress hands you a cute little LED flashlight and asks you to try it, politely decline. I didn't and when I turned it on it gave me a strong electrical shock. Which was quite amusing to the rest of the customers...

Um, cause it's the only place that has perverts at playgrounds?

Acknowledged. OTOH, many of us spent a lifetime in TWI listening to teachings that sounded way too much like Greg's post. Greg is free to post as he wishs. He should be aware that many of us don't come here to hear teachings.
-
Greg, Perhaps you've mistaken GS for a Christian Bible fellowship forum. That's not quite what it is. GS is a forum for ex-TWI members to compare notes, heal, find old friends and get over our TWI experience.

Then I don't want to be there. I work with all kinds of people. Some of them can and will do evil to me. I have to be aware of their potential to hurt me and those I love if I'm to live a happy and safe life.

I'd be more concerned that people in Kaiser's purchasing department might be getting kickbacks. The doctors tend to be people that just want to practice medicine with the least hassle.
-
I agree with Vickles. Their forgiveness is not an issue one way or another with me. Let God sort it out.

Ok, I'll bite. I belong to an HMO, Kaiser Permanente to be specific. I've belonged to them on and and off for probably 25 years. One of the reasons I like them is that my doctor doesn't make another $20,000 if he operates on me. He gets the same salary if whether he does or doesn't. That's good. I doubt that there's any drug kickbacks going on as it's cheaper to get generic drugs through Kaiser than name-brand. I have a good friend that lost his wife to a brain tumor. He have the funds and willingness to get her the best care available. After shunting her across the country several times to different clinics and doctors, he found the local hospital was just as competent and a lot less greedy.

I don't think so. Joe always seemed to be very much in love with his wife. He is one of the great enigmas of TWI. Despite being somewhat hard to work for, I always had a lot of respect for Joe. He always gave 110% of himself and seemed to try to live a Christian life. I guess he's been at TWI so long he can't imagine any other way.

Muhammad himself had something like a near-death experience at an early age. From the book Muhammad, the Messenger of God, p9... ""Halima and her husband ran to Muhammad and found him standing up, his face livid. They held him close and got out of him what was the matter. He said, "Two men in white rainment came and threw me down and opened up my belly and searched inside for I don't know what." The foster father said, "The child has had a stroke."
