Call me a geek, but for me, the most impressive sight around Los Vegas was Hoover Dam. It's only a few minutes away and there is a great tour. Also, I think at least one GS member and her family lives in Los Vegas.

I think we need a discussion on the health benefits of single malt vs Southern Comfort vs Jack Daniel's

Dot, Call all your city counsel people and urge them to create a grafitti task force. My city has one and grafitti lasts about 8 hours at the most. The people responsible get the message and don't waste their time tagging our city.

Fish and fish oil Beets (my wife's miracle cure) low salt low sugar no corn syrup moderate alcohol exercise bike and walking I dropped my BP from 160/95 to 120/77 and lost 16 lbs in the last 6 months. This stuff works. I also stopped eating pork. If it's bad enough for Jews and Muslims, it's bad enough for me.

Yeah, definitely a sore point. Especially considering what I saw on staff. My wife and I have our own business. Guess who stays until 2 AM balancing the books, rebuilding the servers and cleaning the toilet... I can't recall seeing any cabinet-level TWI employees doing those sorts of tasks. With a couple of impressive exceptions, most of TWI leadership was either incapable or unwilling to do the menial or technical work that they supervised.

Yawn. So what? In my opinion, athletics is pretty much a worthless endeavor in any case. Sure, it teaches commitment and excellence to youth, but there are other ways. And for individuals like myself, the inability to succeed in athletics creates lifelong resentment and feelings of incompetence. Better to praise the people that feed us, give us knowledge and ease our physical and mental burdens.

BTW, if you can't find anything good on OJ, my daughter and I did the trial of Clarence Earl Gideon. He was an itinerate man who wrote his own Supreme Court appeal ultimately leading to the decision providing legal counsel to those who could not afford it. Not only is there a book, Gideon's Trumpet, there is also a good movie of the same name staring Henry Fonda as Gideon. I recommend the book and movie even if you decide not to do a report on it.

The last I heard, he was going to use Thomas Jefferson's copy of the Quran. Which I find deliciously ironic.

Cool, If you'd like to PM me with some more details, I might be able to give you a little more constructive advice or point you to someone who can. Rest assured I'd keep your information secret and not use it. I have plenty to work on as it is.

Ok, I know something about this, having started my own business, having some patents with my name on them and having a couple of great ideas in progress. Unless you get exceedingly lucky, ideas themselves aren't worth anything. If they were, I'd be very comfortably retired now. At the very best, you *might* get a company to hire you if you gave them your idea and offered to develop it for them. An idea and a prototype and a business plan *might* land you an investor to start a company to produce and market your product. The investor would expect to own at least a majority share of the company and would expect you to work for peanuts until the product became profitable. An idea turned into a profitable ongoing business is worth money. Maybe 2x yearly gross sales.

I vote "right thing" and gutsy at that. A working dog will gladly spend the whole day and night out in the rain with you if you ask it to, but to stake out a dog all by himself in the rain and mud is just cruel.

I seem to recall a sort of backhanded comment that Martin Luther might not have believed in the Trinity, but that he went as far as he could given the times. I've read a little of Luther's writings and haven't found anything to back up VPW's comment.

What Belle said and she's a good example. Belle and I share a passion for Border Terriers. Cute little brown dogs. We know each other's real identies and we trust each other. Besides Belle, I know the real identities of at least a half dozen GS posters. TWI has shown an almost unlimited drive to destroy peoples' lives when it suits them. Is it any surprise that people here desire to remain anonymous? Stick around, leave and pick up little hints as to your's and other's identities, use PM when appropriate and you'll find some old friends.

CES is in a Mess...

I advise the moderator to remove or at least review the 2 documents posted in this thread. I'm not at all comfortable with the graphic and personal details presented, apparently without the permission of all the people involved. -
I hear what you're saying, Wolf, but I've just not found the need for either a third-party firewall or anti-virus stuff. I maintain over a dozen XP machines. Most of the users have admin privileges on their machines and have been properly trained not to install untrusted software or to open email attachments other than .pdf's and images. I have had no virus or security issues for about 3 years. ZoneAlarm and AVG are good, but not everyone needs them. Assuming you already have an external NAT router/firewall with stateful packet inspection, I think that trained users can get by fine with regular updates and the Microsoft tools.

Thankfully, not for most of *us*. Been there, done that. -
I don't think you're in big trouble. The pagefile is normally locks out other applications. A couple of things you can do if the above doesn't help.. 1. Click Start > Help and Support > Pick a task > Undo changes to your computer with system restore > Restore my computer to an earlier time. Find a date prior to the muckup and restore from there. 2. Click Start > Run > enter msconfig and run it. Click the Startup tab and unclick everything named Macaffee, Press apply and reboot. Click through the nag message about changes and tell it not to notify you again. After you get your machine running use Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs to get rid of Macaffee. Get into the habit of using System Restore to set a restore point every time you install a software package. BTW, I hate all the Macaffee/Norton/Symantic products. If you need a firewall, update Windows and use the Windows firewall. Works fine for me and is easy to turn on and off. If you need a virus checker, first of all run Windows Update regularly and secondly, download Windows Defender and use it. Just my 2 bits.

I can remember my mom buying me the original Chipmunks 45 single. That would have been in 1958 and I would have been 6. Time flys....
