It's also interesting to look at the secular influence that TWI used to grow. Amway, the MLM craze, the Fuller Brush Man and motivational speaking all played into the way that VPW structured and controlled the cult. Looking back, the twig, branch and limb meetings looked and ran more like an Amway organization than a religion. VPW seemed to have something of an obsession with successful businesspeople and companies. He looked at them as examples and he treated other grassroots Christian organizations as competiitors.

What a bizzare set of double and conflicting standards. One of the 70's California limb leaders said he regularly purchased Playboy for the articles. And for that matter, a 70's Playboy would be classed as erotica rather than porn. There is a difference.

Utter and complete bullshlt to establish the teacher as an authority figure. Also a subtle attempt to depreciate the art and science of pure research. I don't know why my brain wasn't screeming BS everytime I heard it in PFAL.A smart dog can go way beyond what it's taught. I rest my case. At the present time, and even then it's somewhat debateable.

Found this on rec.crafts.metalworking.... A brand new store has just opened in New York City that sells husbands. When women go to choose a husband, they have to follow the instructions at the entrance: "You may visit this store ONLY ONCE! There are six floors and the value of the products increase as you ascend the flights. You may choose any item from a particular floor, or may choose to go up to the next floor, but you CANNOT go back down except to exit the building!" So, a woman goes to the Husband Store to find a husband. On the 1st floor the sign on the door reads: Floor 1 - These men have jobs. She goes up a floor. The 2nd floor sign reads: Floor 2 - These men have jobs and love kids. She pushes the UP button again. The 3rd floor sign reads: Floor 3 - These men have jobs, love kids and are extremely good looking. "Wow," she thinks, but feels compelled to keep going. She goes to the 4th floor and the sign reads: Floor 4 - These men have jobs, love kids, are drop-dead good looking and help with housework. "Oh, mercy me!" she exclaims, "I can hardly stand it!" Still, she goes to the 5th floor and sign reads: Floor 5 - These men have jobs, love kids, are drop-dead gorgeous, help with housework and have a strong romantic streak. She is so tempted to stay, but she goes to the 6th floor and the sign reads: Floor 6 - You are visitor 31,456,012 to this floor. There are no men on this floor. This floor exists solely as proof that women are impossible to please. Thank you for shopping at the Husband Store. To avoid gender bias charges, the store's owner opens a New Wives store just across the street. The 1st first floor has wives that love sex. The 2nd floor has wives that love sex and have money. The 3rd through 6th floors have never been visited. -----------------------------------------------

My wife took a class and has a bunch of DVD's. She practices several times a week and really enjoys it. I could get you the names of the DVD's if you like.

I think we can all identify with what you're saying. I've found that the only thing that works for me is to be sure of my personal beliefs, of which there are few, and not to trust in any religion. It gets a bit lonely at times, but at least I know I'm being honest with myself and not setting myself up to be cheated. Yeah, I sure do miss the good times. But I miss lots of things I'll never see again. You just got to move on.

<derail> Congradulations on the new bike. I had an old Honda Silverwing for 2 years and 15,000 miles so I went through what you're going through. You are right, you can lean to steer. A better way is to use what's called countersteering. It works best at speeds above 15-20 mph. What you do is gently press the handlebars in the *opposite* direction you want to turn. The pressure will cause the bike to lean into the turn. When you've established the lean angle for the turn, you ease off the pressure. You come out of the turn the same way, apply pressure in the other direction and release it when the bike has come out of the lean. Once you master countersteering, you'll find that you can turn much quicker and much more precisely than by leaning. It also makes carrying a passenger much easier because you don't have to "recalibrate" your technique for the additional weight the way you would if you were leaning. I also strongly suggest a motorcycle safety class and the Keith Code riding books. </derail>

Raw salmon carries a microorganism that can make a dog very sick. The vet says that cooked salmon is good for dogs, but I haven't had much leftover to feed a dog. Spider bites are bad news. My dog came inside after playing in the woodpile and his face was so swollen I couldn't see his eyes. We called the vet and he said to bring him in right away. We did, the vet gave him 3 shots and we watched the swelling go down visibly over the next 5-10 minutes. Pretty amazing. In addition to rodent bait, dogs can sometimes eat dead rodents that were killed with rodent bait. A good friend lost his dog that way. I don't know about the salt. I had a vet years ago that recommended a particular dogfood because it had salt in it. He said it would make the dog drink more water which would be good for her kidneys. The grapes/raisins thing is interesting. I often fed my dog a few grapes as he really liked them and they didn't bother him. OTOH, I know all too well that an unsupervised dog can eat (and OD on) a huge amount of whatever he finds tasty.

I remember getting in trouble as a boy for referring to my uncle's Oldsmobile Cutless as an Oldsmobile Gutless...

Sneer at California all you want, but it's a dry and balmy 65 degrees in the Sacramento Valley today. And the air is clear enough to see the snow in the Sierra's. I'd get some ice cream if I weren't on a diet.

Taking it one step further, this would be a nearly perfect case for jury nullification, a legal principle that alllows a jury to acquit defendents even though they are guilty by the letter of the law.
-
Abigail, Juvenile cases are almost always decided by a judge rather than a jury. Which sometimes makes a common sense decision impossible.

The short version: Two teens, male, 17, female, 16, have sex. That's not illegal in the state of Florida where it happened. But then they decided to snap some pictures of the dirty deed and email them from one's house to the other. Somehow the cops ended up with the pictures and now the kids have been convicted of producing and distributing child pornography. Should we put warnings on the condoms we hand out in high school? http://news.com.com/Police+blotter+Teens+p...tml?tag=newsmap

We've heard about the heat, rain, bugs, humidity, mud, etc. What did you like the most? I remember being just amazed at the musical talent from some of the "family table" musicians at the early ROA's. I've never been all that moved by elaborate stage productions. OTOH, I really admire the guts and ability of a single or small group of musicians to just get up and perform.

Ok Ham, what about these... Housekeeping, verb - Retaining your TWI-funished residence even though your spouse was booted out. Ermaled, verb - Having a husband's position in TWI weaked by a more dynamic wife, As in "Howard would have been Ermaled if Imogene wasn't such a bully"
-
Abundance - Time and money given to TWI beyond the bare minimum you keep to survive. Stewardship - The preservation of abundance for the upper leadership of TWI. The Way Tree - The pathway for stewardship to channel abundance down to the upper leadership. Schoenheit, verb - To remove and blacklist a high level leader, as in "they finally Schoenheited Geer" Betamax, verb - To make a bad technology decision with miminal repercussions, as in "Bo Reahard nearly Betamaxed the IT department with his choice of IBM mid-level computers.

If you're talking about Sony Vegas, don't waste your time and money. The copy I bought, and I admit, it was a long time ago would lock up frequently and loose my work and the DVD authoring stuff wouldn't work right. BTW, I'm through with Sony forever. Too many problems and nothing to justify the name branding. Not to mention the audio CD's with built-in rootkits.

A Piper Aztec isn't a jet. It's a very noisy piston twin. I know I probably wouldn't be able to rise to the occasion.
