  1. Right after we left TWI in '86 we talked with a girl who had been groped by veepee when she was in rez in the 70's. We heard of other accounts and suddenly all of those incidents that never sat well with me rushed to the forefront. Like the in rez pajama party where he showed porn flicks, (and I mean the ones with a woman and a horse) to us in the corps with the junior corps present. There were other incidents throughout the years which should have been huge red flags, but when you don't connect the dots because you think you are part of the single most important spiritual movement of our time, you become blind to reality. Shoot, I can't believe how duped I was.
  2. Yep, it was "Dirty Water". I had the biggest crush on Dickie Dodd. I saw them at a festival with The McCoys maaaaany years ago. What a great picture!
  3. Me neither 'till I logged in, Tuttle. Wait, you had to be logged in to reply... Beats me.
  4. Vickles, sorry about the initials. I figured if I put the real names in they'll just get moderated out. John and Maryann Hen*****s were the corps coordinators while I was there. John-u-iz, I haven't seen the Hendricks' since I left in '86, and that's fine with me.
  5. Oh, we missed the reign of B & D M******n. J & M.A. H*****x were the corps coordinators during our time. I'm not saying anything good, I'm not saying anything bad...I'm just glad I haven't seen them since.
  6. Gee it sucked while we were there, but I don't remember hearing of any abuse from G.B. I just thought he was a goof-ball. Son-o'-mine was 4 and 5 at the time and doesn't have horror stories, thankfully. There was a really nice wc staff woman, Linda something who worked in children's activities whom I wish I could thank for watching out for our son. I am thankful for dodging the bullets from the creeps, but I feel so sorry for those who didn't. What an evil mess we survived.

    ILLINOIS

Hap, All I remember is that she went into the 7th corps and married another corps guy after graduation. The last time I saw her was around 1980, I think. tonto
  8. Immortal Beloved, 1994, with Gary Oldman & Isabella Rossilini. Hubs says Logan's Run is a good parallel for leaving the Way.
  9. Ex, wouldn't that be baby spice?

Hey Hap, Was Dawn Clarey in Peoria when you were there? tonto
  11. We were in rez when POP was read. We figured they would get their stuff together and we would hear all about it at corps week. When that didn't happen and they just went on with ROA like nothing happened we were sick to our stomachs and stunned, but not ready to give up yet. After we heard about the insanity that went on at the November clergy meeting we decided to leave. We didn't tell "our peeps" until three days after Christmas '86 (like we were divorcing parents not wanting to spoil Christmas for the kids). We were serious then but now it seems really funny to me. It was so scary to leave friends and that comfortable insanity behind, and the rebuilding process of our lives has not been easy, but MY GOD, it's been worth it.
  12. ((((((Rev 2t's))))), (((((Nika))))), and all who have suffered loss, you're in my prayers. Now I'll sing to you. (Sung with brogue) Cheer up ye saints of God, There's nothing to worry about (beep beep) There's nothing to make you feel afraid, Nothing to make you doubt. Remember God is always near So why not si-ing and shout? There'll be nothing to worry about Tomorrow morning!!!
  13. Thanks again excie, and thanks to all you 9th corks for providing a nice diversion during a rough time. You guys are a riot. Hey, the next round is on me. What are we drinking?
  14. Sure Excie, thanks for the prayers. Simonz, maybe I need to talk to you, but do I want to? You know, needs and wants parallel and all that shee-ite.
  15. Steve!, I checked with the main man, and he doesn't remember a Larry Reed either. Maybe he was F12 or 13? And Hape4me, I think I know who you are. I looked on another thread and believe your wife and I took piffle at a camp in the Rockies together with a gazillion other folks in '74.
  16. I just remembered the Larry I was thinking of was Larry Harwell and wife Moneen. I don't remember Larry Reed, but I'll ask hubs if he remembers him.
  17. Yep, I was F11. Larry Reed...I'm having trouble remembering him. There was a Larry somebody married to Monique(?) who were from Texas. Is that him?
  18. Tom and Laurie were "elder corps" when we were at the Indiana campus, so that would have meant that they were F10. I don't remember where they were sent on their "practicum" year, which would have started in the Fall of 1985. At the time they had one young daughter.

    Paw's Birthday

Paw, remember this one? Happy, happy birthday, from all of us to you Happy, happy birthday, may all your prayers come true May you have happy birthdays all your whole life through Happy, happy birthday, it's God in Christ in you!
  20. You guys are awfully quiet. Did Father tell you to "shut up"?
  21. Allright, is it just me or does anyone else see an odd clam-shaped cloud with a little white mushroom-phallic-type formation in front of it? I'm serious. Look at it.
  22. JT, hahahahahaha :D--> In 13 years maybe 20. Way too many, that's for sure.
  23. WG, check your private topics.
  24. This train was headed for Houston but has been diverted to Ft. Worth. Oh geez, I just remembered witnessing to a friend and a cousin and we went to what was supposed to be a fellowship in Arlington and some guy did this big hard sell on the colon cleanse! He had charts with disgusting pictures of distended and misshapen colons. I was so embarrassed at the time, but it was enough to keep my cousin from going to any other way events, so it was a blessing in disguise.
  25. WG, I think I remember a wow family in a crappy Hulen apartment. Two guys and two girls in the family? I can't remember names but I might recognize them if I heard them. A childhood friend of mine took piffle in that apartment. I remember Susan Bouldin being the leader of the whole crew, now that you mention it. Wasn't there a family who pretty much left except for one person? I remember a girl named Linda being in a family in a crappy apartment on Maplewood in northeast Ft. Worth. Ouch...my brain hurts from trying to remember.
