Galen and Tom Strange: you change the tp rolls??? I salute you! OWWW, Jim! Poor thing -- I'm still laughing. Now, how about the guy problem of raising those toilet seats with the fuzzy seat covers, where the seat s-l-o-w-l-y begins to fall, then comes down like a guillotine toward any unsuspecting "member?" :D--> Shaz

Oldies, I love your smiley. It reminds me of someone's definition of giving to God: "Just throw the money into the air, and whatever He catches, He can keep!" :D--> Shaz

Trouble is, when you flush, lots of nasty toilet germs are kicked up into the air. If that grosses you out, close the lid. Or at least don't hang your toothbrushes close to the commode.... :D--> Shaz PS kris: yeah, I do that in public restrooms and daycares.

'Course, it was the news item that there would be nude beekeeping demonstrations that reeled them in.... Congratulations on a successful conference, hj! Regards, Shaz

No-no, Chas, Dove eggs! Rarer, but worth finding. Thanks for the Peeps, socks! Happy Easter, Shaz

The J*rn*g*ns' book has come up third on the list of books on Lyme disease at Amazon.com, so I have written a review there. It should come up in the next day or so. I like what they have to say about nutritional support to help the body heal itself, but the book is a big commercial for their own brand of products, and their own brand of Christianity. If they wish to debate that, they are free to email me or post here. I just hate to see sick people sucked into a treatment, or a cult, out of desparation to get well. Regards, Shaz

Dear 3Cents and Geo, But I think we often got a dose of that when we were being "ministered to" for healing. How many Advanced Class grads just went to vague references about the circulatory system or the intestines, in an effort to hit on something? I recall one Rock where I stood up to be ministered to, because my marriage was going to heck in a handbasket, and I was upset. The believer prayed for my hip. My HIP! Why? Because I was standing with my weight over my other leg! And I was thinking, "Well, maybe God is healing something I don't even know is wrong with me yet." !!! Regards, Shaz

41% Yankee. I think because I am partly influenced by my mother, who spent a few years in the South and in Texas. Else it woulda been Yankee all the way! I'm always curious about language. That was fun. Regards, Shaz

I think the queen is doing her darndest to outlive her son, so the succession would go to Prince William. And perhaps there has already been an agreement behind closed doors: "Charles, you can have your Camilla, but you can't have the throne. When the time comes, you will abdicate to Wills." Sorry, Charlie. Shaz

Oldies, I was committed to God long before I went into the Corps. I signed up for Recognized Family Corps because I wanted the in-depth knowledge that the Corps was supposedly being taught, before my husband and I were to join Staff. We were accepted into the Corps on that basis. I still have a Recognized Corps certificate to prove it. Long after our in-res year, a couple of Corps leaders tried to explain to me that I had made a lifetime commitment to the Corps program -- to submit to evaluations, and go to any Corps meetings that were required. Silly me for requiring them to honor their agreement with me. I am just as committed to doing good and respecting God as I ever was, I just don't express it in the same way that I did while in TWI. Ya wanna sponsor me? :D--> Shaz

If EWD were straight, I still would have no interest in what he does in his bedroom! :D--> Shaz

Okay, Geo. And I'll keep the mezuzah on the front door, just so's I cover all the bases, just in case. HCW and Al, no way am I judging JAL over getting a divorce. I'm divorced twice, and I'd sure like to be thought of as credible when I say something pithy (which happens every few months or so). I'm just saying that the time I DID talk to him via email sounded just like his postings here, like commercials for his product. And the interest in me definitely waned when I wasn't buying. Regards, Shaz

Aw, George, not feng shui! Say it isn't so! Okay, I'll put the furniture back the way it was. ***sigh*** ;)--> Shaz Note to HCW: I'm not wearing your boot.

Divorce and Submission:Way Cult Mentality
shazdancer replied to fortunateone's topic in About The Way
You're tellin' my story, TheHighWay! And I would add, that when you pour support on an abusive person, it is like pouring kerosene on a match. The abuser can't wait to take advantage of your "weakness." Regards, Shaz -
If ExWayDaryl were straight, he'd still be smart, funny, and well-spoken, so I'd like him just the same. :)--> Shaz

1.) Be aware of everything you put into your body, and it's potential for harm, especially in large doses. 2.) Listen to your body, how it reacts to what you're giving it. If we are educated consumers of OTC herbals and supplements, there will be little need for the government to control such substances. Shaz

It seems to me that what they are saying about Biblical research is not that they should come to the scriptures with a concordance, interlinear, and a knowledge of figures of speech, orientalisms, etc., but rather that they should come with a knowledge of what TWI has said any verse means, then line up all their "re-search" with that. In other words, just look up the same verses as the Way mag article, but if you find any other verses on the subject, make sure you mold them into what TWI told you it should mean. If it doesn't fit with TWI (not with the easy verses, context, used before, etc.), then the error is in your understanding, or the verse was not in the original. That blows any sort of true textual criticism right out of the water. TWI has no true "research" left. And Mike is closer to what TWI is doing now than I thought. Shaz

Ah, but Bubba sitting in a truck stop is not competing for anything. For it to be a sport, competition should be involved. And I never said that only athletes compete in sports -- in my definition of sport, that is. Is curling a sport? The Olympic Committee says it is. Your serve, Shaz

Why not, suz? it worked for VP...;)--> Shaz

Oh, it gets worse, Z.... The tournament Scrabble players consider what they do a "sport." (I don't.) One national champion even tried to argue that there was physical exertion in playing, what with adrenaline rushing and armpits sweating and all. Oy! Of course, in Russia they loudly proclaim that chess is a "sport." I would consider both of these contests, but not sports. I would define "sport" as having physical dexterity, not necessarily physical fitness. So then darts would be a sport, NASCAR racing would be a sport, etc. For example, in the sport of gymnastics, the winner is not necessarily the most physically strong or aerobically fit, but the most physically adept on that day. Most gymnasts who want to be on top of the podium know that they need to be in good condition, and they work long hours at it, but plenty of times the winner has not been the strongest, but the one who just put it all together that day. Regards, Shaz

Yeah, satori, I distinctly heard the sound of dust falling, shaken off of sandals.... Dear Al Poole, The last time JAL posted, I did take him up on his offer to email him privately. Even privately, his emails came off as invitations to join CES. When I said I was not interested, I got a quick "God bless," and the correpondence was over. Yes, it's much easier to preach to the choir, than to get down and be "real" with the rest of us. Regards, Shaz

Dear John, Very sorry to hear that your marriage did not work out. Even when divorce is absolutely the right thing to do, it is never a happy time. I was confused by this statement you made... I am not sure how not being paid by this organization helps you achieve this goal.I am also saddened that you are so quick to put us down. Just because we are not a part of CES does not mean we are "sitting on the sidelines." And I daresay we have been able to help a few people with our posts. We each have our own gifts. It is when we think that our lifestyle is the only way that arrogance sets in. May we both stay free of it. Regards, Shaz

Hey, you guys, cut it out! Some of my best friends are... ...choreographers. :D--> Shaz

Dear Abigail, I took SAM-E for about 6 months. It worked well for me, with the added benefit of easing joint pain, which I have due to Lyme. The effect seemed to be similar to what is reported with prescription antidepressants: it takes the underlying "down" feeling away, leaving you with the whole range of normal emotions, and making it easier to recover from everyday slights and tensions. Cost: about $1 a pill. I went off it when I thought I might be relapsing from Lyme. I was. I also have taken St. John's wort, in a tea form. Worked for tension/anxiety, not depression. I guess there are now side effects reported, so I would not take it regularly. HTH, Shaz
