Everyday around here there is some little leak from some small paper in Minnesota about something 'getting close'. To me it feels like the Twins are playing it in a way to get the Yankees to up the ante. Enough is enough, supposedly the Red Sox have had 4 good players on the table for close to a month, I'd take them all off and make the Twins start from scratch. The Red Sox already have 6 good starters that are all capable of 200+ quality innings each so its not a do or die situation. If need be wait ayear, until Schilling retires, Next years crop of pitchers is bound to be better than this years

LINK to story. I havent heard anything ( Im way out of any loop anyway) but outside of normal accounting and auditting of nonprofits i personally doubt that they will. They are a very small fish in a big pond and have stayed, probably by design, pretty much under the radar For all their abuses there is no one that I know of living in multimillion dollar houses, driving Rolls Royces or flying around in their private jets (..just like Jesus was! <_< ) showing it off and collecting more and more on national TV everyday like some of the bigger groups do.

Deees one? Its a little early in the day for me for this type of stuff but I came across this footage of Duane Allman and the Bros. at Fillmore East in 1970 which I have never seen before that I am watching right now. In Memory of Elizabeth Reed

We paid our dues As far as people hating us I think it is sort of humorous. My friend from Chicago (a woman, but an actual sports fan) who now lives in NYC despises the Pats with a Yankee like vigor. Why? Because they're dominant and.. and ...they're the Yankees!!!!. She says "even the sports columnists are calling the Patriots the Yankees!" (/shrugs) Maybe sports columnists who start these things fads should actually read sports outcomes once in awhile (The Yankees although rich havent won the big one in 7 years). nor is the history similar. Maybe there are alot of haters but I dont really care, they are all on their convenient bandwagon of the hour, I dont recall anyone hating them when they were suffering through 40+years of 2-14 seasons

Well thanks for that-There was actually a glitch that would have had this game blacked out in part of New England. Fantastic that it got taken care of----there may have been riots up here if it wasnt... As a born and bred Massachusetts guy, I almost have to pinch myself to realize hat these years are actually happening and not a dream. For decades I watched heartbreaking loss after heartbreaking loss in every sport and even in good years was waiting for the darkness and inevitable disappointment and pain to descend like it usually did.. How things can change!! Its nice not only to win but to feel totally comfortable, confidant and unanxious (no more of those body curdling and mind bending knots to go through) when entering a game for once ... .. The last shall be first, the first shall be last At last, I see we're first, at last! Good Times

Scoop? The Red Sox announced it right after the World Series Parade --Feb 14th --and since it has been pretty much the next day that is worth waking up on some people keep tabs on it. This Blog keeps a rundown clock on the right hand column Here is where it stands as of now: Pitchers and catchers report: 48 days 21h 21m 15s We'll see then if Santa, ..i mean Santana ..is coming to town

i didnt make anything special but I am enjoying the (slightly) longer days, the 'rebirth of the sun', and the 'coming of the light' "Darkness" is necessary, but no place, at least for me, to live. I dont like it. I much prefer the 'climbing out'period than the 'going in'. It is much more hopeful. I definitely understand why our ancestors had cause for celebration. Happy post solstice to everyone Next stop spring

I just found out that jazz piano virtuoso Oscar Peterson shuffled off his mortal coil the other day at age 82. For those of you not familar with him, He could be aggressive, fast as lightning and fierce as a volcano exploding yet could turn on a dime and be as gentle as a snow flake falling Duke Ellington called him the Maharaja You Look Good To Me Caravan: 1985 Goodbye 1961

My sentiments exactly I listened to this entire Messiah yesterday and was blown away. An absolutely amazing piece of music If someone wants to produce one better than that one I heard , then maybe they can talk-(but it still wont interest me)

Yea you might say we are having a good year---- something I never ever thought I would live to see and believe me I am enjoying it --every second of it----This year was a long long long long long long time coming. Good to see you make an appearance merry merry and all that, pop in more often. I got Sox tix today for four games which is pretty near as much of a miracle as a virgin giving birth

Who are you to plant that on yourself? How do you know that for sure? The way I look at it, granted I cant do some of the things that I did when I was younger (would I really [want/i] to anyway?)but I can do alot of different things now that I couldnt come close to grasping then, when the circle narrows in one place it seems to widen in another. I just have to figure it out. Its like a perpetual crossroads, It helps to move forward and not look back . Wilson could be fine I have to shut up or i'll start dispensing some of that dreaded advice. I'm alone most of the time and I LIKE it... , My Dad got happily married to his childhood sweetheart at 83. At 52 I feel as if Im barely getting warmed up. Who knows if the best is yet to come? Im not closing any of those doors just yet, there is much too far to go before this ride is over

...Satchel Paige...is another I suppose there are some people who defy the laws of nature every once in awhile. Im sort of weary of the whole thing right now . Im not a big Christmas fan and I have to deal with that--it has me distracted-- ....it will all play out with or without me. It does look like fire to me as well Merry Christmas Hiway, Tom, Rock, Excie, baseball fans, Simon somehwere, and whoever else might be lurking have a good one

maybe-but guys dont just get better in their forties, at least not for the first 150 years of baseball they havent been. I dont see it, Nor go from being medicire for four years to tearing up the league either. Looking retrospectively at the arc of his career it is freakishly abnormal Of course it wouldnt be the first time that I would be wrong about something, but at least to me it doesnt look good for Roger. Is he banking on it turning into an unprovable he said --he said? I dont know, I really dont I even asked the only real authority in such matters The Magic Eight Ball, "Has Roger Clemens done steroids?" This is what I got:

Regardless of whether they cross their T's and dot their i's according to your acceptable formula, Trinity Wall Street has and continues to be one of the most historic and important churches in the country's history. It was where George Washington was inaugurated and being in the shadow of the World Trade Center, the center of ministry during the aftermath of 9/11. Say what you will--they have a rich 200+ year history that is not easily matched by many churches in this country for its overall impact and contributions to our society....and the musics not bad either

I might have this alittle wrong ( I dont feel like going back and reading all the details of The Report right at the moment) but I just dont see what McNamee could have possibly gained by lying. He was in a situation if, he lied, he would be held accountable for it. When you are getting the screws put to you by federal prosecutors threatening charges, and a caveat to your immunity is truthful testimony, then why in the world would you lie? He had plenty of other dirt. It doesn't add up. If you can give me some reason for a vendetta he would have for Rajah, which is about the only thing that would make sense in that scenario, and it was for something that a person would reasonably risk their freedom for, then there might be something. Still, regardless of what i think about McNamee, it all seems like a huge risk (as in jailtime risky)on his part not to be truthful

I never heard of that pedophile thing. but that song always was weird to me anyway. Santa always sounded more like a Parole Officer ready to lock you up (.he knows if youve been bad or good so be good for goodness sake..) than some Jolly Old Man. He's also making a list of things Ive done throughout the year? What? Im on a List? A freakin list? What do we have some old weird stalker here? Get me away from this guy

I dont get it either. Carlos Silva signed a 4 year 44 million dollar deal with the Mariners as well. (????) That is quite a payday for a guy who averages 69 strikeouts and 20 home runs allowed per season. The Mariners are attempting to build the most expensive rotation with a limited upside ever. I don't understand the big dollars at second and third tier players. Lord the pitching market must be extra thin this year

Yes indeed we are! High School is coming already? Holy Camolie-- What position is he playing now? O and from the nothing is sacred department: Naming Rights to Wrigley Field are for sale Please No

I concur! I saw them early on in '72 or 3 at the Performance Center in Harvard Square. They were great and a very nice surprise. I was supposed to go to some other show that night and walked into a bar with about 20 people in it with some band from somewhere in New Jersey. It was Bruce Springsomething or other that i had never heard of, He looked pretty good but the girlfriend and I elected to walk across the street and saw Orleans. I dont know whatever happened to that Bruce guy- but Orleans was great!

Thats all I want out of the deal as well.... I'll let the Bolshevik thing go, Id drop it but you asked..many of his post were simple things like "LETS GO RED SOX!!!" in big red letters, which was fine with me, it could have been any team, but he too was "a fellow baseball lover" . I could read enough to know that there was alot of feeling in there... His post seemed to annoy you more than once --eventually he quit posting here. Thats it--I'll drop it I felt bad for him he seemed look a good kid just out of The Way who found some real joy in the game. I liked his enthusiasm--maybe he'll come back--maybe it had nothing to do with it at all. Thats all. ..no more

Yea it is, I dont give it much thought at all. I dont try to push buttons, if buttons get pushed its totally by accident and not intentional In all honesty most of the things that I post that seem to ruffle your feathers actually come from Yankee sites, Yankee fans ( a Yankee friend from the Bronx sent me that adultswim cartoon -- which I and apparently at least one yankee fan thought was funny)or the New York papers which I read semi regularly. They are much harsher on the Yanks than I generally am around here and they are from within the fold of Yankeedom I tone it down quite a bit in this forum and watch my P and Q's more than at the other sights where I post, or at least I try to most of the time in order to be civil within what has become the acceptable framework and boundaries of this thread. That, and I also get tired of getting my knuckles rapped and my viewpoint 'corrected'. I really dont get that at all......or the harsh coming down on Bolshevik eaerlier in the year when he wanted to participate here but was put down over and over. I really just dont get it.... but so be it.... In other news (can we get off that for a second?) I was working in a church in New Jersey a few days ago -I was busting my azz moving statues around when I saw this guy who looked like Casey Blake of the Indians with Christ :o WHOA-I wasnt expecting to see that.. I always suspected that was baseball was biblical
