I dont know.. 12 'students' X 4 hours a day of work X 7 days a week = 336 manhours/week of free work (Thats over 13,000 hours of work during their year) in exchange for 4 hours a day of 'teaching X 7 days =28 hours of teaching Id trade 4 hours of BS'ing "teaching" for 48 hours of free labor per day on my farm any day of the week if I could get away with it. Farms can be an overwhelming amount of work. I dont know who exactly he is 'trying to help' or how in his 'committed christian' lifestyle but HE certainly is going to be doing a lot better at the end of every day. Nice work if you can get it. What do the 'students' get at the end of the year? an 8 1/2" X 11" 'diploma' that qualifies them to tithe back to the farm and bring in more people? Yea ---nice work if you can get it..

Id invite you Rock, I have nice loge boxes on the 1st base side BUT those ones were purchased by a friend I was coaching over the phone -- so I sort of feel obligated to go with her ---especailly since she did that actual purchase... :) Sox tickets are like gold around here ....Im getting a little worried, in the ultra fine print on the website it says you can buy a maximum of 8 tickets--of course I didnt read all that--someone on another site i go to pointed that out to me--I figured if there was a limit that the automated system would automatically shut me off but it didnt and I bought a helluva lot more than 8. Someone else is now telling me that I may not get any and be penalized for exceeding the limits... joy turns to concern Im gonna be happy when I have these tickets in hand This hoop jumping is a pain--whatever happened to the days of calmly walking to the park on gameday? long gone around these parts

You havent seen my credit card bill from yesterday yet! It could be close!! Its alright though--It is a good addiction I have the Tigers, Angels, BlueJays(twice), Rays,Brewers,Rays again, DBacks,Twins, Angels, A's, BlueJays, 3 in Baltimore, White Sox, O's, Rays, BlueJays and Cleveland twice- -No Yankee tickets were released, Cards tickets sold out too quick. I know what you mean--the more I bought the more I wanted to buy (..gees I have two weeks between games in June--can i fill that up with something?.. ) I havent gone to this many games since the mid sixties. Its a great feeling knowing I will be there . You know I love Fenway the way you love Dodger Stadium. Like any good addiction I already want more and was talking over some possible road trips with a friend this morning at breakfast( Cleveland? Toronto? Cincinnati?...how about a whole road trip? ) the logistics could be crazy (its 2 1/2 hours one way to fenway ) but I dont care, I'll figure out something I also dont know when Im going to get any work done this summer O well :)

In the event of the 600 foot blast to right, The Dodgers need to rotate the centerfielder into the slot and execute the always popular 9-8-4-5 relay, or maybe even the 9-8-7-4-5 Given Papi's blinding speed they'll have a very good chance at nailing him at third Ater 11+ hours I got tix to 17 well spread out games yesterday plus three in Baltimore. Im a happy camper today :)

I found this picture which cracked me up.. RF is as big as Montana. There looks to be about a 250 feet or so behind the Centerfielder That must have been an interesting game being played there back then YES!!!! While I was posting I got into the ticket area and got tickets--It only took 11 hours!

I think they should have Wally Moon throw out the first pitch. Im really looking forward to the configuration of the field--if it is the old way or not......If you got a digital takes some photos if'n you can.... Im STILL in these $#%@^& waiting rooms (20 of them now) Its been almost 8 friggin hours. There has got to be some better way to d this.... Out of boredom while Ive been waiting I went to the Orioles site and bought tickets for a three game series in August--which was easy-so at least I will be packin off to see Camden Yards this year. Damn I wish I had gotten those season ticks on EBay a few months back--this is insane

Yea its the same thing over here. The Red Sox are playing in Japan at the end of March. I suppose its good to do the promo over there and gain a little more of a toehold and name recognition for future signings from over there and all that crap...BUT it cuts down spring training by a week or more plus its going to mean an ungodly amount of travel and all the associated jetlag to start the season. I hope its not too much of a distraction and doesnt screw things up too much...especially for the games in the LA Coliseum :) ( are you goin?) The kicker is that it was partially scheduled to be the DiceK 'triumphant return' type thing with all the PR and fanfare-- but his wife will be 9 months pregnant almost to the very day, so at this point it is questionable if he will even make the trip. oops Im still in that flippin waiting room.

I dont think so, they have more in common as far as cult characteristics than they dont..They could be enumerated. As far as the suicides you are right, people do have all sorts of reasons for suicide in the general population. Way figures will never be known, but it would be interesting to see if Way and post Way people had a higher percentage rate than the general population. The fact that TWI hid and whitewashed them never sat well with me and makes it near impossible. At least the Army, Navy, high schools, colleges , universities etc will recognize these things as a real problem, analyze them and make adjustments if necessary instead of living in the pretend Wayworld where everything was always hunkydory

Yea this is bad, I have 8 windows open to the waiting room right now and cant leave as you have a whopping 3 minutes and 30 seconds to make your selections and get all your other info (Credit Card numbers etc) in if perchance it ever does click into the Ticket Purchase area.... Im sure if Dante were still alive he would rewrite the Inferno to include the Virtual Waiting Room somewhere down on the lower levels... You might want to check out the Yankees site, (go dammit go) they are a little easier. I have a friend from NY who says he has an in on All Star game tix at the Stadium, but I will believe it when I see it.. ...did I read right the other day that the Dodgers open the season in Beijing?

:) Their 100 year rebuilding plan may be right on schedule this year ;) I am beginning to really love that period (early 20thC) of baseball which up until recently had been sort of a blackhole with only a few legends and stories for me...It is becoming more 'alive' and real as i read more....Ive been reading the Bill James Historical Baseball Abstract this winter and he said that both pennant races that year were the two best that there ever was and goes into some of it briefly---It sounds outstanding....I may pick up that book you are reading as a commemoration of the 100th anniversary of that season. The RS are releasing some more tickets today so I'll be in the online "Virtual Waiting Room" for a good chunk of the day----wish me luck--thats a modern thing I could do without

Well for us greasespotters and others who made it out in a semi sound matter, maybe. The Way did have no mass suicides, but there have been suicides by people in TWI or after they left and attempted to adjust to real life, how many will probably never be accurately known. Therapy is also almost a byword to exmembers, personally Id like to know how many ex members whose post cult symptoms became so severe that they not only required therapy but intensive treatment in mental hospitals or institutions. Personally I have met quite a few. The 'vision' of the Black rain and blood may be a little intense( thats another whole subject I wont get into now...) but its not that far off base on what was happening under the wayworld veneer

I was --- I still am---I love old baseball tales -anytime -but especially in January when I am about as far as one can get from baseball. My grandmother used to tell me stories about Ruth and Gehrig but I was very young -- she preferred talking about Ted Williams if she was in a baseball talking mood and i really didnt know how to direct her back to Ruth at the time. I talked to Dr B the next day (He talked about the '27 Yankees, Tony Lazzeri and Ruths speed on the basepaths) and told him that he HAS TO get these stories down, whether in writing or on some sort of audio. Hopefully (fingers crossed) he'll let me do that with him at some time in the future.. The next day I was relaying the story to someone else who told me that when the Red Sox AAA affiliate was in that town during the 60's the players of the era (many who went on to famed careers) would warm up for games by playing wiffleball in the streets with the neighborhood kids.... Oddly all these stories were told me within a few 100 yards of where baseball was first known to be played January is almost past---We've rounded a corner -- Pitchers and catchers report: 19 days 06h 11m 45s

Thanks --That was informative (as if I have to spend anymore time on this thing) for me --The RSS feeds and the Wiki are great ideas that are too simple to bypass any longer... I appreciate the info...

A friend who went to see the progress on the offseason renovations a few days ago sent me this photo of the countdown to the Home Opener

I read it about 10 years ago, Im a little sketchy on the details but I do remember liking it and that it was a very powerful story. I too "dropped everything", and ran away to Alaska when I was 18 so I had alot of common ground with the story that probably biased my perceptions as the story had an automatic in with me.

ME TOO! IM READY! after all the great stories and eras he told me, he smiles and says , "Y'know what is a great time in baseball? RIGHT NOW!! -this is a very exciting time I couldnt agree more.. :)

There was brief talk for awhile of him managing the Yanks after Joe's ouster and before both went with the Dodgers. At least he doesnt have to arangle out of that situation for his family needs, that could have been tough. I too wish him well. I had an appointment with a cool old doctor I just met today who is 83. After the boring health stuff we of course(!) got onto baseball. He was a RS fan but had grown up in NY as a Giants fan and regalled me with great stories of the young Willie Mays. When we got talking about outfield arms he described several amazing throws by Willie as if they happened last night but then surprised me totally and said the very best outfield arm he ever saw was RUTH. I almost fell off of my chair-He saw him play?!? Its been along time since I talked to anyone who actually saw Ruth play. He was a Yanks fan for awhile as a boy I overstayed my appointment by way too long as he told me a number of great stories of watching Ruth and Gehrig, Mays and 75 years of baseball with a memory that was as sharp as could be-- He remembered every detail I gotta go see this guy more often----Today was one of those days that was a real treat

I do remember hearing the story, ( I heard it second hand in 1979)but Im with Geo. on the believing it part, even when I had my full Way blinders on it sounded outlandish and concocted. It seems strange now that for an outfit supposedly dedicated to"Truth"(hahaha) how many talltales and just complete BS became part of wayculture.. Why was she behind a curtain?--was this for dramatic effect?

Huh? off the top of my head I can think of a Woman (Mararet Chase Smith), a black man ( Al Sharpton) and even a black woman (Shirley Chisholm) who have all run for president before. Im sure there are more.. None of them won because a majority of the voters didnt think they were qualified tio hold the office None- zero--I could care less what someones race or sex is The country has serious issues that need to be addressed, my vote is going to whoever imo can do the job best, I dont reallly care if they are green --it doesnt matter to me. Im sure there is some percentage of voters out there who will vote for 'the black guy' because he's black, the woman because shes a woman just as some voters will vote for 'the white guy' solely because he is white or vote for the one with the best suit or the best haircut. Personally I think this country has bigger issues that the best person for the job should handle
