.....its saturday....Ive been off from the bigs for a few days..but had an awesome wiffleball game with a 3 and 6 year old today----they were young but-I love teaching kids how to play--- the looks of determination on their faces, the joy when they hit it, and especially the way they run forever in any direction possible at the slightest contact. :D --they think everything is a homerun.. theyre great kids---they kept me smilin and laughing for a good long time

Honestly I dont drive a hybrid and havent done the research --Iknow its not all that helppful but friends who own Prius' ,all seem verry satisied and I have heard no complaints. A few I know have preordered the "Smart Car". which I am looking forward to seeing and driving in when they are released here iun the fall.....they are tiny two passenger vehicles about half the size of a VW Bug with a 3 cylinder engine. I think they have an electric model but Im not quite sure about that. They appear to be very well made and to me its an interesting concept---how it plays out in the real world will be interesting to watch--they seem to be doing well in Europe and around the world----If you dont need a ton of space they may be agood deal..

8 wins by mid may? is he shootin for the Denny Mclain magic 30 number? and Didja see this guy at the game? I was struck by a lot in that photo---almost like the yelling moms... I donr know the situation but the emotional intensity and reactivity compared to the other people in the crowd---seems a little over the top to me. do I really want him answering a tough phone call at 3AM?? i dunno-he just might blow somebody up :) Maybe I'll vote for the guy in the Hawaiian shirt his response looks alittle more measured anyway-- back to much more important matters Its awesome the older kids got him drafted, To be recognized by your peers-especially the older ones at that age is a great mark of accomplishment---if he is keeping kids from stealing on the big diamond already at age 13, he must have a real rocket of an arm...Tell him Im a big fan Im actually going to be in Joisey sometime next week-Id love to catch a game if its possible..

You have a way with words...which is about right ..I went to the batting cages last year with the 85-90 mph pitches, First time in the batters box against fast pitching probably in a few decades --the first few were by me before I even saw them. I started swinging almost before the machine released the pitch then fouled off maybe two of the 12 with my Dean Chance like swings. On the next set of quarters I "connected" on two actual groundballs, and one screeching 45 foot linedrive to right, whil;e growling at the machine "Is that all you got??? I was actually a pretty fair pitcher in my day from the 60' mound, I dont know if bouncing it up to the plate these days would work quite as well. maybe I could be a defensive replacement I know I have at least a foot ( mkaybe a foot and a half!!)of range (both ways!) on a good day Yea ---Im thinking of mounting a comeback. ..put me in coach ..Im ready to play..today..

there are some kids who lollygag and daydream in the outfield, thats just who they are, and there are others who are into every little nuance of the game and its very important to them..The little youve talked about Mac over the years he seems like one of those types of kids-which to me is a really good thing I was sort of the same way, I was a shy kid, and sports, especially baseball, was the first place that I really branched out , had my own interest, had real social interaction on my own, and forged alittle bit of my own identity, for me it was great..in a lot of ways...that eventually reached way beyond sports----I suppose that is why I still am connected to the game. As a catcher at that age (never mind leadoff hitter) Id bet he is one of the baseballsmarter kids on the field... I loved catching --although like Hiway said, that throw to second looked like it was a 1/4 mile away when I was 13 and more than one throw went sailing God knows where .. I can see you pacing

Bravo Mackie! Glad that he's enjoying himself, you have one smart kid there..Goalie, now catcher and batting leadoff --its easy to see that he likes to have his head in the game-and be right in the middle of the action-I loved catching even though it wasnt a natural position for me, Ijust loved being a student of the game and being right in the center of the action on every pitch. Mac seems like anatural.. It was huge leap for me from the little league fields at 12 to the "big' field at 13, it sounds like he is doing pretty well, I went to a little league game last night and had a great time--most of the kids were very good...but mostly like you said it was just some good wholesome fun. btw -- Are you one of those Mom's that yells everytime your boy is up? last night there were about 30 people at the LL game and it was mostly just baseball sounds kids playing, some polite claps, encouraging words and such and every once in awhile id here a Moms excited voice rise above the drone saying something like runjimmy run run run run run runjimmy runrunrunrun Not obnoxious but actually endearing and cute in asmall town sort of way...

Whats happenin in baseball land? Simon, Hiway, Tom, Rocky, Ex anybody??? I was at a game that almost had the strangest ending I had ever seen last week but it didnt quite get pulled off --still it was exciting for a few minutes The final out of the game had been made , players were leaving the field, fans exiting ( me included) As I was filing out I noticed an argument going on--it got pretty vehement--- I was watching and finallly figured out a balk had been called on the pitch of the final out...about ten minutes after what everyone thought was the final out play resumed. A walk, and a hit later the tying run came to the plate--it went to 3-2---- but thats as far as it went---Ive seen late comebacks--but after the game is over?? Didnt happen -but would have been memorable.. anyways- for no particular reason heres me lookin old and goofy and wearing a 2007 World Series Ring

If Harvey is ever in your area -- dont let the opportunity pass you by to see him--unfortunately he prefers to fly under the radar and is easy to miss. I walked into a bar by accident and saw him about 18 years ago and my jaw literally dropped at how good he was. I have seen him every chance i get ever since in some great and close up venues..,If you liked that little ditty you'll love him live.. schedule I wish I had more of him to post but I dont... but meanwhile--this piece from Doc Watson never gets old to me -especially now that the rivers are risin around here: Deep River Blues Happy Monday to y'all

My pleasure, I love the sound of a well played Taylor...it does have aunique sound. My personal favorite on a Taylor is Harvey Reid but being a reclusive guy he seems to have a thing about posting videos.. I couldnt any of his flatpickin, jigs, classical, or celtic stuff that he does so well-- but I did find this low quality but tasty fingerpicking arrangement of Londonderry Air--(Danny Boy)

A few tunes for a lazy Saturday Morning A Flatpickin Medley by Dan Crary and since its anice day for fishin Fishin Blues by Taj Mahal

Nothing famous here-- just my friend and neighbor Robin playing some good old blues tunes recorded on a cellphone camera in her living room I like Robin a lot --like many of us she is very down to earth and was a closet picker for many years in between other things---then woke up one day in her mid forties and decided she had had enough of the work a day world and wanted to make a go of being a professional musician---within 2 years she was headlining a few acoustic blues and gospel festivals, and doing fairly well with it.. (sorry for the quality-and Jake in the background making stupid comments--but you get the idea) http://www.robinoherin.com/

Who the hell is this pretentious halfwit Prager? And who cares? Who made him an expert on what is in the souls of other people he has never even met? ********* Wierwille had already given himself the easy out, in his distorted thinking anyone who committed suicide to him was "possessed" by some invisible boogaboo he made up. Wierwille had nothing to do with it, in his own mind was "righteous now" regardless of any of his heinous and irresponsible acts. His whole backwater mix and match theology was set up so there was no personal responsibility, "no condemnation", no reflection, no doubt, a near complete detachment from cause and effect, and little or no conscience In the bible its called a seered conscience.... &^%$ Him Rest In Peace Sandra Ann Sullivan

Gotta love it! I havent seen a pitcher pinch hit (that I can remember anyways) since '68 (of course Im an american leaguer so... its a little different. congrats to Micah.... mustve been a day for odd occurences I was at an old fashioned pitchers duel last night-one of the best that Ive seen in many years-Great games pitched by both Jon Lester (1 hitter through 8)and Roy Halliday( 3 hitter into the ninth) The only run of the game was scored with 2 outs in the bottom of the ninth. 1-0 walkoff win.. how rare is that these days?

Im no neopagan but Happy Beltane to you all as well ---It is one of the great times of the year where I am, and always reminds me of this old Tull song "Cup Of Wonder" May I make my fond excuses for the lateness of the hour, but we accept your invitation, and we bring you Beltane's flower. For the May Day is the great day, sung along the old straight track. And those who ancient lines did lay will heed the song that calls them back. Pass the word and pass the lady, pass the plate to all who hunger. Pass the wit of ancient wisdom, pass the cup of crimson wonder. Ask the green man where he comes from, ask the cup that fills with red. Ask the old grey standing stones that show the sun its way to bed. Question all as to their ways, and learn the secrets that they hold. Walk the lines of nature's palm crossed with silver and with gold. Pass the cup and pass the lady, pass the plate to all who hunger. Pass the wit of ancient wisdom, pass the cup of crimson wonder. Join in black December's sadness, lie in August's welcome corn. Stir the cup that's ever-filling with the blood of all that's born. But the May Day is the great day, sung along the old straight track. And those who ancient lines did lay will heed this song that calls them back. Pass the word and pass the lady, pass the plate to all who hunger. Pass the wit of ancient wisdom, pass the cup of crimson wonder.

From what i hear it is state of the art all the way (at $1.5Billion I suppose it ought to be..), Homeplate seats are reportedly going for $3,500.00/seat/game.( I wont be sitting there often I assure you....)...and it is at least 1/2 again bigger footprint wise than old Yankee Stadium which was already enormous....as a far as I know they took the best of the classic stadium elements and incorporated them all and the measurements----well Im not really sure--the measurements there have changed many times but the layout and view is the same. When I have a little more time (Im squeezed right now) I'll see if I can huntdown some more up to date process shots... You know who I am and I feel about the same as you...my NYY friends are almost in silent freakout mode ...Its hard to believe that it is going but I sort of think that wth the other one being right there--in a few years people will get used to it.... sort of an aside --but with NYC currently buiding 3 different billion dollar stadiums at once for the Yanks, Mets and Giants--I have to wonder how much some Tony Soprano is making somewhere

yea Im still stunned- in between running around with everyday stuff it still hasnt sunk in yet welcome back btw.. I have 3 games this week at Fenway but its raining and cold and is supposed to be that way all week <_< I suppose a few rainouts wouldn't be bad for the sox to regroup having just been swept by The Rays (who are for real this year) and are on a 5 game losing streak.. any teams out that way had the flu yet? It went through the RS like the plague. ..... all star game.. the last allstar game at Yankee Stadium... it still doesnt seem real

Sorry this is off topic, but I hope that you have taken time since you were out to redefine what "friends" are--it was so bastardized in TWI that it took me a few years to realize how clueless they were when it came to understanding even simple concepts and that I had to rethink every little thing...I have what I consider to be real friends now, not ones based on an artificial construct. All the BS we were taught about "unconditional love" (which you only merited if you met certain conditions) is all humorous to me now because it was so profoundly absurd and f'ed up. Good luck with getting the kids to clean up their rooms Ok back to the thread carry on...

I left, more or less, when the whole state that i was in got 'fired' at the time of the loyalty letter from Martindale, so I never had any personal last words with higher ups....it just wasnt there anymore. I was still waybrained however and more or less interested for a few years afterward while I adapted to not having any Way Fellowships around. About two years later I was in Florida on a business trip with a coworker and decided to look up a Twig to go to and to bring him to it. I called the limb to find out where the nearest twig was-- some guy named Allan Li**t answered the phone. Hi, Im in town where is there atwig near me? I had to play the 900 questions with him for about 2 hours...Who's your limb leader? Who's your twig coordinator? How come you arent going to fellowship? Why dont you have the b*lls to stand with the MOG of our time...? on and on and on and on and on while he got hotter and hotter and louder and louder---making a huge deal of Martindale ...I got the feeling that I had to kiss his ring and genuflect or something, then, if I vowed my eternal allegiance they would allow me to maybe--just maybe--after a period of initiation to go....it was a real joke ...the weird thing was that at the time I wanted to go --I cant imagine what it was like for people on the inside. That was my last official contact with TWI I dont know what ever happened to that Li**t guy maybe he is enjoying his career as Craigs personal a$$wiper or something, as for me he did me a huge favor by showing me just how screwed up the place had become--I guess I owe him a debt of gratitude for not allowing me to come and having a mental fit in the process

Good Luck-- have a great time! Ive been out three times in the last eight or so years, have always had sightings and a great time. I went off Gloucester on Cape Ann (from the same pier that The Perfect Storm was filmed). The last time out about three years ago I saw fifteen or more in various stages of diving, leaping, breaching, cavorting, and swimming, --one actually snuggled up near the side of the boat to check us out and I got a very close (10 or 15 feet) "eye to eye" for about a minute or so....great stuff! :) Bring a camera, your sunblock, and maybe an extra sweatshirt or two (it can go from sunny to brisk in a hurry out there..) If you go to Gloucester have swordfish (or any seafood really) at any of the local places on the water when you come back--as far as Im concerned it is the absolute best in the world..
