I dont either---I know what the rumor has been off and on around here ('roids) (but I wont say it..) I'll have to check up on DeWitt--he's slipped under my radar (thats easy to do..)but I'm lovin watchin the whole next generation come up... The Sox are loaded---Jacoby Ellsbury (possibly the fastest base runner I have ever seen), Pedroia (leads the league in hits), Buchholz, Lester(the no hit kids) Jed Lowrey (no place to put him but a great infielder with power from both sides of the plate)--Justin Masterson a big big kid came up and made a brilliant spot start, and there are still names I have yet to see but heard great things about. The 'kids' are very exciting-Its hard to pick any favorite--Im likin em all... I got to see Ryan Braun and Prince Fielder last weekend...it looks like baseball will be fine and fun for at least the next 20 years. Rain? in California? I didnt know that was legal! Be careful of those damn tornadoes! strap yourself in---or at least pray its blowing out while your guys are up.. have agood time

Just another old friend that I happened to find some videos of: Ned's my favorite street musician, Ive probably run into him 50 times in the last 25 years or so in various parts of the country. He and his dog Potato travel the country singing---A real wandering minstrel -he's great guy, a a good guitar player and writer-- If you ever see him playing the streets near you tell him I say Hi Im glad I found these Falling Down Ordinary Man

I didnt see the pujols thing but it sounds good... I dont know how these Florida teams do it....(Although I have a suspicion the Rays are there specifically to give people from New England, New York, Baltimore and Toronto an excuse to spend 3 or 4 days in Florida--a t least it always seemes to be filled with away fans when I see a game..).. I was at a game that eventually got rained out last week at Fenway, It could have been called at 6 but it wasnt officially called until almost 9. Play never started --but 37,000 people were milling around for 3 hours. Having nothing much else to do I was wondering how much they made per hour from people just being there...Beer at 7.25, Water at 4.25, food astronomically priced etc. I stayed very conservative and still spent about $30--$35- If that was average thats over a million bucks brought in during a rainout just on the extras...but there were also mountains of people buying the high price items-- the $100 sweatshirts, $200 coats, and game jerseys--game used bats, and the people who had to keep families of kids entertained for three hours buying foam fingers and $30.00 hats and all that residue--Whatever they brought in it had to have been huge --and the game wasnt even played... and this doesnt even include the highest priced tickets in baseball...I know the RS are "hot" right now-- a lot of clingers etc etc. but How on earth, from a business standpoint, do these FL teams stay in business if they cant draw even a minimal crowd with very good teams? I dunno If they retract em I call dibs on Hanley Ramirez and Scott Kazmir though. It was good to see a whole slew of Brewers fans who came to Fenway for the weekend, thats a long way and they all paid huge to do it

What the heck is that little indentation directly below your nose and between your nostrils called? Im sure its probably got a name but I just cant think of it Thats all.... If anyone ---whether creationist, evolutionist or pedestrian has any theories on what it is for --or why in Gods wonderous master plan we all needed a concave face dent or why we evolved with a nose gutter i'd be curious to hear what you think. gimme your most outlandish theory Mods-If this needs to be moved to Just Plain Stupid--thats fine I have no idea why I wake up wondering these things--

uggggggg a 50 something minister visiting 8 college girls and walking around flashing? Its not hard to see what his real priorities in life were and it wasnt exactly moving "The Word" I was a WOW in 82 and we got no actual visit but a "special prerecorded video visit" All the WOWs were instructed to come to a meeting IN OUR PAJAMAS and Vic was sitting in the Video in his Pajamas Yea it was pretty creepy Now that I think of it he was probably priming the pump and getting some of those pretty young Wows and apprentice corps girls used to being around him in his PJ's

The birthday was a few days ago Tom ---thanks and good luck to the Stars and Rangers--hopefully we'll be seeing the Celtics and Spurs soon as well. It was cool in all sorts of ways to see Lester throw the no-no, like Francona said he's just a good kid that you cant help but pull for... Its eerie that there is a new generation of Red Sox kid fans who are thinking that no-hitters and World Series wins are regular occurences----how things change----- Excie--Im trying to figure out any English most of the time never mind 8th grade English(which I failed miserably if I recall) --and then compact it in a few sentences--- To me its a ashame that the government had to get involved in controlling steroids and other performance enhancing drugs in baseball. Baseball should be self regulating but dropped the ball so the government( which really should have bigger things to do) intervened. Its good and bad and good and bad. Its good that baseball will be cleaned up, bad that they couldnt (or wouldnt) do it themselves, bad that the game had to be stained in the national spotlight, good that its finally over, Good that someone has the power to do it, bad in that I'd rather see the government dealing with things of more far reaching importance. There--thats a start--is that completely confusing enough? :) Im tired too its midnight--maybe I'll try something coherent in the morning

Welcome back stRanger! Its all good... What a game tonight--about the 6th it dawned o n me that Jon Lester hadnt given up a hit yet...the last three innings got the adrenaline slowly getting amped up, got me pacing until I thought my heart would leap out of my chest by the ninth...Its good to know that the excitement can still get amped up Congratulations to Jon Lester on the first no-hitter of the year. First lefty in 52 years to toss one in Fenway. at 24 -he has beaten cancer, won the final game of the World Series and now thrown a no-hitter You have to like this 24 year old. He's all sorts of awesome "He's not just a good kid because he threw a no-hitter," Terry Francona said. "He's a good kid because he's a good kid." Fantastic, amazing, brilliant, wonderful Good for him--that was exciting!

Well better go quick make yourself a constitutional amendment--- I like em.. ---and bacon too (which is also another ungodly abomination biblically) Two abominations before I even finished my coffee this morning. Maybe Im going to hell and bringing the country down but
-
I was wondering about this too. There are many things that are against "Gods laws" and specifically sited as 'abominations" to God. I have no idea why they want to zero in on this one. (Well I do , but I'll keep that to myself for now) Eating shellfish (crab, lobster, clams, mussels etc..)is an abomination to God. Its mentioned 3 times as an 'abomination' Ive yet to see such passionate protests against this great "atrocity" at the Clam Hut or Red Lobster where this abomination is openly practiced! Our government even subsidizes fishermen who bring this...this.. horrible pox of ..lobsters .. into our country... Why no equal outcry against this abomination to God and his laws? It would make an interesting study see the underlying psychological factors contributory to why people pick and choose as they do... Im gonna go make some crabcakes for breakfast

To a certain extent yes you do, nobody is trying to harness your beliefs or practice of those beliefs other than where it is restrained by law (No you cant sacrifice animals or stone unruly children or marry multiple wives..) As a christian I assume you believe that a young virgin gave birth to a child, who grew through his years without ever once doing anything wrong, and after he died became "undead" (or something along those lines). To many people that sounds completely crazy. So they think its crazy, so what? You still have the freedom to love and serve the undead guy to your hearts content no matter what anyone says To you -well--you havent stipulated exactly what you think -only that it is against your God's Law so I assume you think it is crazy (or pick your own word..)for the possibility of people of the same sex to fall in love and want to be wed. Is it any crazier than believing a man rose from the dead, or a woman who never had sex could conceive? Not really. If equality under the law and equality of justice are hallmarks of this country and its supposed freedoms, how can one group (in this case fundamentalist christians )legally and in good conscience demand special attention that excludes others who are also promised the same freedom to "pursue their happiness". It doesn't make sense to withhold from others what has been given to them. IMO Christians would do well and go a lot further in their impact in society if they would learn to Love their Neighbor instead of spending their energies looking on others as misfits, undesirables and evil ones.. ( I think that is also one of Gods Laws...)

always good to hear Lewis!

Well fortunately (or unfortunately-depending on your view) we dont live in a theocracy. Iran was close for awhile--Al Qaeda is trying---our system evolved out of the era of divine kingdoms-- somehow that stuff never quite works in a practical way--no matter how many times it is tried---but because you still have the freedom to choose, no one is forcing you to go against your own personal interpretation of scripture for your own life. If you are given that freedom to live as you choose, which I assume you think is a good deal, why do yo feel compelled to restrict the same freedom of choice to others?

Really? I was under the impression that California had a constitution as its law which I can only assume was written by men.Correct me if Im wrong maybe I missed the finger of God part descending to Sacramento sometime in years past, although Im pretty sure that would have made the news, or that the law of the land was someones own interpretation of their favorite section of scripture. If the US and states have laws regarding equality and legal protection for all citizens, then its only right that these laws should be upheld, else change to a theocratic system-like some middle eastern countries who govern based on their interpretation of religious laws. Thankfully--at least to me--we, most of the time, dont do things like that here, but have a legal standard of ideals and moral codes that are supposedly to be fair to all americans (not just the ones in my group). Its not that long since the ban against interracial marriages was challenged, and the traditional (but nonlegal) laws against it changed, or as NIKA pointed out women couldnt vote, or you could own another human being. All equal means all equal, Its been the foundation of this country from the beginning..Is it really that hard to understand that this is a very important precept in what fundamentally makes us a 'good country'? LINK BTW....Six of the seven justices on the court were appointed by Republicans.

9-0 is hard to believe midway through May thats amazing... as far as the clip --Manny caught it going away in left-- kept going three or four paces and leaped at the wall to high five a guy in a Red Sox shirt, came down, then threw to the cutoff man who doubled the runner off of first...just everyday Manny stuff :) EDIT: HERE is another video of the catch I just found I have boxes behind the ondeck circle tonight --The BrewCrew is coming to town as Interleague play starts (will we have our annual rant against interleague play now?---Simon are you out there? :) ) Manny is sitting on 498--Im not really into the numbers so much as the ballgame but it would be cool to see his 500th.. I'll be hoping we have agood night its still cold and nasty in New England these days
-
Whats happenin out there/ I gotta give some congrats to The Rays who as of now have their best record ever and are in first in the AL East.. (we'll see how long that lasts but they are definitely tough and will be around for awhile) and I dont know if you saw this play from last night or not It's just another "Manny being Manny" moment that Ive grown to love so much, Ya gotta love it when he makes a good catch and then high fives a fan before throwing it in for the DP

Thank You very much everyone, I had a great day yesterday while turning 53- spring is finally springing here in the Northeast and I got out and enjoyed it. BTW if any of you can find the time slower gizmo send it on by-- I swear a few days ago I was 18, I blinked a few times, and here I am. :) It goes quick-- enjoy each day -every day
-
Thank you very much---Im 53 --I really dont want much --maybe getting my wind back after smoking for 38 years would be nice.. I played softball last night for the first time in quite awhile and chasing down those flyballs and taking infield isnt nearly as easy as it used to be--the glove still works, the arm still works, even the bat wasnt bad-- but the back and lungs arent quite so cooperative just yet though. I may have lost a step um....well....about 14 steps with the legs too.. Im working on it all though...It was great to be back on a field

Thank You very much Rock :)

I couldnt vote either, it wouldnt count my vote (just like in a lot of our states  ). I make and restore church stained glass windows. Ive been doing to it for close to 30 years, I've been self employed and have had my own shop for the last 10 or so years...I do some consulting, and spec writing for Historical Preservation jobs as well and volunteer at the local homeless shelter. Im still warming up in the bullpen though just in case the Red Sox need a 52 year old relief pitcher with a 44 mph fastball and a badback, in which case Im ready for the career change

I thought I was more or less happy at the time but the whole thing was such a mind screw that I had nothing real to guage it against. In retrospect it was more like Geo described some sort of incessant striving for something that might be up around the next corner--like a rabbit chasing a carrot on a stick--and never quite getting hold of it..Somehow I always seemed to screwup (or so they lead me to believe) just at the wrong moment..and didnt get the whole carrot.. so it was get back up and start chasing the carrot again. The chase kept me too distracted to really feel much of anything except on a very superficial level... It took a long time after getting out of that place, that pretty much denied any feeling that you had, to re integrate real emotions into my life in a workable way. Im still working on it No matter what lifes challenges are --Im a helluva lot happier now than I pretended to be in my waydaze

We had the "Aunt Bea" version in my day! ---or maybe Betty Hill from King of the Hill lookalikes-no Pam Andersons in sight in those days... Of course I dont remember hardly anyone going to LL games in those days---mostly just a small handful of other kids who were st the playground and a parent or two who was there to pick up their kid and give em a ride home-it wasnt that big a deal then I guess--I just rode my old stingray bike swung the glove on the highhandlebars balanced my bat and rode across town to the game--sometimes Id give a friend a ride and there'd be two of us on the bike....no one ever gave it a thought -Today they have hot dog stands, parents (and families)that watch the whole game, every game, Pam Andersons ..and even in my tiny town 3 or 4 games going all at once... I'd sure like to have some of those baseball cards I used to put in the front inside of my hat--I could retire early...
