He's at alot of games, not all..sort of like Nicholson at the Laker games-----(Does he still go?) They show King at the National TV big games--but its the first time Ive seen him interviewed at a game in 2 or 3 years. It was just an odd appearance, before the game (maybe I can find a clip) he was talking about fighting in baseball--and of course a few hours later two fights broke out. just an odd night The best part was seeing Paul Pierce channeling Willis Reed are you watching the NBA finals ?

baseball names..... I'd like to hear anymore that you got...Years ago someone told me about an old third base coach somewhere who had the perfect name "Pop" Fleiss. whether that was real or imagined i never checked out.. anyway--I guess I should move the "What Happened" thread over here Im still trying to figure out "What Happened" last night at Fenway. maybe it was something in the water... 1st inning: Gametime begins early at 6:05, moved up an hour to accommodate Celtics game. 1st inning: Manny Ramirez launches homer #503, a three-run shot. 2nd inning: James Shields drills Coco Crisp; Coco charges the mound- basebrawl ensues. 2nd inning: In the aftermath, Coco, Shields and Jonny Gomes are all ejected. 2nd inning: Chris Carter makes his major league debut, replacing Coco. 4th inning: Jacoby Ellsbury makes spectacular diving catch, bends wrist backwards in a way God doesn't intend, leaves the game. 4th inning: Kevin Youkilis called in to play rightfield for the first time in his career 4th inning: Chris Carter gets first major league hit 5th inning: Manny and Youkilis get into a mini-fight with each other in the dugout. 7th inning: Manny tweaks his hamstring while at-bat, leaves the game. 7th inning: Kevin Cash possibly the slowest runner in major league baseball called in from the bullpen to pinch run for Manny. 8th inning: Streaker in Celtics jersey, runs entirely across field, breaking three tackles while evading security 9th inning: Red Sox complete sweep of Rays, go up 1.5 games in AL East. Was it something in the water? Because that's a run of some crazy stuff. There's something else to add to the list: Stephen King made an appearance doing a pregame interview on NESN in Sox hat That guy is the definition of weird... anyway hopefully (but who knows ?) back to normal today. Ill wait to hear about the suspensions, the aftermath of the infighting, and the injuries to Ellsbury and Manny. Congratulations to Christ Carter on hit #1, I wonder what the fine for the streaker will be? and hopefully I'll never have to see Kevin Cash pinchrun ever again

...hmm..the new environmentally friendly "green" Jesus? Its may have been a patina to make it look like it was copper.. I know sculptors who do that so well you could almost never tell

It doesnt surprise me...about 6 months ago I traveled to a church in Detroit that called me to do some restoration work for them. It was an incredibly beautiful and wealthy church--but in an equally terrible neighborhood. They had allsorts of things that had been stolen from them --some from right off the walls that required intense effort. While I was there for about an hour or so I was honestly very concerned about my truck and aload of tools that I had with me that was parked in their "secure" parking lot. When I was surveying the church they told me that the crime rate in the immediate neighborhood was 273% of that of the worse section of the Bronx in NYC and the worst rate in the country. Pay wise it was avery lucrative job, but I excused myself and told them that I was very very busy and wouldnt be able to do their job, just a leetle too crazy for me

The last time I was in a McDonalds, I was watching the pimply faced kid at the grill with his runny nose dribbling onto the grill, wiping his nose with his bare hand and sneezing while he was making my burger. It was enough to make me wretch, I couldnt bring myself togo near that burger. ...they dont make much money, are usually young and inexperienced and the managers ought to know better and train them better. Im done with em --anymore, even if the food is prepared right, as I get older it still makes me sick Fast Food for me these days is coffee at the Dunkin' Donuts drive through, if they get it right 8 out of 10 times, it ticks me off alittle but its what Ive come to expect more or less. Sidelight: The Dunkins' that I go to screwed up my order about 4 times in a 2 week period a few months back, I never discovered it until I was back on the road. The next time I was in I got the coffee gave them a $5.00 and they inadvertantly gave me change for a $20.00. I spose I was a creep but I kept it, to my way of thinking its the screwups balancing out

I have nothing specific to add to the topic, I did however think this was a very interesting and thought provoking statement that bears repeating There is more than I would want to extrapolate in ashort post embedded in that statement, but it is very telling

Yea but what do I know? I just took a few moments to muse some on it and ramble a little, Good art to me always has a different thing to unveil, awaken or remind you of depending on where you are.... thats part of what makes art interesting to me, The observer can also take part in the creative process to some degree in the experience of viewing it I dont think any one interpretation or feeling is necessarily set in stone. If it were a different day or I really didnt take the real time to actually look and experience it I may have said it would make a nice postcard :) But thats one of the underlying points, is that art (or spiritual moments or whatever you want to call it) are all around us, Whether I see the things around me as art or a 'postcard' is up to me. I really dont know anything about art and could be way way off base, doojable asked I just gave a few thoughts of what ran, walked, crawled and zapped through my mind

I hadnt thought of the opening of the new stadium--Now THAT will be something--or at least it should be. done up to be quite abig deal I dont know if Bobby will get the ball or not--good luck if he does--even though I gave him my fair share of heckling during my teen years--I wish him all the best in his recovery.

Im not a scientist, but I am 53 years old and I can tell you that they climate has changed in my lifetime. When I was 3, 4,5,9 one of my grandmothers sayings was "April showers bring May flowers". It always rained through April and cleared up iby early May--that was 40+ years ago...well its June now and its still rainin like hell here and every year it gets later and later.... The patterns of winters and other things have changed as well.. Its certainly not catastrophic but it isnt what it used to be either-you dont have to be a scientist to see that where I am Is it manmade? Is it dangerous to our future? I couldnt tell you, it could be all natural cycles for all I know, but observation says it is happening. If the government wants to offer tax incentives to companies that develop new technologies for vehicles that get 50 -60-70 mpg by burning fuel more efficiently, or work on processing and developing alternative fuels, which they definitely could do if motivated, or ?? who knows what they could come up with,I'd be in favor of it. If only for the reason that I'm highly in favor of clean air and clean water and responsible and efficient use of resources 17%in CO2reduction in 12 years doesnt sound all that stunning to achieve --especially since were able to put a man on the moon in 8

1) An amazing piece of work. I love things from the post civil war reconstruction period that have a focus on the reintroduction of light(masterfully rendered!) child like innocense and natural richness and beauty. Is a very hopeful and forward looking painting that was a theme after the incredibly dark and destructive times of the recent 1860's ... It still emanates those same qualities (at least to me) in almost a timeless way although it is fairly easy to date it from in being a product of that period. No matter--yes its a great piece. 2) Well hell yeah Id enjoy living with it! I'll put right up in the trailer next to the dogs playing poker! seriously--I'd love to live with it but I dont have the right context and space for it, if I lived in a large Victorian Home and had an ..i dunno..a large mahogany walled relaxed library or something like that where it had time--I'd take it---but I dont have the library or any other appropriate space for it to really work at the moment and somehow itwouldnt seem right hanging over my tool bench... 3)Like I said, its a very hopeful painting, that plays to the virtue of....not innocence exactly---maybe....say....simplicity and or purity. The light in the lanterns as well as from the children seems to emanate from within. They are clothed in pure white and the lanterns they hold ( a message of some sort?) also emanate the light that they have placed there--they almost imply Centuries previous always seemed to have angels with simple light filled halos, winged, arriving from someplace else with whatever message they had to deliver, portrayed in a more strictly religious context.......This seems to take out the religious context and "sees" the renewed message of hope in the simplest things of everyday life, -- two young girls in a garden---if we keep our eyes open to see, and find the 'message' within that new (for the time) context. The image is almost archetypical that appears all through history in one form or another, every generaton seems to need to find an example that works in their own time. Sargent did good to find it in his...it spiritualizes a simple moment--and move that experience from religion to everyday. as far as my feelings for the painting...Im too moody, I vassilate(sp). I obviously appreciate the message and the paint craft in it, I can 'see it" appreciate it and feel what it offers one second, and then think it a bit sappy and sentimental the next. Thats not to downgrade the painting, nor have less appreciation of it but its in a way an amazingly conceived and executed period piece that depending on me may or may not have immediate relevance

I dont know if Id ever choose to be a pitcher with a name like that... If there was ever a name that is bound to be in a baseball story someday.....thats one...

Thanks I will and I'll try to catch up on some Hamilton as well .....Papi Ortiz could be out for the season after popping something in his wrist the other day....The Sox are deep and they may be OK. Im not worried (other than I'll miss watching him and hoping for his quick recovery)....The weird thing that after all my tirading for the last few years, that if they decide to get someone to replace him for the year that can provide somesort of power and numbers in his spot the logical choice is ( and biting my tongue) Bonds. Im not going to worry about it--I'll leave it up to Theo to make decisions and figure the ins and outs of all that. Its a beautiful afternoon and I got a ballgame in afew hours--thats enough

Im lookin forward to getting more exposure to Hamilton--Its a great story and he looks exciting to watch... Im off to the game tonight against the first place Rays (boy--ive never had to say that before..). I invited my sister who I havent been to a game with in 41 years. When she was 19 and I was 11, she would bring me, her little brother, to games all through the magical summer of '67 everytime she was having a hard time with her boyfriend which was alot that year. She even got me World Series tickets that year (which cost a whopping $4.00) ---It only took me 41 years to return the favor-- This should be fun--she is still like a little kid at a game. I'll be in my Manny gear to welcome him home for the first appearance after #500 Ortiz is hurt, Manny's DHing now--as I'm typing he's on TV and said regarding DHing " How are they ever gonna replace my Gold Glove? ....

I still have mine, its been sitting on the bureau for about 10 years next to a bear claw. No matter how screwed up it all was- I earned it. i dont know what to do with it..I havent worn it in over 20 years. I do sort of like the world in blue and gold symbol----thats not to say that I havent thought of making it into a fishing lure, trying to sneak it on the Mars Rover project, or burying it at Stonehenge..I just havent figured it out yet

Ithink you are pretty much on the money with that one.. I dont know how exactly it worked in TWI-- Sorta off topic--- After the implosion in the late 80's I was in a tiny offshoot for awhile. I was in a small fellowship one night at a housing project, people were milling around afterwards when the "area coordinator/leader guy" asked me to step outside for a minute. We went out the back screen door and found a quiet spot between a tree and a dumpster (ha) and he said he wanted to pray for me..he put his hand on my shoulder and started praying more or less as I was used to, then started getting alittle intense...blah blah blah..long story short "iwas called" he 'ordained me' and then strongly told me to leave all things of the world behind. That exact moment was the very first I had heard of it, and it honestly screwed me up for quite awhile as I was still in the TWI believe the BS mode. Looking back he was a lazy pr!ck who really wanted an assistant and a lapdog, but he had the manipulative tools and could get intense enough 'sperchally' that to me, stll being in the TWI mindset, it was extremely difficult to deal with He made all sorts of demands on me after that, urged me to quit my job not be 'entangled with the world--and believe God" (believe him, become poverty stricken and do what he told me to do is what that meant). I shortly thereafter I did quit my job (wrong move), then left the group as the demands got more and more and stranger and stranger...and finally I just left, moved away and wandered around for a few years trying to figure out WTF happened. that was not an easy period...there was no greasespot or waydale then. .....This 'leader' learned by watching VPW, the scale was smaller but probably true in a way to TWI's method. I was a hard worker, I believed him, I was a "true believer", at one point there was nothing I wouldnt do. At the time I was manipulable--which could be key elements they looked for... ...its ironic I was within 10 feet of a friggin dumpster when this all happened. If there is a God, that part of 'my ordination' was like a real sign, although it took me a while to figure out. I eventually chucked the whole thing and my whole Way experience right where it belonged.. or ..who knows...maybe where I was told to

That statement should be written somewhere in gold. Seriously Its the best therapy on the planet-- its exactly the rhythms and the moments 'in between' that gives you time to unwind from the ampedupness and unnatural stresses of life that creep in. You should write that in a letter to Bickley and Selig, I'll put it in a cathedral window coming out of Haysus's mouth if I ever get the chance......... Speaking of Julian tavarez....and Manny....and in between moments HERE THEY ARE all rolled into one :lol: who says you need lightening quick action to have fun at a game? Sometimes its unexpected tiny moments like this that can be memorable... I already have enough hurry, hurry, hurry---I dont need anymore. If need be you can always follow Manny's lead during pitching changes--sit back-- relax--enjoy

As it should be---Last year Manny took heat from the national press when the Red Sox were down 1-3 in the ALCS and he was quoted saying "eet doan madder" with a laugh ....to the shock of all the serious people..Thats just Manny Baseball should be fun. ............................ I took two other classes on the field in the 1980's one some class on government by Tom Jenkinson, ther second a financial class by Franklin Smith. I cant remember if they were taped or live (yea they made quite an impression on me...)

I was out of touch during my way years--It may have happened around 85-86 with the same three teams -Im not sure if it has happened anywhere else----I have hard time believing thats its actually happening NOW and i get to see it.. An interesting stat: Batting Averages of 500+ HR club: Williams .344 Ruth .342 Foxx .325 Ramirez .312 Thats pretty good company--and I get to see that as well----amazing. As far as speeding up the game--I'll look up the article and read it later, right off the bat I agree with what you say about the mollycoddling of the casual fans---but somethings do irk me at times, Last year the O's had Steve Trachsel who I watched a few times ,and criminy, you could go out and get a beer or two and eat a hotdog in between pitches---that got annoying after awhile because it affected the rhythms in the game--stuff like that i wouldnt mind controlling a little. but artificially speeding it up also effects the natural rhythms of the game---there's got to be balance they can find somewhere. --------------- Celtics vs Lakers Im lovin it-- just like old times. It was good to see John Havlicek (he used to be on my paper route) presenting the Eastern Divison Trophy, maybe we'll catch a glimpse of Jerry West.. _______ Damn--world series ring on my finger, a nohitter last week, a 500th homerun this week , and an NBA final I dont know how this happened--but Im lovin it all!
