This isnt about baseball -just thought it was a cool picture from the Celtics parade.. Some pictures are worth a thousand words

I always thought that it was interesting that Martindale did a class called "Rise and Expansion" and then watched the ministry that was handed to him dwindle to near nothing in a few short years. Yea --he knew a lot about that subject.

nah ----I was in New Jersey this weekend workin.... The green shirts were to honor the Celtics btw, those good old Boston Irish Boys who play basketball , who just won the NBA title. Its been a long drought in Boston --about a whole 6 months since the last championship of any kind, but alas the long months of suffering are over so it was only right to honor them with green.... I may be seeing the snakes this week coming up (Im in negotiations...)if so I'll let you know, I'll be wavin

muse on when you get the chance--- Drew is on fire at the moment--even with a whole raft of injuries the Sox are looking Ok, ...Ellsbury could steal about 80 bases the way he is going........I knew the Yankees wouldnt be asleep for ever....I had to turn down boxes behind third for yesterdays game at Yankee Stadium against the Padres because I couldnt get away for an afternoon game and 2 and a half hours each way --(which seems like some sort of blasphemy) Im on the road myself to Joisey for the next three days--I'll check in when I can---

A good lesson for the lawyers to get geared up for the gay divorces that will be coming in a few years. Thats already a problem in the east.

Seems Kevin Millar (ex Sox now of the O's) and Jason Varitek had a bet on the Celtics/Lakers final... Millar had the Lakers-- This is the result: Not only is his head bleached but his at abat music is now "Ice Ice Baby" Be careful what you bet :)

The gift ministry of AntiPastor? is that something new TWI discovered in its research? Maybe they call it something else---Im not going to go crack a bible right now but isnt there something in there about 'ravenous wolves seeking who they may devour?' That sounds pretty close to your description

I dont know who your talking about but it seems appropriate for a way guy. Its a good analogy for the whole (gag) "ministry"--thats pretty much what they always did anyway

Wow check this out- I was just listening to an interview about this kid from Creighton who is a “switch pitcher”. Pat Venditte was drafted by the Yankees in the 20th round and assigned to the Class A Staten Island club. He uses a specially made 6-fingered glove so he can switch from throwing righty to lefty without changing gloves. He said that when he faced switch hitters in college he had to “declare” from which side he was going to throw and then allow the batter to pick his side of the plate. During the interview, he mentioned that he sometimes pitched both games of a double header in college and has never had arm problems. Given his position in the draft, he probably needs a lot of development before he would be major league ready, but imagine the possibilities...... how many innings could he pitch a year? 400? could he be a righty and lefty relief specialist? Watching him pitch has just been added to my list of things I'd like to to do this summer. Found him on Youtube:

After the first 25 years or so its not that hard anymore The crafting gets simpler, the art is always difficult, but after 28 years the really hard part is scaling the sides of huge churches and hoping that you dont drop anything---The views are generally really great thoughand its always good to have an angel or two on hand watching over you when you are that high ..... Its hard to believe that especially that second Crewdson piece is actually a photograph-the depth and the feel is magnificent... Im curious who dooj is talking about

thats an amazing piece -- im a little distracted at the moment-- i dont know if this piece (below) qualifies as art (thats a centuries long discussion right there..). This is a small detail of an angel from a very large window that will be visiting my studio for a few months and I will be living with her very closely for a few months as i restore it.. :) It was done by Henry Holiday in 1895, a PreRaphaelite painter and designer in the William Morris circle. The colors, painting, design in person in situ are absolutely breathtaking Unfortunately photographs can never really capture the brilliance of transmitted color through glass nor the overall effect in the architectural space--- this is just a small detail

I'd be curious what message boards you went to...Ive been to most of the Red Sox and Yankees ones and most of them are really bad--(Yankees are better! Sox are better!..I hate you!! )<_< -----but the same things holds true for most other teams mesageboards that I have gone to as well. I generally keep it down to two these days which although they can get alittle obnoxious at times both generally have some genuinely good insights that outweigh anything too obnoxious.. Like greasespot there is enough to keep me interested and I just avoid the BS without getting entangled. I dont know where you went --these two maybe a little better the Yankees http://www.nyyfans.com the Red Sox http://www.sonsofsamhorn.net

Im still unsure exactly what I think about, in one sense human error by umpires is part of the game, and it adds just that little extra uncertainty to things...which although maddening at times..is the way life and baseball work On the other hand if they could do it unobtrusively ...say by having a 5th umpire watching replays in the press box and sending signals to the field umps it may be OK under certain restrictions. Im with Simon in that it should be only used for certain predetermined plays- --but I have a feeling if they do start using it, that it will open the floodgates and eventually (10-20-30 years) it will be used for everything...

Actually they do, Exxon-Mobil has approximately 12,000 stations on a computerized system and dictate the prices to the individual station owners. This has been reported in a number of articles over the last few years...I have actually been standing at the pump when a manager has come and changed the pump prices on orders from the managers from the corporate offices. I mean "then they raised prices". Although we hear a lot on the news daily about the prices for barrels of crude oil, the price at the pump has not been going up equal to the price of crude oil-- but at a much higher rate. Exxon has stated it has been able to offset much of the higher price by reducing its refining costs . Although crude oil is high, the difference between the raw costs of oil and the sale price to consumers has never been higher, hence the highest profit margins in history. Thats what I mean by "raising prices". ....and... ...If you want to debate something political about this--we probably ought to move it over to the other room and leave these good folks here in peace :)
