WOW--Just WOW Thanks for making MY lazy sunday afternoon!!! When I initially left TWI , I used to hang in a pub near MIT and it was those incredibly smart and off the wall folks with an entirely different perspective from there that were able to help me shake the narrow mind that I had for so long---Its wondrous to see what theyve done and are doing....absolutely amazing.. The performance at the end moved me to tears Thanks A La

I bought my TV used around 10 years ago for 40 dollars --It does the job fine but has none of these techie gizmo's like Tivo or dvr--thankfully I can change the channels which is about as far as i go... or care to go... what can I say? --Im way behind :) I finally did see the dribbler to third though (only once-but maybe you dvr tivo guys can check it for me)--- ---It looked to me, in my one view, that you have got to let that ball roll foul which is where it seemed to be going.. Of course in a high pressure situation like that--thats a LOT of patience to ask for.. even though its couldve been theright play as he wasnt going to have any kind of straight forward play at the plate... Maybe Im wrong--I'll let you NASA folks re-check it

*&^% --I fell asleep before the end of the game and the sports shows all have college football (?) highlights. Games that end at 2AM especially World Series games are just plain wrong---- Good for Jamie --for some perspective --when he started pitching professionally, Wierwille was still alive---and half the Rays werent even born..He was 'old' when he pitched for the Red Sox a dozen years ago...I love it when guys like him prove 'conventional wisdom' wrong. Looks like the Rays reverted to being the DevilRays for a crucial half inning-- Im of the opinion that Upton could be one of those guys who wins 3-4 MVPs in his career. Hopefully I'll get to see todays game--what time does that start--midnight?

The people that monitor these things have been pulling them out of the LA Press--The most recent I saw was Billingsleyseemingly calling out Martin for his gamecalling after his NLCS loss There is also talk that his offensive downtick over the second half of '07 and through '08 that seems (or so it is rumoured) to have the FO concerned ( I think its overwork myself but thats awhole other story--) As far as ML prospects Lowrie is ready and proven in a half season as an infielder, There are boatload of(well at least 3) top rated pitchers,( Masterson just pitched well in the playoffs, will probably be a starter next year and be under control at short money for another 5 years) If Blake doesnt come back you'd need a third basemen which means either Lowell or Youkilis. Julio Lugo is available. You already have your fill of outfielders although Ellsbury or Crisp would also be available--If the Dodgers do offer Manny a huge $$ contract, I assume that they'll be looking to save in other places. The Red Sox having lost Manny and Schilling and others will dump about $40mil right off the top and have money to spend.... Im sure if the Dodgers are considering it, that some combination could at least get close to working for both teams ...but like I said, Im not privy to any actual inside workings of either team, only know what a few writers have said and am filling up my time. Hey--games on! started afer 10.00pm --this is gonna be along night

That Martin is maybe available has been in the NY Post And a day or so later in Sports Illustrated Whether any of it is true at this point, there is really no way of knowing as trade rumors have about 2% of ever being realized, but there are rumors (about 10 articles worth) that have surfaced over the last few months of a less than ideal relationship between Martin and the Dodgers front office...I really dont know if they would deal him or not---but given the year Varitek just had, it gives the Sox fan sites and the Boston papers something to talk about to fill the void now that the Sox season has ended-- Right now there is a lot of conjecture about possibilities especially since the Dodgers seem to have an affinity for ex-sox.. 2 top ML ready prospects? a prospect and a veteran? 2 prospects and aveteran? take a contract off their hands (Jones or Pierre?) in the deal? They'd be a lot of ways to play it --maybe it will never happen---but its tempting to think about during these long nights of no games.. Speaking of which---I see there delaying in Philly-- its cold rainy windy and generally miserable here tonight lets hope they get this game in..

Thanks for the headsup DWBH!! Ive always been a huge fan of streetmusicians wherever I go. Unfortunately the "Playing For Change" documentary site is (understandably overwhelmed right now Im watching the Moyers Show right now HERE. You are absolutely right, it is moving and inspiring! Thanks!

They'd be perfect between cartoons or on the sci-fi channel

I'll be thinking that Lester's going to stay put :) Some of the untouchables of last winter ...Ellsbury, Buchholz, ..and maybe atop prospect like Bowden could probably be had if the deal were right. There could be alot of shuffling this winter -- Julio Lugo, Mike Lowell, Coco Crisp---who really knows at this point? I'd love to have Martin ---or Teagarden Im in no rush but I do expect some "creative movement" from Theo to switch things around. With Papi aging and hurt a lot of the time and Manny gone--Texiera is also looking better and better. My christmas list is getting mighty full already--Tex, Martin, Peavy ...or maybe Sheets and Im just getting started I better go blackmail Santa

I was never hurt that bad for it to be a concern of mine.. The things that did happen which seemed devasting at the time have been greatly dissipated by the passage of time. To me most of my way experience is as relevant to who I am today as is a grade school fight would be....that is--it could trigger a memory but probably not the feeling, except in passing. I like to think that any anger, bitterness,or negative emotional baggage was worked out and left behind long ago. ...even with that it would probably still depend on the persons approach whether I decided to interact with them or not. If they were 'reasonably Ok" I may stay on the periphery for awhile before getting involved , or if they were still being a "pr*ck" I may either avoid them or go medival on their a$$ :biglaugh: dunno until it happens

DO NOT even mention such things ROCK-- ===please---I DONT want to relive that ever again--

Good for Michael Saltalamacchia. Teagarden, Martin--I dont know, but as tough a decision its going to be (to let the cap'n go)-catching is a situation that has to be dealt with in these parts --its one position where there is no real keeper coming up through the system and as much as love Varitek and would like to keep him on board forever, offensively he fell way off the cliff this year...maybe give him 1 year then move him into a coaching position but I know dam well Boras is going to ask for 3 or 4-so unfortunately he's probably going--
-
Thats what Im afraid of--rumors are circulating here of putting together a deal for Martin that may include Jones, not because the Sox need Jones but to eat his salary for the Dodgers which would open up some $$ for Manny... Its a longshot but Martin is tempting--if something like that sweetens the pot for the Dodgers I'd be for it
-
:) Im sure that happens--but in the World Series it seems a little much--- I just read where the Dodgers offered Manny somewhere between $55-60mil for 2 years--which should make Hiway happy.. But its a whole new game when the offseason begins, I have to wonder if the Dodgers offered that to placate the fans. Although that would be huge money to turn down, knowing Scott Boras I sincerely doubt that he'd do anything less than 3/75m or 4/100m plus of course the blood of some fresh newborns and virgins. Good Luck though--Id rather have him in that league than play against him in the ALEast

Runner on first, lefty pitcher goes well into his motion, runner goes, at last possible moment pitcher realizes that the runner is going and throws pickoff to first---To me the pitcher was well on his way homeward with his motion and his extending foot landed well toward home so that he had to throw almost at a 90 degree angle from his body to go to first. I suppose that there is no real way to adequately describe it verbally--but thats fairly close. Its a moot point now--I was just curious as I am not that familiar with the rule. I missed last nights game ( the social life calls..) but did see the replay of the botched strike call ( ). maybe its just because its October and it stands out more but all through the playoffs the umping has seemed to be inconsistant and questionable. I know that same guy who made the strike signal and then called a ball has had a rough Oct. with at least 4 or 5 completely bizarre moments like that. Anyway as I said I missed last nights game---Im still thinking Rays in 5 or 6 --although Id love to see a 7th game

Two from one of my favorite guitarists -Harvey Reid The Scotland Suite I love the tapping effect It implies and almost sounds like bagpipes to me-- and yes thats a partial capo he plays with... or if you prefer something a little less 'epic' and more lighthearted and fun Fluf's Vacation

The scouting reports was the first thing that I thought about on the Upton throw--I was in the boxes about 6 weeks ago and saw him unleash a throw home that reminded me of Reggie Smith --when Victorino was going my only thought was --uh oh--that aint gonna happen--3rd out Werth lead off the next inning with a double Scouting reports can mean a lot in a series like this---Id also like to hear Lifted check in and get his opinion on the balk/pickoff of Pena..It looked balky to me, but Im not that clear on those rules... I hope they get their new stadium too (renderings here), So far we havent seen it, but when balls start bouncing off the catwalks, or going up and never coming down its disruptive to the game.. I dont know if they'll pull it off or not, even a month or two ago they were drawing just 15-20K to some games---hopefully that will change now...

Good game by Hamels-Madson-Lidge. Kept Upton, Peña, and Longoria hitless, especially good since Iwamura was 3-4. But the Phillies wasted too many chances against Kazmir, and I don't expect Shields or Garza to give them that many.
-
Who's watchin? I cant believe that Victorino just challenged Uptons arm, I suppose being ahead 2 nothing in the first game it may have been a chance to gamble, but Upton has a flaame throwing rocket for an arm and that looper wasnt that deep. The Phils would have still had the bases loaded with a potential big inning but that was snuffed... We'll see if it matters--It probably wont ---but that was a mistake n my little book

Congrats to Hobbs -that was an 'outstanding' year! Good for him--- Im pickin Tampa in 5, although Im hoping it goes 6 to hear the reaction to the Obama game delay. (at least it wont be Steve Harvey again...) Hamels may win Game 1, Kazmir hasnt been looking that good but from the little Ive seen of the Phils, Tampa just seems like all around better club Either Upton or Longoria, even if they are 75% of what they have been in the ALDS and ALCS, will be MVP Useless fact of the day: If TB wins, the Phillies will have lost in the World Series 5 times, once to each team in the AL East. '15 Sox '50 NYY '83 O's '93 BJs ..meanwhile the candidates choose the WS--

Lets hope so I dont know exactly how the collection of damages works in a case like this but hopefully Mr Snyder will get every last nickel that the church or any of them have....every single last box of cheerios--and put them out of business and all out on the street---They rightly 'earned' it. Im tired of hearing about these whackos

Where does F*cktard Fred get his money? These people never seem to be doing anything but traveling around the country being completely obnoxious and holding signs which all costs some $$ Who backs him and what do they do? Surely they must have some businesses we can go boycott

For anyone who has ever been divorced, (or been through TWI for that matter ) (the video is a little rough--but imo worth iwading through til the end... :) )

Here you go Bow--- is this it?-- I think that you didnt copy the whole link right--

Im allright--this wasnt one of those kick in the gut losses when you outplayed someone and lost--they were outplayed by a better team....it was a good year and I feel alright....----but damn being an M's fan has to be rough---The people of the NW deserve better-hopefully it will fall in line for them someday soon--so they can experience some of the fun and enthusiasm that goes along with this...... Right now my heart is with the guy that you know somewhere somehow got drunk in Vegas last winter and for a few laughs laid down some cash on Tampa to win it all when the odds were about 1000-1 You know he's out there somewhere...
