  1. O yea I remember the "unconditional love" as long as you meet all their conditions. <_< Its sort of an emotional manipulation and blackmail game that can be difficult to break from--- For me it was a difficult hump to get over when I left leaving the people that I knew and thought that I was close with--- a lot of things had to be redefined in my mind, including the understanding of what a friend is, which took some time. You did well picking up the fallacies and redflags, your instincts appear very sound. Keep that part of you alive and active and dont ever be manipulated into things that dont pass the sniff test. IMO that will be your strongest ally
  2. so far your read's good on that one I emailed the author of the article, Drew Zahn of WND and invited him here to see if he wants to clear up the uncertainties in the story or not-- any bets on that One? :)
  3. Yea Im Ok with that ---charge 8K each if you can get away with it. It sounds a little steep to me for a weekend seminar(the last one I took --a glass blowing class ---was about half of that) but have at it. I have no interest in Koine Greek myself . If you were offering classes in Orthodox Icon painting, medival manuscript illumination, old truck repairs for the complete imbecile, or labyrinth construction techniques I'd check it out further and consider it, but Greek and word studies doesnt hold much relevance personally for me anymore O--and hooray for the Jesuits
  4. well--no--I never "soundly condemned" them because they were christian----I dont care if they are christian, muslim, selling tupperware, smoking crack or watching football. It makes no neverminds to me what people do unless they are a nuisance or hazard to their neighbors. Something made the county take notice and require a zoning variance for their activities. Why shouldnt they be required to obey the laws that everyone else has to live by? I help to organize meetings several times a year for fundraisers and activities to raise money or do other things for the homeless shelter in my town that I am involved with. We keep it a top priority to obey all the laws and keep on a very good footing with the entire community as a matter of not only principle but practicality. Its not even really a question, its what we do. I have had to acquire all sorts of licenses for various activities that we've done to keep it honorable and on the up and up to anyone. Whats the big deal? Why would the concept of being good law abiding neighbors and respectful members of the community be so foreign to some 'christian' groups?
  5. Im wary of anything that comes out of World Net Daily. The cost for a Major Use Permit in San Diego according to their website is $240 not "tens of thousands" I expect anyone who is running a business in their home that has 15 people at a time showing up has to have the same type of permit plus most likely liability insurance. I have to have a permit and insurance for my business. Why should they think that they are exempt? They're actually getting off easy if they dont have to have insurance to protect their "paying customers" Its a public safety issue. Is their plumbing in the house? Is it safe for 15 people to be there in event of fire? is the parking going to cause a traffic hazard? Is the neighborhood zoned for "major use"? What was the neighbors beef that made the commissioners show up? Who gets to pay and cleanup their mess if a situation arises? The taxpayers? Licensing is a normal part of any business anywhere in the country
  6. Who???

I was working on some stained glass windows in South Carolina last week when I read this inscription plate at the bottom of the window. It reads: To The Glory of God, His Wife and Daughter. ?????? I wonder if some stained glasser in about 1870 was either stoned and forgot what he was writing or if he was pulling some sort of joke... Im partial because its my field, but I had a good laugh when I saw it
  9. gees excie there was no time for that...we had to move the word! I didnt even see my family but a few time the whole time I was in TWI,--- "helping people" meant making sure you signed them up for PFAL no matter what their circumstances  Im with Groucho--I didnt receive any training in "The Word" at all --ever-- in the way ministry. I didnt get to really do any of those things excie mentioned above until I was far far away
  10. I wasnt in the corps. I was a WOW, twig coordinator, adv class grad and all that. I received very little 'training' at all...I took all the classes but other than to misguidedly think that I knew a lot more than I actually did I didnt learn many practical things other than a few mental gymnastic exercises while remaining unchristian in a lot of my behaviour .... Over a decade I memorized a whole ton of verses, learned my way around the bible, and also how to hop and skip around to make a point while almost always negating the context......but as far as training --- no --nada--

  14. What was that great quote by Casey? it was something like "I never knew there were so many ways to lose-we find a new one every night" something like that
  15. In the Pieta the face is exquiste but notice that Mary is covered in richly draped clothing. The clothing is incredibly well done but it really does not distinguish the feminine form---other than the face we really would have no way of knowing if she was feminine or masculine. On the otherhand Christ (the male) is again down to the barest stitch of clothing
  16. I almost never forget about my winkie ooo--you mean OK I got it now---you right btw--does anyone have a lefthanded screwdriver? Post away BF
  17. Dont go there--I really dont know what to think :) You'd think with either Youkilis or Bay hitting behind him who are both having great years it wouldnt matter all that much...of course neither is Manny but I think there is more to the picture than that....I can see --everyone can see --that his bat speed has slowed way down. No more shift, no more long strokes to right. If anything popflies to left that might scrape the wall in Fenway for doubles. I was putting it up to aging slowing the reflexes just a hair, plus the injuries to his wrist and knees over the last few years...the power generation just isnt there. The sometimes girlfriend brought up the S word yesterday. Steroids. As much as I hate to admit it, I have to wonder if its apossibility. He doesnt look as big as he was a few years ago, and the power and quickness are gone. When testing started in earnest a few years back is when his production started to slide. Of course I have no way of knowing, and being someone that I respect and care for for what he has done for the franchise I hate to even bring it up....I hope that Im dead wrong but Im not going to deny the possibility either. Maybe he'll snap out of it--If not Im glad I got to see one of the finest 5 year displays (03-07)of clutch that Ive ever heard of......

    Wanna buy a truck?

I have a friend who loves old toys--I'll email him and let him know....Mine, like most childrens, got either destroyed while I was playing with them or misplaced a long long time ago---When i happen to see some toy somewhere in an antique store or flea market that I had when I was say 5 or so, I remember it and it brings back a flood of forgotten memories. I suppose that is one reason that they are so valuable --few of them made it through time--even less made it through in good shape but they are still evocative of childhood and time gone by----at least for me---Good Luck --Make a fortune
  20. My advice would be to say what you want to say on the thread in question...speak your mind...be yourself...You can disagree all you want with anyone without being offensive about it,..most likely no one will be offended unless you start namecalling or being a jerk----and....no matter what you have to say people have said worse around here. We've all lived. Go post or if you feel like it start a new thread on the subject..... The only other important rule that you must know is that for every thread you start you must send me a signed blank check, one also to rumrunner and also eat your sunday breakfast at waysiders OK? :) feel free to post

    Song of the moment

Prompted by the Sistine Chapel thread: Skip James-- Michelangelo was hardly alone in his assessment of women The Doors Cliff Richard
  22. Ive noticed the Rangers on the highlights the last few days, except instead of it being for scoring a billion runs its for their defense--which must be a welcome change in Rangerville...They'll always score runs but if the defense stays tight and there is no huge holes in the pitching staff they could be there at the end. Its along summer comin up but dont make any plans for October--You just may want to be around
  23. Yes Ive added a few things for humor sake at times or other things that strike mw in the moment but Ive never added a complete homoerotic scene where the female is the devil. B eing the artist that he was imo this is being more than cutesie. This is a statement. If their werent breasts and long hair on Eve she would barely be recognizable as a woman. There is no idealization of the feminine form. Michelangelo was too good with forms for that to be a mistake. Though Eve is a woman, he seem to wish her into being a man--or at least very manly--His idea of paradise seems to be a gay romp in the garden which wasnt screwed up until that old devil--the woman--showed up. I dont know--good pickup dooj ...I love the moon---now thats something I'd do
  24. I was gonna say something like that--He looks like one Judge who's court I would never ever want to have to be in... I dont know much about--I should read up--he looks like he'd hang you for jaywalking if he could....
  25. I did see the replay of that--- the catcher was alittle asleep at the switch. been working my tail off so I havent seen a game in awhile but I went to Kennesaw Mountain yesterday which is sort of baseballish..In that it reminded me of Judge Landis..
