  1. The announcers were great! I was tuned in as Joey Chestnut defended his world title against the onslaught of Teveru Kobayashi, setting a new world record in a match that wasnt decided until the last seconds It was humorous but disgusting,---and very.....american------a good thing for he fourth Where exactly does someone put 68 hotdogs and buns? How do they force in two at a time and just jam em down like that over and over ?? :o I dont think I could eat 68 hot dogs in 2 or 3 years, never mind 10 minutes... All Hail the champ!
  2. I never went to college or had any higher education. (Y'all may be able to tell by my posts-- ). I served an apprenticeship in my trade under one man for several years which to me was worth at least as much. It has served me very well. Odd thing, at the time I thought I was supposed to be in the corps Im really glad now that they wouldnt have me
  3. Yea excuse my breach of etiquette--I too welcome you tagalong Its a good bunch here--hang around and say what you think.... I shouldve been I was in Maryland the day of the 11-10 game, I thought about going, it was pouring rain and I wasnt feeling all that well so I caught it on the tube at a restaurant/bar instead . Odd thing was that all the locals were Phillies fans even though I was about 35 miles from Baltimore. There are alot of teams packed in a short span around those parts. (Phils, Nats, O's) A highlight of that day was driving down the New Jersey Turnpike--I stopped at a few rest areas to stretch and getting out I was surrounded by ALL Red Sox fans heading down to Baltimore--At every stop literally Hundreds of em all decked out in game gear.. I didnt expect it being a few hundred miles from either place -- ...I hope your all tuned in to THE sporting event of the day thats about to start---- Nathans Hot Dog Eating Contest from Coney Island on ESPN---My moneys on Kobayashi :P

  7. Do you really think so? or do you think that that is what they want us to think? I dont know a whole ton of people but Ive yet to run into anyone anywhere, let alone a "vast majority" who wants to see this media blitz continue... yeah yeah he did alot for the african americam community and had unique skills and is an easy story for the media to suck people in because he was weird--I get it already..build a shrine or something --but I really dont know anybody who actually cares all that much--I think its just an easy story for the media to turn their brains off for awhile
  8. ..said the joker to the thief... theres too much confusion.. cant get no relief. politicians drink my wine plowmen dig my earth.. ...hmm ...hmm .hmm ..hmm...... ....ALL ALONG THE WATCHTOWER Bob Dylan (I knew I'd get to it eventually) Im new around this here thread now whats do I do?
  9. Lets hope so.as far as the way they are running the thing - --Isnt one definitions of insanity doing the same thing and expecting different results? Good idea  do the exact same thing again I wonder if V2P2 will write "The Old Stagnant Church" "Live and Learn" apparently isnt one of his "great abilities". Its barely off the ground and in the distance I can almost hear that plane in a nosedive to crash and burn. I hope not too many get hurt--and are smart enough to stay off in the first place...
  10. A radio guy intimidates the President of The United States? Really? since when? did I miss something? Please do tell I listened to Limbaugh for about 4 or 5 months in the early 90's. It took me about that long to realize that his schtick was basically the exact same thing day after day after day. There was a predictable pattern that he found that worked that he repeated and repeated. It was similar to Howard Stern, who also uses the same patterns over and over just throws different mumbo jumbo in to fill in the gaps. Limbaugh like Stern wasnt making any viable points just hitting various emotional chords with his listeners to get them to listen to garner ratings. When I took a step back it wasnt sensible stuff just mostly rantings After awhile it got old to me when i realized I was listening to an "entertainer" and not and actual journalist....I hear him every once in awhile and its still the same old song and dance as 15 years ago so I turn it off...To a certain extent they all do it..Lou Dobbs, Glenn Beck, Keith Olbermann..they all have a patterned "schtick" that either lures you in or it doesnt. Limbaugh is intensely grating to me, To me it would be like listening to Emimen all the time. Some people do but its definitely not for me. I've got the pattern down and it does nothing for me. After awhile it all sounds exactly the same. No matter how loud any of them roar it all sounds the same, Ive heard it 100,000 times before ...I dont want to hear it again--figure out something new, or actually say something worth listening to and maybe I'll listen--but robably not I already have enough to do.... Good luck to him I hope that he conquers his drug addiction -but all he really does with his time is make more noise-its not like he is actually doing anything....and there is already more than enough noise around as it is. i really dont need anymore
  11. A Rolling Stone Gathers No Moss = Stroller on Go, Amasses Nothing or if you prefer something Shakespearian: To be or not to be: that is the question, whether tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune. = In one of the Bard's best-thought-of tragedies, our insistent hero, Hamlet, queries on two fronts about how life turns rotten.
  12. I was thinking along the same lines. Way theology was built around denying and not being aware of your own needs to agreat extent, or pushing them way way way on the back burner. There was little care for the individual or much thought or planning for the future at all that I ever experienced. They could eat the young, energetic, overly idealistic and naive but by the time people reach middle age other real needs crowd in. Some unfortunately may die, others will just leave. The Way is not built to grow old in. Almost any church in the country has a high percentage of old people in it mostly because they have treated people well for their entire lives. Most people will only allow themselves to be used for so long before they change things--Whether by eaarly deah or by leaving there never has been and never will be alot of old people in TWI
  13. i have to say that my hallucinations and opening my own doors of perception was much more interesting to me than shutting them all down, sitting in an audience and listening to someone else's hallucinations. IMO mine were much more fascinating than snow on gaspumps or casting out devils....it just took awhile to realize it
  14. A drunk walks into a fancy restaurant, and he is stopped by the maitre'd. "I'm sorry, sir, but you must have a necktie to come in here." The drunk says ok and goes out to his car. He takes some jumper cables out of his trunk and wraps them around his neck, and staggers back inside. The maitre'd says, "Ok, but don't start anything."

From Steve Martins new banjo Album: By accident I'll be seeing him this weekend as Garrison Keillor and Prairie Home Companion comes to town and he is a guest <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
  16. Good catch Ham...I personally also like the "corner unit in the Indusrieal part of the city" bit too yup --when I think "Manifested Glory"--Im thinkin "Industrial Park" allrighty
  17. Hard to tell from that video--It could be 1209--when are we gonna have a good witch burning? or a stoning? If that's the best they can do its no wonder that the church has been a repository for sex crimes ----- a day or two doesnt ever seem to go by without some "revelation' of a well known pastor picking up gay prostitutes, or some unwelcome sexual activity in a church somewhere never mind the stuff that is actually criminal What goes around comes around Why dont these people just deal with sexuality like adults?
  18. My Pop was good about it. He knew right from the gitgo that it was a cult and told me so. He didnt get angry or upset about it, just told me that I should leave which of course made me indignant and made me even more "committed" (blehh-- I was sort of a wild kid so his thinking may have been that at least it was better than the other phases that I had been through and I would eventually figure it out. He even showed up to the ROA when I finished my WoW year, not to support TWI but to be a supportive Dad to ME. He never waivered and he was of course right. He was kind, gentle and truthful during the whole episode. When I left, there were no "I told you so's" or anything but support. It took me way too long to realize that he was a whole lot wiser than I gave him credit for when I was young. I wish that I had learned it earlier in life--but better late than never...He is 92 now, whenever I need to know something, or get my head back on straight he is now the first one I call
  19. Someone posted recently that " the moon is in the 7th house and Jupiter is aligned with Mars"--It really is...the 60's song said that would be when "peace will guide the planets"--maybe it will be when the Cubs win the world series as well. The Red Sox won directly under a blood red moon eclipsing in 04...Young men did see visions and old men dreamed dreams...and just about everyone else was full of new wine It took me a few years to tone things down around here but I try to play well with others. I really do...even if it doesnt always come off that way..Ive learned to respect them ( well I always have even though for years and years they made me angry over and over and over....now--not so much....)and to bite my tongue and attempt to be civil. Like Geisha said its like some sort of cultural genetic force somehow planted in most New Englanders DNA to be completely batsh!t crazy about the RS which also includes in the package an atitude toward our neighbors to the south. () Speak freely ----I'll try to keep my Tourettes like syndrome under control for y'all Meanwhile--we have John Smoltz making his Sox debut tonight. Im going to be watching close to see what he has....Im not looking for him to blow the league away, but a few key victories from him the rest of the way sure would be sweet and could make a big difference. Welcome tag
  20. One of my favorite Jack Nicholson scenes: <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCOxcDcZ69o&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCOxcDcZ69o&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCOxcDcZ69o&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

    Song of the moment

I think I knew that guy, or someone who prayed just like him during my Way years. He tried going on like that at a big meeting where everyone was hungry , when someone yelled from the back of the room "Let My People Go!" .... I was walking thegrounds at Tanglewoodfor a lunch break the other day and they were practicing this song. The style is generally not my thing, but it was absolutely breathtaking especially in the setting and given that I was the only one on the grounds listening... of course musically Im very easy to please..I really like too.Unfortunately I wasnt the only one at that performance -durnit :P

    What a Crock!!!

Gees dave--You're gonna blame Obama for this? Just becuase its not quite yet doesnt mean its his fault does it? My sometimes employees are casual based on our agreements with one another. Personally Id give the guy off as much time as he wanted or needed if he just had a baby and I'd probably do what I could for him financially especially if I liked him and he was a good worker and wasnt some dbag. IMO you dont need laws to be agood neighbor or boss just a little common sense...which apparently isnt so 'common' anymore. It pays off in the long run to be on the generous side of the coin I admit I dont know all the circumstances here..Id still check with the State to see if he is protected against this type of thing That...and look for another job or start his own thing
  23. It seemed like huge leaps in the initial post to me as well..Im not following the reasoning--the dictates or the concerns either... To me--George had it right with his link Weve been over the "growth of Islam" "extremists", "voting blocks" about a thousand times here and there are people who worked on behalf of just about all the recent presidential candidates (when they werent engrossed with TWI that is )--Some people even have other interests and involvements(!) You might want to read around the site just a little bit first before you start jumping to conclusions about how narrow and small we all are
  24. Cambridge in the 60's, odd times indeed! I was talking to a neighbor of mine yesterday, who told me he played in the old Club 47 during the folk scare of the early 60's....He has his own niche claim to fame. Its not really famous but nearly everybody has probably seen what he does. He was working at a Pizza place in Colorado in the 60's, a touristy type place at a ski resort where people were always asking for directions. Being stoned most of the time he would draw elaborate maps on the wrapping paper that included houses, streets, businesses, lakes, streams, mountains--whatever captrured his imagination-- He got alittle carried away--sometimes coloring them in---but people really liked them. He moved around alot in those days and did it wherever he went. When he got married his wife had the brainstorm to sell advertising on them, print them up and distribute them as a business. That was sometime in the early 70's. They started selling posters, then went to folding maps and placemat type things Its something I took for granted but just about everywhere I gofor years I see them ---in visitors information places, hotels, restaurants.. every little town just about has them. He has built a nice little empire off of his little stoned doodlings and is coast to coast and throughout Europe now-- If you ever see one of those things--Thats John
