  1. Once in awhile--but not very often, maybe once every few years--After 20 years out the ones Ive run into seem to be either in the 1.) Gee's we were totally f'ed up-good to see you--glad we got out, what are you doing now? group 2.) I have no friends , I used to know you 25 years ago so let me be clingy and annoying to you now 3.) What are you doing with "The Word" now clan. Im not much on reminiscing, the people who want to relive the "good old days" really make me want to run at full speed as soon as I see an opening
  2. Thanks--I look forward to that.. I dont know whats gotten in to me either---as far as not saying much this year---It could be the big work schedule and the deadline Im facing -It has been unusually busy on this end---I know thats the big one for me ----although some of us here (me mostly) on GS are just in a posting slump. I'll break out soon hopefully For the amount of time over the years weve talked about baseball as a metaphor for life. I was surprised the otherday at the Sotomayer hearings that every other senator seemed to be talking about "umping" and "calling balls and strikes" and using baseball talk as a method to decide whether or not to confirm a justice to the Supreme Court. I was going to post something about that but got too lazy and couldnt find the right vid. Whether we post about it or not--baseball is still about a lot of things. Sotomayer saved baseball in 94 --she gets my vote. I'll be awaiting your report!

....and...for the most part we even get along! if that can happen, and it does --theological differences ought to be easy. Being able to hear different viewpoints and respect them and the person that they come from even if you totally disagree is one of the things I really like about GS. Red Sox and Yankee fans getting along? In my lifetime? World Peace even seems possible...
  4. Its all in the presentation...you are the WOGFODAT arent you? Give em a verse or two, a bowl of rice krispies then set em to work--- the best part is its not even FREE Labor. As far as I can tell they PAY YOU to do it!..then give you a percentage of their income for eternity.... For all those spertchal seekers out there--I charge less if anyone wants to do my dirty worklearn from me, come on and clean up my riverfront, chop my wood , fix my trucks, learn the word
  5. I never knew that..... did Martindale rake him over the coals for his lack of believing like he did for everyone else who ever got in an accident? :P
  6. I stayed for awhile at first thinking ( ...well I thought that I was thinking) that I could be part of the solution. It was basic delusional way thinking on my part. I left a few years later when my whole state got kicked out in the late 80's. Of course I also had no idea that the corruption and problems were so deep or sinister until many years later when I had an opportunity to step further back and weigh it all objectively from an outsiders view, or I would have left immediately
  7. It was the fear in the heart of the life of that man...
  8. uh...Someone who read "3 or 4 theological works a week" before bringing their 3000 volumes to the city dump would certainly have read and known Teresa of Avila. I dont read all that much and arent particularly spiritual but even Ive read some of her writings...

Well there are a few ways-- You could continue to rant and fume about how horrible everyone here is, then insult and attack the other posters--That's one way. You could continue along those lines and eventually you'll be asked to leave and probably have your account deleted or if that way is not working fast enough for you You could write to one of the moderators or Pawtucket the owner and they'll do it for you Im pretty sure. Happy Trails!

    Happy Birthday Geo

In all these years on GS I dont think that I have posted once on a birthday thread but I'll use this occasion to say that I have always enjoyed your posts....( and I dont throw that around lightly) Thanks Happy Birthday Joji Aa
  12. :o Lingo?? -------------------- I dunno--- why would anyone bother? are people really that bored? But I suppose you could be right--- I can believe almost anyone anywhere but when anyone speaks in the name of "truth" the details always seem to be at least a little bit sketchy and suspect. I hope he tells us why young Victor is such a "great man of God" --enough of us have asked already-- Im expecting something Gandhi like, a dash of St. Patrick with a little Mother Theresa mixed in. After the big buildup anything less than ending world hunger and brokering a lasting peace in the Mideast and I'll be sorely disapointed. I can hardly wait for 'the truth' to be shown....
  13. I take it that you dont go out to many churches. Being that my profession involves working in churches I go to about 50 or more a year and I havent heard that phrase at any of them in about 18 years-- and when I did hear it last, back in 1991, it that was a grand total of exactly once. I dont know where you are going to hear these things but it is not commonplace at all, and certainly not nearly as common as youd lead others to believe. Whats with all the church hate anyway ? Is John 13:35 not in your bible? did someone rip it out or twist it around somehow I knew that they used to because they sent me their mailers (advertisements) for abunch of years--after checking their site--well yup. lookee, lookee they still do
  14. Thanks for comin back Caleb--I was a WOW in '82 myself, in Tampa, perhaps I know or knew your parents You already have aton of questions to sift through so I wont put a ton more on That sounds like good honest work--I hope that they are paying you well..(they better be for that kind of labor) Is that the SOWERS farm by any chance?
  15. Honestly no-they are not for me. I dont understand the jubilation at a free Bible teaching Is that something new, remarkable and revolutionary somewhere? I can walk into just about any church in the world or turn on the TV in just about any city or poke around the internet and hear bible teachings for free anytime of the day or night. If you like them ---fine--but its not like they are doing anything new, or that they shouldnt be doing anyway. Is it? The weird part was that they were ever charging in the first place
  16. Who's next? Pawtucket? you're up I hope that I didnt kill this thread
  17. Thats the one----Thanks Geisha--good find! I remember a different announcer than in that clip when I saw it live..-- Sean McDonough was doing the play by play when I originally saw it--He milked it for all it was worth and made it seem a little more hilarious than whatever those two guys were talking about---Still--- vintage Manny
  18. Are you sure it was really a dream? Sounds just like Msnny to me.. Reminds me (except the clown suit part) of when Manny robbed Miguel Cairo with a great catch a few years back--Cairo got all the way around the bases and near to the dugout before he realized he was out. He looked up stunned to Manny in left who just smiled then pointed at him..It was a classic--I'll see if I can dig up the video
  19. Gee--Its a tough and impatient crowd around here tonight--Im sort of hoping S'09 sticks around for at least a little while and we get to hear what an insider, a 'believer", has to say before a brawl breaks out and we never get any info from him again....do me a favor and give him a little bit of a break and let him speak a bit before the mauling commences -- will ya? Whether I agree or dont-I do want to hear what he has to say. If nothing else it will add to the knowledge pool Y'all have to admit that it was sort of gutsy in away for him to come here in the first place considering that we here are probably just as stereotyped to him as he is to us... Now....to S09 ..Speak up lad....Im trying to be respectful to you as you asked--I hope that you can respect that....--I have some honest questions back on page one---start there
  20. welcome---I'll bite How old are you? What is your background? What sort of "christian journey" did you have BEFORE entering the sowers program? What is your profession or current job? family? Are they involved in the Sowers program ? are they supportive? Can you define "great man of God" in understandable clear and realistic terms? What is his background, accomplishments, degrees, etc that entitles him to be that title? What changes have occurred to you since your enrollment in the program? Now that you have graduated what are you doing and what have you initiated? and----just curious.....you dont have to answer this one if you dont want--but c'mon now--it was a curious form of introduction.. Why the anger and threat? Whats that all about?
  21. nor does the drunken use of explosives--but it seems to be a tradition for some reason
