  1. Thats our Eck alright- It almost brought atear to my eye to see Jerry Remy back in the booth for an inning last night and hear about his fight with cancer then debilitating depression. You could hear it in his voice and his candidness that it has been a tough battle. I'm hoping that his openness helps out others who are in the same fight. The standing O for him was very touching....I look forward to having him back..If NESN knows what they are doing they'd let him come in at his own pace and keep all three of them together (Eck, Remy and Don Orsillo) for awhile. Sox won but to me the return of Remdawg was by far the highlight of the evening Welcome Home
  2. Is he still working at Home Depot? I have to go through Toledo next week I'll have him run over to aisle 10 and get me a tube of caulking

    Song of the moment

    Well-This probably isnt any better but I am intrigued by it and give this guy an "A" for originality--besides Im a big fan of street musicians, and unfortunately for everyone else Im addicted to banjo (sorry y'all) From Phillip Roebuck's Site (im expecting dmiller to reprove me for what this guy does to a banjo :) Little Bo-Peep <object width="400" height="300"><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="movie" value="http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=2103061&server=vimeo.com&show_title=1&show_byline=1&show_portrait=0&color=&fullscreen=1" /><embed src="http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=2103061&server=vimeo.com&show_title=1&show_byline=1&show_portrait=0&color=&fullscreen=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" width="400" height="300"></embed></object><p><a href="http://vimeo.com/2103061">Little Bo Peep</a> from <a href="http://vimeo.com/user856358">Christopher Holmes</a> on <a href="http://vimeo.com">Vimeo</a>.</p> Heres another interesting piece by Cathy Moore-a turkish song played on clawhammer banjo in 9/4 time <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>Ok--I'll quit (for now) --commence with the banjo jokes
  4. well what else are you going to do? I spent 10 or so years in and have been at GS for --well forever--She still has a lot of questions--and what else do I know this well? not too much. I was just glad that she somehow wandered into my place and also just happened to bring up that story---maybe, just maybe I can do something to aid or comfort her--I know that I cant bring back her daughter so whatever she may get from me will be minimal compared to what she has already endured..If I can give something to her I am glad to do it
  5. Not all of them---an interesting thing just now happened to me which I am still processing. Y'all know that I live in a very small town in the exact middle of nowhere so I never see exwayfers--A benefactor who has given homes and substantial amounts of money to the homeless shelter where I volunteer wanted to come to my stained glass shop for apiece of glass this morning...I normally dont like people coming in while I am working but made an exception for her. She didnt know me from Adam or I her, I was getting her the glass and thanking her for her donations to the community when she sort of broke down and told me the horror tale of why she donates so much to help others... Seems her daughter was in The Way International for 9 years, a corps grad who was booted under mysterious circumstances, never recovered, descended into alcoholism and took her own life. ---Needless to say we had alot to talk about We spoke for about 90 minutes--about a lot of things--I am sure we will be getting together again sometime soon. Thats about the only exwayfer story I have run into in many years.....figures it would be tragic
  6. Its been my experience, and I dont know exactly why, that Brooklyn Dodger fans and NY Giants fans for the most part became Mets fans...some of the oldimers were as passionate dislikers of the Yankees as Red Sox fans ever thought of being...which probably has something to do with the Yanks long string in the 50's of championships. Ive talked to quite a few of them..When I lived for a brief spell in Brooklyn in the early 80's there was still a lot of people very PO'ed because 'dem bums' moved. The Mets colors were supposedly a mixture of Dodger Blue and Giants Orange. Its an interesting phenomena how whatever team gets in your blood stays there. I dont know how that works exactly but it would make an interesting study...Team loyalty often outlasts marriages, careers, and just about anything else that you would think would supposedly be more important....
  7. True But I think it is over over here. Dodgers vs Phils rematch in the NLCS maybe the stRangers will be the AL outlier-Tom and those fans have earned some excitement. of course my prdictions are always worth what you pay for them
  8. I posted this about a week or so ago Looks like Mama won that go round :) Heres Niilo Webber Davis-MacDowall on day 2 of his journey. he's a big boy with big hands--Im thinking thirdbaseman
  9. Im not complaining or carrying around any anger about it--just answering the question. I think 1.5 mil is a fairly accurate assessment. To me its just $--I could be better off but I fine and arent cryin about it..... Im certainly glad that I didnt have to "pay" what others paid --with life and limb or serious abuse.. Ham is right. It is/was an extremely shortsighted organization. I gave alot of what I had but due to their system when I was in, I never had much. If they had encouraged personal development or had even a minute amount of graciousness ( yea right) people may have stuck around for much longer or until their retirement years when they'd have some real money to give to an organization
  10. after I posted I looked online and couldnt believe it was 0-0 in the thirteenth--I "watched" the play by play on line at my shop and was getting ready to roll home to watch what looked like an amazing game but didnt want to leave what was happening on the comp. It ended just as I hopped in the truck to watch it at home--my error --my fault--I should know better than to move by now in a game like that even if I cant see it
  11. it had to be taken--although Billy Traber showed potential--- I couldnt bear to watch tonight--I optted to stay at work----Im still at work at 11:30 If its a loss tonight--stick a fork in em they're done---if Beckett was Beckett and someone else somehow caught fire besides Pedey and Youk---well-----we'll see--maybe there's hope yet...
  12. Im not a card carrying dues paid up christian by any means, but thats a good illustration of what matters and is "christian" to me. To me I would much rather see what people actually do, than tell me what they "believe" or worse yet argue with me about some bible verse. I'll take a Billy as a neighbor over a bible thumper who wants to push his "values" down my throat any day of the week. Dont tell me--show me To me that speaks much louder and makes more of an impact on me than every last bible teaching or sermon that I have ever heard. Thankfully I have known alot of 'Billy's' in my life--
  13. classes, advances, ROA's, gifts and abundant sharing for 10+ years--$$Alot$ poor financial decisions based on way thinking---$ a ton $ therapy and other things to clear my mind----$ a truckload $ loss of income and decades in delay of professional development--- $ a freakin sh!tload $ Plus Im probably forgetting a bunch of things.... 1.5 mil is probably not that far off
  14. Wake and Dice K are both DL'ed--although DiceK is supposedly throwing---I havent heard anything about Wakefield The Smoltz experiment was over for me a month or so ago--Smoltz games are the ones that I cant bear to watch..nothing makes me think "Oh NO!" more than knowing its Smoltz day--its time for him to retire while his dignity is intact
  15. I cant say as Im not from there Herbiejuan did post this employment map yesterday on one of the decaffeinated threads LINK It is certainly not the worst area as far as unemployment goes. Dunno what to say--I went WOW to I didnt even know where I was going and survived. Good Luck
  16. The clergyman that he refused to meet with was also an "idiot" He had never even met or talked to him but knew that he "had forgotten more than that boy will ever know"
  17. True enough but in the same breath he basically told us that we were dead, without spirit, and completely disconnected from God until he and his class came along. He set himself up as the sole interpreter of spiritual things as God had directly spoken to him while us measly little peons (according to him and his warped theology)were completely dead and useless... It was part of the power structure, promo (Greatest revelation since the 1st centtury) and set up. No matter who you got to be he was "the boss" and you were still a "babe" If one bought into any of TWI, that was part of the package--ie that we were incapable of discerning or understanding spiritual matters--without following HIS principles classes and leadership which God had revealed to HIM..... In practice in way brain world (those who bought into it) it was a sign of arrogance and probably spirit influence or possession to question Wierwille, at least by the time that I got in (1979). Where I was there was a very prevalent presence of peer pressure as well to conform to revering "Dr." and his "teachings"...I got yelled at more than once for daring to question the MOGFODAT....Ultimately he set up the system to function just that way He said a lot of things, but there were many things surrounding them, that in a practical sense nullified them..... It certainly wasnt like many denominations where you can openly disagree with the leaders and elders and still be completely welcomed
  18. That may be the case ----but I am also of the opinion that anyone who adhered strictly to way doctrine would of necessity become any of these things because of the complete insanity of the doctrines. In a manner of speaking it was what they were striving for, hoping for and building To me the place was/is a place to learn severe social dysfunction...and if one isnt already then to become a control freak, narcissist or sociopath....as "our father in the word" ( ) and Rev. Okie put forth the example for us.... Im sure they were watching somewhere but it was also the natural result of what they taught and exampled
  19. I'd like to know how one is selected as one of the "worst families". If its criminal activity, child abuse, or something similar then its along the same lines as those who must wear an ankle bracelet, report in, or take daily drug tests all of which happen here. Incarcerated criminals are already under 24 hour CCTV surveillance here, families of addicts and criminals and others "at risk" in some cases are monitored very closely. There is really not enough info in the article, nor am I familiar enough with intricacies of English law to formulate an opinion. One thing I do know is that tragically a small percentage of people are just to be anything but very bad parents. There are no really good answers as to what should be done about that...leave them alone and watch a potential generational tragedy unfold, or intervene and traumatize a whole bunch of people.... I dont know I really dont know
  20. I was just checking stats and found that Daniel Bard faced 46 batters in July, struckout 23, with 0 walks---I dont know if that is some sort of record (23 out of 46???--50% K rate with no walks??)--but its pretty darn good in my book... settling in for Lester against Garza tonight AC on, Corona chilled and just because one more of Amalie for you Bolsh
  21. Maybe--although they obviously missed the 'Render unto Caesar' part though.... .I dont get the literalists at all--even the ones that I respect--but this guy was just a deluded criminal----I personally think it takes a certain type of insanity to jump that far into literalism and that the insanity will probably come out in other ways as well-- you are probably right
  22. I suppose its a Ginger and Maryann argument--- Amalie is the Maryann of the two except smarter and betterer :) Heres Heidi and Amalie together
  23. Cool you got over there---- since you're in the neighborhood --its only another 8 hours up to Fenway :) It was good to see Victor get a standing O at Camden At times I feel for the O's fans who not only get overaken by Sox fans but Yanks fans as well....They get upset about it... A few years ago they had a "Take Back The Stadium Day" at Camden Yards in a game against the Sox....only to be greeted with a giant sign that said "Fenway South Welcomes O's Fans" Glad you go to see Heidi--shes OK, but Im still ticked at her for her fling with Varitek that sent him into the pooper last year----My personal tastes run more to Amalie Benjamin-she could have the entire pre and post game shows as far as Im concerned and I'd be a very happy camper--whether she said anything or she didnt

    Grad Sues College

hahahhhahaahahahhahaahahahahahahaha welcome to reality kid.----- Reality is the best education you'll ever get almost nobody that I know is employed in the field that they studied. Is this something new?
  25. Martinez is looking good today --so far he is 5 for 6 and could have been 6 for 6 if it wasnt for a good catch by Nick Markakis. Odd game at 17-10 in the 8th...He sets up different behind the plate than Varitek--I dont know if thats why the Sox gave up about a hundred walks today or not (probably not) --The plus side in his first time catching he got to see most of the pitching staff in game situations. It all worked out better than I could have imagined. The last two years I was ready to trade a young arm to Tom's stRangers for Taylor Teagarden--Instead Theo gave up a good young arm for an all-star, which I suppose is why Im not the GM. I liked Justin Masterson a lot-but I think its a plus trade for both teams..I wish him well in Cleveland. Meanwhile this could be a very important week in the AL East as the contenders (Sox, Yanks, Rays)all play each other
