  1. I think you should ..Its guys like him who make baseball--baseball Heres a VIDEO i found of him If you can find the link to the article I'd like to read it He sounds like a blast
  2. That Jim Thome acquisition is sort of baffling --I was wondering if it had something to do with Manny since Manny and Thome came up together in Cleveland and maybe Colletti was hiring Thome as a designated Manny motivator--Who knows? :P Im pretty sure that even though he already has had 50 games off that its just about time for Mannys annual 2-3 week vacation to Florida ...um..I mean...stint on the 15 day DL for some mysterious "hamstring injury". I think he gets bored this time of year or something The Dodgers have a big enough lead, give him a few weeks off, then a week or so back to get his timing and he'll be right on the top of his game when the playoffs start I dont know if Torre will go for it but it usually worked here
  3. Nah-he RAN away..SPRINTED for the exits....So much for 'boldly standing', "fearless living" and all the other crap that they pretend to talk about  ...It started warming up just a little but never had a chance to get heated or even interesting or confrontational He bailed on his word to answer questions pure and simple--either that or The Great V2P2 gave him a talking to and he is hiding like whipped pup
  4. I think I actually said that after the '04 series heroics and no doubt he would get some votes...Although he likes to run at the mouth, he does have some fairly cogent ideas from time to time that could also attract some in the conservative/religious branch. Tough to tell, Mass has had liberal senators forever, the governorship runs back and forth. I think generally he wont get enough out of his playing days to make it happen although the state GOP might put him up there for name recognition. Tough to tell at this point.. Didnt Jim Bunning just retire? Whats the senate without a few token former athletes?
  5. It is hard to believe this year seemed like a few blinks to me--although Im getting a little more locked in and ready to go now :) Good Luck to your son--What exactly is the USSSA?- ....Ive had a good chance to chuckle the last few days seeing some classic Manny fielding moments in LA , although Hiways perspective might be different I still enjoy them Other news that we should have known was going to happen: LINK
  6. Aside from the people here and a relatively small handful scattered around, how many people have even heard of TWI? They are not exactly NASA or Microsoft or even J.C. Penney I dont know exactly how this works..I have been in many churches that have the same name as unaffiliated churches hundreds of miles away or sometimes even in the same town! ...Christ Church, Saint(pick any name)Church etc...
  7. If they go down to the politics forum they might occasionally even get spit in their direction
  8. I'd like to know he is OK too He might be on double secret probation
  9. Not really that much for me, even though it had been drummed into me over and over and then again in the offshoot that I was with briefly after TWI---After awhile it became apparent to me that they were very screwed up organizations, I didnt believe in what they were doing and couldnt support them anymore. I still gave ( still do) ..I came to the conclusion that I would give my money and time to who I wanted to give it to, someone who I believed in and wanted to support or otherwise felt motivated to give to by my own standards. If that p*ssed off God-well screw him then--I was willing to go down with ship if I had to and it didnt bother me in the least. It actually was incredibly freeing to put my money where I wanted to put it without bowing to all the spiritual blackmail

    Song of the moment

Great stuff from Slim Gaillard Geo! I was unfamiliar with him and was cruising through some of the other youtube clips after you posted and found this one-- <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_c42dACYIs&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_c42dACYIs&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_c42dACYIs&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> TRUE STORY--my parents have always claimed that my very first words were "putty-putty" from some song called Cement Mixer...Thats all I ever knew -I never explored it or knew anything of it until just now --which is agreat way to start my day- :) They probably would have preferred I say "mama"- but its good to know that I came in singin with Slim

    Song of the moment

I never was all that enamored by but I worked at the church in the song a few days ago so I had to give it a listen.... The Maritime Sailors Cathedral is actually Mariners Church. Its quite a place, If you are ever in Detroit its worth a visit (plus you'll get to see my window ). The bell in the song has a very long and storied history of several hundred years and was consecrated to only ring on the death of a mariner. Thankfully it did not ring while I was there.
  12. crap That one took the wind out of my sails....Its hard to know whats going through anyones head when something like that happens---Drugs? Crack? Cocaine? a combination of incredibly dysfunctional lives, mob mentality and totally fried brains? I dont know--I just dont know---its way beyond me--and probably the subject of someones masters thesis in criminal thought. Its sick, Im much too stunned to give a cogent answer on the punishment phase. My initial reaction was to skin them alive or toss them over Niagara Falls but that was as I said an initial reaction...I'd have to settle down and think about it for awhile before I could give a serious answer
  13. O Caleb Its been almost two months-- come up with any answers yet?
  14. I was wondering about that myself-----Kazmir had been a Sox-killer for a long time and even though he has declined some and is injury prone he still is seemingly a good pitcher for the stretch...Why the Rays dumped him and no one with a lesser record than the Angels (Rangers, Red Sox etc) picked hm up on the waiver deal before the LAAA's makes me think that there is some issue with him that no one is mentioning. I wouldnt stop keeping an eye on Tampa Bay (or anyone at all) just yet--we still have a mont and anything can still happen
  15. They're lookin good but I'll be content with the wildcard--In October all teams are 0-0 when the second season begins----Things are looking good here-the pitching is shaping up--even Paul Byrd who a month ago was working the driveup window at Dairy Queen ( or something like that...) had a great performance beating Roy Halladay today---Heading into September things are looking good... Congratulations to the kids from Chula Vista California---LLWS Champions 2009 another great game for them--their double play with the bases loaded and a tie game in the fifth was just plain stellar baseball...Bravo!
  16. I'll be tuned in.. I gotta wonder how Texas Tom is faring these days...The 'insurmountable' Angels lead has been dwindling a bit over the last week and the Angels appear to have the much tougher September schedule--Plus there'll be 6 head to head games Tex vs LAAAAAAA coming up...If Hamilton does what he is capable of and their young pitching holds up the stRangers have a very legitimate shot at the division--- I'm warming up for the stretch run which is always fun--things are feeling like they are finally starting to jell around here a little--even Remy is back-which makes it all feel like home again
  17. Did you mention the army of slaves? I was never close to Wierwille but the branch and limb coordinators I was around always seemed to need someone to rake their yard, do their laundry, clean their house, polish their car, watch their children, refinish their furniture or build an addition to their house in the guise of "fellowship". Apparently any honest work tainted their purity
  18. Me too I have been on the road and wanted to stop and watch the championship this weekend in Wiliamsport but my employee was in too much of a rush to get home -- but all the LL games have been great as they are nearly every year..Those teams have been playing some great baseball The team from California is amazing.....world championship today at 3 --dont miss it!
  19. I think there has been some massive lobotomization of people in general but especially those who are in "customer service". I had such a streak of run ins with the walking brain dead zombies a month or so back----everyone that I talked to on the phone and everyone who walked into my shop... that I put this "No Morons" sign on my workshop door It hasnt really stopped them but it made me feel a little better
  20. Well--Im not a churchgoer, particularly spiritual or even a professing christian of any sort but every once in a while I'll have some sort of "urge" for afew weeks or months. I have picked up those Daily Bread Magazines from time to time and followed them for a little while and found them to be a good and often times inspirational part of my day. Ive had a few online things as well from time to time. The one that I enjoyed the most was from an episcopalian website HERE which was basically the daily lectionary, prayers, hymns and the Anglican order of service for that day--It is very easy to read--usually 10 or 15 minutes --and sometimes it was very rich

    Grow a Pair

I was told that one time in the early 90's after I had alreaady left for afew years and called the Limb Leader of Florida, one Alan LiXht. He was one very angry dude! I was more amused than annoyed...Personally I think it is projection as anyone in a leadership position has essentially been 'castrated' and is incapable of making any decisions or independant thoughts and acts, or doing anything than what they are told. They brought it up--they are the ones with the castration issues
  22. The way they teach the same things over and over and over for decades and decades there should be a category "NEVER learning....etc." I dont know how any of those people can stand being walked through the same simplistic crap 12 trillion times
  23. Im not a farmer, I do know that in my area most farms of that size (wasnt it about 100 acres or so ?) or bigger almost always keep a woodlot. Whether for building material, fuel or what not Im not exactly sure but it is not an uncommon practice.

    Headlines

I couldnt believe that I just read this headline. I didnt know what to do with it--so it lands here- Chihuahua With Earrings Stolen At Gay Bar Police Seek Man With Britney Spears Tattoo someone had some fun writing that one If you see any other out there that are odd or tickle you feel free to add your own
  25. I think that he may have thought he was a prophet.. and a may have attempted to mechanically squeeze his life into Wierwille's definition but that didnt make him anything but deluded. There may be a real gift somewhere of a Prophet someplace ---but LCM would be under the "what it is not" or "not even close" or "You have got to be kidding me" section. Whoever siad anti-prophet or anti-pastor was close
