  1. Well said, I wholeheartedly agree especially with your last statement. Some paths do lead to a greater sense of freedom than others but there are also many benefits to the obligations that you mentioned. IMO everyone needs to find the balance that works for them and make thoughtful and reflective decisions BEFORE they find themselves in over their head. In my book that is a very uncomfortable place to be and a cause for all sorts of misery. In my experience its difficult to extricate yourself from thigs once you are in them as well. Ive always tended toward living simply with obligations that are things that I want to do, are doable and not overwhelming but all too often it still gets complex. In an old shop that I worked in there was a sign above the door that read "Constant Vigilance is the Price of Liberty". Its a little dramatic but true--you have to constantly stay on your toes or any freedom you do have can be wisked away in no time by demands placed on you that sometimes-ofttimes dont really need to be there
  2. I didnt have time to go home to the family this year. I have too much traveling has to be done in a short time. I went to the annual community "Thanksgiving Dinner that cant be beat" at Arlo Guthries place here in town from Alices Restaurant fame. Local chefs, good ones too donate their time so it was pretty amazing. All the normal traditional stuff plus all sorts of fancy woop de doo things where they all tried to outdo each other. The music was great too. Way too much food--- Someone needs to roll me around in a wheelbarrow today

    Happy Thanksgiving Its a tradition I have to post this: <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>I'll be having Thanksgiving dinner(that cant be beat) with Arlo and Family and a bunch of other good people at Alices today
  5. Thats quite a grand and assumption. Arrogant too. My job brings me to churches all over the country and I am amazed every trip at the things that 'normal people' in the church do. Many, many people flourish in a church setting. Although I have to admit that Ive yet to hear anyone in the churches that I go to whine as loud or as long as John Lynn can and does,(thats gotta be a superspecial gift of whining to go on that long) or hear anyone talk or base their lives on dreams of nose spiders(is that the Gift of Incredible UltraStupidity that they manifest?)
  6. Um.. media?-- No I saw it on FoxNews :) I wouldnt want to confuse the two :P
  7. Today on FoxNews Apparently all 193% of Republicans support Palin, Romney and Huckabee Math is Liberal
  8. I dont think that is cynical at all -just realistic--It never matters where the "the" goes if you havent got the brains to figure out that your not supposed to rape the teen girls in your care. No matter what Weirwilles pseudo scholarship was, what he 'taught' and modeled was a lifestyle of self indulgence and extreme narcissism. He could mess around with commas, greek, administrations etc, and tickle people all day long with his charisma but in the most fundamental points, which even a child can see, he "wrongly divided the word". Excruciatingly so.

    Your Fridge

I have that same wilted stalk of celery and ketchup as well as some other condiments. Im pretty sure I have some shrimp and other things in the freezer, and probably plates of leftovers semi covered in the regular fridge along with a bunch of eggs Ive been away from home for two weeks so i cant really remember. Im sure the bread I left on top of the fridge is a lovely shade of green by now. I'll check in when I get home later
  11. Dang I'd give em a hundred toys then forage through every thrift shop and pawn shop for more given that opportunity. I suppose I'd be lucky to hit aline drive as far as second these days..but it would still be a thrill to get in the box. Thats a great promotion--they did something like that at Fenway a few years back to raise money for the RS Foundation except it cost about $1200.00- It was 1 at bat, you got a jersey with your name on it, a photo, your n ame and pic on the big telescreen, It was a little steep for me.... Sorry you missed it Im in Houston at the moment and got to driveby Minute Maid Park yetserday which looks impressive
  12. No perhaps about it, that is the lifestyle that was modelled and taught --even if it was not always overt it was always implied Like "father", like "son"

    Song of the moment

The sometimes girlfriend is trying to name her new ragdoll kitten I woke up at 2:15 this morning with this song in my head. I cant get thius song out of my head now Ragmop <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
  14. I don't particularly like it either but then again you are always free not to listen to it, read it or take it to heart. There are annoyances and weirdos almost everywhere you go but nobody is forcing anyone to take the control freaks seriously much less ruminate on it. In one way a little opposition keeps this place active and moving. Eventually the condescending and arrogant either relax and start to converse or leave when no one takes their crap or listens to them anymore It is also used in the Politics forum by those whose party is out of power who always insist that it is being taken away :)
  15. I think mine was the same thing -Chapter one of the blue book--It was almost a requirement to "teach" that. It wasnt really a teaching at all imo, the guy who witnessed to me was pressuring me so I basically memorized the chapter and the main points and spewed it out to quiet him down and get him off my back. He thought it was "great" I was just glad it was over and I didnt puke---any enjoyable part for me was a few years later when I had bought into it more and felt more comfortable. I dont mind public speaking but it as to be something I believe in or it is a nightmare
  16. Please share! :) I'll put on some popcorn. I'd like to see their version of christianity and the "love" they spread close up... btw-I am going to Mississippi manana-anybody want I should drop by to say hi? I'll wear my GS T-Shirt

  19. They'll milk it for as long as they can -- and when thats finally gone there will be off shoots and offshoots of offshoots not unlike the Mormons who still have about a hundred offshoots directly linking them to their fraud charismatic MOG It wont last as long as them IMO but it will probably be longer than 10 years. Its still a pretty good cash cow for the chosen few who get to perpetuate the scam -whether its under TWI or some other name.

    Friday the Thirteenth

Yesterday was a very long day. A lot of things to get together and coordinate for a business trip next week..then a wake for a friend who died too young-- :( I was born on friday the 13th so Ive never thought of it as a bad day, although yesterday was tough.
  21. I can only speak for myself and honestly, yes I do at times forget, I have been out for over twenty years and been coming to greasespot/waydale for 10 (is it 10 years already?) I know that I had to work through some things--a lot of things-- when I first got here. A lot of the new info took a lot of time to digest--Ive had time and changed my way of thinking vastly since the first days I was here. I'll try to be a little more patient if someone comes here is still sorting things out and mentions wanting to "move the word" or lauds Wierwille because the entire decrepitness of the whole organization hasnt dawned on them yet. It can be a long long road through here for some You're right though ex--I'll take it easy I try to take it easy on the new folks--but when some newbies start 'teaching the word' or pronouncing us all evil as has happened a number of times --well my patience gets really tried. I'll work on that for you. welcome back by the way

    Where are you from?

I dont know the methodology on this page or how accurate it is but HERE is a site that has the greasespot demographics
  23. Bad Chas... -of course that is the one that will live on--and rightly so I agree with WW about VP being THE MOG and that he had a direct revelatory pipeline to God that far superceded everyones elses since the first century. In my day (late 70's and 80's) TWI was replete with fantastical, almost comic book superhero type stories and anecdotes of VP things that "really happened" that were spread fairly regularly--especially to the new who were questioning their involvement I havent got time right now, but things that went way beyond snow on the gaspumps
  24. Its a folk tale in Europe as well, illustrated by Christopher Marlowe's "Faust", The German doctor that sold his soul to Mephistopheles for knowledge ..(the greatest secret in the world??.. :o )and nubile young women. It was repackaged in Germany by many people ---Geothe, Franz Liszt, and Gustav Mahler
