1. I dunno --sometimes it does for me, sometimes it doesnt.---but I do recall how it was like magic for me when I was 11----I dreamt, ate and slept baseball at that age --knew everyones batting stance, tics, and throwing motions. It was a new world for me then--somewhere locked in there is still a little bit of the magic--most times I have to dust myself off o get aglimpse of it--but it is still in there somewhere for all its flaws im still thankful we have baseball and those memories of endless summer days full of possibilities
2. Im away for the holidays this year (Im in Mississippi)and have had the pleasure of watching the MLB channel wich I dont get at home. I hope y'all are watching its been a real treat. Maybe everyone else gets it all the time but yesterday was great having the entire Ken Burns PBS baseball series as a backdrop to Christmas. Today is an amazing mass of great games...So fra Larsens perfect game, now its the 65 World Series (firts one that I remmber watching btw) . Two Two great pitching performances by Drysdale and Koufax--in black and white with Vin Scully announcing-- which took me right back in time....great stuff! Merry Christmas baseball fans
3. Speaking of abominations I just had an incredibly tasty steamed Maine Lobster. yummmmmmmmmmmmm If I ever have to choose between heaven and lobster --Im definitely going with the lobster

IF........

Im not Catholic, but I dont believe Way teachings that God opens up a direct pipeline to whoever is the topdog either. Of course most of the time I sort of like it when strange women drag me to the floor--so i might be disqualified

Song of the moment

oops--Im a day or so late on this one 10 Bonus holiday points to anyone who can clap along with the oddly timed clapping
6. Interesting point. I have to wonder if outlawing homosexuality was a method to help build the tribes numbers, in the same way that the Mormons encouraged plural marriage as "Gods Will" , TWI near demanded that you marry within the household, or the Catholics edicts against birth control
7. Thank you Which is also why churches (well--some churches anyway) are designed the way that they are ---they are reflections of our own, or at least the builders, interiors
8. True enough---But ironically what works do they actually do? Do they build schools, hospitals or homes like some denominations? Support the arts like churches have for centuries? Run homeless shelters? Feed the hungry? Take care of orphans? Anything at all? Anything? Do they do anything at all beside sell their stuff and tell people that they need to buy their stuff? Thats all I ever hear from them.. WTF kind of "work" is that???

Christmas Music

I'm not really a christmas guy. I dont particularly like the overcommercialization, the hecticness or the tunes that bombard you every year starting around Thanksgiving. So over and over I stay away but it always seems that eventually one song strikes me every year that breaks through and gets me "in the spirit", of the season. Its different every year. always unexpected and impossible to predict what it will be. Once it happens it never really works again. Its the unexpectedness of it that makes it work for me One year it was an acoustic guitar version of O Holy Night by Ed Gerhardt. One year it was a song by folk singer Anais Mitchell called Christmas in The East Bank, another year a choral piece, another year a song a childrens school pageant. Last year I was surprised by this little exchange in a movie (Joyeux Noel) about the WWI 1914 Christmas Eve Truce,a true story that started with singing carols across the battlelines <param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c5iDz8Ul_AQ&hl=en_US&fs=1&"> I dont know what it will be this year, but I'll be waiting to hear if anything really moves me for some reason or other----something usually does I just dont know what yet
10. I have heard some of the self proclaimed "in the know" ( )corps question that, based on the multiple wives of the old testament. Whether it was a doctrine floated around the inside or made up by these few that I knew I can't say--but multiple "wives" was spoken about in some circles of wayworld on a hush hush basis. I just finished reading an excellent book by Jon Krakauer "Under The Banner Of Heaven" which examines the seamy underside of Mormonism.--though it deals primarily with the multiple wives offshoots the parallels to many things in wayworld were evident and striking throughout the book. Through whatever narcisisstic and twisted brain and theology Wierwille may have had he may have thought of it something along those lines of marriage or spiritual union or something-- but whatever he delusionally thought doesnt change the fact that he was a serial abuser

Celebrity News

I blame the 24 hour news stations---there just is not enough to talk about 24 hours a day without having to dip lower and lower into the barrel-- Well there is but it would be way too much work for them to actually get informed on issues of meaning and so they take the easy way

Christmas Cards

I fluctuate, some years I send them some years I dont. The rest of my family sends them every year but most of my friends are more or less like me---if they're into it that year they will but then again maybe not. Maybe it is a generational thing, my Dad who is 92 send and recieves aton every year and he not only makes it a yearly activity but keeps them and rereads them once in awhile tthough the year
15. RESTLESS FAREWELL Bob Dylan "Oh a false clock tries to tick out my time To disgrace, distract, and bother me. And the dirt of gossip blows into my face, And the dust of rumors covers me. But if the arrow is straight And the point is slick, It can pierce through dust no matter how thick. So I'll make my stand And remain as I am And bid farewell and not give a damn."

18. wisest thing Ive read in the entire thread. ..walk not with a foolish man...Proverbs its just 'common sense' see ya
19. Not really, Ive seenthem but fantasy was never something that appealed to me. In the sense its an architypical story (Good vs. Evil, Light vs Dark, The birth of the hero, individuation etc etc. Ican appreciate it. It told the same old universal tale that has been told for thousands of years updated a little but thematically plagiarized. Not bad just not my thing. Id just as soon read Dante if I want an epic journey tale What do you mean by assign targets? can you be a little less cryptic and a little more precise
20. Im not sure what all the allusions are about... "Please to meet you hope you guess my name" Thats the Rolling Stones from Sympathy For The Devil--is that supposed to be us?, or just some interesting sounding phrase. As well as you thinking Vader is here. ( Does that make you the pure Luke?) I dont know if its a backhanded slap introduction or what your saying--Its all sort of cryptic to me so far..I also have no idea why you would think this place is "dangerous". Its words on an internet page for gosh sakes. Either way, or whatever way you come --welcome---hang around awhile. Growth and truth are good things although I'd be pretty sure they mean different things to me than they do to you, these days I guage them more within myself than what anyone tells me that is supposed to mean. Ive been down too many roads, alot of them dead ends, including my time in TWI. Ive found my way through the wilderness Ok--My days of needing guides except of my own choosing are gone. but as I said---welcome
21. This is silly but an interesting comment on history and historians. It especially reminds me of The Ways attempts to reconstruct "the original text" <param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="425" height="344">
22. .................................. I dont exactly know what you mean by "truth". Its defined a lot different for me now than when I was in the cult. I no longer think that "truth" is some simplistic belief system that you can tie a nice little bow around and pretend that you own it. There are alot of true things that have been posted here over the years that were covered and hidden when I was in TWI. Looking back I was never really searching for truth in TWI, although I really thought I was, it was more like I was really hiding from it. I dont pretend to have any specific special deep understanding of anything cosmic if thats what you mean but I do feel like I have a much better bearing on whats real and whats half cocked bullsh!t. Does that count?

the way i feel

Good Luck Roy--I'll reiterate what was said above-Social Security is not singling you out. There are millions of people who get disability and they check up on all of them every few years to weed out the people who dont need it anymore. This is their normal procedure for everyone. Most psychiatrists, psychologists and counsellors are pretty good at what they do. If you have met one or two or more that you havent really clicked with, then I would suggest to keep "shopping" for a new one until you find one that you like - a good one that you trust can be very very valuable for your mentalhealth and well being. I also understand meds can be a drag. I know alot of people that are either bipolar or schizophrenic and they too sometimes go off them from time to time.I have to say most of the time its really not a good idea at all, it usually hurts them and they suffer bad setbacks. You know yourself better than I do but I'd be very careful about going off your meds. It can cause a lot more problems than just staying on them even though you dont feel like it. as you say often -God Bless you my dear friend--we are all pulling for you

Song of the moment

I generally dont post pieces like this but I was amazed at the beauty of this composition: Arvo Part--TeDeum Edit: Wikipedia Page
25. I could never figure that out either. IMO Its an intro to Waythink and the mental scrambling process--it doesnt really mean anything at all just sounds sorta like it should mean something good.. or in this case a pseudo pithy phrase out of my a$$
