On The other hand, you tell me what you think of VP Wierwille and I'll tell you how far you'll go with TWI

Interesting point--and true--I know a handful of people with PhD's and they never really care how I address them-- some people Ive known for years have PhD's that I never even knew about until years into our friendships. Some people I call "Dr." or "Rev" from time to time out of respect but its never demanded, in fact 9 times out of 10 I'll get a "call me Ed" if I start throwing their titles into the mix.. Outside TWI Ive only had one guy, a client, insist I call him Dr., he was pretty pompous about it. I later found out that it was an honorary degree.

Its frightening that any of those people you mentioned were ever ordained at all. It is apparent it was never about 'service' but always about THEM. It was more the norm than the exception in my experience with TWI. TWI was almost always about ego gratification behind the superficial and very thin veneer of pseudospirituality.

I had a big old tree come down on my shop which is annoying but not the end of the world--others have it much worse---our water is subsiding and I never lost power. Anyone heard from Excie? I saw on CNN where her town got evacuated...

Tonights teaching: A new series- "70 years of screwing up a good thing-How we were wrong-The dark underbelly of TWI" They have plenty of new material there

"Always Stand when a Man of God enters the room" Not only is it one of the most egocentric things I have ever heard but I also had that yelled at me once when some frustrated dipsh!t area coordinator burst in while I was sitting on a toilet

The Phil's are my main concern.. Im a Red Sox fan... whether they finish first or second they are looking good being 7.5 up in the wild card--with some of the injured due back before playoff time. A tough draw in the American League will be whoever has to face Detroit in the first round..Justin Verlander will be pitching twice for them in a five game series and has had a dominant year...that will be a tough round no matter who gets them.. The sox have done well against Texas and the Yanks, so as always during the playoffs it will be who "jells" and is on top of their game at the time. I like the Sox chances in the AL but unless catastrophe strikes Philadelphia such as Halliday and Lee both going on the DL, or there is some sort of divine intervention which occasionally does seem to happen every once in awhile in baseball, I cant see anyone beating Philly. They are just too strong all the way around. If it does end up being the Red Sox/Phillies--I'll not only be praying for divine intervention on behalf of the sox but probably have the Philly voodoo dolls out as well :) On the plus side who would have ever thought 15-20-30 years ago that perennial losers and jokes of their leagues like the Sox and Phillies would both enter golden periods at the same time?

Yowza--I knew it was a huge cash cow, but I had no idea the figures were that large. If you take into account that a lot of that money came from extremely poor people struggling for basic neccessities it becomes disgusting-

Expecting kindness, or service of any kind from TWI?? :biglaugh: Dont make me choke :) They came with their handout---always I understand the difficulty for International people but it was no picnic for a lot of Americans either...the 'more than abundant life' in a lot of areas of the US consisted of a part time minimum wage job (which you were expected to ABS from) and a broken down car. Id scrimp and save all year to come up with 3 or $400 so I could hand it all over at the ROA  Id still like to know what they pulled in annually at the Crock, if DWHB or anyone has any figures

Will there Be Speaking in Puns and other mangulations of the spirit?

Does anyone know how much money they made off of those things? One of the last ones I went to was in about 86, by then the tickets were $40,they claimed there were about 20,000 there that year--which is $800,000 or so just in admission fees, that doesnt include food sales, books, "ABS" and whatever else they grabbed from us. The land was free and the labor was all free. I know they rented the tents and equipment ($100K maybe???) but I think it may have been a huge cash cow during its peak

I dont know where it is written or the context but I can remember "Vengeance is mine, sayeth the Lord" which, not being the Lord, sounds to me like it is not my job to dole it out

I dont have a degree in anything. Ive read a lot and learned my trade well in an old fashioned apprenticeship system which serves me very well. I would have been financially way ahead of where I am now if it wasnt for a 20 year bump in the road, and I could have developed much better along some important lines if my focus wasnt distracted. Thankfully I never got too far away from my craft when various wayfers were urging me to quit and I was wasting years of my time.

You are probably not very likely to run into many people that have unless they are ex-way people or otherwise out on the far reaches of nutterville. Its a fringe belief that EW Bullinger mentioned very briefly in his book Figures of Speech. TWI picked it up as a method to gloss over and rearrange inconvenient sections of the Bible that did not agree with Way doctrine. I googled "Idiom of Permission" and every article that I found was written by a former Wayfer.

Something else that just crossed my mind is that when Stephen was in the act of being murdered his last words were You are going to get yours!, "Lay not this sin to their charge", echoing Jesus words of "Father forgive them" when He was being wrongfully executed. Paul had also been "consenting" unto Stephens death, and was "breathing out..."slaughter" against the disciples". A real vile SOB Shouldn't he have been tried for conspiracy to commit murder? Maybe...he should have been... but it would probably be a much different world we live in now if he had been convicted and executed at that point

For gathering wood???? seems a little harsh to me--I usually let off wood gatherers with a good old fashioned flogging and maybe just a little water boarding or perhaps some branding and fingernail removal but I know Im a softy, am probably off the word and should deal with things in a more biblical way.... <_< uggg... If I was an old testament law type of guy Im sure I would lend that a lot of credence but Im not a follower of Moses ( would that be a Mosian?) I cant think of any examples in the Gospels or throughout the NT where Jesus, the apostles or christians in general were clamoring for the death penalty or even discussed it. There is a whole heckuva a lot about forgiveness, grace, mercy, praying for your enemies etc however. First century christians were treated pretty poorly, much worse than someone gathering wood around them, did they ever seek to have any of their persecutors executed with the civil authorities?

There was quite a bit of capital punishment in the Bible--Jesus and Stephen come immediately to mind, as well as the woman taken in adultery who was about to be stoned---but there was a last minute stay of execution in that case. I suppose if someone were inclined they could extrapolate a good case for grace overriding old testament law in capital cases using that example I go through phases of whether I believe in it or not....mostly not... I know I dont find any sense of joy, relief, reconciliation or much of anything positive in anyones death, even criminals. As far as the financial question If money is the concern, Execution requires a near endless amount of expensive legalities, appeals and requirements that must be fulfilled before someone can be executed. Execution is actually far more expensive to taxpayers than life in prison by an average of near $500,000 I also think in one sense that life in prison without any hope of parole is more of a punishment than a quick and final end.

Dale Sides has written several books Sides stuff Paul Norcross has written four or five LINK Last I heard they were both saying they were apostles. Vince Finnegan has written a bunch of books but the link to his sight is currently down. Im on the cover of a book, does that count for something? :P

Im of Scotch-Irish ancestry so Ive picked up a few things out of general interest over the years. Tartans are almost like a form of heraldry, if you know how to 'read' them they almost all mean something or another. Although people these days use them lightly--many of them are for specific purposes or represent certain people My families clan has a specific set of colors and design that identify as a member of their clan, there are others for various purposes-I think there is some official registry somehwere online that you can probably google...... I have no idea what the relationship is now between the Irish and the Scots but Ive read some interesting books on the history of the subject with most of the focus on the time of my ancestors that came here (early 1700's) There apparently was a pretty good three way power struggle for a good long time between England, Ireland and Scotland with usually 2 of the 3 aligned against the other one. It switched back and forth who was with who. It didnt help that they were three sepearte religions: England-Anglican, Ireland-Catholic and Scotland -Presbyterian. I know my ancestors moved from Scotland to Ireland after England had warred with Ireland and then offered homesteading land in Ireland to poor Scots to provide a buffer to keep the Irish from regrouping against England. My ancestors stayed in Ireland about a generation, realized they were being used by the English and came to the new world. So ---in a word----Its complicated! and interesting too.

Yes I did...Kindergarten 1960, It was in one of those jars with the brush attached to the screw on cover. I liked it, it had an interesting smell and taste-- -Every once in awhile I swear I smell that paste smell and it brings the whole thing back No telling what was in it or what damage it did to me--maybe its why I joined a cult

Me too! I did a house cleanout one time and found a box about 8 inches by 8 inches tucked away, it was tied and obviously cared for. I opened it and found 5 blue metal squares with the letters "A", "B", "C", "F" and "G" enamelled on them. I had no idea what they were and because I was trying to finish the job almost tossed them out but since they were well taken care of, and the guy had saved other things of value I figured they had to be something and saved them. I took them around to some antique stores apparaisers etc and I eventually found out that they were THE very very first license plates in the State of Massachusetts (A,B,C,F,G)!!! I hunted down the guy who had D and E--He really really wanted them bad, we negotiated off and on for several years...sometimes I wanted to buy his, sometimes he wanted to buy mine...They are museum pieces and whoever had them would have the full set I eventually gave in and sold them to him for 13K when I needed the money. Not bad for an item that almost went in the dumpster. Yea thats fun when that happens!
