  1. I dont know how I missed this thread the first time around. I know that it took me several years out of TWI to open up to a real sense of creativity...even now nearly 25 years later it seems to be a constant challenge to find that place consistantly where real artistic inspiration happens. I dont blame TWI for that any longer, although it took me quite awhile to change my approach after being involved with them, but they certainly didnt help me to understand the creative process any. I am a working artist so I do know how to plug on and do the work which itself can sometimes bring the fire of inspiration into play. Sometimes but not always...The muses remain mysterious and dont carry a set schedule or pattern--at least in my world. After 30 years of working I still dont know the absolutely foolproof magic bullet. When lightening does strike --even if for only a moment I know that is worth completely exploring no matter what anyone (including myself) has to say about it. Thankfully Im not surrounded by TWI'ers or many other know it alls anymore...Creativity and listening to hear that still small voice of inspiration is hard enough for me already without them to upend and thwart the process

  3. It also took close to ten years to figure out how to do it....Lets hope it doesnt take BP that long.
  4. Celts/Lakers seems like the american way or something, Im not as big a basketball fan as I once was but I do go back to the days of John Havlicek and Bill Russell vs Elgin Baylor and Jerry West--The battles are aalways good...I have a Sox game next week and will be expecting 35,000 at Fenway chanting "Beat LA" Since you are a C's fan, I just may have to send you a Beat LA T-shirt and make you an honorary Boston Hooligan for a week or so :o :B)
  5. I think its the Celts Likewise--They're peaking at just the right time--darn, theyre playing good these days. Maybe we'll get a Celts/Lakers final and we can divert into that for a bit

    Memorial Day

From Friendship Cemetary, Columbus, Mississippi This is one of the few cemetaries to have both Confederate AND Union soldiers interred.. A few ladies in the town of Columbus caused quite a stir when they not only laid flowers on the graves of the confederate soldiers but also on the union soldiers... which was a very revolutionary act at the time. Poems and stories were printed nationally about this gracious act of reverence that began the healing of the nation from the scars of the Civil War. Other towns, cities and states started their own Decoration Day--many years later this became Memorial Day. Although this is a time to honor and remember all those who have given their lives, if you are ever in Mississippi, this is a place worth going to see. Thank you veterans
  9. Welcome Gen! Always room for a Cubs fan down here! ( or a little league fan, a stickball fan, a wiffleball fan or a Toledo Mudhens fan for that matter)...I like them all but Hiway is right, Im pretty parochial about the Red Sox and if they're doing good I generally post a lot more---add your two cents or twelve dollars about whatevers on your mind while you're here.. I'd be curious what baseball happenings go on in Ireland myself. ............................................................
  10. Ive been fighting off a bout of Lyme Disease.(I hate those gd $#%&%$ ticks) and been under the weather ...I'm starting to feel alot better -- a sweep of the Rays definitely helps!
  11. I think 08 was the first year of the "Rays", I dont know if it was pressure from fundamentalists or some other reason. You'd have no problem getting tickets thats for sure. Ive been watching the last few days --I find it a little hard to believe that the team with the best record in baseball struggles to draw 20,000 to a game. The Sox are warming up like the weather and all of a sudden its getting fun to watch them again...I'll take two 1 hitters in a week anytime... Go Celtics!

    Song of the moment

Play is the operative word for me...which is exactly what I do.. I play for my own fun, amusement and relaxation. Im certainly not 'trained' or probably even doing most things 'correctly' but I can connect series of chords and tones together that are interesting and pleasing to me I play around with anything that has strings or makes any kind of sound..I dont expect anyone else would take it seriously, for me that's not why I do it...like play of any sort anywhere it's just for fun. While Im here Happy Mothers Day to all the Mom's Nobody Loves Me But My Mother <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>Its Alright Ma <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efsDAhM5TJE&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efsDAhM5TJE&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efsDAhM5TJE&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

    Todays Local News

I like small town newspapers. Mine is a must read everyday. Sometimes serious, sometimes interesting sometimes quirky or sometimes just plain odd. I read things there almost everyday that I'd never find in a larger newspaper. Todays headline across the top of the local front page got my attention just a little more than usual... Car hits Jesus Christ -- seriously http://www.berkshireeagle.com/ci_15043594 :o Poor girl-I doubt she'll ever forget running down the Lord Jesus Christ in the road I'm wondering if I should go hire him and put him on the payroll or something for awhile.. ..that way if anyone ever asks me again if I know the Lord Jesus Christ.....I can honestly answer with an unequivocable yea --he was helping me out at work yesterday ... Anything strange/weird/wonderful happening in the papers in your neck of the woods?

    Song of the moment

Iowe a big thank you to Waysider...A few months back he posted someone playing a cigar box guitar....The whole idea and especially the sound blew me away. I just had to have one! Off and on for the last month Ive been building one in my spare moments as the mood strikes.... Its been fun figuring out what might work. I made it completely out of things I already had except for the tuning pegs which were 'donated' by a friend. It has 4 strings that I have been tuning to an open G. I have had the cigar box for years and years--I opted to cut F-holes in the side instead of cutting through the top which I liked-- I play it with a slide that I made by cutting off the top of a Heineken Bottle and a pick I carved out of Ipa wood.... Im very surprised at the resonance. To me it sounds great and is very easy to play.... Its been fun to make and is funner to play Thanks Waysider!
  18. ...there are unfortunately a few "family members" who insist on keeping the subject on life support(ABS) although there is no chance of revival or long term survival. They have been counselled many times that it would be prudent, wise and ethical to remove the plugs and let the diseased die in peace and move on with their own lives. Thousands have made this decision, however a few holdouts are currently delaying the inevitable by cruelly and selfishly keeping the dying corpse barely alive

    :eusa_clap: Great to hear! Its good to know that music is still alive on front porches and living couches everywhere-- This is my idea of fun--- :) <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
  21. I think you may have posted an article about him once, or maybe you told me about him and I looked him up...Those people are the unsung heroes of sports imo--that make the experience of being at a game so much more than watching it on TV--I have forgotten about a lot of details of games from way back, but I can still distinctly remember the calls (almost like songs) of some of the vendors from more than 40 years ago.. To me it keeps the ballpark experience alive...Fenway has a peanut guy who I once saw throw across the field, from on deck circle to on deck circle during a game I'll never forget that---and it never even made the boxscore. I think my favorite is the girl who carries beer on her head-- Whenever I see her, I invariably think to myself ....hmm.....a pretty woman....who works at the ballpark...and that carries beer on her head..... Could there ever be anything more perfect than this? No matter what BS is happening in the world--its hard not to smile at the ballpark
  22. I thought it may have been New York, New York but I wasnt sure...Although there are certain songs I dont mind hearing, but in general I agree that it is now used way way too much... There is a contemplative element to baseball I enjoy that I miss at some MLB games..The rhythms of the game to me make time seem to stretch out a little and leave time for conversation, ideas and reflection.. That can get drowned out if everything is in perpetual rah rah rah mode. I think most teams would do well to use music and announcements a little more judiciously.. I know I dont need to be pumped up by any music--- I thoroughly enjoy the sounds at the ballpark ---(hawkers selling, kids playing, people heckling (or cheering or laughing), the crack of the bat, ball hitting leather, the low din of the crowd that turns into a roar...a collective groan--a whole section being spontaneously wowwed by a peanutmans toss, the anticipation at a close play -etc. etc. etc. )--just as they are... The ballpark has its own 'music', that is more than enough to listen to and keep me very entertained---it doesnt really need all the enhancements imo
  23. There is a lot of music at Fenway as I suppose there is at all MLB Parks now--some I look forward too and like (When Papelbon leaves the bullpen to enter a game Wild Thing plays, He stops at the edge of the infield, is announced and plays as he warms up..It gets the blood and drama pumping---Other times things are overdone and annoying. I dont think every single batter needs or should have intro music.I do like the Sox 'anthem'. which is played right after Dirty Water and gives fans :) Im not sure if other teams have official anthems or not
  24. I dont remember it ever being played when I was young--back in those days it was always John Kiley at the organ. I think it started in the late 90's sometime, originally to honor some RedSox employee who had a new born daughter named Caroline, or so Ive heard...It was played intermittently for several years usually during winning streaks until '02 when the new owners came --- It has been played at every home game since then in the 8th. Its a staple now, as much as part of a game at Fenway as hotdogs and beer.... Most every night most of the crowd is into it--They usually play a few minutes and it starts to fade out as the inning starts but I have been at games on some exuberent nights where the start of the inning has been delayed because the crowd does not stop until THEY are done.. :) <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nUA_H_UV9uI&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nUA_H_UV9uI&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nUA_H_UV9uI&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> It can be fun but I prefer hearing "Dirty Water" which is played at the moment of the last out in win. When you hear you know that you're leaving the park in good mood. Its been playing after wins since at least the mid 90's <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>Its become part of the lingo around here..if a friend missed a game and asks , most of the time all I have to say is 'water' and they'll know it was a win. An exciting hardfought, well earned win is 'dirty $%#^%$ water' Thats all thats necessary to get the point across I love that dirty water
