When I was in in the end of the 70's and most of the 80's there was always some story or another of somebody being raised from the dead, or being cured of cancer or AIDS someplace else from wherever I was. I never met any of these people but there ws no shortage of it in the gossip line. Maybe these are more 'urban myths' than claims. I heard a story being passed around in the late 70's about a WOW who was contemplating leaving the field...He happened to be walking down some street past a phone booth(remember those?)in California someplace while he was deciding whether to leave or not when the phone in the booth rang... For no particular reson he picked up the phone as he was walking past and Lo and Behold who is it but Wierwille on the phone calling by 'revelation' to implore him to stay on the field "For God" Yea Surrre In my experience there was always some new outlandish story or unsubstantiated claim somewhere. The guy who saved a nuclear sub from sinking.... A guy who ran on a field during a high school fooball game and put a broken bone ( that ws sticking out of the guys shoulder! back in place, then the whole town took the class the next week. People who drove to the ROA with no gas in the tank, or fell asleep while driving for 8 hours while "guardian angels took the wheel" At one point it seemed like it never ended. It was such a chaos of imaginative and wishful thinking to gain acceptance that for awhile it was the norm where I was I myself was able to hold back an entire hurricane and also mend bone with my xray vision (joking) until I got better

I dont exactly know who Bouquais is, but that is a beautiful instrument. I understand why anyone would drool over that. I know that basically everone that I know sure would.... I'd love to hear the stories that it could tell after making music for 260 years...Where has it been? Who has played it? What memorable experiences has it had? How did you come by that?? Do you still play it? and again Im gonna press on to When are we going to hear some dmiller music here? :) I know that I am a newcomer, basically a hacker and still learning new things everyday about the music and playing the old tunes with friends. One of these days I'm going to kidnap you, all your instruments, and your wealth of knowledge to a weekend in the hills of Western Mass for a weekend of good homemeade music, good homemade food, and good friends.. hopefully you wont be too mad for me stealing you away. a relatively new song to me thats the latest thing I learned this week.I have a Bill Monroe version that I like better but this is the only version I could find on utube- Crossing The Cumberlands

o yippee We had a good "Rudy" type story that may have fallen through the cracks to some of you. The Sox with a lot of outfielders on the DL called up one Daniel Nava from AAA as an emergency outfielder for a game. Nava has been cut from ever level..He is very short and small he was cut from his high school team, was cut from his college team and was the team manager washing uniforms..He was not drafted, did not play for a year after college then played for a few years with a small independant team. The Red Sox bought his rights for $1.00 (One Dollar) a few years ago to fill out their single A roster. When he got the chance to play professionally he made the most of it and slowly moved up over the last 3 years. He got his chance this weekend after several injuries and hit a grand slam on his first major league pitch After 2 games he is batting .500 with 5 RBI and has shown agreat arm in the OF...I really dont know where he will go from here, but for the moment he has captured the heart of Red Sox fans and hopefully most baseball fans. I love when the underdog wins, and when the guy who's never going to make it--does

Dang--Im going to have to hear that whole story someday! That must've been one amazing experience When I was a hardcore rock and roller in my much much younger years, it was Blake and afew others who first opened my ears and eyes that there were other magnificent unexplored genres that captivated me and were worthy of my attention. Blake is one musician that I never tire of--- Jordan Am A Hard Road To Travel <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

I hope this works There is no big message-it just feels good Rachael

take it someplace else - There's no reason to clog up this thread too. Start another thread on what you think Geisha believes and why its wrong-- or "The Ultimate Fighting Final Showdown Thread" or something.. Then have it out there instead of everywhere

Im no expert but the bible talks a heckuva lot more about the poor and taking care of the poor than it does about any other group of people... I don't see all that many "Blessed are the successful" type of statements

Im not particularly a christian, or a youth, or even good for that matter BUT I have heard nothing but good, sometimes glowing things from people that I implicitly trust aboutKanuga in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina whether for Adult Retreats or Youth Camps. It is run by Episcopalians, who I personally have always found to be more sound than TWI related christianity but it is open to all

I'll second the Muslim woman. It was a conundrum to me after I left TWI as to who to give to or not give to. Imo as in everything else Way doctrine was pretty screwed up on giving... It took me awhile to sort it out. Im not against giving..I enjoy it! but now I decide when and where it goes and who or what I deem worthy to give it to---I dont have any specific rules and I dont keep track but I can say its much more enjoyable not to be coerced and manipulated but to give my hard earned to who I decide to give to....when I decide to give it. It could be anybody--charities I believe in, individuals, directly to someone in need.. I know that I hardly ever know for sure until it happens, but anyone who is out demanding it or begging for it TWI style usually gets zero.

Wow---This guy can get WHATEVER he wants, WHENEVER he wants it, and make ALL HIS DREAMS COME TRUE, and then decides of all things in life to be ---the greatest is being a 3AM Infomercial Pitchman??? Gimme a break

I happened to be up scanning the channels at 230 this morning and stopped at BookTV and listened to an interview with author Barbara Ehrenreich who has written a book entitled BRIGHT-SIDED: HOW THE RELENTLESS PROMOTION OF POSITIVE THINKING HAS UNDERMINED AMERICA. Although we have covered this subject many many times at GSpot, she was able to trace the development of 'positive thinking' over the last century and verbalize nearly all of the negative aspects of "positive thinking" in her 35 minute interview. IMO, if you are interested in this subject its worth watching when you have the time. you can link to the Video HERE and here is aNY Times Article

All good stuff! I heard this tune early trhis morning and it put me in a great mood for all day-- There is only one-- Louis Armstrong- <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>PS--there was some talk a few years back --someone who loved Simon and Garfunkel (Pawtucket maybe??). I'm not all that sure, but apparently live performances by them are sort of rare. They are coming to my hometown this summer if anyone is interested ... LINK I am a little prejudiced but I think if you are a fan that this is the best possible place anywhere to see them.... Here's the venue: I live behind the mountain on the left, which also happens to be the place where Herman Melville decided to write Moby Dick.

Seems to happen everywhere. Perhaps the tales are a bit too Harry Potterish, or has everyone already forgotten the furor Potter caused in this country just a few years ago?.. HP may still be off school book shelves in some towns for all I know HERE is a list of books being banned in schools in Texas.

A lot of the time...They seem to be almost every where --i.e"You are either for the invasion of Iraq or siding with the terrorists" Nothing could be further from the truth, but either/or practitioners overly narrow their arguments and are blind to the scope of beyond what they present.

I agree with Abigail---Preaching, teaching and lecturing probably isnt going to work as we've all had that to death. but if you are not afraid to converse it may be interesting for some of us as well as for yourself. Welcome to life in the outside world :)

I also thing that there is a huge amount of ego at work within that idea...I dont know where people get off coming out of a failed system, and then deciding to start their own 'ministry' with only TWI's failed system as a point of reference....but they do. IMO its basically egotism by people who are afraid to get real jobs. I know that there are some who after TWI have gone to legitimate schools and seminaries and been ordained into different established denominations...(Plotinus who used to come here is a Presbyterian minister).. I can respect that and dont consider them splinters but they are the rare exceptions rather than the rule.

Perhaps he is emulating the only other stand on one leg doing yoga while playing flute guy I have ever seen.... Krishna I'm sure that wouldnt fare too well with Church Lady either but Dig Krsna's Rock Star threads... or maybe it was Kokopelli he was going for either way history doesnt have a shortage of legendary flute players bouncing around on one leg.. Great Vid ss!

Thanks for the headsup--I'll definitely go out of my way to hear Vin again--Im sure it will be somewhere--if anyone finds it before me let me know plz.... Ive heard of that game but never seen the box score before.....I could live to be 200 and never see a game like that again.....matching 16 inning complete games---Yikes! Sort of lost in there is that Mays threw out a runner at the plate in the fourth that paved the way for this to go 16 then also hit the walkoff HR--If I could ever go back in time I'd love to see Willie in his prime just once
-
True enough ..... but it WAS during a perfect game with 2 outs in the ninth....I didnt think it was all that close and still dont, it looked like full step to me. The umpire freely admits he got the call wrong.....I understand umps are human and make mistakes, but that was a bad call at the very worst possible time. Galaragga may never ever have that chance at baseball immortality ever again, it shouldnt have ended like that. I hope that Selig at least gives him an asterick (like Ernie Shores) and includes himin the list of perfect games--He earned it
-
It was incredibly painful to watch--Its really too bad that had to happen on the same day Jr. retired--He deserved his day..It was a beautiful thing to see him in his prime

I CAN NOT Believe that call in Detroit
