  1. I agree with Mosh, I dont see many of the 'big acts' anymore. There are some great small venues in my area with plenty of highly talented musicians, who havent felt the need to become corporations, or fall into the thinking that more is better, but still think the music itself is enough. My money goes these days to musicians who are still musicians and not public relations firms. Last concert: sat in the 1st row for David Bromberg last week in a club that holds 70 people for $18.00. I was about 5 feet away while he played -gimme that anyday of the week.
  2. The Kids from Richmond, Texas made it to Williamsport for the second year in a row last night- a good exciting game against Arkansas The LLWS has first choice for me, with the Sox relegated to between innings, even though the AL wildcard race is in a 3-way tie. Halfway through August and the Red Sox are still a team without an identity, they and a lot of these major leaguers could learn a lot about teamwork from these little leaguers. Hows Nomar doing over there? He wasnt happy anymore over here, but when he is on (which has been awhile)he can be one of the most exciting players I have seen in this generation. Maybe those days are gone (maybe and hopefully not) but I still would love to see him spark the Cubs to the Series.
  3. Agreed and agreed, to me baseball is, or can be at times near to the perfect artform, I enjoy all those things of which you speak. What ultimately perturbs me is when I see our million dollar messiahs making mental lapses that any athletic 9 year old knows and that would embarass a 12 year old. Although mental and physical mistakes are a part of the game to see some of the things that I have seen this year out of my team, sort of degrades the game itself and gets me po'ed. Its like watching the child with the most potential go astray. However, It still is though the best thing( well one of the best...) to do with a summer evening
  4. Not really, I just feel it every year about this time during the nosedive......maybe it is genetic memory from the grandparents or a grave sin in a past life that lead me to be born in Boston....the Red Sox are an eternal and unbreakable link to dashed hopes and unfulfilled dreams Every year with the Red Sox seems like a hundred years
  5. Well being a Red Sox fan, I like to see somebodies baseball dreams come true, since mine have been on hold for about a century now.

  7. Label Instructions This is a clothing label from a small American company that sells their product in France. Here's the translation of the French part of the label. Wash with warm water. Use mild soap. Dry flat. Do not use bleach. Do not dry in the dryer. Do not iron. We are sorry that Our President is an idiot. We did not vote for him. The company that made this tag is called Tom Bihn Designs. They made a shirt in honor of the tag.. Proceed are going to benefit the Seattle Vet Center's Homeless Vet Program. They Rock!
  8. If you work for an organization all week, and at the end of the week you pay them .. you might be in a cult. If you go to endless meetings, meetings about other meetings, meetings about future meetings, and meetings about the meetings of future meetings You might be in a cult
  9. Yea I have gone down this road as a biproduct of TWI- I guess live and learn helps as long as you dont forget the learn part. I have had to redefine the word 'friend' many times over the years and in all honesty there arent all that many, it takes years to develop a real deep friendship. I am still friendly with people no matter what their state but I dont turn a blind eye toward there darker or more hidden sides either, and generally dont (hopefully not) lay misplaced trust into the wrong hands. Its a hard lesson, especially after coming out of TWI, to learn to trust and engage people appropriately and to keep proper boundaries. It is something I still have to work on and reassess nearly every day with each individual that I am engaged with....but its worth it --the friendships that I now have are broader, deeper, realer and more lasting than any of the ones that I once had (forever) in TWI
  10. Thanks everybody! You got it right Wack I was a way but certainly appreciate being remembered by you all thanks for the star over the mountains ex :)-->
  11. I dont know how many times over the years while I was in that I was told that it was my ministry, that it belonged to all of us. You have as much right to the name as anybody. They never seemed to complain for the 10+ years that I was sending them abundant sharing or giving them all my time. I dont see any reason they should renege on their word now that it is not to their advantage. If you want it, keep it. If they want it have them remunerate you for all the time money and effort you put into that organization on the false premise that 'the ministry' was yours forever
  12. mmm... let me see, I have experienced two different kind of ear candlings, I think the technique done correctly does work, it is pretty old and was done for along time using rolled up paper as a medium, the new agers sort of took the old folk remedy and adapted it and now you can either buy the 'candles' for about $15-20 bucks or have a 'candler' do it for $40-60. I had it done several years ago and my hearing did improve and some obnoxious itchiness in my ear ceased. It does suck some of the wax and impurities out of your ear canal, however the ones you buy are coated with wax so when they are broken open it appears as if a mountain of stuff has come out when in actuality it may be very little. I bought some and lit them and held them to a table(not my ear) and there was a near equal amount of wax as when it was in my ear. This is not to say it doesnt work, a Cherokee healer I know alters the technique and just uses regualr paper and uses it to clean ears which works great. The tinnitus that I experienced was due to another condition. I relieved mine by drinking amix of Pascalite Clay and water three times a day for about three days---havent had it since
  13. Well whether you like the word or not , to a certain extent we were brainwashed, or if you prefer mind controlled. I havent got the time right now to find Liftons criteria but there were about 8 steps according to him that will result in people being easily pliable, steps that fit in well with the TWI MO. To a great extent while I was in, information was controlled as well as our peer group and associations, there were alot of other tricks that made us psychologically easily manipulable.
  14. I saw these guys last night, one of the most rousing and inspiring concerts that I have been to in ages. In an audience of about 1000 not a soul wasn't up and dancing and having a great time. This isnt just for gospel music fans either, but music fans of almost any stripe will appreciate what they are doing mixing soul, r&b and blues into a genuine gospel and musical experience that wont fail to move nearly anyone, christian or not. If you hear of them coming to your town, and have any inkling towars enjoyable music-do yourself a favor and check em out, I highly recommend it www.blindboys.com
  15. I saw that this weekend Kit, It is an amazing piece of work! I wondered throughout exactly how it was filmed...some extraordinary and unique views. I wouldnt suggest it to people who want action movies, but it is agreat way to kickback for an evening and be amazed.
  16. The magic ingredient for all science fair projects is Papier Mache models, at least thats what mine were back in the days when we had to get up to change the channel. An Aternnoon, a bunch of old newspapers cut into strips, built into a form, water, glue, some paints, a big mess, and you'll have what might be mistaken for a hawk---(and a good souvenir of your fourth grader)
  17. The sentiment isnt necessarily a religious one, there is a very vocal and active wing of the conservative fundamentalist church that is anti gay marriage, but other than that ,at least here in Massachusetts,(which is sort of like ground zero in this debate) there is a large movement by the churches , synagogues and temples to perform and recognize gay marriages even if the state decides against it. If the churches lead will the state follow? The question could almost be posed opposite than Groucho did, If churches marry gay couples will the state eventually be forced to recognize them? 18. Yea one of mine too Doze, It came out at a time when I was repairing my relationship with my own father that had been severred by years of cult involvement. At first baseball was about the only thing we could talk and be civil to each other about. It started there, our relationship is great now----I actually drove out to Dyersville, Iowa and played on that field, it was very moving, besides I hit a triple into the corn. There is alot more to baseball than meets the eye. "the one constant through it all has been baseball" and no matter what Hills says I still like the Red Sox this year
  19. Yeah, well once I believed Wierwille spoke for God too, we'll see how it all plays out
  20. I just read this article and thought Id pass it on: This Could Be The Greatest Season Ever And Heres Why "People will come Ray. The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers; it has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt, and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. "This field, this game, is a part of our past, Ray. It reminds us of all that once was good, and it could be again. Ohhhh, people will come, Ray. People will most definitely come." James Earl Jones in Field of Dreams
  21. Bob Dylans flick- This movie is ambigously Dylan throughout, on one level it is a chaotic mishmash of a story about a benefit concert taking place in the midst of a civil war, on another it is peopled with the surreal cast of sleezy music promoters, dirty politics and everyday prophets that inhabit Dylans vision. The music of course is great with Dylan and his band, as well as Dylan covers from around the world. I'd recommend it to Dylan fans or to folks who dont mind somewhat arty eccentric movies that may or may not hit the mark depending on your mood. Its the type of movie I have to see more than once

  23. I love the Simpsons (although Ive seen em all and theyve grown a little stale after umpteen years), I like it if I catch American Chopper, another dysfunctional family that ultimately really loves each other (there's a lesson in there somewhere). For news, like Rocky, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, who can make the mosty austere of situations seem humorous. But the thing that perfectly reflects the highs and lows of day to day life and a sense of spirit is Red Sox baseball. I miss it terribly during the winter months, but each spring it brings new hopes, and each season forges new lessons. I guess you have to be here to get it, it brings everybody of every stripe together. Its a regional thing but a near religion in New England, although there are converts throughout Red Sox Nation
  24. I was away so I didnt get to see this in time but know that I am wishing you the Happiest of Birthdays and the best of years coming! Its bound to be.... ((((Happy Birthday Wackster))))
  25. well longgone ---its all sort of a joke around here to see all these crazies from elsewhere wanting to change my states constitution. Even the Freaking president, who thinks it is OK to invade a country on false pretenses, killing thousands, weighed in thinking it wrong people of the same sex should enter into a loving marriage.. .OOOOOOOOO KKKKKKKKK-whatever you say---but he and alot of these people were never big on honoring or upholding the constitution or giving respect to people other than those who are within their narrow camp, so what else would I expect, its just sort of a scary joke at how inconsistant, foolish and transparently antiamerican people can be. The Mass constitution states that all are equal under the law. If other states think it in their best interest to live under a discriminatory system, where one class of people is by definition better and more entitled than another -- then have at it ---in yourstate --reinstitute 3/5ths of a vote for blacks,or make other laws making discrimination legal. I thought as a nation we had moved beyond that but apparently not or at least not in some quarters.. For all the ridiculous arguments and loopholes on these pages its all a simple matter of right and wrong, gays and lesbians are full fledged contributing members of society as much as any other and deserve to be recognized and rewarded equally with all others. All the other arguments are smoke and mirror distractions that only exist to self justify the narrow. Take care of business in your own house, dont come in and mess with mine.
