I don't think so --it was pretty clear. I just think that the concept of actually holding that as a standard is sadly and mysteriously foreign to much of Christianity as has been illustrated. The life of Jesus was also pretty clearly laid out, but much of 'Christianity' has morphed into many things that are barely recognizable at times of anything that could remotely be associated with his life and example IMO ( along the lines of the things you asked above). I have pretty much given up on Christianity, or at least any kind of institutionalized brand because it seems to too easily dance out from under questions like this and is content with a veneer that justifies its own lifestyles. That being said I think Jesus would be ahealer and a teacher, probably not recognized and barely believed if he were here today--- and still trying to make the same points because nobody has gotten it yet....same goes for anyone who claims to be his follower The questions you posed imo are all on the right track

    Breathtaking !!

agreed on the lily of the valley although I can only imagine what the fragrance of those fields of lavendar must be like
  3. thanks alfa this simple quote from the link sums up TWI and its leadership quite well
  4. :)--> :)--> It's Jimmy Fallon the Saturday Night Live guy as Drews love and typically obsessed Sox fan.. It was being filmed all last year, and was supposed to be about the Red Sox coming up short again-as they always had-- ..The entire movie had to be rewritten over and over as the Red Sox refused to die. I am pretty sure me and half of New England will be there on opening day..as it documents part of the 2004 Sox through their love story... For Best Actor In A Movie About The Red Sox: Jimmy Fallon
  5. pffffftttt to Thurman Munchkin.... on the other hand here'e a clip from next years sure Oscar winner ;)-->
  6. Your department head was as 'spiritually sharp' as a bowling ball, He was just a plain old a$$hole
  7. It is sort of in the vein of Schindlers List, so its not an easy movie, but still very much worth seeing. I have been personally amazed by the silence surrounding this movie---especially when compared to the over hype for downright horrible movies--I dont go to many movies but this is one of the better ones that I have seen in a long while. I haven't seen all the best picture nominees but this one should be among them..
  8. This is an inspiring and very disturbing movie about a hotel manager in Rwanda who manages to save about 1300 people from a savage genocide that is happening outside of his hotel in 1994. True story. It is extremely well done and worth seeing.
  9. I didn't want to go being of the same mind as Pirate and Geo., but I had a girlfriend who couldn't live without going so I went. I couldn't deal with those colored tux's so I went in top hat and tails and my girlfriend made her own hippie era dress. Thats about all that I remember as I'm pretty sure the evening had quite a few herbal supplements to the activities. I too moved back to my hometown after being gone for about 25 years and it was a really great experience. Hope it works as well for you WWJLA, try that dance if you want. I found it good to reconnect with people that knew me when, and before we were all inundated with years of adult BS... and Geo. is right, the reunions are well worth it---but I don't get where all those old people come from though either
  10. Evan I actually caught him at a great little local clubjust after I had returned from my excursion to the southlands. You are probably right, I did see some amazing Zydeco while walking Bourbon Street and there are probably others hotter and tighter than Buckwheat, it seems ingrained and just part of the colorful culture down there. Buckwheat was just lucky enough to find an agent and promoter that can bring a part of it out of the bayou and to the rest of us. I will give you a shout next time--the place has way too much fun, life and energy to pass on
  11. They are still at it and livin it. Maybe it was my recent trip to Louisiana and the fresh and refreshing joy of bayou music, or the complete unpretentious approach to life in general that they have--I dont know--but there is an irresistable spirit and life within the music that for a few moments at least made me feel like I didn't have a care in the world.
  12. Well Thank God for that, Knowledge for knowledge sake puffeth up, if i remember rightly Mike In my business I deal with churches of all types. Although they vary somewhat in their methods of practice, just about any one of the them is lightyears ahead of TWI in coordinating what they believe with making actual contributions to practical life.
  13. Are you gonna tell us the Thurman Munchkin story? He was rude to more than a few people regularly brawling with Carlton Fisk in the 70's. Words are already flying between the World Champion Sox and the Yankees and its only the second day of spring training..... In the good news department: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1994812 Overjoyed to hear this nightmare is over, and I'm glad it all worked out for Ugie and his family. The news is worth an Ugie fist pump:
  14. LOL@Temple of Doom, I prefer to call it The Toilet I'd like to do the tour and do 'em all some year with minor league parks, the little league World Series thrown in and end up at the World Series....I don't think its gonna all work out this year maybe a mini tour or two but one of these years it will. Whats your favorite park?
  15. :D--> :D--> Cool, I'll keep an eye out for the flying tarp guy video! great baseball moments aren't all in the stats... was Billy Beane the GM back then?
  16. Love you too ex, Where did the logos of The World Champion Boston Red Sox go? They are World Champions, they've earned it. Where is Simon and the Strangeone? Pitchers and catchers report tomorrow, We're gonna have to figure out another background besides this purple haze, its not baseballish. Maybe we could have lines of astericks******************************** in honor of *MacGwire, *Bonds, *Sosa, *Giambi and all the juiceboys
  17. As far as cults go its the best one goin' exie, no tithing, lots of beer,no rules of behaviour-- you do have to pay with your heart though... c'mon up to Fenway Park this year and I'll show you the cathedral where I worship or (shudder) maybe we could meet at that place in the Bronx where the adversary holds court....
  18. I don't get you either peahead. I also have my quarrels with Christian Fundamentalism but I have nothing against people being good to each other. That's something that is not exclusive to Christianity, it is a common thread throughout humanity and in most places just a good practical way to live no matter what your spiritual makeup (or lack thereof). They could have just watched Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure--"Be excellent to each other"--for all we know...
  19. I wasn't corps either, but one moment that sticks out to me was during one of those classes that we had on a Saturday morning from about 9-12. We were breaking for lunch, tired and hungry when the leader called on someone to pray to end the morning session. The guy started with the normal stuff, then got intense and went on and on and on...and for the greatestness of the Word like it has never been known... and on ... and for our father in the word.... and on ..and for each and every WOW worldwide... He was going for a couple of minutes when finally a voice yelled from the back of the room Let My People Go.That got people laughing, broke him out of his trance and we were finally able to eat
  20. Its a common disease this hopefulness thing...I get it just about this time every year. It is usually cured by about June or July. I thought I got rid of my bout of hope last year when it reared back up in August. I rode that hope pretty much all the way until October 27 when the skies indeed did part and RedSox Nation met the Lord in the air... Be careful of this hope thing, you smile alot, are kind to people, give high fives to strangers, sometimes you think you can fly.... ;)--> Baseball--gotta love it..
  21. Zydeco music hot and spicy straight from Lafayette, Louisiana. If your not too old to get up and dance your foot off see this band when they swing through your area. Even if you are old and staid like me, you can't help from moving....I think it is impossible not to have a great time seeing this band ... www.buckwheatzydeco.com
  22. I throw alot of things in for the bored kid in mass to find, and just to amuse myself..they just sort of come up...and go in...spontaneously...my favorite that I remember right now was a frog reading a newspaper in a Road to Damascus window, I've put Elvis in resurrection windows, made Moses look like Charlton Heston, angels look like my fantasy girl of the hour. Most saints are friends or people that I know, it keeps it interesting. I like irony, I'd love to immortalize Geo. Aar as Paul or Isaiah ;)--> or for you --VP as Beelzebub :D-->
  23. A few years ago I was making a church window and the priest was being a real @#$%& to deal with during the process. I got him back If you look close ( I knew from dealing with him that he wouldn't look that close) I painted a dog taking a leak into the background of his Sermon on the Mount window ....just for him :P--> Hope the Episcopalians can keep their sense of humor if they ever find it....
